Last weekend, 90 students from the NXT joined us on a trip to Portland to attend Generation Unleashed. It was a power packed conference as the GU band led us into worship, Russell Evans, Carl Lentz, and the pastors of City Bible Church stirred our hearts to Live our Love for Jesus and people out loud.

Driving for most of the day in a bus filled with other young people is always a bonding experience, if not a practical lesson in patience. Ha ha! Many memories were created as, together, we took another step in our personal relationships with God and invested in some life long friendships with each other.

GU 2012- Live Love

Every year the NXT takes a trip to the biggest youth conference in the northwest – Generation Unleashed. We load up on our bus and make the road trip over to Portland, OR along with thousands of other young people from hundreds of churches. It’s one of the highlights of every year as we get to experience powerful worship, life changing preaching and have a blast doing it all together. You ever have those moments that you look back on and think, “Wow, I’m glad I didn’t miss this.”? Generation Unleashed will be filled with those moments. Make sure you join us this year -

When: January 26-28 – our buses will leave FLC at 8am sharp. We’ll arrive back in town late Saturday night.
Where: City Bible Church, Portland
Cost: $180 – This includes conference admission, transportation, food money and hotel. You need to bring a sack lunch for the way over to eat on the bus.
Where we’ll be staying: La Quinta Inn and Suites, Portland Airpot - 11207 NE Holman St, Portland, OR 97220

Angry Birds Christmas Party

Everyone is getting a smart phone these days. And where there are smartphones there’s birds….angry birds.

This year for our Christmas Party at the NXT we’re going to celebrate angry birds style with lots of funny games like angry birds bowling, pitching and dodgeball, a life size angry birds game and a bunch of competitions with the original game. There will be great food, music and great times celebrating all the God has done in our youth ministry in 2011. We’ll be sharing the gospel at the end of the night and it’s a great time to bring friends to check out the youth ministry. We’ll be giving away a bunch of prizes including Kindle Fire at the end of the party and you get your name in the drawing for every new person that you bring with you.

Place : Family Life Church

Cost : Free!!

And the Champion Is…

The Turkey Bowl is over and the champion has been crowned. Braggin’ Rights will be staying in the home of Ryan Metcalf and the Mustangs are proud of it. The team dressed in Green went undefeated and took home their first Turkey Bowl title outscoring all opponents 93-14. They came away with the victory in the championship game narrowly defeating the Jailbreak team by the score of 12-6. It was a great tournament and all teams had fun pulling flags, running routes and raising cheers. Huge shout out to Central Assembly and Harvest Life Church for bringing teams out this year. We’ll see everyone again next November as this event gets better every year.

Turkey Bowl IV

November is one of our favorite times of year here at the NXT. Mostly because of Thanksgiving – but also because we host our annual flag football tournament called the Turkey Bowl. It’s the only winter flag football tournament that we know about in the Treasure Valley. Get together with a team of 8 of your friends and enter the tournament or contact Brian Gorseth to get put on an already existing team. Here’s the details -

Date: Saturday, November 19th

Place: Nampa Christian School on Orchard in Nampa

Time: Tailgate party starts at 11:30, games start at 1:00pm

Concessions include hotdogs, hamburgers, hot chocolate and more!

Cost: Free to attend, $5 per football player

Come watch a few games, eat a burger and have a great day out on the football field!

Ready for School

Before camp I jut thought I was at my school to learn and have good high school experiences. I was scared to step out and actually be a light, I was scared of rejection. But while I was at camp God completely changed something in my heart. I knew that he was calling me to step out in boldness and in faith. I grew a new passion for my school. I want to be an evangelist and bring light to the dark places in my school.

I know now that God Is going to use me to bring lost people to him, through my school. I am so excited to see what God is going to do this year in Liberty Charter High School. I am believing there are going to be major breakthroughs and strongholds will be broken of off peoples lives.

Healing

In the past couple months, I really have found myself to be feeling like I can’t get close to God. On Wednesday night, Pastor Patrick gave an altar call at the end of service for people who had a rejection spirit. Naturally, I didn’t think it was me so I went up to play piano. As he started talking about the signs of this spirit, I realized that was totally me. I kept everyone, even my close friends, at arms length because I didn’t want to feel rejected and because of that, I kept God at an arms length.

After quite a while, someone came and switched me out on piano and I lost it. There was no holding back from God’s presence in that room. A good friend of mine came and spoke the word of God to me. One of the things that I realized was that even though I love serving, I was serving people because I wanted people to accept me and not replace me not just because I wanted to. I would never ask for anything because I didn’t want them to say no. I didn’t want to get hurt like I had in the past.

After that night, I realize how much God loves me and how much my friends love me. I know now that I am not replaceable to God or my friends. God not only broke that spirit of rejection off of me, He healed some of my friendships that I thought could never be healed. God mended my heart this week. I am ready to move from the back to the front because I am a FRONT LINER.

New Vision

I didn’t think I would be able to come to church camp because of money. The Lord blessed me with it through a friend. I was kind of scared of coming because I didn’t want to come out of it without experiencing God’s presence. But I wanted to go so badly.

Tuesday night, Pastor Patrick was walking down the aisle and points in my direction. I stared back in confusion as he said, “Hey you in the grey shirt. What’s your name?” Never met this man or talked to him, but he knew me. He knew my heart and my struggles. The Lord spoke through him and told me I was like Deborah of Old and the Sons of Issachar…both known for their wisdom, strength, and counsel.

For so long I have doubted whether God actually had a plan for me. Then He lays it all out for me and my life has been rocked! I know my path and goal for this life. I want to be someone who can be there for others to come to when they need knowledge and advice. Only through God I can accomplish this. He is my saviour and king! Camp will forever be my life changing experience.

“I had my fear of what other people thought about me removed.”

“I left my old life behind.”

“I learned how to forgive the people who have hurt me in my life. I also received a passion to share the gospel with a lot of people.”

“I got boldness to do what God tells me to.”

“God helped me to not be fearful of messing up in the future.”

“I realized that I don’t ever want to live without God for a single day and that I really need to change up my priority list a little bit. For the first time I saw certain areas of my life that God could actually become a part of.”

“God spoke to me for the first time.”

“I was saved!”

“I really experienced the Presence of God for the first time. It was intimate, real, and you could feel it. It was amazing!”

“My relationship with God grew and He showed me a foundation that I was making of poor decisions and I broke it.”

“God made me way more hungry for Him.”

“God took away the rejection of my father. Also, God told me that He is going to bring fulfillment in my life.”
