Art and maintenance… two things that are not normally associated with each other. For many, maintenance is a mundane task, vacuous of thought and abundant in labor. On the golf course maintenance is taken to the next level. Superintendents have learned to shed the myopic view that sometimes accompanies repetition and look deeper into the business of maintenance. Timing, precision, and calculation, are all components of a well rounded plan that have their roots based in the art of maintenance.

As a kid growing up on the country side of Maine I had no shortage of choirs to manage, and a father that was happy to remind me of that. For many of us, maintenance starts at a young age. Whether we realize it or not we learn the quality of timing through these early years of maintenance. Mow the lawn in the summer, rake the leaves in the fall, shovel the snow in the winter and prepare the beds in the spring; timing is at the core of good maintenance. Here on the golf course good timing will make or break a maintenance program. With jubilant golfers awaiting tee off and a limited window to accomplish our work, the day begins and ends with the timing of tasks.

It might seem strange to think that online casino players would have a love for working outdoors, but it’s actually quite common. Many people who enjoy online gaming also enjoy spending time outside in nature, taking care of their yards, and tackling outdoor projects. Here are some of the reasons why players of best netent casino love mowing the lawn and working outdoors. Firstly, spending time outdoors provides a break from the often-stressful world of online gaming. The bright sun, fresh air, and natural surroundings are a welcome respite from the glow of a computer screen. Getting outside and taking care of the lawn or garden can be a meditative and relaxing experience, helping players to recharge their batteries and reduce stress. Secondly, working outside can also be a great way to get some exercise. Mowing the lawn, planting trees, and trimming hedges all require physical effort and can be a great way to stay active and healthy. Many online casino players spend a lot of time sitting in front of their computers, so outdoor work is a great way to balance out a sedentary lifestyle.

If cleanliness is next to godliness then precision is a close second. I used to think precision

was for engineers but soon learned the business of golf course maintenance is inundated with it. Everywhere you look you find precision on the golf course: grass cut to an eighth of an inch, water metered to the gallon, fertilizer applied by the ounce and of course the perfect putt. Being precise isn’t just important for proper results it lets you know what the results should be. Without precision, maintenance would be lost in a world of ambiguity and uncertain out comes.

One of the more assiduous gentlemen on my crew likes to joke that I have a game board layout of the golf course at home which I mull over the previous day as I move the pieces around to form my plan. Well… I don’t have a game board or the pieces, but I do formulate my plans at home often through thought and calculation. Planning ahead, being able to anticipate potential problems and seeing the big picture all come from good calculation. Proper maintenance on the golf course is molded in careful calculation. It is the foundation for success and the best shot you have at a good maintenance day…no mistakes!

It is said that art is in the eye of the beholder, I believe it after visiting the MOMA; though I do believe art can be found everywhere in life. As we race through our lives we often forget to take a step back to see the art we all perform on a regular basis. The chef cooks with precision, the coordinator structures by timing and the manager calculates the next move all of which have their roots based in the art of maintenance.

May is a great month; the sun is bright and shining high in the sky, the threat of frost is all but gone and flowers are in full bloom all around us. But while May is one of my favorite months, there is a down side during this time period that I must deal with every new season, Poa seed heads. For many, the term poa seed heads means nothing, but for those that do know the term you are probably already aware of how this little grassy plant can cause you headaches. Simply put, if you’ve been putting on greens in New England, you have been affected by the dread full poa seed head.

In one form or another all plants, including grasses, sprout a flower and attempt to produce a seed. The process can vary dependent upon surrounding conditions and animal activity but for the most part plants are pretty darn good at producing seed, after all they’ve been doing it for millions of years! It just so happens there is a particular grassy plant that can survive at an eighth of an inch of height and produce copious amounts of seed… Annual bluegrass, otherwise known as Poa Annua or simply poa, is a pest among golf course greens. While there are many negative effects to having Poa Annua in a green, none are more annoying than the massive amounts of seed heads the plant can produce; creating a bumpy ride for that little white ball on its way to its home.

Online casino players often have a variety of hobbies and interests that they enjoy outside of gaming. One such hobby that has gained popularity in recent years is gardening. Specifically, growing plants has become a favourite hobby for many online casino players. Here are some of the reasons why. Growing plants is a relaxing and therapeutic activity. Many players of online casinos with minimal deposit https://footyguru365.com/blog/What-are-the-Benefits-of-Betting-at-Online-Casinos-with-a-Minimum-Deposit/ enjoy the calming effect of tending to plants, watching them grow and flourish. Gardening has been shown to have a positive impact on mental health, reducing stress and anxiety. It is a great way to connect with nature. For online casino players who spend a lot of time indoors, tending to plants can be a way to bring the outdoors in and create a sense of harmony with nature. It can also provide a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction to watch something grow and thrive under your care.

The best way to deal with poa seed heads is the obvious one; don’t get Poa Annua in your greens! That is much easier said than done, and for those of us maintaining older greens the reality of managing poa and its seed heads are undeniable. To begin management, you need to understand poa’s life cycle. Poa Annua is a winter annual, meaning it survives the winter as a mature plant and produces seed in the spring; though it will produce seed all season long. The plant than dies off in the summer heat and seeds produced earlier in the season germinate in late summer to start the whole process over again. Though listed as a winter annual many strains of Poa Annua, like the ones managed at Candia Woods act much more like a perennial; surviving year after year.

Superintendents use a variety of methods to smooth putting surfaces, mowing, rolling, brushing, grooming, and sanding are all important components to a solid plan, but when it comes to poa seed head control, chemical warfare is needed. Applying a growth regulator at the proper times helps keep Poa Annua from producing seed, thus keeping greens smooth and helping to conserve the plants energy for the summer stress ahead. Proper timing of application is a tricky business; poa has been known to produce seed all season long however its main push to seed is in the spring. It is well known that applying regulator too late means you can miss the boat, which is why the first application for spring control takes place the previous fall.

Poa Annua is perhaps the most glaring difference between old and new green construction. These days’ superintendents with bentgrass greens have many tools in the tool box for controlling poa, while those of us managing courses of the past must accept our fate of nurturing a weed. Here at Candia Woods we will likely never be rid of Poa Annua but with a good plan, correct timing and two eyes on the weather, our poa greens will remain smooth and true.

What should you expect for golf in 2018? From the professional tours to your local courses to vendors, there is a lot to get excited about in 2018.

Are you excited about the return of Tiger?

With the USGA and R&A looking to alter some rules, the golf world is having discussions about major changes. Technology is steadily making their footprint in golf and looking to make bigger splashes. Watching golf has changed in 2017 and looks to continually enhance the viewers experience. We shall see how this plays out for the upcoming Ryder Cup.

The Year of The Tiger

This time it feels different. You can see his swing looks better, he appears to be the healthiest we have seen him in awhile, and he has his swagger back.

The smile, the fist pump, can give you feelings of 15 years ago and its nostalgic. This could be the year where he wins another major and any tournament he is in, we will be watching.

Even if he doesn’t win a major, or even a tournament, it will be fun to watch and I hope for a healthy Tiger for 2018.

Areas of the Course – Penalty areas

Expanded use of red-marked penalty areas

New rule: Committees are given the discretion to mark all penalty areas as red so that lateral relief is always allowed (but they may still mark penalty areas as yellow where they consider it appropriate).

Current rule: All water hazards should be marked yellow, except where their location on the course makes it impossible or unreasonable to drop behind the hazard; only when this is the case may these water hazards be marked red as lateral water hazards.

New rule: A new “Maximum Score” form of stroke play is recognized, where a player’s score for a hole is capped at a maximum score (such as double par or triple bogey) that is set by the Committee.

Current rule: In standard individual stroke play, players must hole out at every hole; the only recognized alternative forms of stroke play where holing out is not required are Stableford, Par and Bogey.

New rule: No penalty.

Taking Relief – Dropping procedure

How to drop a ball

New rule: The only requirement is for the player to hold the ball above the ground without it touching any growing thing or other natural or artificial object, and let it go so that it falls through the air before coming to rest. To avoid any doubt, it is recommended that the ball be dropped from at least one inch above the ground or any growing thing or object.

Current rule: Stand erect, hold the ball at shoulder height and arm’s length

To a golfer, few things are as satisfying as playing a good game of golf on a course with mature trees lining each side of the fairway. Players come to the course for the game but also to appreciate the calming beauty that a golf course can offer. However, it has long been known that trees on golf courses can wreak havoc with turfgrass quality and playability. For us, trees and the work they create have become a part of doing business, and few players realize just how expensive trees can be. Some trees are clearly important assets to the golf course providing beauty and strategic values to the game. On the other hand, the effects of trees are a major cause of poor quality turf. The negative effect from trees on turf quality and operating budgets can be summarized as follows.

Growing Environment- The agronomic truth is that trees can make it physically impossible to grow healthy turf that plays well. Sunlight is the fuel source that runs the photosynthetic engine and tree leaves, limbs and branches block sunlight and reduce air circulation that are vital for turf health, growth and recovery. Minimal light prevents the grass plant from operating at optimum efficiency and produces weaker less wear tolerant turf. Poor air circulation reduces the cooling potential of the turf and helps raise the relative humidity levels. High humidity creates an ideal environment for fungal pathogens to infect and weaken less vigorous turf. Heavy vegetation restricts air movement which helps naturally cool the turf in hot and humid conditions.

Debris Removal- Leaf removal in the spring and fall at The Oaks runs into the thousands of dollars with labor costs including equipment. Debris removal following wind storms of many non-deciduous trees like white pines drop needles and pine cones at other times of the year which requires significant labor to clean up. Sand Bunkers also get their share of debris from twigs, acorns, fruits. etc. as this type of clean-up can be more labor intensive with time and staff depending on the intensity of the storm.

Playability – Tree debris constantly gets lodged in mowers can and dull blades of mowing maintenance equipment which produces a poor quality of cut and increases parts and labor costs. From a golfer’s standpoint in spring in fall, shaded turf prolongs frost delays. At times, tree roots can clog bunker drainage lines which results in more time for water to move out of the bunker system. Surface tree roots are damaging to golf carts and shorten mowing equipment useful lifespan.

Health/Safety- Few like to admit it, but trees can damage property and injure or kill people. Potentially hazardous trees can be found on many areas of the course.

The Bottom Line: Cost– Trees are remarkable natural resources that provide many benefits. However, too many trees elevate the cost of golf course maintenance, reduce turf reliability and slow turf recovery from summer/winter damage. Virtually every aspect of The Oaks course can be improved by systematically removing undesirable, hazardous and unnecessary trees.

I am a fan of new discoveries. The allure of the unknown has always interested me, especially the notion that what I hold to be true could very well turn out to be false. The turf industry is no exception when it comes to new discoveries. It seems every year there is a new piece of equipment to try, a new chemical to spray or a lost philosophy that will solve all our problems. Choosing which new discovery to try can be challenging; trying something new means leaving your comfort zone. Over the years of relishing in the excitement of new discoveries I have gotten used to the feeling of discomfort; so much that the idea of complacency now feels a bit scratchy.

Winter is a good time for a golf course superintendent to reflect back upon the previous season. Good note taking will assist in this endeavor and keeping up with current news helps guide decisions for the upcoming season. As I pour through my yearly notes, scan through my old turf books and read up on new trends, I enter into the world of discovery in which I cherish. What unknown fact will I uncover? What new methods can I try? What process did I get wrong?

Whether it’s a new game like fantastic four slots free or a different way of playing, the thrill-seekers who frequent these establishments are never satisfied with the same old routine. This is why many casinos continuously update their offerings to keep their customers coming back for more.

One way that casinos attract players is by introducing new games on a regular basis. These could be variations of existing games or completely new ones altogether. And while some players may prefer to stick with what they know, others will jump at the chance to try something different and potentially more lucrative.

Another way that casinos keep things fresh is through special events and promotions. From tournaments and giveaways to celebrity appearances and themed nights, there’s always something going on in the world of gambling.

Most golf outings take advantage of not only the golf aspect but also food and beverage making it an attractive opportunity for fundraising groups as well as the golf courses. Hosting a golf outing at Candia Woods is a combined team effort of all of our departments; Matt Evans, grounds, Doug Alderman, Mike Lloyd and Christina Desjardins with food/beverage and of course Craig McLaughlin in the golf shop. All departments and their leaders play integral roles in the success of the golf outing but more importantly satisfying our customer’s expectations! There is a lot that transpires from the moment of the first inquire to the day of the golf outing and I thought it might be interesting to see how it all comes together.

Typically it starts with a phone call or email to me inquiring about having the event, gathering information as to costs, specific needs of the customer and of course date availability. If the date is open and the customer is agreeable to the fees, a deposit is paid and agreement signed. At this point it goes on our master schedule so all departments are aware of the outing. Initially, Craig and I will often have meetings/phone calls and emails with the outing coordinators to go over their specific needs. We also have weekly staff meetings that go over upcoming events detailing the dates, start times and food & beverage needs…this starts as early as 6 weeks out! Each department will need to plan out their staff and necessary prep time to complete their assignment … this takes time!

Usually I have ongoing dialogue with the outing coordinator right up to the event to make sure we are prepared. One week prior to the outing the outing must give us a minimum count for both golf and food/beverage as well as supply Craig with all the sponsorship logos and information needed to make sponsor signs, scorecards and cart signs (Candia Woods is one of the very few courses that includes this value added option to our outing customers). Craig and his staff do an unbelievable job preparing the outings and our customers appreciate it. Doug, Mike and Christina will have the information they need to setup the pavilion and staff for the day of the outing. Matt will also have all the information he needs especially the time of the shotgun start and how many holes will be occupied.

Ok, the day of the outing is here and time to start the process! First, Matt and his crew arrive and start prepping the course by 4:30 – 5:00 am depending on what time of the year. Remember, if the shotgun start is 8:30 am that means all of the greens must be mowed, cups and tee markers changed, fairways mowed and off the course prior to 8:30 am. Matt’s staff does an outstanding job every outing and I constantly get great reviews from the coordinators and the outing players.

Next, Craig’s outside staff arrives by 5:30 – 6:00 am depending on the start time. The first step is locating the golf carts in their respective positions around the cul de sac and near the first tee. Craig prepares a master plan for the cart staging for every outing so the staff can quickly stage the carts correctly and efficiently. Once finished with the carts several staff members will load the cart signs and scorecards on to the appropriate carts, other staff members go down to the range to setup the pyramids of range balls while the others will start putting the tee sponsor signs on the tees, putting out nearest the pin and long drive markers and usually some hole in one contests. This process needs to be finished timely so the outside staff members can now start greeting the players arriving for the event, taking their golf bags an

d placing them on their assigned carts as well directing the players to registration area. Again, Craig’s outside staff team is great, treati

ng our customers with the utmost respect and constantly receive rave reviews from the coordinators.

Many times we do continental breakfasts the day of the outing. Mike Lloyd and his staff will again arrive early to set it up and monitor the food and beverage during the registration. Doug and his staff have prepped the continental breakfast the day before. Also prior to tee off Mike’s beverage cart staff members arrive to stock their carts to be ready for all the players. Both Mike, Doug and their teams do a great job so the customers are again satisfied.

As the morning moves along and guests arrive more frequently we start PA announcements welcoming them to Candia Woods, offering information about registration, cart location, where the range is located and reminding them of the shotgun start time (this is usually done by the soft spoken GM who on occasions has been mistaken for a radio host but also

reminded to keep his job!). I enjoy this aspect every outing as it is my opportunity to make everyone feel welcomed and appreciated. Often players that have not been to Candia Woods since their last outing will come in and say “hi” which I always enjoy.

We’re getting close now and this is where it all comes together for the golf aspect! Matt usually radios in 10 – 15 minutes ahead of the start time and informs us know when he will be finished, Craig is at the registration table with coordinator to see if everyone has checked in, the outside staff starts putting keys in the carts and we start calling the players to the carts. Typically, we make the final announces 5 minutes ahead of the start time, reviewing the golf tournament rules of the day and other important information. At this point if Matt and Craig are ready we come out and blow the air horn to start the players on their way! It always a great sight to see the carts heading out to their respective tees and the players excited to be on the course ready for a great day at Candia Woods…it’s also time for all of us to take deep breathe!

While the players are on the course the next component of the outing starts getting ready. First, our wait staff starts arriving to reset after the morning guests, making sure the room is clean and ready for the players when they come in. Doug’s staff arrives in the kitchen (they have prepped some of the food ahead of time) and start cooking and preparing for the designated food serving time. Doug and his staff do an amazing job each and every event we host. I find it incredible how he can prepare for groups of 100 or more and make it look routine. Our customers also give very positive reviews for the food for these events.

Approximately 5 hours from tee off the players begin to finish and come to the pavilion. The players turn in their scorecards to Craig for scoring and then head to the buffet line to have their meal. It usually takes 30 – 45 minutes to feed everyone (depending on the size of the outing). Our efficient wait staff helps with the serving and then helps clear the tables so the outing can get started with the prizes, auctions and other programs. The outing programs can take 30 minutes or up to an hour to finish before leaving. Once everyone has left our wait staff cleans all the tables and usually preps for the next event…sometimes scheduled for the very next day.

I have made this sound a lot simpler than it actually is for sure. One thing for sure it couldn’t happen without an incredible cast of staff members. Candia Woods is fortunate to have so many talented and loyal staff members to coordinate and execute these golf outings and other functions. I am reminded almost every outing how engaging and helpful our staff members are and it is why so many outings call Candia Woods home!

What’s your wedge set up? Do you know what your 100-yard club is, or how many degrees of loft are between each of your wedges. Do you have a preferred yardage with your favorite wedge? The reason I ask these questions to help you, the golfer play better from inside 100 yards. Don’t buy into the marketing hype of the big driver manufacturers about how they’ll…

“Take strokes off your game with X club!”

The only real way to take strokes off your game is to practice, learn, and practice the right things.

Let’s get started.

“How many wedges is right for me?”

Generally speaking, most modern golf bags should have no less than three wedges, but I prefer to fit players with a 4 or even 5 wedge set up. Wedges should have between 4 and 6 degrees of loft separating them, which will lead to a 10 to 15-yard gap between each club. As a player you should base your wedge lofts off your pitching wedge loft. For example, my Titleist AP2 pitching wedge is 46 degrees therefor my next wedge should be between 50-52 degrees, mine is 51 degrees. Following the rule, my next wedge is a 56-degree sand wedge with my highest lofted wedge being a 60 degree lob wedge. My gaps are 5 degrees, 5 degrees and 4 degrees. The way the bottom of my bag is set up leads me to have tremendous confidence from 125 yards and in.

“Bounce, grind, leading edge?! What’s all that mean, are we talking about golf clubs or knives?”

Let’s talk about bounce first. Bounce is the relationship between the leading edge and the trailing edge of the club, expressed in degrees. It is not exclusive to wedges, as every club has bounce. It just matters more with wedges because they interact with the turf in different ways.

Below shows a general guideline for selecting which bounce works best for your swing.

Which grind to have on the sole of the wedge again is determined by both your individual swing and your preference when playing shots around the green. Below is a list of grinds available on Titleist’s SM6 wedges:

M: heel, toe and trailing edge relief. This grind is best suited for firm turf and pickers. It also works wonderfully for players that like to play short shorts with an open face. This is a low bounce grind.

S: The “Stricker” grind. The “S” grind has trailing and heel relief; it is good for players that generally play short shorts with a square face but can be opened without worry of blading the ball. The “S” grind fits a wide variety of swing types. This is a low/mid bounce grind.

F: The “full” sole grind. This grind has very little trailing edge relief and is found on the 46-56-degree wedges in the SM6 line. This grind works well for people that take a full divot, play in soft conditions and play most short shots with a square face. This is high bounce grind.

K: The wide sole grind. This grind has almost no heel, toe or trailing edge relief. It is suited best for players that are diggers, play in very soft sand and play all short shots with a square face. The “K” grind is only available on 58 and 60-degree wedges. This is a high bounce grind.

My bag is set up in the following way; 51 degree “F” grind, with 7 degrees of bounce. 56-degree “M” grind with 8 degrees of bounce and 60-degree “M” grind with 8 degrees of bounce. I have always played low bounce wedges because they work best for my swing and our especially firm conditions at The Oaks.

There you have it, a quick glimpse into the way your wedges can help you play better in the scoring zone. If you have any questions beyond what’s covered here or would like a consultation with wedge set up; please email me at tmitchell@theoaksgolflinks.com. Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed “Wedges 101.”

Stay tuned for more,

Travis Mitchell

Traction – with a traditional look and ability to change worn spikes, these shoes offer maximum traction

Course Conditions – plays off of the first point but in wetter conditions shoes with spikes can get a golfer grounded

Longevity – with the ability to remove and replace worn spikes, you can really make those shoes last

Spikeless Pros

Versatility – makes walking around in the house or clubhouse without problem. With the smaller rubber nubs, you do not need to change out of your shoes.

Comfort – typically spikeless shoes were design to increase comfort levels. Companies are trying to increase the comfort to spiked shoes but most say still fall short of spikeless.

Balance – with spiked shoes a player may seem more elevated. This can create a balance issue; but with spikless shoes you are at a comfortable level you are accustomed to.

The following account is about a man named George Lucas. No… not the Star Wars guy. This George Lucas was never a movie maker, but he has had an illustrious career during which he has displayed a range of extraordinary accomplishments; Yes… in the arena of golf. And, I had the privilege of knowing him personally.

• A professional caddie on the PGA tour.
o Arnold Palmer’s personal caddie throughout 1980-81.
o Inducted into the Professional Caddie Association’s “Hall-Of-Fame” in 2009.
• An exceptional amateur golfer.
o Won the Massachusetts Public Links Championship in 1979.
o New Hampshire Open Champion in 1980.
• An entrepreneur.
• The greatest Yardologist the world has ever known.

As an Air Force brat George grew up in England, Japan, Florida and Georgia. He loved golf, and was a very good junior player. But, after two years of college golf at Georgia Southern, he knew he’d never attain his dream of playing the PGA tour.

In January of 1974 he decided to leave school and head to California where the winter swing of PGA tour events was underway… his hope was to pick-up a job as a looper. George had immediate luck when he hooked up with tour professional Bobby Walzel. In only his second event with his new employer Walzel won.

Shortly after the win George new he was accepted by his fellow caddies. You see, getting a colorful nickname is a must among the close-knit fraternity of tour caddies. When, because of his long flowing blond hair (at the time), Jerry Pruitt (Lanny Wadkins regular caddie) dubbed him Gorgeous George… he knew he was
in.

“I changed the spelling,” said George in a 1996 interview. “I liked j better than g, and I shortened it to fit on a vanity license plate.”

I suspect you can tell… Gorjus George was, and likely still is, a very flamboyant Character.

On the tour as a regular caddie George quickly became aware that a good deal of his success would be determined by the detail he could supply his player. Until the early 1960’s top golfers judged distance by sight and feel. It was Jack Nicklaus and Deane Beman who were first to start making their own yardage books. The job of mapping the course soon became the responsibility of the player’s caddie. It was an endeavor that George loved.

By the mid 1970’s some caddies were developing (for distribution to the players) yardage books, but they weren’t very good. George saw and seized an opportunity.

Gorjus George set a new standard at the 1976 Danny Thomas Memphis Classic at Colonial Country Club when he came out with “THE BOOK”. It was detailed like nothing ever done in the past, and 50% of the players in the field purchased George’s book for $5.

“Pros are spooky about tastes,” George once said. “As soon as they bit on my first book, I knew I was in business.” It wasn’t long before every pro was flipping through “THE BOOK” every week of a tournament.

Remember, this was the 1970’s, long before the advent of GPS. Mapping courses required pacing (he also used a surveyor’s cable), sketching and an understanding of the terrain from the golfers’ perspective… a unique set of skills for this type of map making; George was the best.

In the early years of his new business Mondays and Tuesdays were spent plotting the courses; Thursdays through Sundays were work days on the bag of his player. George was a very busy man. But, after a few years of double duty the revenue from “THE BOOK” was sufficient for him to give up his career as a looper.

“THE BOOK” has always been in keeping with George’s flamboyance. Not only is every book detailed to the nth degree; there are always descriptions that make them most interesting. For example large mounded areas are referred to as “Dolly Partons”, streams are adorned with fish, water hazards with scuba divers, birds in areas of dense woods… and an occasional chuckle with a note next to a yardage where a pro should never be like J.I.C.Y.R.S.U. Translation: Just In Case You Screw Up.

As the years have moved on technology has replaced the unique skills of the Yardologist. GPS distance finders and laser mapping have reached a level of sophistication well beyond what traditional techniques can match… no matter what the level of talent a true Yardologist might posess. Yes, even the likes of Gorjus George.

The last time I saw George was at the 2010 PGA Show in Orlando, Florida; he had sold his name to a Houston based yardage book company named Stackaline. He was at the show as a representative of the company, and to be inducted into the Professional Caddie Hall-Of-Fame.

Through 50+ years in golf I have been very fortunate to meet a host of colorful characters; all of whom, like me, share a passion for the game of golf. Gorjus George, the greatest Yardologist of all time, is one who I will always remember.
