T-Mobile Teases Users With T-Mobile G2 Site

T-Mobile is looking to up the ante on its phone lineup with the introduction of the G2. It’ll be T-Mobile’s first HSDPA+ phone in the US and run at 4G speeds. Speculations are that this phone will be released in September.

The T-Mobile G2 will deliver tight integration with Google services and break new ground as the first smartphone designed to run at 4G speeds on our new HSPA+ network. In the coming weeks, we’ll share more details about the G2 and offer exclusive first access to current T-Mobile customers.

Mark Hurd Steps Down As HP CEO

Today, Mark Hurd who as of yesterday was the CEO of HP, stepped down as CEO of the company with sexual misconduct allegation and ethical violations at HP. It appears as well according to media sources, that he used expense reports to cover up for his mistress and received anywheres from $12-$50 million as a severance package today. In exchange for not suing HP, he walks away with millions and probably a divorce. Engadget Article

Redbox Bringing Bluray’s to Redbox Machines

Redbox is currently launching Blu-ray movies to over 13,000 locations and by the end of the year will have them at all 26,000 Redbox locations. Costs of the Blu-ray movies will be $1.50 vs the standard $1.00 rental costs and should be interesting to see if the Blu-ray evolution continues and grows with this large launch and growth.

When Will Spotify Come to the US?

Music services for the internet and more specifically the iPhone have come and gone and recently Rhapsody and MOG have come onto the iPhone 4 with $9.99 applications. Spotify is a large music streaming service that has been established throughout Europe and the world but due to licensing problems, has not been able to get any services established in the US. It’s been discussed for a few years across multiple media and online services but discussions have popped up again and maybe we’ll see Spotify launch in the US.

Is Google Blocked in China?

Reports today across the internet indicated that Google was being blocked in China. Google recently established a google.cn site that protected all searches within China. For unfiltered sites, Google provided a Google.co.hk link that offered unfiltered results. But today, Google appeared to be completely shut down within the China country. But late today, Google announced that they were back up and no problems existed.

Youtube Expands to 15 Minute Uploads

Youtube today announced that they’ve allowed 15 minute uploads to their site vs the 10 minute max uploads from previous days. Unless you have exclusive content rights with Youtube, users were maxed to a 10 minute upload, but today the length of your favorite cat playing piano movies has been extended.

Microsoft Making an iPad Killer

According to various tech reports, Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s CEO, says that Microsoft is hard to work on making the iPad killer. Software will be windows based which from past tablet models could be tricky. A post by Ina Fried at Cnet.com states, “They’ll be shipping as soon as they are ready,” Ballmer said. In a Q&A session later in the day, Ballmer also stated, “We’re coming,” he said. “We’re coming full guns. The operating system is called Windows.”

New Amazon Kindle Announced: $139 and $189 Pricepoints

Breaking News:

Amazon.com has announced a new slimmer and faster version of its Kindle electronic book reader. It’ll be $139 and $189 (Wi-Fi and 3G Respectively) and will be available at the end of August. The recent Kindle 2 has been taken out of stock on the Amazon website and now it’s time for a new version of the Kindle. Faster e ink and page times along with a smaller form will make it even more popular than it’s ever been.
