In its first week, Alice in Wonderland made $116.3 million, which is more than Avatar made in its first week; Alice now holds the record in earnings for the opening of a 3D movie.

     Alice in Wonderland came out today, and if you haven't seen it yet I'd recommend you do as soon as possible. I thought it was amazing! Helena and the rest of the actors did a fantastic job with their characters, the animation was beautiful, and Tim Burton did a good job with the story, I thought.
      The list of great things about it goes on; Danny Elfman delivered a score that compliments the movie perfectly, as always, though I'm not sure how crazy I am about the Almost Alice soundtrack... But the instrumental tracks are lovely. The costumes were especially astounding-- Colleen Atwood is incredibly talented and I want her to make all of my clothes!
    And, of course, Helena and Johnny continue to be brilliant and talented, but I don't want to give anything away about their performances. ;)
You should go out and see the movie, either in 3D or 2D (I am yet to see it in 3D, only 2D. If you saw it in 3D you should leave a comment with what you thought, did you think the 3D made it better? Should people make an effort to see it in 3D?)
     The main complaint I've see in other reviews about Alice is regarding the story. (This may be considered a spoiler, so be warned) People expect the plot to be exactly like Lewis Carrol's Alice in Wonderland, seeing as it has that title, but the plot is that of Through the Looking Glass. I don't think the movie should be judged off of the title or prior expectations the audience has, so I recommend you look passed the fact that it's Through the Looking Glass but called Alice in Wonderland. I assume that was Disney's decision as to make the greatest profits by giving it that title.
     So just go and enjoy the characters, the familiar story with the Burton edge, and Helena's giant head.

Helena recently commented on her sense of style, it made me smile:
"I’m in the stocks perpetually in the UK — They say, ‘What is she wearing now? How dare she?’ Like, criminal acts. Now I feel like I have a reputation to keep. I have a responsibility now to dress badly, so it’s kind of liberating.”
And she hints at her outfit for the Oscars:
“It was basically a rough dress I was going to wear, made of canvas — the one they make before they make the proper dress. I said, ‘Can I just wear this?’ They’re going to paint it"

Thanks to RottenTomatoes.com, we get some more juicy news from the lovely Helena! In this article she discusses her final scene - which is coincidentally the one she dies in:

"I'm mostly in [Deathly Hallows: Part 2]," she told RT. "But it was fun. I died on my last day, which was really weird -- to actually be [killed] on my last day. Molly Weasley - Julie Walters - kills me."

And it'll be quite the moment, she explained. "I do get a good death scene," she told us. "It was really exhausting. As usual! [I'm] duelling, with a wand, on a table. I fell right off. I was clever enough to say, 'If you're going to ask me to duel, backwards, can we put a stuntman at the end?' They said, 'Ah, you won't need one.' And what did I do? Walked straight off.

"You'd think with 70 people looking at you, one of them would go, 'Er, could you stop?!' No! They loved it. I nearly killed myself -- on the day that I died."

HBC Talks Deathly Hallows!

Okay, HBC fans! It's been a while since there's been any news from HBC herself, but finally we got something! Thanks to MTV, we've got a new interview that possibly lets slip the confirmation of the Deathly Hallows split! Check it out, and thanks to mugglenet for the article!

"The best bit about being Bellatrix in this one is also because I got to pretend to be Hermione," she added of a pivotal scene that has the evil witch's identity being assumed by Harry's friend in order to gain access to Gringotts Wizarding Bank, which holds Hufflepuff's cup — and a part of Voldemort's soul. "Because Hermione takes polyjuice potion and gets to look like Bellatrix."

After J.K. Rowling wrote the scene in the final "Potter" book, the film series' producers were faced with a difficult question: Was it preferable to use makeup and CGI to make Watson look like Bonham Carter, or have the older actress act like the younger?

"Rather than put Emma Watson in a helluva load of make-up they just said, 'Now you go act like Hermione,' " Bonham Carter said of their decision. "That was fun, because I always wanted to be Hermione.

"It was great fun," she said of the scene. "[I was] looking at Dan [Radcliffe] and Rupert [Grint] and they were treating me as if I was 17."

The scene itself falls near the middle of the "Deathly Hallows" novel — but Bonham Carter's next statement might shed some important light on where the books will be split, a point on which the "Potter" crew have been elusive.

"I can't remember where they are going to cut," she explained, then remembered. "Yeah, [the scene is] definitely in the second one, because all of my stuff is in the second one. So you won't see me until 2011."

Johnny Depp to Direct Keith Richards Biopic?

It's been announced that Johnny Depp will direct a documentary about musician Keith Richards (who played Jack Sparrow's father in Pirates of the Caribbean). Depp says:

Now that I’m wiser, and that enough time has passed, I can experience directing again. Already next week I’ll start working on a Keith Richards documentary. While I’m in Drvengrad, my editor is already working on kilometers of archive footage and footage of his concerts. I’m very touched that Keith agreed to show up in front of my cameras.
