The short film was inspired by a true story and was to be entered in film festivals and the like with the goal to gain funding for the feature film . Now the film has been picked up for distribution by Mekhi Phifer & ThirdReel. When this happens i will be going all in with the visuals. I will upload the opening title soon. I also hear there will be an interview with by This Movie Is Sick(thismovieissick.com) and the directer of Juxed is will soon be coming.

This is the theory behind a fascinating new Documentary series about film. The series is called Everything Is Remixed. While i have always known and seen elements and scenes in films rehashed and reused i had no idea that even some of the most well know and respected filmmakers were participating and how much they were doing it. This isn’t my first foray into this ideal The Rotten Tomatoes show has a segment called “OMAGE or STEALING” you make the call, where they compared new and often well loved films to their scenes from their older counterparts, ten ask you to decide for yourself.

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is nonexistent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery — celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from — it’s where you take them to.”

—Jim Jarmusch, The Golden Rules of Filming

So at the end of the day “Everything(at least in Film) is a Remix” which makes me so sad. What i loved most about film was its seemingly endless creativity and uniqueness. Although this was more true when i was younger, now a days not so much. But does the general population care as long as they are being entertained? Did you laugh? Check! Did you cry? Check! Were you scared? Check! Were you entertained?! Or is this something for the filmmakers now and future creating the films we will watch and are about to watch. Part one and Part two are below and try to answers these questions in a very visually entertaining way and with the images to back it up, part three and hopefully more are on the way. Are we really doomed to just reuse and rehash what we have already seen or can we break free and be truly original. Who know but I leave you with one final quote:

“Optimism is a strategy for making a better future. Because unless you believe that the future can be better, it’s unlikely you will step up and take responsibility for making it so. If you assume that there’s no hope, you guarantee that there will be no hope. If you assume that there is an instinct for freedom, there are opportunities to change things, there’s a chance you may contribute to making a better world. The choice is yours.”
- Noam Chomsky

Thank you Philip Bloom for showing us the Voigtlander lens. This new GH2 camera is definately my new camera of choice. To me the quality coming from this camera easily surpasses the Canons in everyway. Unfortunately we dont have the lens selection of the Canons. But not to worry through the use of adapters we should be able to get those lenses on a GH2. From a cinema stand point, if you are like me and only want to shoot films, throw on a Hot Rod PL Adapter and get some Zeiss CP.2 or Cookes, or any PL mounted lens and have at it. Also this new Rode Video Mic Pro seems to be pretty good. Personally i wouldnt settle for anything les than a Rode NTG2, but this new Rode Video Mic Pro may allow me to lower my standards.
