Zurich, March 03, 2026: Today marks 100 Days to Go until the FIFA World Cup 2026™, which will see Canada, Mexico and the United States welcome the world for the greatest show on earth. This year’s tournament will unfold across a record 104 matches, kicking off at Mexico City Stadium on 11 June and making its way to New York New Jersey Stadium for the final on 19 July.

To mark 100 Days to Go, the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Tournament Poster makes its debut, celebrating the true spirit, excitement and unity of the global showpiece event. The poster features a collage-style composition with a player at its centre, reflecting football’s unique ability to unite the world. It marks the final piece of the FIFA World Cup 2026 poster collection, complementing the 16 Official Host City Posters released last year.

For the first time in FIFA World Cup™ history, three artists collaborated to produce the official Tournament Poster. Canadian artist Carson Ting, Mexican artist Minerva GM and American artist Hank Willis Thomas combined their talent and creative styles to design a piece that emphasises the connection and unification across the tournament. More information about the Tournament Poster can be found on FIFA.com.

“In 100 days, FIFA will welcome the world to North America to witness the greatest show on earth,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “The Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Tournament Poster captures the energy, diversity and shared passion that will define the most inclusive edition of the tournament in history. From kick-off to the final whistle, billions of fans – in stadiums and across every continent – will experience moments that go beyond football, uniting cultures and celebrating unity on a truly global stage.”

A game-changing FIFA World Cup
As of 100 Days to Go, 42 teams have qualified for the tournament, including four debutants: Cabo Verde, Curaçao, Jordan and Uzbekistan. With six spots still up for grabs, the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Play-Off Tournament and European play-offs, to be held during this month’s window of the Men’s International Match Calendar (23-31 March), will determine the final six teams bound for North America.

Fans who want to attend matches at the FIFA World Cup 2026 can purchase remaining inventory closer to the tournament, when the Last-Minute Sales phase opens in April. During this window, which runs until the end of the competition, tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Supporters looking to immediately secure their spot at specific matches and seeking a premium, elevated matchday experience can now purchase hospitality packages, which include match tickets, at FIFA.com/hospitality —- FIFA

Launched in 2014 with the aim of increasing the level of aquatics athletes in countries...

Launched in 2014 with the aim of increasing the level of aquatics athletes in countries around the globe, the World Aquatics Scholarship Programme is back recruiting candidates for its tenth season.

Scholarship Candidate Profile

Targeting athletes who have shown potential international success in competitions like the World Aquatics Championships and the Olympic Games, the programme provides financial assistance and expert technical knowledge for up-and-coming athletes that lack sufficient conditions to train locally.

Part of the organisation’s direct outreach to our national member federations and athletes, World Aquatics supports this project as a crucial development programme aimed at furthering the progress of national teams globally.

About the World Aquatics Scholarship Programme

The World Aquatics Scholarship Programme targets 100 swimmers, 20 open water Swimmers, 20 divers and 10 artistic swimming duets. World Aquatics takes into consideration continent quotas and gender equality for each annual class of scholarship recipients.

The main goal of the World Aquatics Scholarships Programme is to identify and create an optimal training environment for athletes aspiring to represent their countries at the next World Aquatics Championships and the Olympic Games. The programme aims to support athletes with greater needs and help them reach their full potential.

Successful candidates will be placed at one of the five World Aquatics Training Centres for one or two years. In exceptional cases, an athlete may be offered a World Aquatics scholarship with an individual training option.

World Aquatics Training Centres are located in Europe, Asia, Oceania and America. A new one will soon open in Africa as well.

The World Aquatics Training Centres are designed to welcome athletes from all around the world and provide high-level training conditions as well as full board accommodation. The perfect environment to develop and hone one’s aquatics skills.

How to Apply
Candidates in the following sports can apply here:

Swimming, Open Water Swimming, Diving, Artistic Swimming. Just don’t delay as the deadline for applying is 25 May 2023.

Life at a World Aquatics Training Centre

“I started swimming at five and now I’m really chasing my Olympic dream,” said former scholarship holder Sajan Prakash of India of his experience as a scholarship holder, first training out of the World Aquatics Training Centre in Thanyapura, Thailand.
“Training here is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to. You see the hills surrounding you everywhere. And the coaching is some of the best I’ve ever seen.”

In 2021, Prakash realised his Olympic dream, qualifying and competing in Tokyo Games in the 100m and 200m butterfly events.

Prakash credited the structured training programme with a collection of motivated athletes for aiding his swimming progression.

“In the morning, I wake up at 4:45, eat something and go to training. It starts at 5:15. We warm up for an hour and then the main session starts. We then do gym or dryland and then we’re back in the water at 4:45 for another two-hour session.

“It’s a life-changing opportunity to be here,” added Prakash. “We’re like a family.”

Since Tokyo, Prakash has continued his progression in the pool, including competing at the World Aquatics Championships – Budapest 2022 and making the semifinals in the 100m butterfly at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

More on the World Aquatics Mission to Elevate

With World Aquatics’ expressed mission to ensure people the opportunity to participate, compete in and benefit from aquatic sports, this scholarship programme is a key development pillar for World Aquatics President Husain Al-Musallam.

“My greatest pleasure as World Aquatics President comes in spending time with our athletes. Travelling to competitions and training centres and meeting with our scholarship holders only strengthens our commitment to offering opportunities like this to our athletes. Scholarship athletes benefit from elite coaching, while also having the ability to continue their academic studies at the same time. In 2023, we are offering more scholarships than ever before. I encourage any interested athlete to apply.” —- World Aquatics

January 10, 2023: The International Surfing Association (ISA) is excited to announce the newest group...

January 10, 2023: The International Surfing Association (ISA) is excited to announce the newest group of recipients to be awarded special ISA Scholarships, an incredible group of 28 young surfers from 12 countries, who will share USD $20,000.

The 16 young men and 12 young women hail from nations including Iran, Venezuela, Senegal, Costa Rica, India, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Chile and Uruguay.

The geographical spread and the diversity of the surfers highlights the ISA’s mission to expand the sport to new regions and welcome new participants and fans. Scholarship recipients are selected based on their financial need as well as dedication to both education and surfing.

ISA President Fernando Aguerre established the ISA Scholarship Program in 2007, which has awarded more than USD $388,500 in grants to benefit the lives and surfing careers of nearly 400 surfers.

Several recipients of ISA Scholarships have developed into elite, competitive surfers and have gone on to claim medals at senior ISA events. They include Daniela Rosas (PER), Carlos Muñoz (CRC), and Chelsea Tuach (BAR). Rosas qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games by winning the gold medal in the Women’s Shortboard at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

ISA President Fernando Aguerre said:

“One of my favorite times of the year is when the ISA gives out our annual scholarships. We have been providing opportunities to surfers from all across the world for 15 years now and nothing brings me greater joy than seeing the incredible achievements of these young men and women as they grow in their surfing careers. “After so many years we are so excited to continue to inspire the youth and encourage them forward in their journey of education and their love of the amazing sport of surfing. “I wish every success to each of these wonderful recipients. I am so proud of all of the surfers from almost every part of the world who have previously gone through the program. There’s no doubt that ISA Scholarships have had a huge impact on so many from underserved and disadvantaged communities.

“I can’t wait to see many more scholarship ambassadors achieve their dreams. No matter what struggles and hardship they might face at home, our dream is to see them succeed in life and in their surfing and I fully expect to see many of the names below representing their country at the highest level, the Olympic or even Paralympic Games, one day in the near future.”

London, December 7, 2021: The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation invites all national teams to...

London, December 7, 2021: The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation invites all national teams to enter athletes for the 2021 IMMAF World Championships.

Hosted by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and MMA Federation, with backing from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and in partnership with Palms Sports, IMMAF’s annual flagship tournament is to take place at the Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Zayed Sports City, near UFC Fight Island (Yas Island). IMMAF’s Worlds in 2019 attracted around 450 athletes from 49 nations, before COVID-19 put a stop to competition in 2020, making this IMMAF’s first Worlds in two years.

Returning medallists and new rising stars made their mark this year at the European Championships and World Cup Prague, establishing compelling rivalries expected to play out at a highly competitive World Championships, which will be broadcast globally.

To enable equitable, international representation, IMMAF is operating a more phased registration process this year, as outlined below.

IMMAF President Kerrith Brown said:

“IMMAF’s World Championships typically allows priority registration for the top 32 ranked nations, their being 32 spaces in the tournament brackets. This to set elite performance as the bar for entry to our premier event. However, with the pandemic shutting down competition in 2019 and 2020 there are continents that have not seen competitive opportunities in two years, and those for whom travel has remained restricted.

The registration system in place this year aims to both acknowledge the achievements of the nations that excelled in Europe this year, whilst not excluding burgeoning talent from other regions, to ensure that the event is a true and representative World Championships.”

With IMMAF continental tournaments now closed to athletes from outside the host continent, the World Championships will be IMMAF’s sole premier tier event open to seniors and juniors from all around the world in 2022.

About Registration

This Senior and Junior World Championships is open to all IMMAF Member Federations. There is a limit of 32 participants for each weight category and each federation can enter a maximum of 2 entries per weight category, subject to the following criteria.

Phase 1 – 1st Entry for Top 8: Priority registration opens for the top 8 ranked countries (in the IMMAF World ranking list) to enter one (1) athlete in each weight division before the cut-off date of Monday 6 December 2021

Phase 2 – 1st Entry for Remaining Nations: From Tuesday 7 December 2021, the brackets will open to all national teams ranked outside the top 8 to enter one (1) athlete in each weight division (that has available spaces) by Tuesday 14 December 2021

Phase 3 – IMMAF Wild Card Entry: IMMAF places 2 wild card athletes in each weight class on Wednesday 15 December 2021

Phase 4 – 2nd Entry for Top 8: Entry opens for top 8 ranked teams to enter a 2nd competitor from Friday 17 December 2021 to Saturday 18 December 2021

Phase 5 – 2nd Entry for Remaining Nations: On Sunday 19 December 2021, registration opens for teams ranked 9 and below to enter a 2nd competitor on a first-come, first-served basis if any spaces remain available.

Final deadline for registration: Thursday 23 December 2021

Following online registration, all registered athletes must be medically precleared and vetted regarding their pro/ am eligibility by IMMAF to confirm their place. Competitor entry is finalised following pre-bout weigh-ins and medical examinations onsite at the event prior to submission into the tournament draw. —- IMMAF

Karachi, September 09, 2021: Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology paid glowing tributes to the Olympian Arshad Nadeem who had qualified for the finals in Javelin throw at Tokyo Olympics. He was awarded gold medal and cash award of 2,00,000/-by the Sir Syed University for his outstanding performance in the Tokyo Olympics. Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem is the first athlete from Pakistan to qualify for the Olympics and the first to reach a track-and-field final.

Speaking on the auspicious occasion, Chief Guest Dr. Aasim Hussain said that quality of the sports has gone down because it did not keep pace with the modern world. We are in dearth of playgrounds and lack training facilities. Arshad Nadeem who came from a remote area proved to be the trendsetter.

Chancellor Jawaid Anwar said that sports need sponsorship. Business organizations should help and support sports in terms of monetary assistance as railway, PIA, banks, custom used to sponsor the teams of cricket, hockey and squash and we had the players of international fame. Now we don’t have the players of that standard. Schools, colleges and universities are the nursery for development of sports. Arshad Nadeem qualified for the Tokyo Olympics due to his great performance. He made history in the qualifying round.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin said that Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem opened a new venue through his sports that was being neglected for long. Time demands to encourage other kinds of sports as well and we have very good players of boxing and football especially in Liyari. After grooming and training, they would prove to be an asset to the country. We are fortunate that more than 50% of our population is youth and we should take full advantage of their energy and potential involving them in positive activities.

Vice Chancellor, Nusrat Bhutto Women University, Samreen Hussain recalled the old days when she was associated with Sir Syed University. She said the youth has the great potential to prove the acumen if favourable environment is provided and good days are coming soon. She also announced to give one lakh rupees to Arshad Nadeem.

President, Punjab Athletics Federation, Salman Butt said Pakistan has rich talent in every field but they lack the training facilities and sufficient funds. While other countries have immense facilities and funds but they don’t have rich talent. Athletics activities require modernization in Pakistan. Chairman KHA, Gulfaraz Ahmed Khan also spoke on the occasion.

General Secretary, Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA), Muhammad Arshad Khan presented the vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts of Convenor Sports, Qazi Nasar and Director Sports Mubashir Mukhtar for organizing such a wonderful event.

Earlier welcoming the guests, Registrar SSUET, Syed Sarfraz Ali said Arshad Nadeem has done a great job and made the nation proud with his outstanding performance in Japan Olympics.

Lausanne, 9 September 2021: Following decisions taken by the Executive Board of the International Weightlifting...

Lausanne, 9 September 2021: Following decisions taken by the Executive Board of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), the dates and locations of the forthcoming 2021 IWF World Weightlifting Championships and the IWF Electoral Congress have been announced. Both the 2021 IWF World Championships (7-17 December) and the Electoral Congress (20-21 December) will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

All related documents including the Event regulation are now available on the IWF website.

“We already know for sure that the IWF Executive Board which follows the December elections will be very different to any that has gone before it, reflecting a more egalitarian culture that is also more clearly focused on the needs of weightlifters,” said IWF Interim President Dr Michael Irani.

“This will follow on from clean weightlifting competitions at Tokyo 2020 and the adoption of completely revised governance measures in satisfying the criteria for success that were established for us by the IOC.”

The 2021 IWF Junior World Weightlifting Championships were successfully held in Tashkent in May, as were the Asian Weightlifting Federation’s 2021 Congress and Asian Championships.

“Our friends in Tashkent have already proven themselves to be very capable organisers of important weightlifting events this year, and the IWF is deeply grateful both to them and to the others who had shown interest in hosting our events. The IWF is pleased to be able to deliver this measure of certainty around the 2021 IWF World Weightlifting Championships for all our athletes,” continued Irani. “And in this difficult year, with the effects of the pandemic still being felt, our main priority will continue to be ensuring safe and healthy conditions for all involved.” —- IWF

Singapore, September 03, 2021: ONE Championship™ (ONE) returned with the historic all-female event, ONE: EMPOWER, which aired live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday night. The show featured the highly anticipated ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix quarterfinal matchups, the promotional debut of a pound-for-pound kickboxing icon, and a showdown for the ONE Women’s Strawweight World Title.

In the main event, reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion Xiong Jing Nan retained her World Title with a one-sided performance against 13-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion and #2-ranked strawweight contender Michelle Nicolini.

Xiong peppered Nicolini with beautiful boxing combinations to open the contest, staggering the Brazilian with a plethora of right hands on multiple occasions. Nicolini tried her best to move forward as she looked to grapple, but she couldn’t bridge the gap. The Chinese superstar continued her onslaught in the championship rounds, as Nicolini simply had no answer for Xiong’s impeccable striking. All three judges scored the bout in favor of Xiong to win by unanimous decision, as she earned her fifth successful ONE Women’s Strawweight World Title defense.

In the co-main event, #5-ranked atomweight Seo Hee Ham figured in an absolute war with #1-ranked Denice Zamboanga to win by split decision, punching her ticket to the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix semifinals. Zamboanga looked to close the distance early, entering the clinch in an attempt to bring the action to the ground. Ham tried to keep the Filipina at range by attacking with jabs and then throwing left hands down the middle. In the third round, Zamboanga exploded with a powerful takedown, but Ham battled right back on the feet to close out the fight.

In a highly anticipated rematch, #4-ranked atomweight Stamp Fairtex won a split decision in a close back-and-forth battle with #3-ranked Alyona Rassohyna. Rassohyna started off strong on the feet, bringing the fight to Stamp. The Thai athlete responded by securing the Ukrainian’s back on the ground and threatening with a rear-naked choke. In the third round, Rassohyna caught Stamp in an armbar, but the latter escaped and used her ground-and-pound to deal serious damage. In the end, Stamp earned the split decision victory on the scorecards to advance to the tournament semifinals.

Indian wrestling star Ritu Phogat survived a first-round onslaught from #2-ranked atomweight Meng Bo, storming back to earn a unanimous decision and advance to the Grand Prix semifinals. Meng rocked Phogat with a smashing right hand in the opening frame and then threatened with an armbar, but “The Indian Tigress” showed incredible heart to reach the bell and came alive in the final two rounds. Utilizing her superior wrestling skills, Phogat blasted Meng with knees and elbows from top position to dominate the rest of the way.

Itsuki Hirata advanced to the Grand Prix semifinals with a comprehensive victory over a fearless Alyse Anderson. Behind a strong judo base, Hirata consistently took Anderson to the mat with ease, pounding on the American with elbows, fists, and knees from top position. Anderson dropped Hirata in the third round with an overhand right, but the Japanese fighter recovered and went right back to work to earn the unanimous decision.

Pound-for-pound kickboxing superstar Anissa Meksen made a spectacular ONE Super Series debut, annihilating Cristina Morales to win by second-round knockout. Morales was game and came forward with furious combinations, but Meksen proved sharp and accurate. She broke Morales down with thudding left kicks to the body, eventually earning the finish with punches to the head at 2:27 of round two.

In an action-packed ONE: EMPOWER lead card, Jackie Buntan delivered a full-on assault, hurting Daniela Lopez in every round to secure a clear-cut unanimous decision victory. Meanwhile, Julie Mezabarba put together an impressive performance in her ONE Championship debut, dominating veteran Mei Yamaguchi to cruise to a unanimous decision in their ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix alternate bout.
