Bow Ear Cuff

2011-12-22T12:28:00.000-06:00

Am I the only one who has never heard of ear cuffs? Probably. But then I saw this pinned on Pinterest and I was in love! I debated for a while on whether or not to buy it, but then I decided to challenge myself and make it.
A quick online search lead me to this tutorial on how to make a basic ear cuff. After I had an understanding of how they worked I was able to create the bow. Here is the finished product-

I love it! I'm still getting used to it so I'm a little scared about it falling off, but it seems to be staying on really well. What do you guys think of it? Would you wear one?

Totally want to try this in January- Turn all of your hangers backwards on Jan 1st. As you wear things in your closet, hang them up as normal. After 6 months or a year, get rid of anything you haven't worn.

What I'm Lovin'

2011-02-21T16:42:00.000-06:00

Here are a few things I am in love with today:

Isn't this just the greatest picture? I took this on a recent trip to California. I actually hate riding on this ferris wheel (it's really old and the buckets sway too much for me!) And I've never really been into this area because it's so old and stinky. But there is just something about this photo that I'm obsessed with.
Yeah, I wonder why I left California too.

How cute is this necklace?! And it's made with things I probably have at my house. Or could very easily pick up at Target. You can find the instructions here.

I've been craving a big juicy hamburger. Totally going to have one for dinner tonight!

Chuck is on tonight! Chuck and a hamburger? Tonight is gonna be good.

I'm Back!! And I have Crafts With Me!!

2010-12-20T12:32:00.000-06:00

Well, I've kind of taken a long hiatus from this blog. But not from crafting!
Recently we took some friends to downtown Franklin, TN. It's a really neat place to walk around and go in the stores. There is a really cute store that's on the main street. It's called Lulu's. If I could go on a shopping spree in any store I would choose Lulu's and Anthropologie. But alas, it's expensive. So all I can do is go in and get ideas for making my own things. One idea that I ~~stole~~ copied, is covering composition books. This is what I came up with:
This one I made for my grandma.

This one was for a friend who makes amazing cupcakes! It's a mini notebook.

And this one I made for myself.

They are super easy to make and they don't take long to do either. All you need is some scrapbooking paper or anything else you want to cover it with. For the blue one with the birds I used cardstock paper. And I used mod podge to glue it on. But you could probably use regular glue too. For the edges I used ribbon and some lace on one of them. And voila! Instant gift.

Gettin' Crafty With Shoes

2010-12-06T17:40:00.009-06:00

I made these shoes for my cousins wedding a couple months ago. Her wedding was very rustic, Anthropologie-ish. These went perfectly with her theme.

They were a big hit! I found these flannel mary janes at Target and thought that they would look so cute if they were spiffed up a little. So I added a couple felt flowers and embroidered their initials on the side. A pretty simple way to customize wedding shoes!

You can find them in my Etsy shop.

Drawings

2010-12-01T20:55:00.001-06:00

So, I've always loved to draw, but I'm not too serious about it. In fact, it's probably been about a year since I have drawn anything.
As you can see my favorite thing to sketch is dresses! I usually copy outfits from magazines- from photo shoots or ads. As you can see, one of them is from a Katherine McPhee photo shoot and another is from a J. Crew catalogue.
The other day I was looking through all of my sketches and here are some of them:

I'm going to be adding them to my Etsy shop in the next day or two. Enjoy and thank you for looking!

I"m On Facebook!

2010-11-28T22:25:00.000-06:00

Hey everyone!
I feel so cool now. I finally made a Facebook page. Isn't that so awesome? So if you become a fan you can find out about the cool new things I have made and what I'm up to!
It's what all the popular people are doing. So why aren't you?

I scoured Anthropologie. . .

I scoured Anthropologie. . . by calvidrez featuring pullover tops

I got to thinking, what if someone out there wants to buy me a really expensive gift? I should let them know what I want. Here it is. I splurged too, didn't even look at the sale items!
I know, I know, I shouldn't have. But I did it just for you. You can thank me later.

Anthropologie Weave the Ring Skirt

2010-11-16T13:31:00.000-06:00

Does anyone else have this skirt?

I have worn it in the summer, but I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions for wearing in colder weather. It's so cute! I'm thinking maybe some brown boots. But then would that look too Laura Ingalls Wilder-ish? Any suggestions would be great! I'm gonna try some stuff on with it and experiment. We shall see how it goes. . .

I love how the model looks in this picture though. However, I don't think I could pull it off. Besides the fact that I don't have a button up shirt like that, or shoes like that!

Felt Needle Book

2010-11-09T13:39:00.006-06:00

I keep stealing my mom's needle book, and she keeps asking for it back! So I decided to fix the problem and make my own. I was inspired by a tag from one of my cardigans, it's Element. This is what I came up with:

Check out my Etsy shop soon. I'm going to add it!

Etsy!!

2010-11-02T17:37:00.001-05:00

I'm updating my Etsy shop! Check it out- The Orange Dahlia.
Here are a couple samples of what I just posted:

And check out my clips! I make them with 100% eco friendly felt. Perfect for the little girl in your life. My model, Simone, is 5 and loves them because the felt makes them soft so they don't hurt her while she is playing at school. I have many other designs as well. If you don't see exactly what you want, contact me and we will see what we can do.

Enjoy!

Anthropologie A Fine Fete Necklace

2010-11-01T08:39:00.003-05:00

I was looking on Anthropologies website at the necklaces and I came accross this one-

So, I figured I could totally make it. And I did! Here is the finished product.

I used some leather I had from one of my purses that broke. Then I just painted them, put some holes and and strung them on an old chain. I decided to keep it simple, so I left out the ribbon. But it would be super easy to add if I ever change my mind. I saved $68!

Hello there

Hello. Is anyone there?
So let's see if this even goes anywhere. I'm not much of a writer. As you can tell by the length of this first post.
