Holiday Weekend

Well, hello friends! How's your 3 day weekend going? Mines fab! I'm not doing anything considerably blog worthy, no fancy travels or any of that adventure, BUT we did find a gem of a Mexican restaurant (our new fave!) The hubs actually declared yesterday that he could eat all his meals there... Pat's not one to give that declaration away freely. Also, we (my parents and I, while Pat's locked away in the guest room studying his pants off, while we (my mom and I) giggle and eat popcorn and drink wine) started a new show ( i know right?!?! settle down!) it's called Parenthood, and we're loving it. I mean it's still not Friday Night Lights, but it's a damn good rebound!

Also, what's making this holiday weekend extra exciting and has got us all twitchy is that Pat is taking the California Bar in 8 EIGHT days!!! Oh my, holy moly, it's sooooooo close, I'm having heart palpitations!! I cannot believe it's 8 days away!! It's emotional, obviously I am SO excited to have my husband back and to get to do things again, like see movies, and go on drives, and just have fun without having to think, "this is time you could be studying for the most important test of your life, why are we doing _______" (fill in the blank!) But, part of me is a little bit sad because this past month we've gotten to just be home together, no leaving for work or school, just us, me working from home and him studying, and Carlita napping (seriously ALL day!) It's been really nice (for me at least ;) I'm not the one studying) so a little tiny part of me wishes I could just freeze this moment we have together, because it will most likely be the last time we ever have something like it until.... retirement, then the other part of me is so excited for Pat to annihilate this test from hell and to move on with our lives! So it's been emotional, but I'm enjoying each part of this little journey for all it's unique little silver linings. So sorry for the mush :) But please send prayers and good juju his way, we'll take all we can get :)

Be still my heart lovers. THESE sunnies! Just. Stop. As painful as it is for me to say this... they could be yours! My aunt is selling these vintage beauties! I sooooo badly [seriously my heart is breaking writing this! (wish I was kidding!)] wish I could keep/buy them but sadly they're a little too swanky for my pocket book :( If you are interested leave me a comment below and I'll get you in touch with her! In the meantime, I will be babysitting them, drooling over them, petting them, coveting them and pretending they'll never leave me... Bean Head

Is it just me or are the best outfits sometimes the ones that we have no intention of ever wearing together, the ones that end up spilling our closets guts all over the bedroom as we search for that perfect piece that just ties it all together (well, if you ask my husband that's every outfit!), the ones that cost 3 bucks at the thrift store, the ones that involve our friends shirt that she let you borrow light years ago, you know the ones I'm talking about, well this was one of those :) One thing this winter has taught me about myself is that I am a fan of hats... beanies, Indiana Jones, baseball, fedora, you name it, I'll wear it! If it means I can go one more day without washing my grimy a$$ hair, I'll take it! I need to start collecting my summer hats, because just like winter, it will be here before we know it! Seasons always sneak up on me!

Well, hopefully this is one of my last outfit posts taken on my iPhone... I am trying to teach myself how to use my brother- in-laws camera he so generously lent us :) (Thanks Matty!) I am the most camera illiterate person apparently... you would think working with a photographer that I would have some clue by now, but... I don't! I think I need to stop pressing buttons, that would probably be a real good start for me! It's a Nikon D40, if anyone has any tips on settings, or basically any tips at all, please share!

Out of this World

I am such a fan of leggings right now... especially nature, universe pattern leggings! I saw a pair that had a Lake Tahoe scene on them and oh my.... they must be added to my collection! Gimme!! I am not entirely 100% ready for warm weather yet... I know, I know, I am probably the only person in the universe that feels that way, it may also be because I live in San Diego, so "cold" weather here isn't exactly as brutal as other places, but I'm just not quiet ready to surrender my "cold" weather uniform of leggings and a bulky sweater! Once I find a way to make leggings work for a spring and summer wardrobe I'll join in on the wishing for warm weather wagon, but for right now I'm ok with a little brisk in my beehive ;) Actually, now that I think about it the day we took these photos it was sooooooo cold and I was screaming at the Hubs to get them over with because I was miserable, and maybe also because I was posing in front of a busy Target in Chula Vista and it felt so incredibly awkward... taking outfit pics may be one of the most uncomfortable things, but hey, some outfits are just too good not to document, right?!!? Oh, the sacrifices!!! ;)

You know what I wish I was doing today... seeing a movie at the theater! Bring on the buttery popcorn, bring on the sour candy, bring on the large diet coke! Oh mannnnn, come to mama!! I haven't seen a movie in the theater for a few months now, since my movie date is studying for the bar... and I'm just not brave enough to go solo... but only 2 more weeks and I'll have my date back! Don't know if I can wait that long though... any movie suggestions?

Superbowl Sunday

Please excuse my neon white skin. Somebody needs a tan... not naming names ;) Hope you all had a lovely Super Bowl Sunday, I honestly couldn't care less... to me super bowl means beer and fatty foods... some of my favorite things, but yesterdays super bowl meant cleaning the house and then you tubing the Beyonce bowl after reading all the hype on instagram and facebook I just couldn't help myself! Dayummmm Gina!

Anyway, I felt the super bowl was a great excuse to play dress up in velvet and leopard... basically I will take any excuse I can dream up to dress up in velvet in leopard :) My vintage dress and zodiac boots are from this AHHH-MAZE-ING vintage store called Gold Seam Vintage if you are a fan of vintage treasures like yours truly then check her out!! Is it just me or does January seem like the most boring yet most busy month ever?!? It just seems to be dragging it's little tush along! 'Git on now git! ' Anyway, I have been keeping myself busy, traveling around working on photo shoots while the Hubs studies his buns off so one day I can be a professional gold digger ;) Gosh, talk about a swanky set up! 2013 So Far

Looooong time no talk! I know, I know! I can't even begin to explain where the hell I've been, because seriously... I have no excuse! So can I just pull the crappy boyfriend move and say "lets just act like this never happened ?!?!" "Can I puhhhhleaseee have another chance?!?!" You guys, I know I'm pathetic, give me a break!

Anyway, how's everyone first week of 2013 been? I hope yours has been more eventful than mine... not that I'm complaining, because I ~~never~~ do that ;) This has been my first week as the wife of a really strapping young man studying his tush off for the Bar! No ladies, not the bar we hit up for free vodka waters and the occasional 25 cent wings (don't even act like you don't do that!), but the BAR, the test you take to become a liar, whoopsy, did I say liar? I meant lawyer ;) So, it's kinda a big deal... which basically means, its my time to shine...it's my time to play the role of the Emmy nominee best supporting wife that we all know I can be! Now, now, don't be jealous... the roll really is much less extravagant than I'm sure you're envisioning... it's basically just laundry this, laundry that, wash a dish, pat on the back and so on and so forth! So far, I am off to a rocky start, but, hey, I got time! For those of you that know me, you may also know that I am not the most selfless and sweet person... that is actually Pat, so this whole stepford wife roll just doesn't come so easy for me! So, after a week of recovering from the holidays and doing basically nothing, then feeling guilty about doing nothing, then doing it again the next day, I've decided to make this next week different... not too much different though, let be real here! I'm trying to fill my time with girl dates and working out... and by working out I mean leaving the elliptical in the kitchen and then every time I eat spoonfuls of cookie butter I can stare at it and feel guilty... it's really healthy, you guys should try it! ;)

Well... that is quite enough about me. If nothing else, I hope this post is like an episode of Teen Mom for you :) You can read it and feel better about your lives after! Hey, You're welcome!

Trailer Park Princess

Today was just one of those days where you wake up and are like "Today I am going to tell the world I live in a trailer park." Have you guys ever had one of those?!?! This is my first too! I feel like I should go on and on about how guilty I feel about abandoning you these past few months... and don't get me wrong, the guilt ... it's overwhelming! BUT that will just have to be another post, where I beg for your forgiveness because, when you wake up and are compelled to write about your move to a trailer park, you just don't mess around.

So... long story shorter - me and the hubs bought our first home, does that not sound like the sweetest thing on paper?!?! The detail we tend to leave out... that it's in a trailer park... If someone had told me in high school that I would be 23, married and living in a trailer park with a voluptuous papipom I would have laughed in their face. If they had told me I would be 23, married and living in a trailer park with a voluptuous papipom AND loving it -- I would have SPIT in their face! Hell, if they had told me that LAST MONTH, I would have spit in their face! There are just some things in life that you just don't see coming... and definitely don't see yourself liking... my evolution to badass was one of them, but I am welcoming it with open arms! My move to the trailer park reminds me of when Charlize Theron was preparing for her role in Monster {which I am totally renting later today BTW} that girl completely E M B R A C E D that role... gaining weight, striving to look haggard as all get out, Charlize was torn up from the floor up all to OWN that role! That is exactly how I feel about my transition to the trailer park, I feel haggard {I've been wearing daisy dukes and no make-up for daysss now} and feisty {I've resisted slapping Pat like 6 times now...}, like a BAMF -- I am E M B R A C I N G my role as Trailer Park Princess.

The hardest pill to swallow is how white trash I already was... OR how white trash we ALL really are... that was the real mind f*ck! I mean way to get the short end of the stereotype stick just for living amongst a few homes with wheels...Geez!!! Some things that I tend to do { watch Day's Of Our Lives, scream at my dog, go bra- less, strongly consider getting a mini pig as next pet } to name just a few, and some things that people living in apartments tend to do {where their "yoga pants" or "vickis sweats" long past their last yoga sesh, read romance novels cough*** 50 Shade Of Gray*** cough, proudly wear their hair in a top knot, poop at the gym bathroom, host quinceaneras at the community pool, yell at roommates loud enough for entire complex to hear, and eat taco bell } just to name a few, are considered full throttle trailer trash when done inside a trailer park, but are acceptable and normal in an apartment complex...NOT FAIR! Some of these things that I practiced freely when living in an apartment complex I have to think twice about now in the trailer park... OR not... I've decided to completely own my role as TPP {trailer park princess} and flip it all the bird! I mean is that not the beauty of living in a Trailer park!?!? You don't have to class it up because no one is on a high horse round' these parts!

I've felt torn about writing this entry for a while, unfortunately I do have a lot of "friends" that are on high horses and I'm sure are LOVING this opportunity to see this as a low moment for me, but they couldn't be more wrong, this is a high moment for me and I actually love living here. I mean...yes, no neighborhood is perfect, my neighbor does cuss at her two cats and turtle and we may have been interrupted during a nightly prayer by a trailer fight BUT we've had our share of issues living everywhere... So, no, it's not perfect but yes , we do love it! It's not forever, but it's a place to start for us!!

Itty Bitty Vacation

Well, believe it or not my computer charger is STILL not here... talk about snail mail for heaven sakes! If that thing doesn't come within this week, I'm gonna have to choke a B... I'll just leave it at that.

On a more blissful note, we took a mini vacation this past weekend! We left Thursday night, drove to the GORGEOUS town of Mendota... somewhere between the lovely Bakersfield and the charming Los Banos... who in their right mind names a town LOS BANOS?!?!?! I mean, REALLY, you couldn't think of anything better? I feel bad for the people who live there and whats worse is with that name I would expect some divine bathrooms, with like a toilet of gold or something equally as wowing but OH NO... you do not even want me to whisper a detail about the banos in Los Banos... but I have to, because you're my blog, and oh holy hannah i have got to tell someone! Two words -- flies.heat. use your imagination.... or even better, DON'T!The next morning we woke up and finished our drive and arrived in Tahoe!

Tahoe is one of my favorite places in summer. I just keep falling more and more in love with it. My grandparents have a Cabin on the lake there where I spent so many childhood summers and winters, I always loved Tahoe but now, I really appreciate it. It's like a retro wonderland, like if the Hampton's could meet Camp Wynamucka and date for a while, make out under the canoes then get married and make a baby... that baby would be TAHOE!

The trip was tiny.. pint size.... itsy bitsy, we came for a wedding that was absolutely beautiful, I will share it with you later but it was jam packed with so much greatness!! I took some killer shots on my camera but of course we have to wait for that damn charger... so until then Tohoegrams for you lovies!!!

The Ace Hotel

Boy oh boy do I miss you guys! A series of huge life events (graduating college, wedding anniversary, getting a job!!!)mixed with some technical difficulties (computer charger dropped dead on me!) have left me high and dry in bloggersville BUT - they have also taught me a valuable lesson in blogging...

Typically, because of my procrastinating ways I am behind a few days...weeks, in this case MONTHS on my blog posts... I know, I know!! But, in my defense this is usually because I want to make sure my posts are chronological, and I won't allow myself to post about the most recent things until my previous things are documented! But (yes, there are lots of tushies in this post :)) since I have fallen so behind and my computer charger croaked on me I am tossing that rule out the window! At least for now because I miss you guys! I miss blogging and I just can't wait to access my computer for photos so I am just going for it! Yeehaw!! Or should I say YOLO right folks... or i guess that is my pathetic use of YOLO ;) (for those of you unfamiliar with the acronym it means you only live once) So please forgive the crummy iPhone pics and my short and sweet iPad (I know, grad gift...spoiled right!!) posst until I am back and fully functioning.

Anyway the valuable lesson was -- just Ef it! Ef the rules, and especially Ef the rules if they're keeping me from blogging, YOLO ;) !! So from now on I am making a goal for myself to be more up to date and to not let my OCD chronologicalness be a wet blanket!! So here's a little somethin somethin for you guys... It's me and the hubs wedding anniversary vaycay to The swanky and oh so fabulously hipster and cool Ace Hotel!! We had such a ball!! We felt like we we time traveled back to the 70's!! The entire place looked like old Hollywood retro, so fabulous!! The people were so chill, the weather was hotter than Mississippi in the summertime (I just made that up because it sounded good!) the cocktails we're fabulous, and the people we're so trendy it gave us an excuse to bring out the big guns!(pink flamingo shorts for Pat and high wasted bikinis and flower crowns for yours truly! YOLO) Then on our last day we found the best coffee shop in all of California - Koffi! OMHeaven on earth this place was to die for! best damn coffee EVER!! If you're ever in Palm Springs go there! If you don't me and Pat will be forced to cut ties with you...sorry!

And whoops, my B if I look wasted in every single one of the photos... I probably was!

1 Year Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to the sweetest soul I know, my best friend, the love of my life, my husband Patrick O'Rourke!!! You are the most selfless and caring person I know, not a day goes by that you are not sacrificing yourself to bring a smile to someones face and I feel so entirely blessed that I call you mine! You make me so proud daily and your unconditional, consistent love for me reminds me of God's love for us <3 I know it sounds like such cheese but I could not imagine my life without you and I feel so unworthy of your love yet you never cease to show me and make me feel so loved! I admire you so much as a man, husband and friend, you are so wise and caring, you have a gift for serving others and it makes my heart sing! I cannot thank you enough for humoring my weird anxieties and reminding me that worrying will not get me anywhere, as annoying as I know I probably am, you never have complained and you always are right by my side supporting me. I am so grateful we found each other that random night at Papasandbeer Rosarito whoever knew that would be the night I met the most amazing man in the world...my HUSBAND! I love you so much Pat, I cannot wait to share the rest of our lives together.

Public Transit Bootay!

I know I deserve a BIG smack on the bum for being so MIA lately! I am so sorry! It's school I tell ya! Damn school! I swear UCSD saved up everything that ever had to be done to graduate and assigned it to me this month!! But, my friends... the count down begins! Only 13 more days of school left then I am a graduated, certified, smarty pants!! Wooo Go me! (that is if I graduate... don't want to jinx myself) Everyone knows the saying "Don't count your chickens before they hatch!" but... I've been counting them... and I tell ya, if they don't all hatch.... things.will.get.ugly.period.

With that lovely inspirational note, I give you my most awkward moment in a long time. It happen yesterday, I was in the heat, sweating bullets waiting for the shuttle. Yes, me and my public transit bootay have been taking the shuttle to UCSD, apparently me and my senior status, well, we've really humbled ourselves. No, not really, what really happened was Pat had been begging me to take the shuttle forever but I was always afraid I would get on the wrong one, end up in Mexico, become the whistle blower at the club that pours jello shots down tourist throats (I actually think that I might like doing that)... oh I had a list as long as Santas naughty list of reasons why I could not take the shuttle! But then comes Mrs. Cute Floral Jeans that I could not live without... ohhhhhhh but I knew my little frugal Jew of a husband would not let me have them... UNLESS... I cut costs somewhere else to pay for these gems! So... all of the sudden me and Mrs. Cute Floral Jeans were not quite as terrified to take the shuttle...

So I have been riding the shuttle acting like a pro for about 3 weeks now, it still terrifies me and I can't even tell you how many people have got a lap dance from me, when all the seats in the shuttle are taken and I have to stand and that shuttle rounds a corner....wooooweeeee I should be making tips!

But yesterday, my shuttle experience almost made me cry. The shuttle rolls up and when I am about 2 people back from getting on I realize Mr. Huge Black Scary Man Shuttle Driver (not to be racist, just descriptive) is checking for student ID's. I am carrying a purse the size of Texas and I know there is no way on God's green earth that I can find my wallet in time, let alone my student ID! Sooooo, I just pretended I did notice that he was checking ID's and I tried to shimmy my way past him, but ohhhhh helll nooooo he was not going to have that! So that's when he yells "Where's yo ID!!!??" and at that point EVERYONE on the shuttle had to stare at me and see who the IDIOT was that tried to shimmy on past him. I said "Oh!" Like i was so silly for forgetting and then awkwardly tried to scavenge through my purse to find it, then I realized this would take a year and I had a line of inpatient sweaty people glaring at me so I said "I'll just get off and take the next one..." then he replied "Next tieee' have it out fo me! Jus'go on!!" So then I said a really sheepish "thanks." I would have just prefered to take the next one rather than have the whole shuttle stare at me and think the whole ride "what a dumb biatch!" But I was stuck, so I walked mortified to the back of the bus... keeping my eyes to the ground because I did not want to see anyone I knew, that would just make the whole situation 10 times worse! So there I was standing in the back of the bus, sweaty, humiliated and more than ever ready to graduate!!! I could not wait to get off that shuttle and go back to being the annonomous UCSD girl rather than the girl that Effed up the shuttle ride!

I have a history with bad shuttle experiances, when I was in the 1st grade I was so anxious and nervous about getting off at the right bus stop, I started walking to the front of the bus before it stopped and the bus driver yelled at me and it scared me so much I peed my pants! SO at least this time was a little bit better... I didn't pee my pants and that's always a plus :)

The "To Do" List

You guys!! I swear I still exist! I have been so MIA lately and I appolagize but you can go ahead and curse midterms for that.... I have been cursing them all week! I am SO ready to be done and I am Soooo close I can taste, smell and FEEL the freedom!! But the closer graduation seems to get the LONGER the "To Do" list seems to get! Lovely....;)

As daunting as my "to do's" seem to be I am trying to remind myself to just flip it the bird sometimes! I mean seriously how much crap can one gal do... I ain't super-woman people! We went to church this weekend and the service was about family but I found a way to connect it to my "to do" list because lately that thing has been weighing HEAVILY {like loaded diaper heavy!} on my mind! Pastor Matt was talking about this guy named Bob... who clearly I need to meet; and how Bob quits something every Thursday. Yup, just flat out up and quits it! I mean EF yeah Bob! And no he doesn't mean, like major huge things like smoking, drinking and the like but just things that have him bogged down, wasting his time, over it! Wow, the thought of that to me was just so freeing, I feel like in our culture there's so much emphasis on following through and finishing; which is definitely not a bad thing and the majority of the time things should be finished and followed through but sometimes I think all of us need to just give these things that are causing us guilt and grief and stress a big old EF YOU!! And ask ourselves "why"?? It means so much to us that we finish it. Who cares if it's finished... does God care?

Paster Matt also introduced me to a new life motto I've given it an acronym because all good things in life are given an acronym - it's called W.A.B. What About Bob and no I am not talking about my favorite quiter Bob from above, I am talking about the movie people - What About Bob the movie!! If you have not seen this amazing movie GO, NOW put the computer down grab your keys and get it it's awesome! But W.A.B is not only an excellent movie, it's now my way of life. It's called baby steps people...say it with me...BABY STEPS!! It seems too simple, but seriously why do we need to complicate things...? I think sometimes it's really helpful when you have a huge daunting "to do" list to just take it one baby step at a time. It feels easier, and then you get to cross more off, which lets face it, that's everyones favorite part about a "to do" list!! And because this is life and there will always be a "to do" list... {I know, it sucks} if we're always burdened and stressing about our lists can we ever just relax and live! Life is for living and not for listing so sometimes that list of ours.... it needs to go to hell!

Thank you so much for all that you have done for me. I could not ask for a more perfect mom for me. You have taught me so many valuable and meaningful things in my life, I can't imagine where or who I would be without your love and guidance all these years. You are my best friend, no one understands me like you and no one just "gets it" like you. You are a natural babe and radiate with beauty from the inside out. You are such a giver, and you are always doing something for someone else to show that person just how loved they are. Everyone that know you knows what an incredible woman you are, how strong and wise and loving you are. We all feel incredibly blessed to have you in our lives. You are amazing at anything you do as we've all witnessed through the years. Anything you take on you are successful at. You are so creative and talented, you give beauty to everything you do. You make people feel at home and loved instantly and you go above and beyond to take care of everyone. You are truly one of a kind and completely irreplaceable, there's no one as amazing to you. Thank you so much for everything you've done for me throughout my 23 years. You never cease to make me feel so loved and taken care of. Happy Weekend Lovers!!

Hallelujah for the weekend... even though mine consists of studying for midterms....:(

Today, I am dreaming of and missing last week/end!

I was in the gorgeous Palm Spring with my dear family and I miss them!!

Why can't we just all live closer?!?!?!

Anyway it was a wonderful family reunion of sorts!

It started on Tuesday at 5:00

that's when I got out of class!

I got a wild hair and decided to drive up to Palm Springs just me and Carlita

{Pat had work and school booo :(}

and SURPRISE my family!!!

And, I am so glad I went for it!

I text my sister-in-love Julie on the way up there just so she could keep me posted on their whereabouts and keep the old farts awake...but somebody just couldn't keep a secret!

cough*JULIE*cough

not to name names ;)

She told my brother Wes

"I know a secret about Kayla"

and of course he said

"SHE'S PREGNANT!"

and she said

"NOooooo!... she's gonna be here in like 15 minutes and she needs a way to get into the gate!"

and so he went out to get more "chasers" and worked over the gate keeper

{flashed her his right boob ;)!!}

to let me in!

SO then I got there and let Wes walk in with Carlita and say "look what I found at the door?!?"

Then everybody got real giddy and smothered me with sloppy kisses and bear hugs! I loved it!

I had so much fun... it is hard to beat the dessert this time of year! The weather was so grand!

Also... I got spoiled rotten with a shopping spree and fine company so that was lovely too!

Can we all just go back?!?!

Wisdom, Wrongs and Whoopie With The Zards!!!

Hello Lovies!!

Yesssss, it is that time again!!

Time for your weekly dose of Wisdom, Wrongs and {every body's favorite ;) } Whoopie!!

The couple we have this week are such dolls!!

I actually think they may be mine and Pat's San Diego couple soul mates!

And trust me people - I DON'T just give that title to anybody!

They're those people that you just instantly feel at home with, so loving, and kind and when we share a laugh {which is the majority of the time!} it makes my heart smile!

When we hang out with these two lovebirds we always have the best of times, we're so at ease with them it feels like we've been best friends for yearsssss!

And boy do I love that!

Gracie and I have actually known each other for years! We went to high school together and her husband Brian is from our neck of the woods too! But I just met him a few months ago!!

Me and Gracie had not seen each other since high school!! I had wanted to meet up with her ever since I found out she was in San Diego but then things would get busy, all of the sudden, weeks, months, YEARS had past and then all the sudden one day I told myself "message Gracie TODAY!!!" So I did and, I am so glad I did because we were reunited and it felt SO good!

And when I met Brian...I realized there could be no one ever more perfect for Gracie. They are one of those awesome couples that just make your heart dance because their love for each other is so authentic and selfless! So pretty much, I love them, I love hanging with them and Brian and Pat get along so well together it's totally cute!

And, I'm sooooo excited for them because they are expecting a little girl this July!!!

{SO SOON!}

She will be gorgeous because she's getting like the best DNA in the world and I am hoping she will rid me of my baby fever!! But who am I kidding.... she ain't gonna break that fever! let's get real now!

1. How long have you been married?

B & G: 2 years

2. What made you realize you could spend the rest of your life with one another?

B & G: When we started dating, we each thought to ourselves that we wanted it to last. It wasn't until one night, about 2 months after we started dating, we had our first true 'deep talk' and shed our first tears together. That night, we each slept restlessly as we each felt so close to each other yet perhaps a little insecure of the others thoughts on the vulnerable evening. The next day was the first day we said "I love you", each realizing in our hearts there was no turning back, or any desire to.

3. What was the best piece of advise you received during your first year married?

B & G: Don't keep secrets because you're on the same team.

4. What is your favorite thing about being married and why?

B & G: The level of intimacy that we share for one another, that even though we feel like we each know the other so deeply, we want to know more about each other.

5. What is your fondest memory throughout your married years?

B & G: #1: The morning we found out we were pregnant. #2: The morning we felt perhaps we might be pregnant while in Vegas for our anniversary.

6. What is the biggest struggle you overcame in your marriage?

B & G: Moving away from our individual families while transitioning into our own family.

7. At the end of a rough relationship day, what is the most important thing to remind yourself?

B & G: We remind ourselves and each other that we're on the same team, and have confidence that other's love goes beyond any situation. As Brian's dad taught us, there are 2 rules to live by: 1) Don't sweat the small stuff. 2) It's all small stuff.

8. What advice would you give to others who are trying to make their love last forever?

B & G: Selflessness. Always remember to make the other person a priority.

9. Where is the most risque place you made whoopie?

B & G: We'd tell you but neither of us can remember.

How in the world does my house make such a mess!

SO RUDE.

It's like I clean it then all of the sudden out of no where BAM it looks like a hurricane whipped through there! Floor- flooded with laundry, Kitchen- wait... where did it go? Just NASTY and MEAN!

You know how clean and organized people say

"everything has a home, and when everything is in it's home then things are put away and neat."

Well here's my problem:

A lot of my things are homeless!

They are nomads you see... here's where I get to use my other favorite quote

"Not all who wander are lost."

Oh really....? Because my shit is more lost than the people on the island!

They wander all over the mutha-effin place! One day my shoes are on the kitchen table, the next buried under a pile of laundry suffocating, Carlita's leash... one day snuggling with the Raisin Bran the next... in the powder room and ohhhh the pepper... well, we still don't know where he wandered off to! Greaaattttt.

My home is too petite to put a roof over all my things heads... so how do you EVER keep things "tidy" when there's no where for them to live!

My things are just all posted up all over the counters and floors begging for a nickel to buy beer or "rescue their family from a bunch of ninjas..."

Have you guys seen that one... ?

Yes... so how did my post about Palm Springs turn into this..? We'll never know. But... it is VERY clear to me right now that I am my fathers daughter because he is OBSESSED with the homeless. We think maybe he was homeless in a past life, of that's his life goal because literally every single place we go he scopes out how the living situation would be for a homeless person there.

I am not kidding!

He's so cute, now he's all excited because he want to get a bus and transport the homeless from Reno to San Diego in the winter months!! Yes, he is weird I know, but we love him! What a giver!

But now I know that this is why I am looking at the homeless signs on 4:00 on a Wednesday...

My Plan Vs. The Days Plan

Hello Lovies!!

Happy Monday....if Monday can ever be happy...?

I have the best case Monday scenario

{At home. on couch. no where to go!!!}

But still... it is Monday and Monday - I hate to break it to ya, butttt you are notorious for just sucking!

Anyway.

Did ya'll have a fabulous weekend?!?!

I don't know where in the world "ya'll" just came from but I'm digging it!

Maybe all the stagecoach instagrams and such are rubbing off on me!

Yesterday was such a failure of a day...

I had plans, i am talking BIG plans to get sh*t done!

And I mean... I had A LOT to do but somehow...none of it got done! The day had other plans for me! And, when the day has other plans for you... you just don't argue! I'm not going to lie I liked the day's plans for me WAYYYYY better than I liked my plans for me so thank you day for pissing all over my plans {why am I using the word pissing so much lately?!!? Not ok.. but I just can't stop!}

So here is my plans VS. the days plan

my plan: wake up at 8 do some light reading {19 novels!!!} about Hitler for my History class

days plan: sleep in till 11:27

my plan: IMMERSE myself in readings about whether or not Hitler's balls dropped...????!!! what kind of class is this?!!?!?

days plan: watch 4 episodes of Lost in jammies

my plan: write 4 blog posts about technology for a class blog

days plan: get a mani pedi with a dear friend :)

my plan: go to church

days plan: get into jammies at 5 and watch Lost on the coach with Pat and Carlita till 10!!!!

my plan: study before bed

days plan: spend the rest of the night drooling over fashion blogs eating a peanut butter brownie!

some things just aren't suppose to happen I guess... and frankly if it's gonna happen like that I'm not going to complain! I mean... I'll feel extremely guilty for "wasting" so much time, but I'd be damned fool to complain about my day yesterday! It was pretty epic!

SO I hope your yesterday was more productive....or...maybe I don't :)

Yes, folks....

It IS that time!!

The time of

Wisdom, Wrongs and {everybodies favorite} Whoopie!!

Today is a good, good day!

This weeks couple is so very near and dear to my heart!

The husband was my VERY first friend, and my VERY first enemy ;)

he's my brother!

And his much prettier half...well, she was my nanny!

And now my sister!

{sounds wayyyyy more scandalous than it really was... she was his girlfriend before my nanny but, I like to make my brother sound like a perve :) I mean what sister doesn't?!?}

The two dolls were high school sweethearts. Young lovers at their finest... and they still are today after over a decade of marriage and two little kiddies!

I love them both to the moon and back!

My brother knows how to push my buttons like no one else but he can also make me laugh till tears so I guess I like him ;) And Julie is as sweet as tupelo honey, she has one of the sweetest soul of ANYONE I know with the perfect hint of sassy! I mean... they just don't make em' better than that! We're all still trying to figure out how Wes got so lucky...

What I love about this interview is they filled it out separately and haven't seen each others answers!!! They've been waiting in suspense for a whole week and now I finally get to share it with them! What makes it EVEN better is I'm with them both right now!! SO I get to hear their laughs and see their smiles!! YAY!

"Our Wedding pictures are hilarious to us. The day of our wedding the lady that did my pre-wedding hair trial didn't show up the day of the wedding to do my hair! So, I didn't get what I wanted at all, neither did my bridesmaids.

Wes has never let anyone else do his hair since the wedding! They messed it up sooo bad. So basically we hate our wedding photos. Maybe one year we can dress up and do it again :-)"

1. How long have you been married?

Julie: We have been together for eleven in a half years and together almost sixteen!!!

Wes: We have been married 11 years 5 months and 21 days.

2. What made you realize you could spend the rest of your life with one another?

Julie: What made me realize I could spend the rest of my life with Wes is the way we get each other and we don't force one another to change into something we are not.

Wes: There is no one time I just always knew. Some things in life are very obvious.

3. What is the best piece of advice you received during your first year of marriage?

Julie: The best piece of advise I received during our first year of marriage is never go to bed angry at each other. We have broken that rule a few times in these eleven years, but we have done pretty well with it.

Wes: Always file your taxes on time, and don't spend more than half your monthly income on your house payment. Most importantly "credit cards are the devil".

4. What is your favorite thing about being married and why?

Julie: My favorite thing about being married is going through this journey together and being so comfortable together ( In a good way, we are like an old married couple). I love it!!

Wes: The longer we are married the more the things change. It was once just being together, then it was making plans together, then it was starting a family, then it was raising a family, and now my favorite thing is seeing all of those things grow and come together just like our marriage.

5. What is your fondest memory throughout your married years?

Julie: Being together since we were in High School you go through a lot of changes together. I can't pin point one fondest moment, but since I have to definitely my wedding day and the day Megan and Wayne were born.

Wes: There are so many great memories that I can't even start to pinpoint one. My favorite times are when we are all enjoying the same activity, weather it's golfing or just hangin around the house.

6. What is the biggest struggle you overcame in your marriage?

Julie: Probably the biggest struggle we overcame in our Relationship not Marriage is for sure our younger years. Figuring each others buttons and which ones NOT to push. Our married life so far so good :-)

Wes: For me it was learning that Julie had a whole other life and family away from ours. Just kidding

7. At the end of a rough relationship day, what is the most important thing to remind yourself?

Julie: At the end of a rough relationship day the most important thing to remind yourself is not to hold GRUDGES and FORGIVE!! (Wes, Kayla, & Shirlee). Sorry to throw names out their but it kind of runs in the family... Lol

Wes: I just have to look around for a second and see what all we have made together, and I realize what I've got.

8. What advice would you give to others that are trying to make their love last forever?

Julie: My advise to others trying to make their love last forever is to always tell the truth no matter what!

Wes: Always tell the truth, and listen to your spouse.

9. Where is the most risque place you made whoopie?

Julie: Hhhhmmmm, whoppie ;-)

In our younger years, at a golf course, thats all I am going to say

Wes: I don't understand the question. I guess Whoopies most risque movie would be the one were she dressed up like a nun...sister act I think it was. ....Please don't use any of this against me when I run for president in 2016

Happy Monday Lovies!!

I have an Un-Godly amount of crap to do this week.

Don't you hate that... those weeks that are just wayyyy to much work and much too little fun?!

But at least I only have 7 more weeks till I am done with school and at least done with school crap ;)

A few weeks ago my dear friend Erica of Acres Of Hope Photography

{who also shot our wedding}

asked us to be her "models" for a mentor shoot with this darling photographer Courtney of Day Photography & Co. Of course we said yes! Because who in the hell turns down an opportunity to be called a "model"?!?!? AND who in the hell turns down incredible photos from Erica?

Crazy folk, that's who! And Pat and I... well we're a lot of things but we aren't crazy!

We had so much fun, laying in the grass, frolicking like hippies!

At least that is the way I would like to remember it... I forgot to wear my hiking boots that day and well, I'm naturally one of the most clumsy people I know so the combination of heals and a rocky terrain well, I'll leave it to your imagination :)

But really we had so much fun!

I love pretending to be a model and Pat's blue steel is really coming along so together we make a lot of awkward and a few amazing faces!

It's pretty neat :)

I love the photos we got! Erica did such an amazing job, but really that is NO surprise!

She has such a God given talent for photography it never ceases to amaze me!

I love getting to do shoots with her because she's such an easy person to be around, getting your photos taken especially for a HUGE occasion like your wedding can be so stressful but she makes it so effortless and fun and then when you see your photos you have to pick your jaw up off the ground because you're shocked at how good she somehow made you look! And not just you but the photo as a whole is just glowing with gorgeousness! The lighting is so heavenly and your skin looks like an angel pissed on it, the trees they are singing, the ground dancing, the way she frames it and the angles... OH MY!! Just amazing!

Since our wedding I've gotten to know Erica better, not only as a photographer but as a friend and she has a heart of gold! She's so sweet, so kind and so at peace with her life it's truly inspiring! I feel very blessed to know her as a friend and completely spoiled to know her as a photographer!

Hello Lovies!!

Today is a very dreamy day over here.

We have our SECOND installation of

Wisdom, Wrongs and Whoopie

Don't think so!

Today we have a DARLING couple, you can't help but fall head over heals for them in a matter of seconds. After I finished reading their interview I couldn't resist just smiling. They're so lovely, so fun and so dang cute! I just want to pinch their cheeks! {too weird?} And besides being so completely scrumptious they are wise beyond their years, I think they are young lovers with old souls, you can really feel the love between them. It gave me butterflies!!

I went to high school with both of them

{They were high school sweethearts!!!}

Jaleen was always such a sweetheart and she always looked fabulous in her cute little A&F outfits!

{A&F was the sh*t at the time ;) }

The only thing I DON'T like about these two is that they live in San Francisco!

Why you gotta be so far away!?!

I know if they loved closer I would probably try and hang out with them 24/7 and be a stage 5 clinger because I'm a little bit obsessed with them so maybe it's a good thing they're in SF :)

And here is their interview answers... grab a tissue and prepare to laugh!!

1. How long have you been married?

Jaleen: We have been married for a little over a year and a half.

Russell: A year and a half (together for 9)

2. What made you realize you could spend the rest of your life with one another?

Jaleen: When we went on a three week national parks road trip in my little VW bug, complete with a tiny two-person tent and stainless steal wine glasses. We camped in below-freezing weather in Yellowstone and melting weather in the Grand Canyon and didn't shower for days at a time. At the end of the trip we looked at each other and said "If we had more money we would go for another 3 weeks". Of course I knew I wanted to marry him long before then, but this experience made me realize that marriage would be the most wonderful adventure.

Russell: Before proposing we had been together for 6 years and although we had normal ups and downs as any other couple does we only grew closer and stronger. I loved everything about her and I knew in my heart that there was nobody else that I would rather share the joys of life with.

3. What was the best piece of advise you received during your first year married?

Jaleen: Hmmm, we have heard it all: "Never go to bed angry", "Fight naked" etc. but my very favorite advice has been to make it a point to pray together.

Russell: This came after we had been married over a year, but the best advice has been “Combine your bank accounts”. Although it was really practical it was extremely important. It wasn’t just a combining of finances but a change of perspective that removed separation and tension in our marriage.

4. What is your favorite thing about being married and why?

Jaleen: In my vows I said that Russell has this way of "showering me with love and putting me in my place all at the same time". I absolutely love the way that he still flirts with me, that he picks me up and hugs me every time he gets home from work, and all that other good stuff. However, the best part about being married is that my husband challenges me every day and we grow together through every life adjustment.

Russell: I love the way she always challenges me and how I can approach every situation knowing that she will be there for me.

5. What is your fondest memory throughout your married years?

Jaleen: My fondest memory has been getting the keys to our tiny apartment in San Francisco, because we had no idea what opportunities would come out of our "new life".

Russell: The day of our wedding was amazing. It stands out to be because we had been together for a while before getting married I didn’t think that marriage would change our relationship much. But marriage has been a great change and that day stands out with such significance and importance that I will never forget how perfect everything was on that day.

6. What is the biggest struggle you overcame in your marriage?

Jaleen: The biggest struggle and the biggest blessing has been moving to San Francisco. We are used to living in small towns, so moving to a city that neither of us new very well was culture shock. I will never forget Russell having to teach me how to ride Muni and BART. But we have come to view our relationship in a completely new and refreshing way. We are high school sweethearts, so after being together for 9 years you think you know each other inside and out. Getting a fresh start by moving to a big city and meeting new friends has challenged us to look at marriage differently.It has always been natural to treat him as my best friend, but now I have learned to view Russell as my husband.

Russell: We have had quite a few struggles throughout our relationship. Many of our struggles came from changing situations and circumstances that arose. We moved to San Francisco after college and also wanted to start a family, two things which were completely foreign to us. We quickly realized that we had very little control and that God placed us in each situation for a reason. Communication and prayer were what held us together and helped us through each situation that arose.

7. At the end of a rough relationship day, what is the most important thing to remind yourself?

Jaleen: That the purpose of marriage is not happiness, but holiness.

Russell: If we have had a disagreement I have to remind myself that no matter how much I believe I am right I need to try to see things from Jaleen’s point of view. Rarely are either of us 100% right about something. Overcoming rough patches is not done alone and selfish thoughts and motives doesn’t make crossing them any faster.

8. What advise would you give to others who are trying to make their love last forever?

Jaleen: 1. Never stop being playful 2. TALK! 3. Find great friends to vent to.

Russell: Marriage is not something that you can enter into to make yourself happy. Although you will find joy and happiness from your relationship and your spouse, but if that is what you rely on then it will be very difficult to face the rough moments of life when they happen.

9. Where is the most risque place you made whoopie?

Jaleen: Hot springs? :)

Are You My Calling?

Hello there lovies!!

Long time no see!

I miss you all!

So these past few months I have been experiencing my first life crisis.

I like to call her my quarter -life crisis.

We've heard all about Mr. Mid-Life crisis over here but quarter-life...well she's highly underrepresented!

So here I am to represent this b*tch!

Unlike mr. mid-life where the men buy red porches and attempt to sleep with women half their age whose skin feels like a baby dolphin and the women molest Julio the pool boy and have so much plastic surgery they start resembling Joan Rivers the quarter life crisis is much less scandalous.

The quarter life crisis is truly depressing, at our age we don't have the money to buy porches and plastic surgery instead we spend our money on paying off school loans and expired parking tickets that have reached an Un-Godly rate!

So. Less. Fabulous. than the mid-life crisis but after all, they do have another quarter of life on me so I guess they've earned their scandal.

In less than 8 weeks I will be a college graduate

{Hopefully}

{I don't want to jinx myself}

Although I do feel accomplished and proud I also feel terrified!

In less than 8 weeks I will be released into the wild.

The career world.

Basically, the Hunger Games of our time.

All competing to the death for a scarce amount of jobs.

What terrifies me more than that is that I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up.

I keep telling myself: "Well, hunny you ARE grown up so you better figure your sh*t out!"

You would think after 19 longgggggg years of schooling I would know. It would be crystal clear. Oh but no no no!

I am CLUELESS I feel like the kindergartner who gets asked what they want to be when they grow up and they say a Doctor or Princess or Astronaut.

Well, can I be a princess?

That sounds about my speed :)

I'm pretty sure I am qualified.

But no.

I may be as clueless as a kindergartner but... I am not as hopeful.

I know, that at this point I cannot be whatever I want.

I could be a lot of things but not whatever I want.

I mean... I heard somewhere that you had to be of Royal Blood to become a princess or marry a prince and all that non-sense.

Way to make a girl jump through a lot of hoops!

So now I am trying to figure out what exactly my calling is.

Somewhere in these 19 years God must have whispered to me or screamed to me at this point what exactly I have been "called" to do.

Did I just not hear him? Did I not want to hear him...?

Am I deaf?

So I am trying to find my calling through process of elimination.

It's like the children's book by P.D. Eastman

"Are You My Mother?"

the dog goes around to all these different animals and asks them "are you my mommy?" they all say no until FINALLY he's reunited with his mommy!

I feel like I am in a very similar process except I am asking

"Are You My Calling?"

Everywhere I go, everything I do I have that in mind now.

When we went on the Brewery Tours for Pat's birthdays I thought

"This is it... I was called to brew beer!"

The other day when me and Pat were rolling up the car windows just enough to get Carlita some fresh air I told Pat to roll the window up more and he said

"No one could fit their hand through there!"

then I showed him with my little fetus hand that indeed someone could fit their hand through there and that's when Pat suggested my calling may be breaking into cars!

So that's some of what we've come up with so far

I will be a beer brewing car thief!

Sounds easy enough ;)

Creamy Vegan Artichoke Dip

Hi! I'm back!

Today me and Carlita are pretending that it's a lazy day.

We're both still in our jammies, cuddled on the couch, but I'm actually digging DEEP for some energy because Pat's family is coming over for a vegan feast tonight and the food well... its not going to make itself and the house... it never cleans up after itself...so rude!

SO I need to get my lazy bum in gear...like yesterday!

But just to put that off for a little while longer I decided to share one of my favorite recipes.

It always impresses my meat eaters!

I stole this recipe from a friend and I have NO intentions on returning it!

So, now I claim it as my own!

It's so good every time i make it I really don't want to share, I would just like to have my way with it in privacy but no such luck!

Creamy Vegan Artichoke Dip

{Vegan AND Gluten free}

To serve 2 people you will need:

* 1 small jar of marinated artichokes - drained

* 1/4 cup Vegenaise

* 1/4 cup nutritional yeast

* 1 clove garlic
* a handful of Daiya cheese

*paprika

{salt and pepper}

Preparation:

* preheat oven to 350

* Drain artichokes, pour into a bowl and mash them into smaller bits

* mix in the vegenaise, nutritional yeast, garlic and handful of daiya cheese
* sprinkle more daiya cheese on top if you like it extra creamy!

* add salt and pepper if you please {I always do :) }

* transfer into an oven safe baking dish and bake for 20 min

While its baking cut bread for dipping or use chips {gluten free if making if GF}

Or get loco and use both!

I prefer sourdough

Remove from oven and sprinkle with paprika.

You guys!!! You guys!! You GUYS!!

I am crushing HARD.

For the first time in a LONG.A$$.TIME.

I have found a band that I am head over heals for!

I usually like one song and then the rest of them are so-so, but NO not this band!

I like it all!

The band is called

F.U.N.

and the song that is currently on repeat over, and OVER again is called

Some Nights.

Maybe you guys already knew that I was obsessed if you are friends with me on FB because Spotify and FB have collaborated to call us over-listeners, on repeat all month people out {thanks fb!} But if anything that should just show you guys how completely obsessed I am with them because of my willingness to spotify them - basically shout off the facebook rooftops that I am obsessed!

This band MADE me get spotify!

You see, I didn't have it, wouldn't have it for so long because I hated that it showed all of facebook what you were listening to! Maybe I wasn't ready for all of my facebook friends to know about my Beiber Fever or soft spot for Bonnie Rate, Ok?!

But, I gave in! I had to get spotify because Pandora would not let me repeat Some Nights even once! Let alone until my neighbors ears bled! And of course I am still WAY to cheap to pay 99 cents for it on iTunes!

{But I am strongly considering it, that should tell you something too!}

So here you have it! Let it be your weekend anthem!

Apparently, they don't have a music video for it yet, but I'd help them make one :)
