The Other Guys: One Night Stand || The Edinburgh Fringe

For the first time ever, The Other Guys will be appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. For one night only, the award winning a cappella group will be doing a special show in Greyfriars Kirk on the 16th August at 19.30.

We wondered how we could ever thank you for your continued support. We wanted to let you know how much we appreciate everything you do; your unwavering support in our every endeavour.

We thought about writing it down, but we released it would sound better sung.

Our new EP is our love letter to you – the fans.

To be released on 8th February it will be out just in time for Valentines and is the perfect gift for that special someone in your life (yes, you can be the special someone in your own life )

New Record Announced for Valentines Release

The Other Guys Chart In The Top 40

TOG, twelve unsigned university students, broke into the UK charts with their original Christmas single ‘Christmas Gets Worse Every Year’. They hit the Scottish top 40, and rocketed to number 3 in the UK Indie Charts.

The Other Guys would like to thank everyone who supported the single and who helped to achieved this unprecedented success.

All profits from the sales of the single are going to the Your 600th Bursary fund to help give others the same opportunity to study at St Andrews as we have done.

The Other Guys perform for Wills and Kate

On the 7th of November 2012, TOG performed to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. TOG were the entertainment at a University of St Andrews fundraiser at Middle Temple, London. The event raised money for student bursaries and scholarships.

Wills and Kate seemed to thoroughly enjoy the performance clapping along and laughing with the rest of the crowd as TOG slow motion ran down the aisles towards the royal couple singing chariots of fire.

If you had said that Christmas Gets Worse Every Year would break 100,000 views in its first week we probably wouldn’t have believed you.

If you had said that support for the campaign would come from Stephen Fry and Eric Whitacre, we could have said you were a fantasist.

If you had said that the song would chart within five days of being on sale in three UK Official Charts, we would have said you were from Mars.

Yet this is the reality. This is where you have got the song and the campaign.

Releasing on Wednesday 5th December, we charted on Sunday 9th in the following charts:

#32 in Scotland

#9 in the UK Independent Singles Chart (alongside Adele!) ,

#3 in the Official Charts Indie Breakers Chart

The support from within the university community and outside it has been fantastic. For this we say a massive THANK YOU.

Yet we firmly believe that we’re not finished yet. We’ve still got a week and a half to push this project even further.

You can help in the following ways:

- Download the song on Amazon and iTunes

- Change your display or Facebook banner photos to those for the campaign (found here: www.facebook.com/standrews.otherguys

- Share the video, but also the download links to Amazon and iTunes.

- Bombard Twitter with the video and #1dream.

- Text, Call and Tweet local and national radio requesting the song. This way we can break into the greater UK consciousness. This is of vital importance

- In particular we’re targeting @achrisevans and @Jamie_Crick of @classicfm – we’ve got a good feeling about both of these.

-As an added request, you could even tweet @StarbucksUK and ask them to add us to their Holiday Playlist!
Together we can push this even further sharing the same #1dream.

Let us also not lose sight of why we are doing it: to offer a genuine, original Christmas song, and to raise important funds aiming to widen university access through bursaries. Read about those here.
