I will start this post with a giant thank you to everyone who has shown interest in Outpost. We are incredibly grateful to have such an invested and vocal audience. To those who are still curious if Outpost is alive, all I can say is yes. We are now making final fixes/enhancements and hoping to submit to the App Store within the next two weeks.

I also would like apologize for the lack of communication for the past several months. We have left many potential customers questioning if the project was cancelled. This was truly a mistake on our part.…

It’s been a while, but I wanted to make sure that you all knew how development has been progressing recently.

In general it’s been fairly slow of late; mostly this is because I’m vacationing with my wife’s family in rural Poland, and it looks like none of the ISPs actually want to do the work involved with giving us a proper internet connection there. Two weeks ago we were told we’d be up & running in two weeks, but we still haven’t received the application paperwork, so it…

Getting the iPhone 3G

So, I managed to get myself an iPhone 3G on Friday, after almost eleven hours of waiting. The Canadian iPhone launch was rather problematic, and this was hampered by limited numbers of the device, and the inability to actually purchase at an Apple store (with all the nice geek porn to look at while waiting). Instead, with Rogers’ insistence on confining the launch to a single store in each major city, most people were convinced (as was I) that this was the only way to guaranteeably get our hands on the device within the next few weeks. It was only…

This in itself is fairly interesting, since as there are no official iPhone applications available yet, one is left to wonder how they know they’re in such a position.

I can’t see it lasting though; if they continue to show their PalmOS roots as they do here, they’ll be the first company to get negative download scores. People will send in requests that the app be removed from the store, because seeing it by accident…

An Expedition

A brief introduction. My name’s David Kaneda and I’m addicted to Basecamp.

Basecamp is a web-based project management application from 37signals. It’s got a whole bunch of features, like messages, to-do’s, milestones, and time tracking — all of which made better by the fact that it’s online and collaborative.

The name Outpost comes as it is a literal remote extension of a basecamp, in terms of an expedition. Outpost will allow users to manage their projects from literally anywhere: at a client’s office, on the train, or even offline, should you be caught on…
