I'm pretty sure he thinks he should be on life support at the moment ... Stayed home from work today and is {REALLY} NEEDY of some attention from this Cottage Gal!

So I'm at home ... Playing nurse to one VERY sick hubs.

Oh and FINALLY getting to that chair I showed y'all last week!

great weekend!

2011-01-30T15:43:00.000-05:00

Y'all I need to send a BIG APOLOGY your way ... The blog has been AWFULLY quiet this weekend!

I've been so busy with the BIG sale at Artisans! We had SUCH great response to The PC which meant lots of sales and LOTS of driving back & forth to restock! Definitely a good problem to have!

Mama & I will be out & about tomorrow getting new things for the stores and of course trying to pick up the latest ideas for Spring!

The weather here is GORGEOUS and has definitely sparked us to start setting up Spring vignettes!

See y'all in a couple of days! Hopefully with FAB NEW FINDS!

WINNER!

2011-01-28T09:59:00.000-05:00

So most of you know that I've been pretty under the weather this week ... Well my spirits were lifted yesterday afternoon at the mailbox ... Now before you start thinking I'm a total WEIRDO ... Let me explain!

Several weeks ago, Cottage & Vine hosted a giveaway ... And one LUCKY winner was to receive this fabulous pillow!

Well y'all guess who that LUCKY winner was?! You got it! ME!

Now I don't typically win ... As in, I've never won anything in my entire life! So not only did I win but I won this FABULOUS pillow from a FABULOUS fellow blogger!

I tested it out yesterday in several spots in my house ...

I think I like it on the loveseat the best ... What do you think?

If you haven't been over to Cottage & Vine, you really should! Rene always has great posts!

So thanks Rene for hosting the giveaway and thanks Fabulous but Frugal for the BEAUTIFUL pillow! :)

Happy Friday Y'all!

{sick cottage girl} and some inspiration!

2011-01-27T07:22:00.000-05:00

Y'all when I woke up yesterday morning, I knew that I wasn't feeling well ... I tried to blame the weather. Turns out this gal is SICK! {ugh! ugh! ugh!}

So although I had EVERY intention of working on lots of projects yesterday ... I only got as far as the couch, my laptop, and LOTS of online browsing.

But in doing so ... I found some GREAT inspirations for all things SPRING! (is anyone else as ready for it as we are?!)

loving the thoughts of going back to using CLOTH table linens!

vintage suitcases

vintage keys

Beatriz Ball for EVERY occasion

pretty daffodils

vintage dough bowls

bright & cheery enamelware

vintage chianti bottles

vintage Pepsi crates as planters

architectural salvage gates

bright tulips

vintage Ball jars (especially BLUE!)

mix & match white dishes

So what do y'all think? Likey? Have any inspirations of your own? Do share them! :)

PS:

Don't forget about the BIG Artisans sale this weekend! 20% off these beauties!

chair makeover {and a sale!}

2011-01-26T09:42:00.000-05:00

I don't know what the weather is where y'all are but here in NC ... it's RAINY & YUCKY!

via

But it's the perfect day for chair makeovers and sewing! :)

Remember all the new fabric I showed y'all a couple weeks ago? I'm getting started with some pillows out of some of those ... Now the hard part is going to be choosing which to use first!

I also found this CUTE little side chair the other day and have BIG things in store for it ...

Can't wait for y'all to see!

So I'm sure y'all are wondering what SALE I'm talking about ... Artisans is having their annual WINTER SALE this Saturday & Sunday! EVERYTHING in the store will be 10% off ... Including everything in The PC ... And those AWESOME farmhouse and Obrien & Shridde frames will be an additional 10% off! These are the perfect Valentine's Day present to get your love (or self!) started with these awesome collections!

So if you've been thinking that a road-trip is in store ... This MIGHT just be the perfect weekend to head to Greenville! :) (hey, worth a shot!)

Happy Wednesday y'all! xo!

{folkart} hand-painted tin signs

2011-01-25T07:39:00.002-05:00

So I did a BRIEF post on these yesterday ... mixed in with the Valentine's Day decor!

But I just didn't think that it showed these incredible signs justice!

Each of these tin signs is hand-painted with the cutest sayings ... And even cooler than that? All of the tin comes from buildings that were destroyed during hurricanes in Florida. What a great way to use materials that most would consider 'waste'! The family that started this company plans to 'keep it small' in fact in their words:

There's only a few of us behind the scenes here at Blackwater - we don't have aspirations at being a mega-business, only to make our mark as a "made in the USA", homegrown kind of company like the kind of small business that used to thrive in our country!

What cool people?!

There are so many different sayings that it's hard to decide which ones to order!

how cute?

fishies

folkart mixed with farmhouse frames

So what do you think? Do you love them as much as we do? :)

Valentine's Day decor

2011-01-24T10:30:00.000-05:00

We <3 Hearts Day!

And I've been searching all over blogland for some great inspiration! And y'all have had some GREAT ideas!

Here are some of my favs ...

Loving this mantle at

And this one from

The simplicity of this mantel is amazing!

How stinkin' cute are these from

That's my Letter

Did anyone make gum wrapper chains as a kid? How cute is this wreath from

Fudge Ripple?!

Everyone's loving burlap right now! And we're LOVING this burlap wreath from

My House of L!

What a great 'fantle' from

Twigs & Twirls!

And finally a TPC feature ...

We're loving these tin folkart signs ...

And at around $20 they're the perfect Vday decor!

So what about you ... Have you seen any Valentine's decor you're L-O-V-I-N-G!?!

Wilson {a photo shoot}

2011-01-23T10:18:00.000-05:00

The other day when I was in Wilson fluffing my booth at Gracie's I thought it would be a great idea to show y'all how cute downtown Wilson was ...

So I strapped my camera on and started walking (thankfully it was a relatively warm day!)

After a few strange looks and several "what ARE you taking pictures of?" ... I think I captured at least SOME of what Wilson has to offer!

Isn't the courthouse gorgeous?

LOVE this remake of a Radio Flyer

downtown Wilson shops

Old churches are so gorgeous to me ... These are on opposite corners downtown.

Sugar Plum Shoppe ... a bakery downtown ... how cute?

Wilson cultural center downtown ... in an old theater building

Feel in love with this old building

Driving in, you're bound to see old barns ... And I happen to LOVE them!

So there you are ... Now you have a taste of Wilson, NC!

I think it's such a cool town ... So if you're ever driving on 264 or 95 ... Be sure to make a stop and check it out! :)

{slightly} sappy

2011-01-21T14:15:00.000-05:00

Ok y'all I need to preface this post ... I'm about to be REAL sappy.

Yes, you caught me ... I'm the MOST mushy-gushy person you'll EVER meet.

And today, I've spent so much time (ALONE) organizing my home office and THINKING about how I'm the luckiest gal in the world.

I have just been given the GREATEST opportunity ever by one of my favorite people in this entire world ... my mama.

Now let me just give y'all a little background on US ... I'm the oldest of 3 girls ... And we have ALL always been exceptionally close AND exceptionally close to our mama. We were so lucky growing up ... our parents were always supportive of us in whatever we chose to do. So when I went to grad school and then decided NOT to use my Masters degree in counseling (the little kids absolutely broke my heart) ALL of my parents (I have 2 FAB step-parents as well) were very supportive and told me to do what would make happy ...

And now ... at age 27, I am WORKING alongside my mother, whom I have always looked up too ... a lady I have always tried to make proud in everything that I do.

So today, I've been thinking about being lucky ... and thankful. And I just wanted to share with all of you ... my bloggie friends!

happy times!

me & mama on my wedding day!

So here's to what is sure to be a GREAT partnership!

Do you have any mother-daughter stories? Or for that matter ANY parent-child stories! Please share ... come on ... I'm feeling SAPPPPPPPPPPPPPY! :)

Happy Friday y'all!

{Gracie's} reveal!

2011-01-20T07:37:00.000-05:00

Ok I know y'all have been waiting {and WAITING!!!} for the Gracie's booth reveal!

So ... I won't make y'all wait ANY longer!

I know it's SO many pics but this booth has SO much to offer!

So ... what do you think?!

{a little} distracted

2011-01-19T10:55:00.000-05:00

In a good way, of course! :)

I woke up this morning to POURING rain ... {ugh}

But it meant that I didn't immediately feel the need to set out and start doing all of the running around I NEED to do!

So instead I made-over those little footstools I showed y'all yesterday!

And I am SERIOUSLY in l-o-v-e! I think they turned out TOO cute!

The little metal one proved to be a little more difficult than I had originally planned ... Had to rip off LAYERS of outdated (yes, that's faded velvet) fabric before I could get that cute new yellow fabric on there! And in my humble opinion ... it turned out INCREDIBLY adorable! :)

My original plan was to re-paint the green one but after I held the honeysuckle color sand dollar fabric up to it, I decided to just give the original color a shot! I like it ... Especially after hitting it with some sandpaper to shabby it up ... just a LITTLE!

What do you think? Would you put one in your house?

Heading to Gracie's now to get better pics of my booth ... The only ones I have right now are on my iPhone and they just don't it justice! I promise they're coming! :)

new finds

2011-01-18T18:18:00.000-05:00

Ok I know y'all are anxiously awaiting the second store reveal ... And I PROMISE the pics are coming soon!

But until then ...

Check out these little cuties that are in desperate need of some TLC from TPC! (gah, I'm such a dork!)

I'm going to tackle these tomorrow ... And of course post pics! :)

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Oh almost forgot! I know that we're still a little while from reaching 100 followers but as soon as we do, we're going to host a giveaway! I already have a item in mind, but don't want to ruin the surprise ... Let's hope we reach 100 soon and then ALL of you fabulous pretties will know! :)

{first} new store reveal!

2011-01-17T08:58:00.000-05:00

Whew, y'all as I'm typing this I am STILL exhausted (and in my pj's ... don't tell anyone) but the stores look A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!

Today I'm going to show y'all the booth at Artisans! We finished this last night RIGHT at closing (and thankfully the sweet gals there let us stay a few minutes longer!)

These before pics are a little tricky ...

Once again got SO excited that I forgot to snap some before ones ... but these are of a different booth that's a little smaller, just so that y'all can see what we were working with!

And the reveal ... :)

Beatriz Ball & partyware

farmhouse frames & Folkart tin signs

slipcovered furniture & so cute pillows

(cute mama cleaning a little after everything is set & looking purty)

(sorry for the blur!)

What do you think?

There are a few more things that I need to add and will be doing that ASAP! But until then ... I'm loving it! :)

PS ...

Also wanted to say a HUGE thank you to Sissie from Sissie's Shabby Cottage for sending so many of you sweetie's over! And a HUGE thanks to all of you who left such sweet comments! They were such spirit boosters at the end of long days this weekend! Hope y'all are liking what you see & will keep coming back! :)

exhausted but EXCITED cottage girlies ...

2011-01-16T11:30:00.000-05:00

Y'all I have been working my mama (and myself ... oh and the Mr.) to the BONE this weekend but things are REALLY REALLY coming together!

I know I promised before & after shots ...

But we got so EXCITED once we pulled the Penske into Gracie's that we totally forgot until we'd already unloaded some things!

But here are some shots of Gracie's looking quite disastrous ...

(cute mama working hard getting that shabby JUST right!)

I can't WAIT to show y'all the finished product! I'm in L-O-V-E! Can't wait to see what you think! :)

Headed out to Artisans again ... See y'all SOON!

our apologies

2011-01-10T19:43:00.000-05:00

Ok y'all I need to send a BIG apology to each & everyone of you ...

I'd like to first say though that we have a REALLY good excuse ...

We're packing ...

and moving ...

to the NEW STORES! :)

YAY!!!

So we won't be around for the next few days .... But I PROMISE (as in PRRRRRRROMISE!) to post pics AS.SOON.AS I have some!

See you soon!

Can it really be true? {ANOTHER new store!}

2011-01-09T08:44:00.000-05:00

Yes, y'all read correctly ... A THIRD Painted Cottage location! This one is in Wilson, NC ... Located in the cutest store ... Gracie's Village Shops!

We met with Gracie herself the other day and y'all she's the CUTEST! She's been in the biz for over 33 years! She's an interior designer and we think her services and our shabby chic-ness is going to meld perfectly together!

The look will be the same as the original TPC and we'll be using a lot of the same inspirations we talked about the other day!

We sign all the papers and move in next week! So stay tuned! :)

FABRIC!

2011-01-08T17:05:00.000-05:00

Y'all we picked up some REALLY great new fabrics the other day and just HAD to share them with you!

Love the red accent in the floral fabric!

Throw a stripe in with these 2 ... LOVE!

We love the mix of these 2 patterns!

Doesn't this one remind you of Pantone's honeysuckle!?!

We are so excited for what Spring is going to have in store for The Painted Cottage ... A new location ... New lines ... More design work!

We hope that you are as excited! (and not TOO terribly overwhelmed with info!)

HOT new color!

2011-01-07T14:02:00.000-05:00

Ok y'all I'm sure that SOMEWHERE on blogland you've seen Pantone's 2011 color of the year ...

via

Honeysuckle!!!

Now, we loved the 2010 color of the year Turquoise!

via

We used turquoise in lots of things this past year and are so excited to start introducing Honeysuckle into our decor!

We can just picture this FAB new color on lots of things ... chairs, pillows, accent walls, dishes, and towels!

Can you?

via

New Year ... New store!

2011-01-06T09:42:00.000-05:00

Y'all I know that we've mentioned before how excited we are about opening the new location .... But I'm not 100% that you understand!

We are THRILLED! :)

Today I'm going to sign all the paperwork ... And the store will be officially open on January 17th!

We've spent countless hours planning out exactly what this space will look like ... Now it's crunch time and we are so ready to slap some paint on the walls and start loading the space FULL of our FAVORITE things!

So a few details ... The store will actually be located in a local store Artisans here in Greenville, NC. Artisans is HUGE ... over 12,000 square feet! (told you ... HUGE!) It's the absolute cutest, with one exception ... It doesn't have any booth with the shabby chic cottage style that The PC has! We are TOO excited to add what we think is a FABULOUS style to this store!

Pics to come soon but until then here are some of our inspirations for the new space ...

We hope you're as excited as we are! :)

More fluff!

2011-01-04T10:09:00.000-05:00

We hope that everyone had the BEST New Year and that y'all are WELL on your way to a wonderful 2011!

Remember fluffing ? Well, Pretty Handy Girl (who we personally think is AWESOME) did a great post on what we would consider fluffing? She seriously changed her master bedroom and all she did was HANG BLINDS!

Seriously y'all NEW BLINDS made a huge difference!

Stay tuned for more from The PC on fluffing & on our new location!

Happy New Year!

2011-01-01T08:20:00.000-05:00

Last 2 days ...

2010-12-31T13:11:00.000-05:00

(well, for the season!)

We're here from 10 until 2 today, 10 until 5 tomorrow! Then we'll be closed for the rest of January!

Well, at least the OIB location ... We're still hard at work on the Greenville location! We can't wait to show you pictures SOON!

Until then ... Has anyone decided if they want their house to be featured for 'fluffing'?!?! It'll be fun y'all!
