What Is Death? Part2

In my 1st opening article, I expressed what it’s like to be hit hard by death. I mentioned as a Certified Research Medium, I am constantly dealing with the subject of death day in and day out. Why does it seem like death is so… final? Is it? Or is it a continuance of consciousness and another state of being or thought? I do have a wonderful update to report though. In the last article I wrote about beloved animals suffering too, and how we took over feeding them and caring for them. Jack, my husband, just showed me pictures of the monkeys in their new enclosures at their new home.  Just as we pictured, spacious out door surroundings and new friends are embracing them. You notice it’s new and so it’s a birthing of newness in their lives and a burden lifted from the shoulders of family members, trying to carry on with death in their lives. I want to take you into true life scenarios that took place in succession just a few months ago. I want you to “feel” though this writing, what it’s like to experience death.

Just at the end of Feb, I had received an e-mail from my sister, my dad had admitted himself into the hospital, and not even his active elderly apt complex, was to divulge this to the family. This was sign #1 You feel something but you push it away.. a fleeting thought maybe he won’t come out? The e-mails continued and we made the  extremely hard decision as a family for my dad to have surgery. In the mean time, prayers were going out to us, and hope was still there, but two calls to my dad really had an impact on me, and just before surgery, he choked out, “I’ve loved you since birth!” I knew it, I felt it, and was able to experience his mom and dad and sister all bathed in reddish light, coming from the other side and looking so very  young, smiling at me and his mom stepped forward to let me know it was not his time, but oh how close it was..

The day after surgery my sister wrote to tell me he had made it through was still on a vent (warning  sign) and of course the nurse told me “he’s in danger” and she meant of passing. Late the next night was an e-mail from my sister… “Stephanie darling, are you there?” Trying to call you but no answer can you call me?” It was so late, I called the next morning. Her voice broke “Dad died last night” No time to think… Tears coming.. ‘Is mom ok?” But how can my mom be ok? Her husband just died! Trying to comfort my sister… my husband and I hug myself trying to “feel” just feel”… More words and silences, and tears and talking to my shattered mother… she repeats like a robot… “Dad is in heaven now, and we’ll see him again someday” Over and over she repeats what she only knows can shield her it’s so unreal… We hang up and calls from relatives pour in… crying on the phone and expressing their grief, and all of us promise “Let’s not let so much time go by , before we see each other again”.. Trying to cope… to eat… to think… not too easy!  “Stephanie!” it’s my dad… his voice is still so LOUD and it provides solace when I cannot think to even understand how to speak or form words out of my mouth.

Jack needs me and the kitties need me, and I know GameCon Radio has just taken me on as a host… and I must do my first show as a tribute to my dad. All my spirituality and strength pour through me and flood into me, filling me with determination and I speak with a voice not my own and can feel the listeners clinging to every word and feeling with me , our pain, and their pain combined.. But their support is tangible… Somehow, I get through my first show entitled “Miracles” and healing begins to happen…you may ask so soon? Yes, it can begin then and even recovery from grief is possible. People write me and ask how you are? And honesty comes out to the surface… and then they know, and of course they are sympathetic, and ask the old question “what can we do?” Of course, what can you say to them, except “Thank you?” “Please just pray for us”…How do you tell people… by the way… I have no words right now?”

You are correct to think in terms of interest.  You may wish to travel abroad.  We suggest strongly to take (a break is the energy) and think more in terms of allowing yourself to visit and explore ancient regions.  You have psychic abilities, why not validate your abilities through allowing yourself to follow your psychic prompts?  This means travel.  You are also advised to begin to think in terms of (got medical energy healing energy).  Just consider writing down your interests that come to you in meditation rather than dismissing your interests and prompts as not possible, begin to explore interests.  In this way, you are prompted toward the correct choice.

What is Death?

In the last almost four months, death has hit my family HARD. I believe this is cathartic, and healing to be able to sit here and Express this in writing, and see it on this page, all that has been inside come pouring out at once. My dad passed in March. It was illness but natural causes. While we were absorbing the shock of it, and coming to some kind of terms with it, a shocking thing over took it. My brother –in law by marriage was murdered, and as if that were not enough, the murder of my husband’s mom long unsolved since 1980  opened back up like a fresh wound for the entire family. Dateline MSNBC hovering in the background waiting for a BIG story, and as I write this they are still.

People were reeling in shock and devastation, animals were howling in disbelief and feelings of abandonment… “Who will feed us?” What about us?” Hey!” this affects us too!”  Just so those of you know who are reading this, I write as I talk, and straightforward to the point… For what other way is there?  We found ourselves putting off a trip to Sedona, to go pick up my dad’s ashes, and putting the murder of the brother in law, center stage.

I resolved something inside me, when my dad passed. I would not stop reaching out to those hurting, and I would not stop sending out healing, and I would do my first radio show two days after his passing, because it would heal me, and help others. I was not trying to be a “hero” but I’ve done spiritual work for almost 40 years, and I can’t stop to grieve… it is not in me. Now that a little time has passed, as a medium I’ve had plenty of time to make contact with all parties, and even had a buddy in the late Peter James helping me. I’ve been helping with my husband’s mom’s murder, and taken on a semi famous murder case of a young girl.

“Oh I’m so sorry, is there anything I can do?” People and friends and even strangers on Facebook, have been so supportive. They all want to do something for you, but what can they do? 1. They can listen. 2. They can listen some more, and 3. Listen again… when you don’t make any sense, and can’t remember things clearly, and you have over 400 e-mails, and can’t answer all of them. Just be there, and let you know they are, and for those of you going through a loss, more than anything, that’s what you need…

After we composed ourselves somewhat, we made the 5 minute trip to the house where the poor animals were waiting. Monkey’s kitties, and dogs and cats all were waiting, and since the family was scattered and no one staying in the “loop” with anyone, we jumped in with both feet, and fed them and loved them, and took over, and somehow, even our own kitties “knew” we were needed, and did not react with hissing or jealousy.

This trip with death, has been amazing. The other day, I unscrambled the word, and found the letters spell hated” How interesting is that? But, as a medium and dealing with death constantly immersed in it’s never ending spell, I realize, hey! It’s going to happen, but its how it’s viewed now, and observed, and researched. For while we suffer in this physical body, the freeing of the soul and the spirit can be heavenly.

We cannot avoid death, but we can understand it, and remove our fear of it, and even embrace it. I think we have huge misconceptions of what death is like, and in the next article I will cover that in more detail.

My question concerns the value of staying a shorter or longer time overseas. I already have enough money to survive at least 2 yeas.

I’m not concerned about the risk of running out of money. This movie is the debut for Katie Feathers and Micah Sloat. The stars of the movie use their own names.

Micah buys a video camera to capture the paranormal activity that is occurring in the home while they sleep & to document some of the daily occurrences related to the activity.

When Katie decides to contact Psychic Mark for answers he comes to the home for a consultation. She reveals that she has been haunted by a demon her whole life who now follows her. The first time she saw it she was eight years old at the end of her bed. Mark tells her that this is not a haunting and to get help from a friend because demons are not his area of expertise. Katie does not call because Micah doesn’t think she needs at first and by the time she does call he is not available.

Micah never takes this is as seriously as he should and even brings home an Ouija board which helps intensify the activity happening in the home. Increasing to the point that Katie no longer wants to stay in the home. Just as Micah agrees it has become apparent it is too late. That the demon leads to Katie becoming possessed.

I found the movie to be a bit slow paced for my taste because for a movie that is almost an hour and half it takes thirty minutes before anything that could be thought of as paranormal was revealed.

Each time another episode occurs it becomes greater in magnitude compared to the last time. Some of the things that occurred might be easily explained while some things would not be able to so easily dismiss or debunk.

The movie style is like “The Blair Witch Project” and many viewers of “Paranormal Activity” thought it was a true story but it is based loosely on some actual events.

I still recommend seeing the movie now available on DVD when you rent or buy it you can see the alternate ending. In fact I am not sure which ending I like better because both are equally disturbing.

This movie is a great movie to watch in the dark because of the many night time scenes for better viewing.

My parents are both deceased. Recently, I have been having many vivid dreams about my father. However, in my dreams it seems I seek him out but can never quite make contact with him. It is just a dream, but still frustrating as there was so much unresolved between us. I wonder if there is some message he is trying to convey, and I’m just not able to understand. I never got to know him too well in this life, and just want to feel that connection with him if possible. What can I do to become more receptive? Interview with Animal Communicator and Author Karen Anderson

Annette: I know this is a general question Karen, but what kinds of things do you think our pets wish we understood about them?

Karen Anderson: First and foremost that they have needs that may be different than our needs.  We sometimes forget they are animals and have a need for being the dog or cat or horse that they are.  We tend to ‘humanize’ them and don’t give their biological, physical or emotional needs priority. I run into a few clients who make sure they are meeting their animal’s requirements but most of us have a long way to go in this area. As much as we like to think of them as our babies we need to remember that they have animal needs too.  Boredom is the number one source of behavior problems.  Make sure you provide good physical and mental stimulation and you will have a harmonious animal family. Brain challenges such as putting part of your dog’s daily ration of kibble in a treat ball. They have to roll it around to get their food.  If you have indoor cats then you are their entertainment center. Make sure you are providing them with something fun, interesting and different.  Don’t leave the same old stuff out.  Cats get bored in about 5 minutes. Rotate empty boxes, bags with no handles or empty cartons for them and take some away to be reintroduced later.  Be creative, most cats are happy with the lid from the hairspray bottle or a ball made out of foil.

Annette: Besides feeding, petting and playing with our animals what other ways can we use to reassure and express our love?

Karen Anderson: Stop stressing out about your animals!  Stress and worry are negative emotions and send out negative waves to our animals.  Turn that negative wave into a positive by shifting your perspective.  I challenge you to stop right now and think of what you are stressing about over an animal. Perhaps an illness, a behavior problem or even if you are leaving town.  Stress and worry can make matters worse.  Think of that song, “Don’t worry, be happy!”.  It’s corny but it’s so true when it comes to our animals.

Annette: I never thought of it that way. I think that is very important to realize how stress and worry in and of itself can be a problem in the relationship with our animals… Is it true that our pets will over time reflect the same types of personality traits as their owners?

Karen Anderson: In some cases yes I think so.  Here is a good rule of thumb.  If you are happy, healthy, balanced and feeling good about yourself, your animals will too.  If you are sad, depressed, angry, unhealthy and feeling bad about yourself…your animals will too.  They are our barometers reflecting back what we put out into the world.

Annette: What is the best way for people to introduce a new animal into the home… especially if there are other pets already?

Karen Anderson: Go slowly.  Most introductions are done way too fast.  Animals are scent oriented and allowing them to smell each other before they actually see each other is the best way to start.  Kittens meeting other kittens or puppies meeting other puppies are usually the exception to this rule.  Remember animals think with animal minds.  Territory, space, food, water, toys, are all claimed by the resident animals.  I use baby gates to separate them too.  Let them smell first then let them see each other with a barrier up so no one can touch the other.  Try to think positive about how you would like them to respect each others space.  When the time is right, after observing their behavior, then they can have monitored ‘visits’.  Take your time and go slowly. The slower the better in most cases.

Annette: Really good to know! Do our animals stay connected to us after they pass on? What generally happens and how do they feel about us if we had to put them to sleep?

Karen Anderson: Absolutely yes our animals stay connected to us.  Even though their physical body may die their soul or energy lives on.  I call it transitioning because it really isn’t dying.  Some animals tell me they feel more alive now than when they were in their bodies.  As for their feelings of being euthanized, this is case by case.  But most of the time the animals are ready to leave their body especially if it is failing them.   They see death and dying as a natural stage in their journey and usually don’t make a big deal about it.  They usually only get upset when their human gets upset.  It does not change their love for us nor do they hold a grudge. Animals are quite forgiving even in the worst cases of abuse or neglect.  We have a lot to learn from them.

Annette: I had to put two of my dogs to sleep and am still traumatized by it. Your answer gave me some comfort. Can anyone develop the ability to communicate with animals?

Karen Anderson: I do believe we all have the ability to learn to to communicate with animals.  However I do believe that some people are just not open to the process so they would not have much success. But if you believe it can happen, are open to the process and love animals then it’s a snap.  Once you learn the steps it’s like any other new skill.  The more you practice the better you get.

Annette: Are you able to receive messages from wild animals and also smaller creatures such as fish or even insects?

Karen Anderson: All animals communicate with me through the same transmission of messages.  Wild animals are no exception.  I think of ‘Christian the lion’ and his love for his two humans.  Even years after returning Christian to the wild he still remembered them and showered them with affection.  All animals are capable of sending messages.  Fish and other aquatic creatures are very interesting to communicate with.  Understanding their world from their perspective has been so rewarding.  I generally don’t communicate with insects much but it is possible.  All living creatures have a soul and it’s the soul I connect with.

Annette: Please tell us a little bit about your book Hear All Creatures and what gave you the idea to write it?

Karen Anderson: My book is an inside look into the hearts and minds of the animals.  I share my first moments communicating with animals and how I learned to understand their messages.  Sometimes they will send me an image or picture of something and it’s up to me to figure it out.  I also included some of my favorite sessions with the animals.  Their incredible and sometimes heart wrenching messages still humble and amaze me. The idea to write a book came to me as I was touring the United States attending psychic fairs and expos. At each show I would speak before and audience and share some of my most recent sessions.  The audiences could not get enough of my stories and would beg for more.  Once I sat down to write it practically wrote itself.  The stories of the animals in the Afterlife seem to be the most popular.  So my next book will highlight some of my favorite sessions from the Other Side.

Annette: What was it like growing up being able to talk to animals and know what they thought and felt?

Karen Anderson: I thought everyone could understand the animals. It wasn’t until I was about 7 or 8 years old that my parents started to discourage me from ‘talking to the dog’. They didn’t quite know what to do with me and figured I had an overactive imagination.  Since I loved animals so much it was very easy to tap into their energy.  I think children are very open to these types of abilities as they don’t know they can’t.  I loved every minute of it and still remember some of the silly conversations I had with them.

Annette: Nice. Have you ever come across an evil animal? Do you believe in people or animals being evil?

Karen Anderson: I have met some very fearful and some extremely aggressive animals but not an evil one.  That is more for the humans in this world.  Animals will generally act out for some kind of instinctual purpose.  They live in the moment and are usually very happy as long as all their needs are met.  If an animal is fearful it is usually because it’s humans are living in the past and keep replaying past events in their minds.  Be in the moment with your animals. They are in a good home with lots of love, food, water and exercise.  Don’t live in the past.  It will help your animals move through their fears.
