We are sorry to inform you that Ian Cole died in Heartlands Hospital early on Monday morning, 30th August. Please remember his father, David and son Liam in your prayers. His funeral service will be held at St Nicholas Church on Friday 17th September at 12 noon.

Harvest Thanksgiving

Harvest Thanksgiving Services will be held on Sunday 3rd October at St Nicholas when the speaker will be Mr Chris Lane from Tearfund, and Sunday 17th October at St Stephen’s. The Harvest Suppers are on Saturday 9th October at Valley [please note the change of date] and Saturday 16th October at St Stephen’s. You are all invited to both!

Harvest Supper at Valley

The Harvest Supper at Valley Church Centre will be on Saturday 9th October, 6.45 pm for a prompt start at 7.00 p.m. ALL welcome, Fish and Chip Supper followed by entertainment and singalong. Adults £6 Child £3. Tickets from Rob Dean Joyce Taylor and Tony Shaw.

Golden Wedding Celebration

Tony and Val Shaw invite their friends at Elmdon to join them after the morning service at St. Nicholas on 12th September for a piece of cake and a drink – also for a blessing during the service on 19th September.

Roger’s Licensing, Thursday 9th September

Cake Sale – Thank You

Following the cake sale last week £202 was sent to Tearfund. Their thank you email says:

Thank you so much, on behalf of those who are benefiting, for your gift of £202.00 which will bring life-saving help to people affected by flooding in Pakistan. Staff from Tearfund partner SSEWA-Pak are distributing food, including a month’s worth of sugar, rice, flour and beans to some of the most vulnerable families in the southern Punjab and lower Sindh. They are also providing basic cooking utensils, plastic sheeting for shelter, and health and hygiene kits. SSEWA-Pak aims to help around 7000 individuals in Sindh Province who have been devastated by the floods. Our work with affected communities will continue into the future, helping them recover, rebuild homes and livelihoods and prepare for future crises.

Please pray for the people affected by this disaster. Pray that those who have lost loved ones, friends and neighbours will know the Lord’s comfort. Pray for the rain and flood waters to relent, and for rescue and humanitarian efforts to reach those in need quickly.

Cake Sale – next Sunday

There will be a Cake Sale after the Parish Communion next Sunday, 29th August 2010, to raise funds for the Pakistan disaster. Offers of cakes and people to buy them most welcome! All proceeds together with any donations will be sent direct to Tearfund towards their relief work in Pakistan.
