I don’t know that I’d want a webcam turned upon me when I’m online…at least not all of the time. Sometimes I just don’t look/feel “ready for my close-up”. But cat-cams would be cool, everyone wants to see cats, at least I think so. I could point it to the top of Sabby’s cat tree, which is not far from the computer. Then visitors could see not only Sabby, but Pumpkin and Little Mitty, who also use the tree. You may even get to see Sabby and Pumpkin fighting over who gets the top shelf.

Maybe I could do a “bed-cam”, too, because the cats spend a lot of the day in our bed. How about a “food bowl-cam”?

But never, ever, a “litterbox cam”. I have more respect for my cats than that, they should be able to make their doo-doos and stuff in privacy! Although I have heard of people who have litterbox cat-cams. Not a good idea!

Anyhoo, if I do put up a cat-cam, you’ll be the first to hear about it!

Somebody annoyed me today by knocking on the door.  I ignored it and waited for whoever it was to go away.  They did.

There is no reason any more for anyone to knock on my door.  I no longer get any important mail here, and I don’t even get packages any more, either.  Anything I want goes to the P.O. box or Mike’s work.

Knocking at the door, for some reason, is even more annoying than the phone ringing.  At least with the phone, I can look at the Caller ID and choose whether or not to answer the call.  But the door…if whoever it is sees me, should I try to peep out the curtain, they will never ever go away.

It was probably someone annoying.  Someone who doesn’t understand the meaning of the “NO SOLICITING” sign on the door.  Maybe it was the Jehovah’s Witnesses, maybe they think that doing the work of the Lord means that my sign does not apply to them.  Yanno, I don’t care what other people believe (or don’t believe), I just wish they’d quit trying to go around converting people.

Also, I can’t access the email on my meowmail account.  Not through Outlook Express, and when I went to try to access it on the web, the site was down.  When you have a little home business, where you rely mostly on email for communication, this is VERY annoying.

Who else wants to annoy me today?  More comment spammers, maybe?  Will the JWs come back?  Will I have yet another hot flash today?

Actually, things have gotten slightly better.  I’m now talking the Prozac every other day, and I have been seeing a reduction in some of the more annoying symptoms, such as the morning sickness.  You read that right…morning sickness.  And no, there is almost no chance that I could be pregnant.  Mike got himself fixed several years ago, for one thing.  And since I’m at the height of menopause, even if the snip failed, it’s still highly unlikely that I could ever conceive now.

Also, I strongly suspect that they did a pregnancy test one of the times I went to the ER.  They did make me pee into a cup, they could have used that for a lot of different things.  All they found was a UTI, though, which was treated with antibiotics.

The A.M. nausea is either a side effect of menopause, or Prozac.  But I haven’t had it the past two days, so maybe a reduced dosage of the not-so-happy pills is working.

I just wish “the change” would finish changing, already.  I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired and cranky.

Now I need to check again and see if I can FINALLY get to my email!

I need more kittens in my life. Time to adopt some new ones that someone else doesn’t want?  Kittehs ARE better than Prozac, right?

After a few good days, things got WORSE.  I get shaky and dizzy and nauseous and sweaty in the morning, and I have to sleep half the day before it passes.  Later in the day, I have been fine.  I can’t drive anymore because of this shit, and I hate it.

Funny thing…they say NOT to drink when using Prozac.  But I always start to feel better, not worse as advertised, when I have a beer at the ball game.  Go figure.

I don’t want doctors, drugs, or any of this shit anymore.  It’s all too much bullshit, well, you are non-compliant about the tests that your insurance won’t pay for, so we won’t do anything else for you, either.  If I can get off of this shit and not have any more anxiety attacks, it will be a good day.

I just want my life back to the way it was before the fucking doctors and shit got involved.

He said it, I didn’t…he mentioned the Clay Buchholz bobblehead giveaway that was advertised a trazillion times on the big screen. He only mentioned it because he knows I love bobbleheads, but wasn’t sure what day of the week it fell on.

August 27…a Wednesday. Sort of a PITA to go up there if Mike has to work. But I had the feeling he would not need much in the way of arm-twisting to ask for the day off, if good seats were indeed still available.

So I decided to leave it up to the interwebs…I would check when we got home, and if “our seats” were available, we were going, and he’d be taking that day off. He has a ton of paid time off on the books, it should not be a problem.

Well, guess what…”our seats” were indeed available. So going to one more Fisher Cats game this season was meant to be! This has to be our favorite minor league franchise ever!

Seriously, it was NOT all that hot today, but I’ve been sweating my ‘nads off for half the day. This is getting really old. What are we gonna do when the weather gets cold, and Mike wants to start cranking up the heat? I’ll be sweating even worse!

On the other hand, if I can get Mike to show a little compassion and dress heavier when it gets cold, so we don’t have to crank the heat up so high, we can save money on our oil bills. Hey, there HAS to be something good about all of this crap!

Hopefully, tomorrow will be better, since we’re going to a Fisher Cats game…the last one of the season for us…sob, sob! Getting out of the house always helps.

We’re going up to Maine for Labor Day weekend…we have a couple of Sea Dogs games to go to. I’d love to also take one of those scenic lighthouse cruises up in Portland while we are there…now they relax me and make me feel a LOT better. It’s also harder to sweat when you are out on the ocean!

Mike’s glasses broke last week. The right earpiece broke off. Then when he glued it back on, the hinge would no longer bend, so he can’t fold them up all the way. He only wears them for reading and close work, he doesn’t need to wear them all the time. So he has to carry them a lot, try carrying them with that earpiece sticking out like that!

When we go out on weekends, I have to carry his glasses in my purse, so he can use them to read the menu at whatever restaurant we go to after the game. This is because we’re usually going to ball games, and he wears a logo T-shirt or sweatshirt with no pocket. When he goes to work, he wears a button-down shirt with a pocket, and he carries them there.

But hell, I can’t put them in my purse now, not without risking breaking the earpiece back off. Luckily, his prescription is one that can actually be bought OTC, from one of those racks of reading glasses at the drugstore. He did pay a lot for the first ones, from the optical shop. So we went to the local CVS today to pick some out, I insisted on coming to make sure he didn’t pick out something that might be ugly enough to embarrass me in public.

Of course, he didn’t like most of the glasses in the store. That’s Mike for you, often very difficult to please. But I managed to spot some that did not look much different from his broken glasses, and of the right strength (+1.50). The lenses were a tiny bit smaller than what he had, which was why he didn’t want them at first. But it was down to either those, or the ugly aviator frames which were bigger. Oh my DOG, those things looked awful.
So he got the ones I liked better, he admitted that they looked better on him, as well. I know he would have had a better selection at an optical shop, but he wanted something to tide him over until we can go and get our eyes examined and all. These will do just fine, he says.

And we saved a little cash here, too…$30 for the glasses and a hard-side case…much cheaper than $100+ at the optician. I wish I could get glasses that cheap, mine cost at least $200.

I bought mussels for dinner from Shaw’s today.  I will cook them in some white wine and herbs, add a little cream at the end, and serve them over pasta.  YUMMIE!

The hotel has free high-speed internet access, and Mike let me use his laptop to blog and surf the ‘net from our room. Very nice computer he’s got…wish it were mine! I didn’t abuse anything, and I did erase my browsing history before he took it back to work. Even though he said he didn’t care!

Anyhoo, pictured is the new case he was given to carry it in…MUCH smaller and lighter than the one he had for the old ‘puter. There’s room not just for the machine, but for the electrical cord, mouse, and mousepad. Neither one of us like using the touchpad thing on laptops, and I was pleased that he had a regular mouse there for me to use.

This one doesn’t hold as much stuph as the bag for his old laptop did. That one was almost as big and heavy as a small suitcase. This one is MUCH smaller and lighter, and serves the purpose well.

Another nice thing about Mike’s new work computer is that it is more up-to-date than his old one was. The boss wanted him to be able to connect to the internet from home. In the wintertime, when there are ginormous snowstorms, he does bring home his computer and work from home. But I refuse to install his complicated, resource-sucking work software on my computer, and, besides, I need my computer for my own work. Yet when I tried to install the Verizon DSL software on his old work computer, it would not install. So much for that idea.

But now that he has a new computer, which obviously worked in the hotel for their high-speed internet service, there should be no reason we can’t install the Verizon DSL software on it. I need to wait until he brings it home again, find the CD, and install it. But first, I need to buy a wireless router, such as the one pictured here. This one is on sale over at Buy.com, with free shipping, maybe I should order it now, before the snow starts a-falling.

Then Mike can use our home internet connection on his work laptop, send and answer emails from the boss, and I can still be online at the same time on my own computer.

Now, all I need to do is find our where the heck I put that Verizon CD…and if I can’t find it, I need to ask for another to be sent.

I am always losing things!

Anyhoo, once he has ‘net access from home on his work laptop, I will feel better, because he can stay at home and work when the weather is bad, and still be in touch with the boss (who probably also works from home when the weather is bad!).

So I’m listening to Paul Perry’s show on WROR, and he likes to read unusual news stories on the air. Normally I listen to XM during the day, but I like his show, so I switch over to that when it comes on. Today he was saying that a study showed that loud music in bars and clubs makes people drink more.

Well, I guess that explains why they have to crank it up so damned loud. Personally, I hate it. We tend to avoid places that have live music, if they are gonna play it that loud. it does NOT make me drink more, it just makes me want to leave and drink someplace else.

At least loud music doesn’t make me kill anyone. Although there have been times where I have been sorely tempted. Especially if it’s three in the morning, and some asshat in a car is blasting the stereo.

I don’t know what it’s like in Lala land, but here, the cops can’t even be arsed to show up any more for noise complaints. I wonder if that was the case, and the poor guy was going crazy and pulled out a gun. I can sort of see where he’s coming from here.

And did you see this? Julia Child was a World War II SPY! I knew she was in this OSS thing during the war, and she met hubby Paul during this stint. Reading her biography led people to believe that she just had a clerical type of job or something, who knew that she was a real spy? Not too many people, not until now. Spying on the bad guys? Cool!

I am also making the BBQ pork from the same show, that goes with it. But I’m not doing it in the oven, no way can I have a 500 degree oven on a day like today. I’m not sure if it really is hot in here, or am I hot flashing again. In any case, I feel hot, even with the A/C on. Not much I can really do about it, though. At least I’m not hot flashing every day, as I was for a while.

Anyhoo, I am cooking the meat in my Crock-Pot BBQ Pit. This is a cool appliance that I bought last summer, and it’s great for slow-cooking big, cheap hunks o’ meat. You don’t get the smoky flavor you would get with a real, outdoor BBQ, but this thing still does a great job.

It’s been cooking for a few hours now, and it smells fantastic. But I think I should have just put the beer in right away. The thing now is that the beer is still cold, and you can’t pour anything cold into the crockery thing when it’s hot. I had taken a Sam Adams out of the fridge a while ago, and it’s still pretty cold. I will have to pour the beer into a Pyrex measuring cup and microwave it, I suppose.

I know the recipe calls for Bass ale, but I don’t have any. I love Bass on tap, but it’s kind of nasty bottled. So I never buy it that way. The only other beer we have in the house is one bottle of Sam Summer Ale, and some Gritty’s Vacationland Ale. So Sam Boston Lager wins here.

Anyhoo, the BBQ Pit thing is nice because it doesn’t heat up the kitchen, and it uses very little power. That means I don’t have to shut off the A/C in order to use it. The wiring in this house is really weird, we have to shut off the A/C before using the microwave or any of my George Foreman appliances. Otherwise the circuit breaker will blow and I have to go downstairs to flip it back on. The pork might have been nice done on my George Foreman rotisserie, but that uses up too much juice, and I can’t have the A/C off for that long. No way, no how. Poor little rotisserie gets no use in the summer.

I’d LOVE to be able to BBQ outside, on a real grill, but not in this neighborhood. This will have to do for now.

I hope Mike’s appointment goes well. He and Dr. Q have sort of an agreement, he will keep writing Mike’s scrips, even though Mike is still refusing the unnecessary surgery and other expensive tests. I need to make a deal like that with my own doctor, in the event that we can’t change insurance come October. But so many employees at Mike’s work have been complaining about the suckiness of Cigna, that chances are good that they will allow us to go back to Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

But you never know with doctors…for all I know, he might suggest that Mike get a pair of MBT shoes to help exercise his muscles more.  Maybe they might be good for me, they look cool and I was thinking of trying them.

I still work out on my stepper machine when I can.  Not today, though, too hot.  I have no idea if I’m losing weight or not, because I don’t weigh myself and don’t know how much I weigh.  You’d think I’d be sweating off the pounds by now, but actually, menopause causes weight GAIN.  I don’t think I’ve gained or lost anything, as my clothes still fit the same way.  I suppose that’s good.

Anyhoo, I have some online work to do today, and I need to get the beer into that BBQ Pit.
