N. Philly Store hit by bullets during shoot-out

Numerous bullets struck the front window of an open for business chinese take-out restaurant at 10th and Cumberland in North Philadelphia, late Monday night. Police believe at least two gunmen were shooting at one another in the intersection. At least three bullets struck the front window of the store, two penetrating through one pane of bullet proof glass, but not the second pane. Bullet fragments became lodged between the panes of glass. Police checked area hospitals to see if any victims arrived on their own, but no one appears to have been wounded in the gunfire.

Medal of Honor recipients honored

Hundreds of people came out to show their support at Heroes Day in the Medal of Honor Grove, located on the grounds of the Freedoms Foundation in Schuylkill Township, Sunday afternoon. Six Medal of Honor recipients were in attendance at the event, they are (from Left to right) Walter Marm, Francis Currey, George Day, Harold Fritz, James Livingston, and Leo Thorsness.

Railroad worker dies at Inquirer / Daily News printing plant

An Upper Merion police officer comforts a rail worker at the scene of a fatal industrial accident at the Philadelphia Media Network printing facility on River Road in Upper Merion Township, Friday morning. A railroad worker who was opening up rail cars on a train which was parked inside of the building, and had a 1,500 pound roll of paper crush him to death. Fire crews from Upper Merion and Norristown responded to remove the victim who was pronounced dead by the Montgomery County Coroner. Philadelphia Media Network is the parent company of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News.
