one other point he makes about that "spare tire" is that it can cause an increase in the amount of estrogen in the body. My breast cancer was ER-Positive, so one of my reasons for going on the Wheat belly diet is to decrease that source of estrogen.

I didn't see the dramatic weight loss that is in the book. However, no more bloating, heartburn, indigestion, irregular bowel, constant feeling of emptyness in my stomach and always feeling like I need to eat something. All of that disappeared in about one week of no wheat or gluten. I do have other health issues, so I thought the lack of weight loss was attributed to medications I am on. I did lose 17 lbs., but needed to lose much more. After almost 2 yrs of being wheat/gluten free I am again losing weight - about 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. a week. I am watching my carbs a little closer. I don't know how long it will last, but I hope it continues. I definitely feel better, have more energy, and don't crave food anymore since eliminating wheat.

I disagree with your closing line: A wheat-free diet could be for everyone and there are so many people who could benefit from it. My whole family is wheat-free thanks to Dr Davis for opening our eyes to what has happened to wheat, essentially during my lifetime. We miss wheat, but the negatives that went along with it were totally eliminated - we feel so much better and lost weight without even trying. My kids haven't minded the change, either - they see their friends at school suffering from too much extra weight and know the effects wheat has on behavior, as well. Everyone should read this book.

I believe that having a month to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness is an excellent choice. I think that if people do not have a day, week, or month to celebrate awareness then it is unlikely people will think about it at all with what they have going on on there life. I have a extremely rare lung disorder and I know that very few people if any know what it is or are looking for a cure. So I believe that having an awareness month is one of the best things being done for Breast Cancer.

I needed to post the situation I have experienced in my area of the country, and perhaps through some other efforts there can be some changes made, and they really need to be looked at more closely.

If you read my post, you willl understand what I am talking about, the struggles have been heartbreaking, and I do not want anyone else to go through what I have experienced.
