What is a Trade Show Model?

According to Wikipedia, a trade show model works a trade show floorspace or booth to represent a company or brand. Trade show models are typically not regular employees of the company, but are freelancers hired by the company renting the booth space.
They are hired for several reasons. Trade show models make a company's booth more visibly distinguishable from the hundreds of other booths with which it competes for attendee attention. Also, trade show models are articulate and quickly learn and explain or disseminate information on the company and its product and service, and can assist a company in handling a large number of attendees which the company might otherwise not have enough employees to accommodate, therefore increasing the number of sales or leads resulting from participation in the show. Trade show models can be skilled at drawing attendees into the booth, engaging them in conversation, and at spurring interest in the product, service, or company. Trade show models may be highly skilled at screening the mass of show attendees for target consumers or at obtaining attendee information so that they may be solicited after the show.

Attire varies and depends on the nature of the show, and on the image the company would like to portray. They may wear a dress, or simple but flattering business attire. They sometimes wear wardrobe that is particular to the company, product, or service represented. The slang term "booth babe" is often used to refer to a trade show model. The term focuses on physical appearance, or specifically on wardrobe, which, depending on the type of trade show, can be thematic or [professional].

While there is no standard physical prerequisite for being a trade show model, clients typically prefer more commercially appealing and attractive models that are between 5'5" and 5'9" in height. Additionally, trade show models must be very articulate & well-spoken, a true people-person, have great presentation skills and able to retain product or company knowledge quickly & accurately. Rates for trade show models vary per company and market and most full-time trade show models are able to make a very decent annual salary with consistent work. Average rates for trade show models with little to no experience in smaller cities can start at $100.00 a day, while models with more experience in larger cities can earn as much as $300.00 a day.

While you were probably out cruising your local shopping mall or catching up on your favorite show on TiVo this weekend... The Pink Light Models were hard at work, at the 2009 Arnold Classic in Columbus, OH. Branded the nation's largest sports & fitness expo and founded by Governor Schwarzenegger himself, the Arnold Classic hosted a variety of vendors, sport & fitness competitions, over 17,000 athletes (far more than the Olymipcs) and over 250,000 visitors.

The Pink Light Agency fitness models were proud ambassadors for Vitamin Shoppe, a national leader in vitamins, nutrional health supplements and herbal remedies. Thanks to our very valuable client, our models and staff who worked to make it all a success. Check out a few photos from the event:
