I'm sharing blue and white with flowers today because of this beautiful photo I received last week. Erin, from Let the Tide Pull Your Dreams Ashore, used this gorgeous jar from my store in her recent wedding. I was beyond thrilled that she used one of my jars AND that she sent me this image. Her wedding was absolutely lovely and you should go here to see other amazing photos from her big day.

Dallas Fort Worth Share Day

My post today is for the DFW peeps. I want to share someone with you. This is a photo from my recently completed One Room Challenge breakfast room. The chandelier was very dark and lacked contrast. I found a painter, Matthew, through a friend who knew he would do a great job. Matthew does faux painting, but had never done a finish like this. I gave him several photos of what I wanted and was thrilled with his execution. He completely transformed my chandelier. When I purchased it at a local consignment store, I imagined it looking exactly as it does now. I cannot recommend Matthew highly enough. I will definitely be calling him again soon. His number is 817-266-1587. If you call him, please tell him you found him through me.

I'm going to share resources frequently here. I'd love information from you, too. Does anyone know of a person who does good gold leafing? What about a good wallpaper installer? Please leave a comment or email me if you have any recommendations. I'd be so very appreciative for some information.

Did you see my post last Wednesday about getting the guest room ready for company? I created a list of items to have in the room for guests. I knew I'd forget something. I also knew you'd have thoughtful tips to share, so asked for suggestions. I'm including an updated list at the end of the post with some of the suggestions I received from you.

Yea or Nay to Navy Walls?

I did a Yea or Nay post last Friday and I'm doing one again today. In fact, it may just be a weekly series. I loved hearing your very strong opinions last week. Which, by the way, I'll discuss at the bottom. So... do you have anything you just adore in photos, but you know you could never live with? That's how I feel about navy walls. While I'm crazy for each of the photos here, I know I'd intensely dislike living with dark paint in my house. Light and bright makes me feel the happiest. I suppose that makes me a yea to navy walls everywhere except my house. Well, where are you? Yea or nay to navy on the walls?

During the summer we're more likely to have guests staying at our house. To be prepared, I'm thinking about what I need to have ready. Obviously, nice linens should be on the bed and in the bath. Here are some of my thoughts.

Yea or Nay?

I've been seeing this for a couple of years now. I'm noticing that I'm seeing it more and more lately. I have my own opinion, but I'd love to hear what you think. I'd also be so appreciative if you'd share the title of a great book you've read recently. We're headed to the bookstore this weekend, and I want to pick up some summer reading. And, YAY it's Friday!

Addendum: I'm so enjoying hearing what everyone has to say on this book color blocking trend. I'm noticing that readers are misinterpreting my intentions. I write above that I already have an opinion. So, I'm not on the fence and trying to decide whether I want to try this or not. I'm just wanting to hear what you think about it.

Do You Have Climbing Roses?

Last spring I had about 20 Pinkies (climbing roses) planted along a fence in our yard. They grew a little last summer, but they're really taking off now and I'm loving watching them grow and bloom. I was doing some research on rose care yesterday and had the idea to ask you for tips. Have you had much experience with roses? Specifically climbers? The Pinkie is an antique rose variety and is supposed to be extremely hardy. Because it's virtually thornless, it's easier to train.

Do you see the amazing orange bar cart in the left foreground? It was designed by Landon Shockey and created by his company The Gilded Stag. It's called the Shaftesbury Cart and it's fantastic.

And here it is again in yellow. These designers were smart to use it. It adds so much to both rooms.

Here's Landon from the feature that At Home in Arkansas did on his furniture company, The Gilded Stag. I lived in Little Rock as a child and have lots of family in the state. It's so interesting for me to think about fine furniture being created in Fayetteville.

The photos above are all from the At Home in Arkansas article. I loved reading about Landon and his new company. His design influences; Chippendale, Sheraton, and Hepplewhite with Chinoiserie thrown in, have me quite interested to see what he does next. Go here to read all about Landon and The Gilded Stag.

Off Topic Tuesday -- Sandal Choices

I just adore shoes and handbags. However, the truth is, I'd rather spend money on things for my house. While I'd love to have these in the pink, the neutral and the gold, I'll just get one pair. These Britton Thong Sandals from Tory Burch are fantastic. Can't you see them dressed up or down? I added the pink because they're so cute I almost can't take it (they have a great wedge heel), but they're not really in the running. I can make a case for both the neutral and the gold. The neutral is more practical and it's gorgeous, but I'm really loving the gold option. What do you think?

This essie polish, mod square, is what I've been wearing for the last week. I think it looks a little bluer and stronger than it does in this image. This will be my polish for the season. It's a gorgeous color of pink and it works with everything I have. It would be fantastic with the sandals above, dont you think?

I Want a Do-Over

We have a Colonial Revival house that would never work with the style of these rooms. And I'm happy with that. I love my house and wouldn't change what I've done. It's just right for me now. But, when I see these images on Pinterest, I want a do-over on one of the apartments I lived in or our first house. If I knew then what I know now, I'd do something similar to these fun, eclectic rooms by Emily Henderson. The mid-century, casual, colorful vibe is something I would have loved.

That I'm redecorating old apartments in my head is probably pretty strange. What about you? Have you ever wanted a design do-over on somewhere you don't live anymore? What would be your direction?

One of my favorite stores to visit here in Dallas is Nicholson-Hardie. I have an outdoor party to attend and went there to purchase the tunic above. I'll wear it with white ankle jeans. Have you seen these tunics from Guru? They were new to me and I really like them. The fit is really great, and the linen quality is wonderful.

Nicholson-Hardie is an interesting store. You can find apparel, fantastic gifts, and beautiful home accessories. They also have a nursery. The below images are photos I took with my phone. This store is maybe two minutes from my house. I could go gaze upon all this beauty every day and not ever get enough.

Pretty soon, impatiens will be all over Dallas. I love them in this color and white, and I'm looking forward to seeing them everywhere.
