The holidays, drafting and honing new standard decks have taken priority I’m afraid. As the Zendikar block starts to fully take shape there will be new articles submitted, of that I have no doubt. In the meantime if any Magic players or fans out there have anything they want to share with the rest of the world submit it for publishing.

They actually work very well together. The first card is Quest for Pure Flame. This is a red, one drop enchantment with text that reads -

    Whenever a source you control deals damage to an opponent, you may put a quest counter on Quest for Pure Flame.
    Remove four quest counters from Quest for Pure Flame and sacrifice it: If any source you control would deal damage to a creature or player this turn, it deals double that damage to that creature or player instead.

    You have to keep on top of this because it could be easy to miss adding a quest counter when you do damage.

    rite of replicationThe second card is Rite of Replication. This card is a 4 drop, 2 islands and 2 colorless with text that reads -

    Put a token onto the battlefield that’s a copy of target creature. If Rite of Replication was kicked, put five of those tokens onto the battlefield instead.

    If you can play these two cards in sort of a combo like I did it just might get you a game win. I had the Quest in play and did damage 4 times over the next few turns and then a few turns later I had enough lands to tap and play the Rite in addition to paying for its kicker cost. This allowed me to put 5 copies of my opponents 2/2 flyer into the game as tokens. He didn’t have a play on his next turn. On my next turn I announced I was removing the 4 quest counters from Quest and then attacked with my 5, 2/2 flyers. He could only block 1 letting 4 of them do damage. This would normally inflict 8 damage but because of the Quest’s ability that says double the damage from any source this turn it did 16 damage. He had been sitting on 15 life so it took him to 0 and me to the win. I’m curious to know anyone else that has had luck with any of the new Zendikar cards in a draft or otherwise.

There have been a couple of new members in that time. However, we here at TPP would love to have some discussion on a couple of Magic the Gathering topics.

    • What are your experiences drafting with the Zendikar expansion set?
    • What specific cards do you like/dislike in Zendikar?
    • Lastly, share some of your deck lists with us, whatever game of Magic they are built for.

    Our hope is that many more Magic the Gathering players register in the very near future so there will be some great discussions and information in the forums. As a side note I was told by a longtime friend and player recently that the forum/site in general does not have much interaction at this point because it is relatively new and no one wants to be the first to post or comment. THAT IS CRAZY! If this is true, please don’t let that stop you from participating. Believe it or not the time and work that went into setting this site up and maintaining it was for a purpose. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
