Dr. Potter will oversee the organization’s campaign efforts throughout the state.

The announcement coincides with the introduction of a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives to create a constitutional amendment that would explicitly protect parents’ rights from government intrusion. Congressman Pete Hoekstra (R-MI), the lead sponsor of the bill, introduced it in the House on March 31, 2009. ParentalRights.org is advocating the bill's passage, and has been working to gain Congressional support. To date, 72 other Congressional leaders have joined in co-sponsoring the bill, including Tennessee Representatives Marsha Blackburn, David Roe, and Zach Wamp.

Dr. Potter will coordinate grassroots awareness events for ParentalRights.org throughout Tennessee, and will meet with parent groups, various school groups, churches, and state government leaders. He is organizing a rally at the state capital building that is tentatively scheduled for mid-July.

A concerned parent, Dr. Potter joined ParentalRights.org because he realized how different families across the nation would become if the right to raise their children were infringed upon by the federal government.

“The right of parents to raise their children has been a part of our nation’s heritage for over 200 years,” he says. “We cannot stand idly by and watch this right be taken from parents who are lovingly nurturing their children in the very values which made our nation great.”

Dr. Potter will be based in Nashville, but will travel throughout Tennessee in the coming months to promote the proposed constitutional amendment. He can be reached at 615-714-0002.

ABOUT PARENTALRIGHTS.ORG
ParentalRights.org exists to secure a constitutional amendment that defends the rights of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children. Without the amendment, the vital child-parent relationship is exposed to imminent danger posed by anti-parent judges within the federal courts and to the risks of international law which seeks to undermine the parental role. The Parental Rights Amendment will ensure that parental rights are preserved as a fundamental constitutional right and the special child-parent relationship is protected and secured for generations to come. Stylist extraordinaire Amy Heimermann is featured in the Jan/Feb 2009 issue of Greater Nashville House & Home Magazine. Amy recently completed a remodel of the Nashville Visitor Information Center located inside the Sommet Center. Stop in and see it for yourself! The music-themed site is nothing less than "way cool". Amy also decorated the event space and merchandise placement for Afternoon Tea with Princess Fumi, a tea social held on January 3rd.

She is styling the event space for Celebration of the Heart, a community mixer to promote heart health, which will be held at Lenox Village on Saturday, February 14. Amy plans to provide the space with the spa feel that will be featured in the future family practice of Dr. Angela Willis, who is hosting Celebration of the Heart and who is moving her family practice to Lenox Village in the summer of 2009.

Amy is also decorating the event space for the Best Buddies Nashville introductory fundraiser event, which will be held at The Factory in Franklin on Friday, March 20, 2009. Founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Best Buddies exists to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. I'm preparing for the spring semester while working on some PR opportunities. Here's an update....

ADASSA BRAND
Thanks to everyone who attended "Afternoon Tea with Princess Fumi". It was a great opportunity for the community to get to know the founder of Adassa Brand and see some of her garments and accessories. Princess Fumi returned to her homeland, Nigeria, last week for her three-week journey that will include meetings with her royal family and community leaders to discuss infrastructure and leadership development opportunities for the youth of Emure Kingdom, which is ruled by Princess Fumi's cousin, King Emmanuel Adebayo. The accompanying team of Americans will arrive in Nigeria this week. To say they are excited is an understatement!

Princess Fumi plans to conduct a photoshoot with some of her designs at her family's royal palace during the trip.

On another note, EMI Gospel recording artist Merche Moore is wearing an Adassa couture gown to the Stellar Awards on January 17. The gown was designed especially for Merche, who is an ambassador for Princess Fumi's Adassa-Adumori Foundation. Look for pictures next week.

RETROPOLITAN
Amy Heimermann is working on her own design projects, one of which is for a well-known music artist. Dr. Willis will be encouraging guests to live heart healthy at Lenox Village's monthly Second Saturday event on February 14. The doc will host her own mini-event there, called "Celebration of the Heart", a meet and greet/mixer event to raise awareness about heart disease, the #1 killer of women in the U.S. Come to meet the doc, learn tips on staying heart healthy, and enter to win great prizes. Second Saturday will also provide live entertainment, a 'chocolate fest', and Mardi Gras king cake and trinkets. Come! Come! This blog will serve to provide you with the latest news from my Marketing/PR clients, and news about me, of course.
Although it's a few days until the start of 2009, it might as well be spring 2009 for me. I'm living in an entirely new season from even a month ago. I just launched Parfait Creative Media because the PR opportunities came, and I couldn't help but oblige (gleefully, of course!).

I'm busy working on a handful of promotional opportunities, but I'll just give you a briefing on a few news events. Hopefully you or someone you know can benefit from this information. Feel free to share The PM Scoop!

AFTERNOON TEA WITH PRINCESS FUMI
at World Cup of Tea in Cool Springs, January 3, 2pm-4pm
**Look for the article on Princess Fumi in The Tennessean/Williamson A.M. this week.**
Princess Fumi Ogunleye is a member of the Adumori Royal Dynasty, which rules the Emure Kingdom in Ekiti State, Nigeria. Princess Fumi, who lives in Spring Hill, TN, recently launched Adassa Brand, which is hosting "Afternoon Tea with Princess Fumi" to introduce the women of Nashville to Adassa Brand and Princess Fumi's non-profit, The Adassa-Adumori Foundation. The foundation will benefit from sales of Adassa Brand merchandise, and will help to develop and support sustainable community projects in third world countries.
This tea social is a meet and greet event only -- no Adassa Brand merchandise will be sold. World Cup of Tea is co-hosting the event, and will serve free tea samples as well as sell tea by the cup or pot. Owner Rosemary Staggs, a passionate tea lover, has traveled all over the world to study tea and is excited about partnering with Adassa Brand to raise awareness about The Adassa-Adumori Foundation's global cause. "Afternoon Tea with Princess Fumi" will be an exciting event to kick off the new year with. The result is a design Amy calls "Music City Pop Modern". Amy was a natural for developing the concept, as music is an integral part of her life: she is married to Grammy and Dove-Award winning producer and songwriter Mark Heimermann. See Amy's home interior styling projects on her website, http://www.retropolitanstyle.com/.

Soon, I'll provide more updates on these talented women and other opportunities in the works.

Thanks for reading!
