I just heard that one of my all-time favorite wedding vendors is having an open house at their brand new Pike Place location tonight, so I wanted to do a quick little feature on them for all of our brides as well as for anyone looking for an amazing accessory (and rainy day backup plan) for their wedding. Bella Umbrella, owned and operated by vintage umbrella aficionado, Jodell Egbert, is THE go-to company for stunning wedding umbrella rentals. We have had the opportunity to photograph her umbrellas on many occassions, and some of our favorite images featuring Bella’s Umbrellas can be seen below. Rentals are extremely affordable, and we recommend that all of our brides consider renting them as a fun and colorful backup plan to a (knock on wood) rainy Seattle wedding day. Mindy & Steve | Modern Seattle Wedding at Pravda Studios

We had been looking forward to Steve & Mindy’s wedding weekend for months. Their wedding weekend was set to kick off with a rehearsal dinner in their brand new Seattle house, and since we knew that they were fellow lovers of modern architecture and design, we were pretty sure that it was going to be a spectacular place. This would be the first time most of their family and friends had seen their house, so they asked us to come early and take some photos for them to share with those who couldn’t make it. We were more than happy to do so, and as you can see, it’s absolutely stunning and (in our humble opinion) is worthy of its own feature in Dwell.

On the wedding day itself, their home served as the perfect backdrop for Mindy to get ready in – Mindy’s gorgeous dark hair and elegant gown were a beautiful contrast to the simplicity and clean lines of their home. She and her girls had a relaxing morning getting ready before heading over to Pravda so she could see Steve for the first time. On the car ride over, I could tell that she was getting nervous, but all of her jitters seemed to melt away the moment she laid eyes on Steve.

One of the things we loved most about Mindy and Steve was how laid back they are – they put a lot of time and effort into planning their wedding, but once their day arrived, they were able just to sit back, enjoy their wine, and relish in the moments with their family and friends. Part of this is the beauty of working with an amazing wedding coordinator like Lisa Chambers who not only helped bring Mindy’s vision for a modern white and purple wedding to life, but she made sure everything went according to plan on the day of. It was a truly perfect weekend, and we loved capturing every single minute of it for Mindy & Steve.

Steve & Ashley | Bellevue Engagement Photography

We absolutely LOVE this session with Steve & Ashley! Several months ago, when we asked them where they might like to have their session, they said “something outdoors, but not necessarily on the water,” and then they told us that they trusted us. Music to our ears! We told them that with their permission, we were going to scout out a new location for their session. After driving around for a couple of hours one afternoon, we happened upon this beautiful pathway near a blueberry farm in Bellevue. We knew immediately that this was the perfect spot for their session!

Fast forward to the day of their session–the skies were blue, the clouds fluffy white, and the sun was shining bright. It was the PERFECT Northwest day! On top of that, they are a totally photogenic couple who brought along their adorable puppy Weber for part of the shoot. We honestly couldn’t be more thrilled with their photos and we are excited to share them with you!

Steve and Ashley, we are so happy for you, and we can’t wait for your wedding at Roche Harbor this June!

Amazing Pacific Northwest Sunset

We took a photo of the sunset tonight from our back porch and just had to share it. It’s so nice to be reminded of how lucky we are to live in the Pacific Northwest! True, the winters can be long and grey, but that only helps us appreciate the beautiful days that much more.

When our church called and asked us to do some photoshoots of a few families at our church, we honestly couldn’t have been more excited! As we pondered locations for each of the photo sessions, we just knew that Railroad Park in downtown Snoqualmie, WA would be the perfect location for this sweet little family’s lifestyle session. Adorable 2-year old Hayden (I just LOVE her name!) was full of energy and smiles, and we had so much fun capturing photos of this family’s love for each other. Mindy & Steve | Ballard and Golden Gardens Engagement Session | Seattle, WA

If you’ve ever used the phrase “the mountains are out,” you are probably from the Pacific Northwest. It’s usually uttered from the smiling lips of someone soaking up the sunshine on an unusually beautiful day in Seattle. We don’t get to see the winter sun very often around here, so when the mountains do come out, it’s only polite to let everyone know so that they won’t miss it!

A few weeks ago, we met up with Mindy and Steve for their engagement session and were thrilled to see that the mountains were out in all their glory! Not only that, but we had Golden Gardens and some of our favorite spots in Ballard all to ourselves. We loved spending the quiet morning with these two–there is so much warmth and joy in their relationship and I feel like these photos capture it all. Mindy & Steve, thank you for trusting us, and we can’t wait to capture your wedding at Pravda in one short month! :)

Engagement Session | Juli & Dale | Burlington, North Carolina

Every November, Airika and I go to North Carolina to visit my family, do a little fishing, shoot some guns, and help out with a few chores around my Granddad’s farm in Burlington. This year was no different, except that somewhere in between all of these activities on the farm, we squeezed in an engagement session for my youngest brother Dale and his new fiance Juli! I really can’t express just how excited we are to add Juli to the family–she’s great! Dale, I know we may have given you a hard time over the years, but clearly your good taste and patience have paid off. ;) We love you guys, and I can’t wait to stand up there with you on April 28th!

The Spring Issue of Seattle Bride Magazine just hit shelves, and Sarah and Sam’s Wedding at Treehouse Point has been featured in their Real Wedding section! Seattle Bride is one of our favorite local wedding magazines, and it’s a huge honor to be included as they only run 12 full features on real weddings each year. Thank you to our couple, Sarah & Sam, for going along with all of our artistic whims, to Kate Calamusa and the entire staff at Seattle bride for selecting their wedding, and to the amazing team of vendors (especially Herban Feast, Lisa Chambers of Chambers & Company, Bella Rugosa , Paper Moxie and New Renaissance) who helped make the day so magical. We had a great time working with all of you and can’t wait to do it again!
