JUNK BONANZA Spring 2013

Thank you to everyone for a grand experience and all the great energy at the Spring JUNK BONANZA!

Once again, more able help and work than you can imagine. Kari and Doris (find them at Kari's shop: Past Perfect) spent a full day staging, with awesome results.

If you think about it, it's a great lesson in layering and stacking by color, texture, size and style~

You can see Kari in the bottom/center of the mirror - planning what to do next.

Always the details - vintage wallpaper as a runner/rug under the furniture

So much stacked and layered in one space - I wondered if everything could be seen and found --- it was!

The event: April in PARIS 2013

It was one of those grand times that days later still brings a smile to your face~ I'm feeling amazed at the smiling, very happy guests we hosted here on Saturday April 13. Merci beaucoup to each of you~

The weather has been dreary and chilly here (in Minnesota), so it was a fun getaway day!

At one of our 'wait' stations in the Atelier-turned-bistro, a photo of a favorite bistro station at la Terrasse, PARIS. Just looking at the photo takes you there - and don't you think it feels timeless?

Ooh la la - the entree', savory tomato/red pepper tarts. Read the French description on the menu above - everything sounds so much better ala francais, mais oui?

Shopping, the fabulous meal, dessert, prizes - then to the third floor apartment!

I loved hosting everyone in my third floor home - you were all so complimentary and appreciative - oh my!

Paris 'on a dime' I call it. Epicerie (grocery store) candles. Bring them home, cut the label off the box, all goes into a favorite jar - eh voila, I smile when I see this~

This pretty much represents April in Minnesota right now: a fresh perennial (flax?) in an urn, wrapped in a dried ivy wreathlet with faux lily of the valley tucked in.

Office, off the salon - corner window to the left is over the Atelier entrance. We've been wrapping some of the walls in old tin.

Lots of comments and talk on Saturday - newly staged prints on the bedroom wall. I've always wanted to do it, and had all of the prints (stacked on the floor!). When in Paris, I was inspired when at the Musee' Gustave Moreau. Check out the photos of his home - you'll see what I mean.

Merci beaucoup to all of our guests, and to the friends and family who made the event happen! Erika Pirness of Portrait Lane graciously snapped photos all day, so what you're seeing now is just a teaser - more to come!

Merci beaucoup - we had a wonderful APRIL Market here this past week. We appreciate each and every one of you who follow us with this blog, or Facebook, or visit in person. We love your smiles~

The Atelier has scheduling changes in APRIL. Normally open each Th/Fr/Sa during the month, Atelier is closed Saturday April 13 for our April in PARIS event and April 18-19-20 for JUNK BONANZA (bonus shopping day: open Sat April 13 in the lower PORCH level)

We're celebrating at our April in PARIS event, and bringing France home to you~ If you aren't attending, treat yourself to a little 'PARIS pink', OK?

Here we are, anxious for our April Market at The PORCH & Atelier. Are you?

So, if we appear relaxed this morning, good - we like to project the image that all is calm and easy 'behind-the-scenes'~

Maybe not. The 'behind-the-scenes' is going to get messy (and heavy)~

But, you can dress up any work day with a scarf~

and plants make it all so fresh, too

Then, start the day hanging linens to dry

that's not so bad....

Later, wrap up the day with the greatest feeling of accomplishment, and contentment in loving what you do~

Dawn (thank you), good friend of The PORCH & Atelier, emailed to tell me my living room was on the Country Living website. Under the slideshow title 'Living Rooms we Love', here it is at slide #47!

In March 2010, Country Living magazine featured this great old building in a six page spread, and we are forever grateful for the opportunity and experience. The photos still show up here and there, and even though a lot of decor has changed over the past three years, it's still this wonderful beautiful special place to be.

Our February Market is a wrap. It's been the 'sale I leave for PARIS after', and here we are~

Feeling all kind of fine and ruffly today!

Twinkly excited, as the tour Eiffel at night - it sparkles on the hour!

Can't wait to visit favorite restaurants~

Admire architecture - eye candy is everywhere~

Return to a favorite shopping area in the Village St. Paul

Stop for cafe' or wine when we feel like it

Ooh and aahh at every turn

'Bonjour Madame DeJarlais'

Half the fun is finding your way around

And, ooh, we'll be flea marketing at least two days while there~

And bringing back what we can - for you - but of course~

February 2013 Market PREVIEW; part 2~

Let's start the February Market preview with lower level shop photos, OK?

Color, color, and we love it! We're full of all sizes of furniture. One of the things that makes The PORCH & Atelier unique? There are several talented people here with me, and each has their own great style.

Three pieces (by Lisa) in a pretty, soft green with a smooth/sealed finish. Gorgeous!

And, there is Lynn - with her awesome mix of industrial - then, color and more - in the photo below~

We're getting to each of Miss Mustard Seed's paints, and the latest we've painted is Luckett's Green. How FRESH for right now!

Lots of ways to bring green into your space - so I couldn't resist this shot of books here right now. The bittersweet is still hanging around, ready for the workshop - I have plans for it....more on that later.

This sun porch with curved ceiling rafters was in one of my favorite estate sale homes in April 2012 - LOVE.
