$75,590 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera

When you think of a Porsche there is one model that more than likely comes to mind, the Porsche 911. It is the sports car that all other sports cars are measured against.

This 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera has most the modern advancements that you would like in a 911. With just over 66,000 miles on the 3.0-liter twin turbocharger flat-six there is still a lot of fun to be had racking up the miles.

The 991.2 generation of the 911 Carrera was the first 911 generation to have the Carrera feature a turbocharged power plant. While the GT3 gets alll the headlines the base Carrera with its 370 horsepower which is just about perfect on the road.

This 911 has the PDK transmission which offers lightning fast shifts. While the manual offers an engaging driving experience, having driven PDK equipped Porsches on the track, from a pure performance perspective, the PDK is the best transmission.

This car looks clean and is available from Carvana. The thing to know with Carvana is you can’t do a pre-purchase inspection before the purchase. However, they do have a seven day money back guarantee, so you could have an independent shop inspect it after the purchase within that seven days.

Full disclosure, this is NOT a paid advertisement (but I can always hope to get paid to look at cars for sale in the future).

Take a look at the full listing here.

$10,200 1999 Porsche Boxster

One of the wonderful things about Porsche is that there is an option for just about any budget. Sure a new Porsche 911 will cost north of $100,000, but on the used market you can get one of yesterdays best sports cars for a very reasonable price.

The 1999 Porsche Boxster may only offer 205 horsepower from a 2.5 liter flat-six engine. But with it being a lightweight roadster it’s a joy to drive, especially the manual transmission cars. With a tasteful exhaust upgrade it gets even more fun to carve up a back road.

I daily drove a 986 generation 1999 Porsche Boxster for over six years. Overall during that time mine was extremely dependable. It was also fairly easy to work on and I did all the maintenance myself, which made the ownership very affordable.

In today’s world of cars that feel less and less analog, the early Porsche Boxster offers the simple pleasure of a fun drive with the wind in your hair, neutral handling and steering feel that is like nothing you can buy today.

As someone that tends to look at car listings to window shop on the daily, this manual 1999 Porsche Boxster for just over $10K looks like a tempting buy. Of course asking about maintenance records and getting a pre-purchase inspection is always a smart idea before any purchase.

Full disclosure, this is NOT a paid advertisement (but I can always hope to get paid to look at cars for sale in the future).

I’ve been watching Ferrari carefully over the years, and every once in a while they drop something that feels like a true reset button. The brand-new 849 Testarossa is one of those cars. It’s more than just another hypercar—it’s a revival of a legendary nameplate, built with the bleeding edge of Ferrari’s hybrid performance technology.

The Heritage

The Testarossa badge isn’t new. It first showed up in 1956 on Ferrari’s racing machines, named after the red-painted cam covers, and of course, it went on to define the ’80s with one of the most recognizable road-going Ferraris ever. To see Maranello bring it back now—attached to their most advanced supercar—is a statement. This is Ferrari reminding the world they still know how to mix heritage with innovation.

The Powertrain

Underneath the sculpted body sits a 3.9L twin-turbo V8 paired with three electric motors. Combined output? A mind-bending 1,050 horsepower. That’s 50 hp more than the SF90 Stradale it replaces. 0–60 happens in under 2.3 seconds, and top speed clears 205 mph. What makes it even more impressive is the seamless integration of hybrid tech—not just for efficiency, but to make the car sharper, quicker, and more alive in every driving mode.

The Design

Ferrari’s design language has always been about balancing form and function, and the 849 Testarossa pushes that further. The rear end, with its double-tail architecture, nods to Ferrari’s ’70s prototypes, while the sharp geometric lines give it a futuristic stance. The aero is functional too—415 kg of downforce at speed, with cooling efficiency up by 15% compared to the SF90. It’s Ferrari’s way of making nostalgia feel modern.

The Driving Feel

Ferrari tuned this car around five key sensations: acceleration, braking, gear changes, handling, and sound. And while I haven’t had the keys (yet), everything about the engineering suggests it’s a car that pulls you in and keeps you engaged. The ABS Evo system, revised suspension, and torque-vectoring AWD make it predictable but never dull. And the sound? Ferrari reworked the V8’s timbre to make sure it still sings at 8,300 rpm.

Living With It

Owning a Ferrari like this isn’t just about numbers on a spec sheet. The 849 Testarossa comes with 7 years of included maintenance, plus extended hybrid component warranties that can stretch out to 16 years. For a car this complex, that’s a huge peace of mind. And for collectors, the fact that it’s reviving such an iconic name almost guarantees it’s going to be a future classic.

The Special Touches

Ferrari being Ferrari, they’ve also put together the Assetto Fiorano package—a lighter, track-focused spec with carbon fiber, titanium, Multimatic dampers, and Michelin Cup 2 tires. Oh, and there’s an exclusive two-tone racing livery available, just in case the standard look wasn’t wild enough.

Final Thoughts

The 849 Testarossa isn’t just another fast car. It’s a bridge between Ferrari’s racing DNA, their hybrid future, and the history that made the nameplate so unforgettable. For those of us who grew up with posters of the original Testarossa, this feels like a modern love letter from Maranello.

Lamborghini has always thrived on building cars that go beyond the expected, and its latest creation is no exception. The Lamborghini Fenomeno is a limited-edition hypercar restricted to just 29 units worldwide, unveiled at Monterey Car Week 2025. It blends the drama of a naturally aspirated V12 with the cutting edge of hybrid technology, creating what may be the most extreme Lamborghini ever built.

Lamborghini Fenomeno Price and Exclusivity

Lamborghini hasn’t officially announced the price of the Fenomeno, but given its rarity and technology, it will likely sit in the multi-million-dollar range. Previous few-off models like the Veneno and Centenario quickly became collector’s items, and the Fenomeno is destined to follow the same path. With only 29 cars planned, exclusivity is guaranteed.

Lamborghini Fenomeno Performance Specs

The Fenomeno is powered by a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 paired with three electric motors. Together, they deliver 1,065 horsepower and a driving experience unlike anything else in Lamborghini’s history.

Horsepower: 1,065 hp (824 hp from V12 + 241 hp from electric motors)

Torque (V12 only): 535 lb-ft

Redline: 9,500 rpm

0–62 mph: 2.4 seconds

0–124 mph: 6.7 seconds

Top speed: 217+ mph

Weight-to-power ratio: 3.6 lb/hp

This makes the Fenomeno the fastest Lamborghini ever built, quicker than any Aventador, Sián, or even the track-only Essenza SCV12.

Lamborghini Fenomeno Engine and Hybrid System

At its core, the Fenomeno stays true to Lamborghini tradition with a screaming V12 engine. But what sets it apart is the hybrid system designed not to tame the car, but to make it even more ferocious.

Two front-mounted electric motors provide all-wheel-drive capability, torque vectoring, and regenerative braking.

A rear-mounted electric motor sits above the 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, boosting performance and enabling short bursts of all-electric driving.

A 7 kWh battery is mounted in the central tunnel, keeping weight low and balanced.

This hybrid approach allows the Fenomeno to deliver maximum performance while adding agility and responsiveness usually reserved for racing prototypes.

Lamborghini Fenomeno Design

Lamborghini calls the Fenomeno a “design manifesto”, celebrating 20 years of Centro Stile, its in-house design studio. The look is instantly Lamborghini but takes the long-tail silhouette into new territory.

Highlights include:

A bold front with racing-inspired air intakes and DRLs shaped like bull horns.

A continuous single line defining the profile from nose to tail.

Vertical Y-shaped taillights framing an aggressive carbon-fiber diffuser.

An active omega-shaped rear wing for stability at high speed.

Debut of Lamborghini’s updated 2024 logo.

The launch color, Giallo Crius (yellow), emphasizes the muscular upper body while contrasting with the raw carbon fiber aero elements below.

Lamborghini Fenomeno Aerodynamics

Every curve of the Fenomeno serves an aerodynamic purpose. Lamborghini engineered the car to be as efficient on the track as it is striking to look at.

S-Duct system increases front downforce.

Roof channels direct air to the engine and active rear wing.

Redesigned doors act as functional aero elements, feeding more air into the side intakes.

Side cooling is 30% more efficient than previous Lamborghini V12 models.

The result is a car that stays planted at extreme speeds while maintaining Lamborghini’s signature drama.

Lamborghini Fenomeno Interior

Inside, the Fenomeno embraces Lamborghini’s “Feel like a pilot” philosophy. The cabin is stripped down and futuristic, with an emphasis on the driving experience.

Three digital screens replace most physical controls.

Carbon fiber bucket seats and trim throughout.

3D-printed air vents for reduced weight and futuristic design.

Custom ambient lighting enhances the spaceship-like vibe.

Through the Ad Personam program, buyers can choose from over 400 exterior colors and nearly limitless interior combinations, ensuring no two Fenomenos are alike.

Lamborghini Fenomeno Tires and Brakes

Bridgestone developed custom Potenza Sport tires for the Fenomeno, with both high-performance road and semi-slick track options. Sizes are:

Front: 265/30 R21

Rear: 355/25 R22

Braking is handled by Lamborghini’s new CCM-R Plus carbon-ceramic system, inspired by its LMDh race cars. The brakes use advanced carbon fiber structures to deliver racing-level stopping power with reduced fade and longer durability.

Lamborghini Fenomeno and Lamborghini’s Few-Off Legacy

The Fenomeno joins Lamborghini’s exclusive family of few-off models that include:

Reventón (2007)

Sesto Elemento (2010)

Veneno (2013)

Centenario (2016)

Sián (2019)

Countach LPI 800-4 (2021)

Its name comes from a famous fighting bull, Fenomeno, pardoned in Morelia, Mexico, in 2002 for its bravery. True to its name, the car represents something phenomenal — both in performance and design.

Lamborghini Fenomeno FAQ

How much does the Lamborghini Fenomeno cost?

Lamborghini hasn’t revealed official pricing, but given its exclusivity and performance, experts estimate a price between $3 million and $5 million, depending on customization.

How many Lamborghini Fenomenos will be made?

Production is limited to just 29 cars, making it one of the rarest Lamborghinis ever built.

What engine is in the Lamborghini Fenomeno?

It features a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 paired with three electric motors, producing a combined 1,065 horsepower.

How fast is the Lamborghini Fenomeno?

The Fenomeno is Lamborghini’s fastest car ever, with a 0–62 mph time of 2.4 seconds and a top speed of over 217 mph.

What does Fenomeno mean?

The name comes from a legendary bull that was pardoned in Mexico for its bravery. In both Italian and Spanish, “Fenomeno” translates to “phenomenal”, symbolizing something extraordinary and unique.

Final Thoughts: A True Phenomenon

The Lamborghini Fenomeno isn’t just a car — it’s a statement. With its record-breaking V12 hybrid system, groundbreaking aerodynamics, and otherworldly design, it pushes Lamborghini’s legacy into the future while staying true to its roots.

For enthusiasts, it’s the kind of car that keeps the dream alive. Most of us will never drive one, but just knowing it exists reminds us why Lamborghini continues to be one of the most daring carmakers in the world.

A phenomenon in name, and by every measure, in nature.

Why the Turbo S Still Defines the 911 Legacy

The Porsche 911 has always been about evolution, not revolution. Each generation builds on what came before it, finding that perfect balance between performance, comfort, and everyday usability. But with the 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S, Porsche has redefined the idea of what a supercar can be.

2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S Horsepower and Performance Specs

The numbers are staggering: 701 horsepower from a new T-Hybrid powertrain with twin electric turbos. That makes this the most powerful production 911 in history.

0–60 mph in 2.4 seconds

Top speed of 200 mph

Nürburgring lap time: 7:03.92 (14 seconds faster than its predecessor)

This is hypercar-level performance in a car that you can still daily drive.

Handling and Brakes: Built to Match the Power

Performance is nothing without control, and Porsche engineered the Turbo S to deliver both.

Chassis: New electro-hydraulic Dynamic Chassis Control for sharper handling

Tires: Wider 325/30 ZR 21 rear tires for more grip

Brakes: Largest ceramic brake system ever fitted to a two-door Porsche

Despite gaining 180 lbs., the car feels more agile and composed thanks to these upgrades.

Design and Aerodynamics: Aggressive but Refined

The 2026 911 Turbo S design stands out with:

Wider fenders and larger intakes

Active aero reducing drag by up to 10%

New Turbonite trim exclusive to Turbo models

Titanium exhaust tips and center-lock wheels

It’s a car that communicates power without shouting.

Interior: Luxury Meets Performance

Inside, Porsche balances comfort and purpose:

18-way Sport Seats Plus with memory

Carbon fiber trim and Turbonite accents

Titanium sport exhaust soundtrack

Tech-packed cabin with modern convenience features

The cabin is a reminder that the Turbo S is meant to be driven every day — and enjoyed every mile.

2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S Price and Release Date

The new Turbo S commands flagship pricing:

Coupe MSRP: $270,300

Cabriolet MSRP: $284,300

U.S. arrival in Spring 2026

Conclusion: The Most Complete 911 Yet

Plenty of cars boast massive horsepower or impressive lap times. But the 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S delivers both while remaining refined, comfortable, and usable day to day. That’s what has always set the Turbo S apart — and now, Porsche has taken it to the highest level yet.

It’s not just the most powerful 911 ever built. It may be the most complete sports car on the planet.

DIY: Porsche 911 (996) Performance Exhaust Install

The standard exhaust setup in the 996 generation Porsche 911 is a bit lacking unless the Porsche Sports Exhaust option was ticked.

Fortunately, there are a number of exhaust upgrades available. One of the easiest modifications is to change the mufflers / silencers to allow for a better exhaust note.

This guide shows how to remove the stock mufflers on a 996 generation Porsche 911 and reinstall them with a Sports Exhaust.

This guide details the Fister Sport Exhaust install process. The Fister Sport Exhaust involves adding an additional connecting pipe to the original mufflers. It is also possible to have this done by a local muffler shop.

Another similar option is known as the Gundo hack wich involves a use connecting a longer piece of pipe to outer portion of the muffler. This design is based off of the factory Porsche Sports Exhaust, but does not include the valves that the factory system includes.

The steps will be similar for other sports exhaust options that use the factory mounting points. Some options may use other mounting points, so be sure to review any information provided by the manufacturer for proper mounting.

Overview

The upgrade transforms a base 996 exhaust into a sportier system with better sound but without the heavy drone typical of aftermarket systems. Expect a deeper tone and a hint of early GT3 character.

Difficulty: Moderate (basic tools & bumper removal required)

Time Required: 4–6 hours including bumper removal (plus shipping wait)

Cost: ~$600–$1,000 depending on shipping and modification

I’ve owned my 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera for over five years now. The car that was at one time the cheapest Porsche 911 in the country was certainly a gamble.

Owning any 25 year old vehicle is going to have its ups and downs.

This old 911 has proven overall dependable and has been a fun project. The car is slowly undergoing a transformation that is intended to make it the ultimate 996 build (at least for my taste).

Beyond regular maintenance, I’ve installed an infotainment system to allow for Apple Car Play to be used.

But the big change is a Fister Sport Exhaus which makes it a more involving driving experience. I have a number of additional performance related changes coming, but the 25 year old car has provided a great platform to enjoy every chance I get.

Watch this video for full details on the maintenance that has been done including how much I’ve spent. I also explain how this old 911 feels when you drive it. After watching let me know in the comments what you think of the 996 generation Porsche 911.

Changing engine mounts is often thought of as a difficult task. This means it can add up to a hefty bill.

But on a 996 or 997 generation Porsche 911 the job is not too difficult for a DIY mechanic.

Keep reading for detailed steps to replace 911 engine mounts for the 996 and 997 generations.

Before you begin you’ll need the following parts and tools.
Difficulty:

Medium
Parts:

2 Engine Mounts
Tools:

Socket wrench w/ 10mm, 13mm and 18mm socket

Torque wrench

Floor jack

Piece of wood or rubber pad

Flathead screwdriver

Steps:

Raise the rear end of the car using a jack and jack stands, backing it onto ramps or using a lift if you are fortunate enough to have access to one.

Open the rear deck lid.

Remove the air filter housing by disconnecting the MAF electrical connector, and slip wire out of the retaining clip. Remove the 13mm bolt between the housing and the bumper using a socket wrench with an extender. Using a flat head screw driver loosen the connection to the throttle body and work it free. Carefully move the oil filler tube from the retaining clip holding the filler tube. You can now work the air filter housing out and set it to the side making sure not to lose the retaining bolt.

The right hand side engine mount should now be visible. In the 996 generation you’ll need to remove the emissions pump to get to the top of the left hand side engine mount. 997 generation cars do not contain the emissions pump, so if you have a 997 you can skip to the next step. Others, using a pair of channel locks remove the hose clamp. Once the clamp is pulled back remove the hose. Next remove the three 10mm bolts mounting the pump and set it to the side.

Using a good floor jack, support the engine by placing it under the oil pan. A piece of wood or rubber should be placed between the engine oil pan and the jack to avoid damage to the engine oil pan. I also like to place a few jack stands on the sides of the wood or rubber as a safety precaution should anything happen to the floor jack.

From underneath the car remove the 18mm nut on each engine mount. You’ll need an extension to get to the 18mm nut. From underneath each bolt is located above the exhaust piping near the oxygen sensor.

Once each 18mm nut is removed you can remove the two 13mm bolts on the top of each engine mount.

With the 13mm bolts removed each engine mount can be lifted out of the car.

Place each of the new engine mounts aligned the same as each of the old engine mounts. Thread each of the 13mm bolts in place by hand to prevent cross threading. Torque each bolt to 16.96 ft-lb (23Nm).

From under the car hand tighten the 18mm nut to each engine mount. Torque each 18mm nut to 63 ft-lb (85Nm).

Now that the new engine mounts are installed the floor jack and any jack stands placed under the oil pan can be removed.

For 996 generation cars the emissions pump should be reinstalled by putting the three 10mm bolts holding the emissions pump in place back in their locations. Tighten each bolt and then re-install the hose to the emissions pump. Using channel locks to put the hose clamps back in place.

Place the air filter housing back in place tightening the 13mm bolt to hold the air filter housing in place. Then place the oil filler tube back in the retaining clip and reinstall the MAF sensor connector. Reconnect the hose to the throttle body and tighten the hose clamp screw with a flathead screwdriver.

Close the engine deck lid and rove the car from the jackstands, ramps or lift.

Test drive your 911 and enjoy the smother ride.

Sometimes seeing the steps for a DIY project is best, so check out this video to see how I changed the engine mounts on my 1999 Porsche 911.

By 2030 Porsche has a goal to have 80% of their lineup as electric vehicles. But there is a problem with this goal. Porsche’s EV sales have slumped largely due to low Porsche EV demand in the US and China.

Is 80% still a reasonable goal and is the move to EV alienating their core demographic?

Government mandates are largely the driver to get to an 80% EV lineup. While these mandates still exist in many countries, the US has removed such mandates and reduced EPA regulations. The United States is still one of the largest markets for Porsche and a driving force in the performance car maker’s strategy.

Porsche CEO, Oliver Blume, recently stated that the 80% goal by 2030 is no longer a realistic goal. Because of this, Porsche will continue to use internal combustion and hybrid drivetrains for more cars than previously expected.

Porsche is currently planning to introduce the next generation of the Boxster and Cayman as EV only models. While Porsche will use gas powered engines on other cars, including reportedly a larger third row SUV, the Boxster and Cayman have not been announced to continue with a flat-four or flat-six sitting in the middle.

To me that’s the problem. An EV Cayman or Boxster will be a quick high performing car. It won’t be great for a lot of laps on the track, but on the street it will pull away from stop light to stop light. But the core buyer of the Boxster and Cayman doesn’t buy one because they want the quickest car on the road.

No, they want the soul of a sports car with neutral handling in the corners. Many were already upset about the soundtrack of the flat-four instead of a flat-six in the base and S models. But most of the current Cayman and Boxster buyers aren’t wanting a silent ride with a numb disconnected feel.
