I just got back from a wonderful and relaxing weekend with my parents in Rehoboth Beach. Rehoboth is my happy place. There's the beach, great shopping, food, and plenty of down time. Do you have a favorite place to go for a quick weekend?

Dry Bar

Last weekend in NYC I had some extra time to kill before dinner, so I thought I'd head into DryBar to fix myself up. I've been to DryBar before and it's an awesome experience. You're greeted with a glass of champagne, get to flip through the look book, and have someone else do your hair. Key words there, someone else! If you have long hair like me then you know the joy in having someone else do it!

I went with a cross between the classic blow out and the southern comfort. I have natural curls, so I wanted a straighter look but with volume.

Ta-Da!

and then it rained on the way to dinner. But you can still see a little bit of the pretty waves and volume even post rain.

Sometimes when designers create lines for other retailers, they are less than impressive. Milly, however, hit the mark. Their pieces for Banana Republic are highly wearable, comfortable, and colorful. The petite's store is also selling them which is fantastic for a super shortie like me. I picked up a few things from the line this weekend.

When creating pretty vignettes, I suggest using things you love. The tiger figurine was a gift from my godmother a long time ago, and I have collected several over the years. It reminds me of what an animal lover I was as a kid and still am. I wanted to create a corner around it so I placed it over some of my favorite coffe table books and added in a classic silver vase.

If you follow me on instagram, you've seen that my family recently moved into a new house. This has been a very bittersweet process for me. I was extremely attached to my childhood home. It was where we celebrated all of the Holidays, where my friends and I used to watch movies in the basement, and where we first brought my dog home to. My parents spent the past year overseeing the building of our new home, and I couldn't be happier for them as it's exactly what they wanted. And It's only a few streets away from our old home so the area has not changed. However, being in it post-grad feels weird to me since I'm no longer a kid who is going to live here for what seems like forever. So I'm trying my best to embrace it. I'm trying to embrace the blessing of having a new home and a space to come home to and relax no matter where I live. I'm trying to embrace that I'm growing up. I'm trying to bury myself in decorating to keep my attitude postive and make this a fun thing. But no one told me transisitioning would be this hard. I'd love to hear some of your thoughts on growing up, moving out of your childhood home, and transitioning post college.

I discovered this Vineyard Vines Patchwork clutch at a boutique in LBI over the weekend. It reminded me a lot of the original Vineyard Vines looks, and I had to get it. It's a great wine time accessory.

I pulled it out for wine time!

Marble Lane

Before heading to Long Beach Island for Memorial Day weekend, my boyfriend and I had an amazing dinner at Marble Lane, a fairly new restaurant in the Dream Hotel. We started off by sharing the Virginia mac and cheese. That thing was heavenly. Cheese, Virginia ham, breadcrumbs=perfection. We followed with the hanger steak in the most delicious Asian inspired sauce. It was so addictive tasting I couldn't put it down for a second. We will definitely be back, and I'm already thinking about my next meal there, quite possibly a burger and this amazing dessert concoction with caramel popcorn.

Graduation Weekend-Keswick

Well now that I got that sappy post about graduation out of the way, I can go into a few more of the fun details. We started off the weekend by having lunch at Keswick, an amazing resort in Charlottesville. I tell people all the time I want to get married there, and I'm not joking. The decor is very Virginia-esque, lots of hunt scenes and blue and white. The views are stunning and the old bay fries are to die for. What more could you want? PS: all photos are courtesy of my dad..he is quite the photographer.

Um I Graduated?

So I graduated this weekend. Um...what?!? How did time fly by this quickly? I thought I was pretty comfortable with the idea of graduating but I have to say, I did get emotional. As I walked with my best friend down UVA's lawn, holding each other like two cheeseballs, I realized I'll never get to do this again. I'll never sit on the lawn on a nice day after class, I'll never pop into the library for an iced coffee, I'll never force my bestie to grab a sandwich at Take it Away with me. All those moments are over. Even though I miss them already and transitioning is a scary time, I am excited to see what this new stage of my life has in store for me.

I love Lilly Pulitzer Elsas. There right up there with olives and chocolate to me. You can throw one on with jeans, black pants, shorts, sandals, wedges..whatever! They make any outfit fun and put together.

I'm obsessed with The Great Gatsby.

I loved it. I haven't loved a movie this much in a long time. Fitzgerald's novel came to life in the actors, the costumes, the scenery..it was all spot on. Since the book can be a bit vague at times, I thought it was interesting the movie spelled out all the metaphors and symbols. At some points it was like my AP English Literature teacher was standing on the screen announcing what the green light meant, but it allowed the movie to flow well and made it very clear to those who hadn't read the book like my Dad. I can't believe how much Fitzgerald's message about fame, wealth, and partying still holds true in our society today. It's a timeless read and a breathtaking movie. Not to mention the soundtrack is to die for to.

Ps: Tiffany's provided most of the diamonds for the movie and you can order your own. Grad gift anyone?

Foxfield Races

This year's Foxfield races were by far my favorite. I think the two key elements to a good Foxfield are the weather and the company you keep. The weather was literally perfect, slightly breezy and warm without being overbearing in the afternoon. I spent most of my time with my boyfriend at his fraternity's alumni plot. He caught up with lots of friends while I gladly ate the fried chicken, drank my Firefly, and chatted with the girls. Their plot was incredibly conveniently located near my sorority's plot so I had no trouble running into everyone all day.

Here's a full outfit shot! My dress was by Melly M, a company I just discovered and have fallen in love with. Their prints are gorgeous and their dress quality is outstanding. I received a ton of compliments on the dress all day. My hat is by Marley Lilly.

Foxfield Races

Tomorrow are the annual Foxfield races here in Virginia. Foxfield is located in Charlottesville and a huge deal for UVA students, especially Greek life. Foxfield gets pretty wild and there is a running joke that it's an accomplishment to see an actual horse before you graduate. Luckily, I saw one two years ago, so my duty is done and I can just stick to the mimosas.

One of my favorite Foxfield memories was during my sophomore year when all my best friends from high school came for a huge reunion. It was so much fun and totally out of control...I mean can you imagine 8 girls getting ready for a horse race in one bathroom? It was pretty exciting seeing the below photo of L and I make it all over Pinterest.

Last year was my boyfriend's last Foxfield and even though it poured, we still had a great time.

He is coming for Foxfield this year again and sent me the sweetest KJP bracelet to match my dress perfectly. Can't wait to share pictures after this weekend!

Weekend Scenes

Last weekend started off with celebrating our friend F's birthday.

We headed to Tavola, an Italian restaurant in the Belmont area of Charlottesville. Belmont is known for its fabulous eats and Tavola proved delish. I had linguine with clams and then incredible homemade gelato topped with hot espresso (gelato affogato!).

The next night, I had my sorority formal at Ash Lawn Highland (the home of James Monroe). Since it was a Friday night my boyfriend couldn't make it down from New York, but A acted as a great sub and even put up with the terrible rain.

I wore a Tracey Negoshian dress I found at a boutique in Annapolis. I was obsessed with the bow back!

I finished off the weekend by reading InStyle magazines annual best beauty buys issue..after buying some new Moroccan Oil shampoo that I was quite pleased with.
