RICHARD PRESTAGE SPEAKS OUT ON HANNAH TRAXLER CASE 1/20/2023

Michelle Bell, upset over her daughter not getting the medication she needed, stated that Richard Prestage went to the doctors office and got Hanna's children's medical records from when Jason Guy burned the baby with hot water (this is when Hannah left him) and told them he was an investigator.  "He is not an investigator, he is a constable.  How is this not a violation of HIPPA?," she asked.

However, upon further investigation it has been determined that Richard Prestage did not get the medical records.  

"I was called to the clinic that the child was taken to and was just the first to arrive, but my partner handled the case, and he only took a report."

Richard further states, "We found out it happened in Scott County, and we have nothing to do with what happens in the county."

"You also must have a court ordered subpoena to get medical records, I could not just go and pick them up. My partner turned it over to Scott County because it did not happen in Morton."

"I have been in Law Enforcement for 24-25 years, a constable for 6 terms and an ambulance driver/EMT for 12 years. Our only involvement in this case was taking the original report."

Woman Says She Was Left for Dead After an Attack, Law Enforcement Says it Was Domestic Violence

Around the time that Austin Harrell and Shaunna Reynolds were accused of murdering Goolsby and Strickland in Newton County, there was another story circulating about a girl that supposedly had her leg cut off.

This is her story:

"I don't want my name out there because this person's intention was not to keep me alive, but other women need to know about this."

"I live in Scott county toward Lake, 6 miles from where they found the bodies of the two girls."

"My attackers obviously knew my husband was in jail so that is why they came to attack me. My leg was cut almost completely off. Me and another girl were targeted because our husbands were locked up so it gave them easy access."

"The other girl said someone has been poking around her house. The doors on their truck were opened and her husband is incarcerated right now also."

******* was arrested and booked in my case on the 2nd of the month and on the 4th or 5th our home was broken into. Since the time I was injured and he was booked into police custody, someone has already broken into my home and stole lingerie, sex toys, and two laptops. For that reason I do not feel like ******* was alone in this."

******* was someone in need so we gave him a place to live and even helped him get a car." says her husband.

"He has since moved out, but when he was here he never came at me the wrong way before or gave me any indication he had other intentions for me." says the victim.

"When my husband was home ******* NEVER pulled over at the house, but this day he pulled over on the side of the road and started talking to me, and I told him my husband "****" was in jail. He acted like he was going to get out of the car and next thing I know I was hit in the head and that is the last thing I remember."

"The only time ******* acted strange around me was in our great-grandmother's house. He kept saying over and over, "Man, I'm sorry, let her know I'm really sorry. I don't know where I am going to die, but I know where I am going to be buried." When he got in the car we all heard a door slam like someone was mad and he would not come back over to our house after that."

The victim's husband had just been released from jail not long before the attack occurred.

"I had been arrested and the police wanted one of my friends real bad, and wanted me to go on the stand and testify against him and I said, "No, I want my family safe."

"The police said they would not let anything happen to my family, but I would not do what they wanted. Then they released me and when I got home I found my wife lying in the middle of the road like a dead dog."

"One officer has been calling us non-stop trying to find out our location, trying to get us to hide out, but he was the same one that said everyone is going to be safe. One of my friends said, "Don't trust no police." so I don't trust them either."

"******* signed a statement saying he only kicked my wife in the head, face and ribs, and that the two girls did the rest. The two girls got locked up, but they let them go because they said they did not have anything to hold them on. There names were ******** *********** and ***** *****."

I then asked them if they were familiar with the name Shauna Reynolds, and they said, "I know that name. A friend of mine was talking to her (wanting to date her) and he told us she had made a hit list out, and my wife's name was on the hit list, but my wife don't even know that girl."

"We met her current boyfriend, Austin Harrell one time when he came running out of the woods by our house and tried to get me (the victim) to come help with his vehicle. My husband came up and he told my husband he needed some help because he had wrecked his vehicle, but when my husband got there his car was fine. It was a white BMW stolen from Louisiana."

"When I was admitted to the hospital they asked me if another girl was with me when this happened. "Why?" I asked. At that time I didn't know about the other girls being found, but we later heard there was four different girls and a guy murdered or killed, but the only name we heard was Goolsby.

"I want my husband to know it was not his fault because I was attacked when he was locked up. Please make sure they find him because if my husband does it's not going to be pretty."

When the alleged victim told me her story, I contacted Sheriff Joedy Pennington in Newton County and he told me that this case was not related to the two victims in his county, but was a domestic violence case between a husband and wife. He also stated that her leg was not almost completely cut off, but rather had a deep gash. He then gave me the name of an investigator in Scott County she could trust to speak with.

This case was investigated by Joey Rigby and Captain Ellis. and Joey Rigby states he investigated the case and that the alleged victim was caught in a couple of lies and she admitted to making the whole thing up.

Office Rigby states that after interviewing several different people along with the alleged perpetrator, it was determined that it was a fabricated story.

Says Rigby, "It was found that her husband got out of jail and came home and caught her cheating with another man so he beat her up and threw her out of the car. It is unknown how she got the deep gash in her leg."

"Some of the story is very close to the truth, but the rest is fabricated, like the part about the police wanting her husband to help get one of his friends. Her husband was paid by ** to testify in Circuit Court saying that drugs found on ** was his. After he claimed the drugs, he was then arrested and charged for possession of a controlled substance. He was then booked into Scott County, and told us ** paid him to testify." states officer Rigby.

The last time Muddy Mississippi Justice spoke with the alleged victim she was really mad, and vehemently swore to be telling the truth, but said that the police called her a liar and treated her like she was a criminal so she just decided to withdraw charges.

After getting on the wrong track, with the wrong guy, during a time of post-partum depression, Hannah Traxler now sits in a Scott County Mississippi jail, charged with a crime, that according to her mother, she did not commit.

After taking a trip to Alabama against her will, where she was beaten and burned with cigarettes by her abuser, Jason Guy, Hannah was rescued and returned home to Mississippi to face a drug rehab court order her mother had asked the court for previously.

"I went to the courts and asked them to help me with Hanna because she needed drug rehab and mental help for the PTSD she suffered from her time spent with Jason Guy, before and after he took her off to Alabama," states her mother, Michelle Bell.

"Now they are being cruel as hell to her, won't give her her rights, won't take her to Weems, and she has only gotten one letter from me since she has been incarcerated, although I have sent her four letters."

"Worst of all, Hannah has had seizures since she was four years old and they are they are refusing to give her the seizure medication they know she needs, even though she has a new bottle of seizure medication in her purse at the jail."

"A seizure can kill my daughter, and I am worried sick, I can't sleep at night, and I feel like I am being tortured, simply because I asked the courts for help."

"In addition to that, she fell in the jail and it took them a couple of days to take her to the doctor."

"A week after she fell I put $80 on the books for her canteen, but they took it from her and said that was her charge for her medical bill. However, I called the hospital and her Medicaid had paid half of her medical bill and the jail paid the other half."

She then called Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee.

"Mike Lee said the medical bill was suppose to be filed on the jail, so he didn't know why Bubba Johnson had taken her money, yet they still have not given her the money back."

"Mike assured me he would get to the bottom of it, and in the process commented her bond was really high. I've probably called him 15 times since then and he won't call me back."

Michelle also states that Richard Prestage went to the doctors office and got Hanna's children's medical records from when Jason Guy burned the baby with hot water (this is when Hannah left him) and told them he was an investigator. Hannah's mother, Michelle, goes on to say they have restricted Hannah's canteen and her Home Wave Video Chat where you can call and talk to your loved ones, but won't tell her why.

"Now I know my daughter has addiction problems, but she is a human being and does not deserve to be treated like this, and neither do I. This could be a death sentence for her."

"I asked for help but instead I'm going through hell."

As you read this, you may think this is just a problem with the Scott County Jail, but in fact it is a nationwide problem.

THE MURDER OF MALIK MILLER

On Thursday, February 21st, 2019, Malik Miller left campus at East Central Community College and headed home to Louisville, like he did most Thursdays after classes were over.

After arriving home, when that Saturday and Sunday, February 23rd and 24th, rolled around, Malik Miller, and Jared Hannah, drove to someone's house on Highway 25 by the bypass going toward Jackson.

Malik's friends, Kelsey Ingraham and Kolby Woods, were there, and Malik, Kolby, Kelsey, and Jared settled down for a few nights of routine fun; competing and gambling against each other on PlayStation games.

Malik came out ton top, after winning $700- $800 off of Jared and another $600-700 off of Kelsey.

However, Jared was a sore loser and got really upset over losing his money to Malik, so Malik offered to give it back to him, but Jared said he didn't want it back."

This was not Jared's first time to get out of sorts over a game.

"In 2018, Jared, Nicholas Johnson and Cat Dog, were at my sisters, playing games on the PlayStation, when Jarred got mad over losing his money and pulled a gun out and put it to Cat Dog's chest", says Malik's mother, Lakeshia Miller.

Jared had also pulled a gun out on another of Malik's friends, Sosa, and tried to rob him.

My sister told him, "Get out of my house, and don't ever come back."

Cat Dog's mom went to the jail to file charges on him, but Jared's mom talked her out of it.

After Malik offered Jared his money back, everything seemed to be fine between them.

Sunday, February 24th, everyone got into Malik's car and Malik went to take everyone to their respective homes, including Jared. They first stopped by McDonald's on Highway 25, and the car died and would not crank so Malik called his mother to bring him some jumper cables, because he had left them in the yard.

After he called his mother, Malik saw Kolby Woods, and Kolby jumped the car off for him.

Kolby told Malik, "Put Jared in the back, Kelsey in the front, and drop Jared off first because he is not to be trusted. (Kolby said he would testify to that, because no one trusted Jared.)

When Malik made it home that Sunday night, his 2016 Dodge Charger was making a funny- ticking noise so I kept it to get it checked out and gave him my mother's 1996 Pontiac G6 to drive, and he headed back to campus at ECCC.

"This was the last time I would see my son alive", says a heartbroken, Keshia Miller.

That following Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, Malik's welding instructor was giving a welding test that Malik had already taken in high school. Since Malik was ahead of the rest of the class he asked if he could leave, and the instructor gave him permission to do so.

Malik always sold PlayStation games and such and Jared Hannah said he wanted to buy a PlayStation from Malik so Malik asked Denerius if he would ride with him to Louisville to meet Jared.

Denerius said, "No."

Nobody wanted anything to do with Jared, but my son always saw the good in other people, and Jared was no exception.

When my brother would not ride with him, Malik made several phone calls to various friends to find someone to ride with him, because he was a little afraid of Jared.

Unable to get anyone on the phone, Malik rode by my uncle, Douglas Lynch's house in Noxapater, and ran into a couple of friends there: Brandon Leech and Austin Edinburg, and they agreed to go with him.

Malik left his car at my uncle's house and he, Austin, and Brandon climbed into Austin's black SUV and headed up Highway 15 to Young Crossing Road, in Center Ridge, located between Noxapater and Louisville.

With Austin driving, Brandon in the front passenger seat and Malik in the backseat on the passenger side. they pulled into the driveway of Jared's uncle's house. Jared approached the SUV on foot,and climbed into the back driver's side door. It seemed everything was fine, but when Jared got out, he started demanding money. Malik again offered to give him his money back, but Jared said, "No, I want all of it, meaning Malik's money, Jared's money, and the money Malik won off of Kelsey.

When Jared pointed his gun, Malik hollered, "No, Jared", and covered his face, but it was too late, Jared pulled the trigger, and the bullet went through his arm and penetrated his chest cavity on the left side.

"Then LT and Jared just started shooting, and the only thing that saved Austin, the driver, was he was sitting up closer to the steering wheel trying to get service on his phone, and the bullet went behind his back and got stuck in the arm rest.

Brandon is a hunter, and a registered gun owner so he carries his gun everywhere he goes. When they started shooting, he pulled his gun and fired back in self-defense. (His gun was ruled out by the crime lab as the murder weapon.)

Bullet holes are still in the stop sign, by the gas tank and the front door and console of the SUV. "

"Austin filed charges against Jared for attempted murder, but nothing ever happened with that. I don't' know why", says Ms. Miller.

Malik still had $1,200 in his pocket when he died. In addition to gambling winnings, he worked at Little Ceasar part-time and had his refund money.

"Malik was not a violent person, and was terrified of guns so he would never carry one, even though one had been offered to him before.

Although the police found a little marijuana in the car, Malik, nor Brandon nor Austin had ever been in any trouble before. They were good boys, and non-violent.

If a young black boy gets killed by gun fire, everyone assumes they were in a gang, or drug dealers, but they all grew up in church, for the most part, and were not those kinds of people.

Malik graduated from Noxapater High School in 2018.

He was an Allstar athlete, and was enrolled in a welding class at ECCC. He was set to graduate in May of 2019, just two months away from this date, and already had a job lined up at Taylor Machine Works, in Louisville.

Full of life, he would talk to anyone, and loved to make everyone laugh.

When the news that Malik was shot went out, all of the school coaches and teachers who knew him rushed to the hospital to wait by myside. He was well loved by everyone.

"Malik was just 18, my 1st love, best friend, protector, a person that I looked up to as the most precious value, but most important , my heart.

After the murder, Jared was found wrapped up in a blanket, hiding in the top of someone's closet, and arrested and charged with murder.

Somehow, Jared was found not guilty by a jury, and LT was never charged although he was shooting too.

"It won't bring my son back, but I still want justice for Malik. Jared was someone we had taken into our home and tried to help so he was almost like family, and that makes Malik's death hurt even more."

UPDATE: 6/14/2022

Jared has been picked up for Armed Robbery, (He pulled out a gun once again.) theft, Marijuana possession, trying to take contraband in a correctional facility, and stolen vehicle.

Politicians and news media can't understand why the American People still support Donald Trump after some of the things he has been perceived as saying, but the truth is there isn't much he could say that is nearly as disgusting to Americans as the crap we have put up with from both political parties, and a fake news media that does it's best to keep us pitted against one another.

Jeb Bush inadvertently summed things up with one sentence; "What Donald Trump said is wrong" Bush continued, "That is not how we win elections."

Those words, my friend, are at the heart of the problem. We the people don't care about politicians winning elections, we care about having our voice heard, and for far too long the silent majority has not had a voice.

If all a Trump victory accomplishes is to send a message to the status quo that we are fed up with their political games, then mission accomplished.

Politicians that hold their finger up to the political wind to see which way it is blowing, politicians whose only goal in life is to get reelected, politicians who pass laws for us to obey, but exempt themselves from those same laws.

This is nothing new, it was written about over two thousand years ago in the Bible in Luke 11:46 Woe unto you lawyers, for you weigh men down with burdens hard to bear, while you yourselves will not even touch the burden with one of your fingers.

This brings to mind the age old question of why women love bad boys, and the answer is really simple; Most have been duped by some guy who led them to believe he was their knight in shinning armor, but was really a wolf in sheep's clothing.

People would much rather have a straight talking, no holds barred, John Wayne, tell it like it is, take it or leave it, what you see is what you get candidate, any day, over a bunch of spineless, let me tell you what you want to hear, so I can party on your dime while I rob you blind, bunch of cry babies.

Lake Mississipp: Woman Beaten and Tortured, Suspect in Custody!

A couple of Mississippi school children walked into their home in Lake Mississippi to find a house of horrors; blood everywhere and their mother missing.

"There was so much blood, the police declared it a murder scene", says an undisclosed source. "It appeared someones head had been pushed through a TV screen, and then they had been beaten with a baseball bat"

While the police searched for the woman, presumed to be dead, she managed to escape from the place she was being held captive , while the perpetrator was asleep, and find her way to a neighbor's house, where the police were called.

She had been brutally and sadistically tortured, and beaten.

Scott County police have a suspect in custody, but it is an on going investigation, so they are not releasing any information.

According to my source, she believes the suspect is a black male, that was out on bond pending a murder investigation, and it is possible the victim knew him.

Say a prayer for the woman, who is in the hospital, possibly fighting for her life, and her precious children.

This was the question Sandra Hughley ask herself as she left her house a few days ago. Fortunately she went to see her pastor instead of allowing the negative thoughts to over take her. Because of her sever Endometriosis, Sandra finds herself in need of financial help.

"I have severe endometriosis, http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/endometriosis/DS00289 and it has covered my bowels and bladder. I sometimes have diarrhea 25 times a day, and it makes it nearly impossible to work. It is embarrassing for me to tell you this, but I have messed on myself, because I have such urgency, I can't get to the bathroom on time. I have two children, ages 4 and 17, and it makes it really hard, because I have to plan our outings around my diarrhea."

"I was told 16th Avenue Church would help people, but they said I must first be approved by Wesley House. When I went to Wesley House (United Way just suspended funds to them) http://www.meridianstar.com/local/x967391629/United-Way-pulls-Wesley-House-funding they said before they could help me with my power, rent, or anything else, I would have to go to financial classes for 16 weeks, once a week.to learn how to manage my money, "

I told him, " I don't have 16 weeks, I need help now." He ask how I had been paying my bills, and I told him I was working, and I budgeted my rent off commissions. I didn't plan on getting sick and having to have a multitude of surgery's. I have used my savings, my 401K, sold my Ipad, tv, anything I can get rid of to get money, but it isn't enough."

"I am a single mom, I get $700 a month in child support, and because so many people are working here with the coal mine, rental properties are scarce, and my rent is $925.00 a month. My pastor is working on some apartments based on your income, and is trying to get me in one of those. My parents don't have room for us, and if I can't get some help soon, my children and I are looking at being homeless.

Sandra's problems began after she had two Cesarean sections with her children, and then had to have a complete hysterectomy in December of 2011, because of endometrosis, and was hospitalized again in January 2012 with internal bleeding.

Then it was sinus surgery, a tonsillectomy, and in Jan 2013 her Gallbladder erupted. " I kept telling them I was still in pain and my stomach was always hurting, and they said it was stomach bile, and put me on something else. One doctor wants me to go to the pain management center, and put me on narcotics for the pain, that might be a short term solution, but long term that isn't the answer I want, or how I want to live my life.

I was sent back to work on November the 4th, of this year, but made 4 ER visits after that, because I was in such pain. The first ER doctor, Doctor Williams at Rush, acted like it was all in my head, and treated me like I was a drug addict, even running a drug screen (which came back negative) without my permission. I did not even want to go to the hospital after the way he treated me, but I had no choice.

Fortunately the next time she went to the ER the doctor looked at her history and put her in the hospital to run some test.

"I was bloated and it looked like I was pregnant. I was found to have gastroparesis,http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/gastroparesis/ and she discovered my lymph nodes were inflamed, possibly from stomach acid, and added another med, 3x a day before I eat to help my stomach empty. She also discovered they did not get all of my endometrosis, and I will need to have surgery again, but she said no one in Meridian will touch me and I will need to go to the Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta, Georgia. http://www.centerforendo.com/

It was at this point in our conversation that Sandra broke down crying, and I broke down with her.

Her story reminds me too much of my sweet niece Heather, and all she went through before she passed away.

"The Endometroisis Center in Atlanta has reviewed my medical files and say they will be able to remove all the endometrosis and get everything reconstructed."

Her surgery is going to require her to go to Atlanta, and will require lodging and food for several days. Her out of pocket, that she has to have up front, is $3,550, and she doesn't have the money. She is getting food stamps of $300 per month, but her medicine is $300.00 per month, and her electric bill is overdue for two months, and she doesn't have enough to pay her rent.

"I have so much going on and it's the holidays. I have already had to tell my oldest not to expect much. Now I am worried about a roof over our heads and other bills."

Senator Chris McDaniel: A Man of the People.

I became familiar with Sen. Chris McDaniel several years back, when he wrote an article in the Laurel Leader Call, in Jones county Mississippi.

I really didn't expect to hear back from him, but I did. I was impressed by the fact that he took the time, not only to respond to my letter, but he wanted to find out why I felt the way I did, and welcomed a discussion.

This is an excerpt from the letter I wrote him;

I keep hearing over and over about "Undisciplined children in school" and how the parents just drop them off. The problem is not with the parents when they have a difficult child. When I started keeping records one child in 350 had Autism, that number is down to every one in every 100 children born in this country, (now 1 in every 75) this does not include the ADHD statistics. I would think someone would want to be finding out why.

If you have never struggled with a difficult child it is so easy to blame the parents, but I've seen parents do everything humanly possible to help their children to no avail. When you have a difficult child, the school does not WANT you involved, they want them out of the school because of their poor grades bringing down their scores. They want children that excel with minimal help and if your child needs extra help, God help you.

This is an excerpt from the letter he wrote me back;

I agree with you that children with ADHD or other associated learning disorders need our help.

My wife is a public school teacher, as was her mother for 34 years and my father for 32 years. I have volunteered thousands -- yes, thousands -- of my own dollars to assist and help school-age children. I have also volunteered my time. Likewise, I have been a strong supporter of education since my election to the Senate.

Put simply, I've been involved in public education for my entire life. And I will continue to fight for it and the children who need my help.

What impressed me about him was that he truly seemed to care about how I felt, and he wanted to know why I felt the way I did. He struck me as a man that is truly concerned about the children of our state and their education.

We desperately needs leaders that have spent time in the education field, and understand things from a teacher's, and a parent's point of view. Far to often the problems are not with the teachers or the parents, but with the politicians and administrators that war against both parties.

Electing men to office that have the people's best interest at heart, instead of men that can't think past getting elected again is desperately needed by our country.

While politicians like Delbert Hosemann are running around trying to dig up dirt, and wasting their time pointing out that McDaniel may have once voted Democrat in an election, (see article in The Clarion Ledger) http://www.clarionledger.com/article/20131112/NEWS010504/131112017/Chris-McDaniel-disputes-records-saying-he-voted-Democrat-2003 McDaniel is talking about the issues.. Who cares if he once voted Democrat? Not me, I'm more likely to vote for a man that votes his conscience rather than party lines. What you might want to ask yourself is, what is the Mississippi Republican Party so afraid of?

Why does The Clarion Ledger try and point out McDaniel as an ULTRA CONSERVATIVE, then try and paint him as a Democratic voting liberal? Why do politicians like Hosemann spend more time looking for dirt than they do talking about the issues and serving the great people of this state?

I'll tell you why. Republican and Democrat POLITICIANS alike are afraid of men of principal, men who don't care if they get re-elected, men that want to do what they believe is right, men that wont' be told what to do, and won't play politics, men that actually stand for something, men that are not selfish and out to grab power and land lucrative contracts to make them rich, but are out to actually serve the people who elected them to office.

I have been following Senator McDaniel for some time now, and I have seen a man that believes in The Constitution of The United States, the rights of the people, limited government, a balanced budget, creating jobs, and education. You can't get much better than that.

The time is now to vote for real change! Bye, bye Senator Thad Cochran, Hello Senator Chris McDaniel.

The Many Faces of Food Stamp Recipients

Food insecurity is a major problem in this country that affects more than just food stamp recipients. Some people desperately need help, but don't qualify, others are too ashamed to ask for help when they need it so they do their best to get by even if it means going to bed hungry.

We all hear the stories of people seen driving to the grocery store in a Cadillac, talking on their iPhone, with their perfectly manicured nails, but what your perception may be, and what that person's reality may be, are often two totally different things.

Take Allena Brown, for instance. She had a good job with a government agency until she fell at work and busted her head open on concrete, causing permanent brain and spinal cord damage.

"The day I went back to work they handed me my termination papers. I had only been working there for 9 months and the government can fire you for any reason within the first year."

"There are no jobs around here, and my husband only worked part-time and he took on odd jobs to help support us".

"It wasn't easy and it took almost 2 months to qualify for assistance. There were days we didn't know how we would feed the kids, but God always came through, whether it was sending my husband days or weeks worth of work or people from our church helping us."

"Once we got assistance it lifted a weight off of our shoulders. We had been receiving assistance for about six months when my husband landed a full time job driving a truck. We are still trying to catch up, but the day he got hired I called the DHS (Department of Human Services) and told them I wanted to close our case.. People can be so rude and judge others without knowing their story. Not everyone is abusing the system.

"During that time, I don't know how many times I heard "You have a Coach purse or you have a nice ride, but you don't mind swiping that food stamp card." "They didn't stop to think that we haven't always struggled, we just fell on hard times for a brief period, and I bought those items before I got on food stamps."

"Even though I could, I refuse to file for disability, because I know there are people out there worse off than me, but it has been really hard. I try and help make ends meet with my photography and any odd jobs I can find on the side.

While a few are too lazy to work, and bilk the system for what they can get out of it, in most cases it is a matter of survival.

Take Shelly for instance, she had a great job making $23 an hour, and was the sole support for her two children After an unexpected layoff she found her self unemployed, but the bills kept rolling in, and there was no money for food.

Walking into a food stamp office was something she never thought she would find herself doing, but she had paid into the system her whole life, and was thankful it was there when she needed it.

What she didn't expect was the way she was treated by the people who worked at the food stamp office. They were rude, and treated her like she was dirt. After all, if you are poor, you are at the mercy of Government workers that could care less about you, and if you don't have a job, they stare down their nose at you, and think they can treat you any way they want. After all, your poor, so you are a nobody.

I remember one friend that worked in the cafeteria at a school. Fortunate to be married to a man that made decent money, she resented all the kids that came through and got free school lunches. She was always talking about how they wore nice shoes, and such, and if they could afford that, they should have to pay for their lunches.

What many people don't realize, is many of those parents are working, and they don't make enough to buy those shoes, the grandparents do it, or they find them at yard sales and other places. You have no way to judge that person's situation unless you ask them, and if you ask you might be ashamed of yourself.

We would all like to think our friends or relatives or church will come to our rescue, but in many cases they are in the same boat or just don't have the time to fool with our problems on top of theirs.

Many years ago there was a crippled man that needed help, and one of God's angels made it her mission to carry him a plate of home cooked food every night. One day the church ask if there was anyone in the community that needed help so God's angel brought up the cripple man.

It all started off great, but soon people began to complain that he was a burden to the church. What was meant to be the church helping someone in need turned into a job, and soon it was discovered that the cripple man was in possession of Playboy magazine. That was the only excuse that was needed to stop the daily food gifts, and put the cripple man back in the hands of the angel that carried him food without complaint.

This is not meant as a judgement on the church, but rather to explain that more often than not, well meaning people have problems of their own, and don't have the time or resources to help those in need. Like the Deacon at one church once told me, "There are just too many needy people for us to help."

If you are blessed, be thankful, don't waste your time complaining about those that take advantage of the system, you will always have those people, but more often than not, food stamp recipients are people like the ones mentioned above, who have fallen on hard times, and are struggling to survive.

Your life can change in an instant, and you never know when you may find yourself in the very shoes you condemned. But for the grace of God go I.

Sometimes I think our whole country is like the Children of Israel crying in the wilderness, where they wandered for 40 years because of their ungratefulness, and lack of faith.

Like my son David told me one day when I was complaining, "Someone is praying for what you have, for your blessings, and if your not grateful, God may take what you have and give it to someone else." I fail, but I try and remember what he said, because truer words have never been spoken.

God never ask if we were worthy when he sent his son to die on the cross for us, he knew we were not, but he sent us the gift just the same. Be thankful and be blessed!

Plumbing Problems? Help is a phone call away

I use baby wipes to remove makeup because I dislike staining my bath cloths. Unfortunately, someone ran out of toilet paper, saw them in the bathroom, did their deed, and flushed them down my toilet.

Ugh is backing up into my tub, and overflowing onto the Pergo style floors I put down just a few short years ago. I'm nearly broke, and all the contractors I call are out of my immediate price range. Fortunately for me, I found a plumbing contractor right here in Little Rock, Mississippi.

Riot at Philadelphia Mississippi Wal-Mart

Maybe not a big city riot, but in the little town of Philadelphia, Mississippi, Police set up shop outside Wal-mart, tonight, after shoppers raided the store, pushed, shoved and fought over any remaining meats and other items left on the shelves.

After Piggly Wiggly, Vowells, and other stores rejected EBT cards, recipients were under the impression their EBT cards would not work after midnight because of the government shutdown, those who depend on food stamps to feed their families were in a tissy to get all the food they could, while it was still available.

Customers that rushed to buy all the groceries they could, before the government shutdown affected them, were incensed when they got to the check out counter, and found their cards would not work.

Angry shoppers that had fought to beat others to the food, left their buggies full of produce, meats, and staples in the middle of aisles, and it just became too much for the store to handle, so they had to call the police and shut the store down at 8:30 pm instead of remaining open around the clock, as normal.

According to CBS News, EBT cards began experiencing connectivity issues after a routine test of a backup system at an undisclosed Xerox location in the Midwest caused an outage at about 10 a.m.The test was part of a regular maintenance schedule, and not related to the government shutdown.

Some people believe this was done intentionally, because it is just a little too convenient for this to have been an accident at a time when pressure is mounting in Washington due to the government shutdown. This may be just an inkling of what is to come should the shutdown go on much longer.

BULLYING: YOU'RE A SISSY, A QUEER.....

YOU'RE a QUEER, a SISSY, GAY; little words that do enormous damage to any person, but especially children, may be long forgotten by those who say them, but never erased from the memory of those who endure.

Unless he was in front of an audience, Jimbeau Hinson, Jimbeauhinson.com writer of Setting Fancy Free, Tonight I'm Looking for a Party Crowd, and other hits) was always a shy, quiet child.

"I always felt different from everyone else at the time, but I've come to realize I was only more sensitive. I tried to put on the hard shell that those around me wore, but it never worked for me. As a result, I had all this pent up, emotional turmoil that most kids don't have. Music was my release; it was the only time I felt it was acceptable for me to speak, and when I opened my mouth to sing, all of those pent up, damned up, raw emotions came out that just made people go, Wow. I was loud and had a wide vocal range, and people just could not believe this was coming out of a little kid." says Hinson.

Many creative kids feel different than those around them, and because society punishes rather than rewards differences, many creative geniuses seek out drugs and other means to satisfy that need to fit in. Our prisons are full of artist, writers, and painters, that fell by the way side, while others internalize and never learn to release those pent up emotions.

"Suicide is really high among kids, because they have never lived through that first, dark night, they don't realize it gets better the next day, that the sun comes up, and things were not as bad as they seemed. Everything seems so magnified as a child, and they never make it through that first dark night."

It was on a night such as this that Jimbeau Hinson climbed the water tower in Newton, Mississippi, and contemplated taking his life.

Jimbeau's Journey From Contemplated Suicide to Hope

"I just came out singing, no one else in my family did, no one ever played any musical instrument, otherwise I would probably be a pretty good musician. Brenda Lee was my first singing idol and I just thought, "I want to do that" so I just mimicked everything she did.

Singing out in Honky Tonk's since he was ten years old, Jimbeau feels really blessed to have had music in his life. Winning contest at his school in Newton, Mississippi, and local fairs, from Newton to Neshoba County, The Mississippi State fair came to Meridian and that got him on TV, local radio programs, and into clubs in Meridian and Jackson, singing with bands. He became like a Cameo Artist, and they would pay him $25 a week, and he would get up and sing three or four songs, and sit on people's laps, and they would stick a tip in his pocket.

"Eventually I got the attention of Loretta Lynn when I was 14 at the Mississippi State Fair in Meridian. Loretta Lynn's Rodeo was in town on tour, and when ask to hear me sing ,she was kind enough to listen, and impressed enough that she ask me to come back the next Saturday and put me on her show. After the show I got to hangout with her and she took me to a club in Meridian called Skyline or Skyview, and I played there for a year. Then the unthinkable happened: my voice changed, I lost pitch, and it took a whole year to straighten out. I had had three record companies in Nashville, including RCA, looking to sign me, but as a result of the voice change I lost those deals, and all my club gigs. From there I spiraled down into a horrible depression".

That was when Jimbeau climbed the old water tower in Newton, Mississippi, and considered throwing himself off of it.

"I thought my life had ended, but once I got up there and looked around, and though about my short lived , little pitiful life, I started thinking about everything: Collecting Coke bottles in my bicycle basket, WBKN, the radio station that I played at every Saturday afternoon, along with Skinny Lang and The Southern Play Boys, and I looked over at Hudson's Funeral Home, and thought they would probably lay me out a lot flatter than I was at the time, and how sad everyone that had picked on and made fun of me would be, but I then realized they probably would not miss me. Everyone was growing up and into girls and sports, and here I was this weird little kid that was totally uncool and sang country songs, and at that point they really were not concerned with me, I was just as invisible, as I had tried to be.

I had been told I was a Queer before I even knew what the word meant, and at first I thought that explained why I felt different from everyone else, but then I leaned in church that a Queer was an abomination to God, so that meant that even God did not want me. So I felt totally hopeless.

I remember looking up at the stars and thinking how huge they were, how many there were, and how little I was, then I looked down at Newton, and I thought, no one is really going to miss me, and I realized there was nothing down there worth splattering myself over. The people of Newton are good, God fearing, honest folks, but my dreams were not tied there. My dreams were with music so I climbed down off the tower and decided my goals were going to happen, I was going to make them happen."

Within a year of that dark night, Jimbeau signed his first publishing deal with Loretta Lynn's publishing company, "The Wilburn Brothers".

I made it through the dark night, I didn't jump, and I want kids to know there is hope, don't do that, don't take your life. We don't need to push our kids to the point they do something like that."

Looking back Jimbeau is shocked to see how past the past has grown up behind him, how the negativity, hurt, and hard feelings from his childhood, are only splinters of discontent he has carried around. The people from his childhood that were once mean to him , now act like they are happy to see him, and act like the past never happened or they don't remember.

"I wasn't the only one that was made fun of: If it wasn't how you walked or talked, it was the color of your skin.

Also, we need to give some thought to the way we try and turn men into men, If you grind the very center of a man, all you end up with is an A** hole."

As an adult, Jimbeau came to realize that he was like a frog in a pond, and the frog on the log next to him felt the same way; all the picking and making fun done by others, was not about him at all, but was more about their own insecurity, their own need to feel important, and he harbors no hard feelings, but the pain never completely goes away, it just takes a new form and some turn it into a positive instead of a negative. Jimbeau turned his into a positive and you can too.

In addition to all the hit songs, and recordings of his songs by numerous Artist, Jimbeau, has been married to the love of his life, Brenda fielder, for 34 years, and now has a deal with Wrinkled Records.

No matter how dark the night, the sun, the moon and the stars will continue to shine, and you have something to offer that no other human can. You were created unique by The Maker of the Universe, and your life is important; there is not, and never will be, another you.

The first time I heard the name, Jimbeau Hinson, was in the mid 80's. I was going to college, and working part-time as a waitress. One of my co-workers was A feisty, funny, red head by the Name of Frances Hinson. She told me her son, Jimbeau, was a songwriter in Nashville.

Years later, a series of events led me to try my hand at songwriting, and I became a coordinator for Nashville Songwriters Association International, and as a result, made trips to Nashville and back for various seminars. Always looking for new talent to record demos for me, I enlisted the beautiful voice of Marci Hollingsworth, from Decatur, Mississippi

One day Marci ask me if a friend of her mother's could catch a ride to Nashville with me. It just so happens it was Frances Hinson. On the way to Nashville, she told me a little about her son; She said he had written "Setting Fancy Free" for the Oak Ridge Boys", and that he had remained single until he was about 31, and then met, and married, the love of his life, Brenda Fielder.

Jimbeau's sister met us in Nashville, and that was the last time I saw Frances, but not the last time I would hear the name, Jimbeau Hinson. His name would soon pop up in almost every crowd or songwriting event I attended in Nashville.

I was in the audience at, "The Broken Spoke", a big hangout for aspiring and successful songwriters and Artist in Nashville. A girl, don't recall her name, sang and played a killer song called, "The Hands of a Working Man". Being a writer, great lines in a great song always grab my attention, so I had to ask, "Who wrote that?" The answer that came back was, Jimbeau Hinson.

About that time, a group called, "The Leavin' Brothers", was making it's rounds, and getting the attention of some major record labels. I was invited to a party where they were playing, and they played a song whose lyrics were so strong they jumped out at me, and I had to ask, "who wrote those lines?", the answer that came back was, "Jimbeau Hinson". It seemed wherever I went, if there were some great lyrics in a song that totally blew me away, they were usually written by Jimbeau. At this time I had never met him, but his presence as a songwriter was everywhere.

I came to know a lot of songwriters around town, and one day Jimbeau's name came up, and the person told me what was suppose to be a well guarded secret, "Jimbeau Hinson has AIDS.

Eventually, I heard Jimbeau playing out at writers nights, and became friends with he and his wife Brenda. I have never met a sweeter, kinder, more "In love" couple than Jimbeau and Brenda, and I believe that is why he writes such AMAZING love songs.

In 2003 a huge tornado tore through the little town of Newton Mississippi, Jimbeau's home town, reeking havoc, and tearing homes and businesses asunder.

I ask Jimbeau if he would be interested in doing a benefit. He said, "Sure.

"Penned, "Jimbeau's Big Wind Wing Dang Do", Jimbeau came down with a group of heavy weights from Nashville; Jeffrey Steele (Singer/songwriter, lead singer for Boy Howdy, Host on Nashville Star), Ray Herndon (McBride and the Ride), The Sommerville Brothers from New York, and Marc Allan Barnette.

If You Support Chick-Fil-A Does it Mean You Hate Gays?

For the most part, this blog is just me thinking out loud. If I sound confused at times it is because I am. I always try and seek fairness in what I do, and weighing the pros and cons of different situations, at times, has no easy answers.

Chick-Fil-A President, Dan Cathy, found himself in a storm of controversy when he came out and said it is his belief that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Gay people are calling him and all Christians "Haters" for simply supporting him and his right to believe the way he does. However, I see more hate against Christians, coming from the gay community, rather than the other way around.

Reading articles on the Huffington Post, that are always pro gay and anti-Christian, infuriate me, and as a writer I simply have to respond.

All of us have a tough time living up to the ideals set in the Bible for us to follow. We all, as humans, are imperfect, make mistakes, and have weaknesses that we fight on a continual basis on our quest to become better human beings.

The one thing I believe that is ignored by both sides of this argument is "Freewill" which was given to us by our creator. As long as I'm not infringing on your rights, you should not infringe on mine, is the way I believe.

However, if we change the definition of marriage to suit one group, where do you draw the line?

Is it right for a person that is gay to demand they be married in a Christian Church that believes homo sexuality is wrong? To do that, you are infringing on the rights of others to religious freedom.

On the other hand, you simply can not legislate what you consider to be moral and demand everyone else go by your belief's. We should spend more time trying to make our own lives better, loving our fellow man, and letting God sort everything else out, that is his job, not ours. If we all spent more time praying for each other rather than trying to legislate or protest, the whole country would be better off.

I have friends that are gay, and I love them, I have friends that are straight, and I love them, I have friends that are Christian, and I love them, I have friends that don't even believe God exist, and I love them.

Mutual respect is what is needed here. I may not agree with how you live your life and you may not agree with how I live mine; it does not mean we should be enemies, but it also means your rights should not negate mine.

Mr. Cathy is not saying he hates gays, or refuses to hire gays, he is merely stating he thinks it is wrong and he has the right to freedom of speech, and I fully support him in that right.

However, that being said, I have something to say on the other side of this argument.

I remember when one of my kids was small, and another child went to the same day care as him, and that child was born with male and female parts. The parents had to decide whether that child was going to be a boy or a girl. I often wonder what happened to that child, and if that child had a problem as he grew into an adult, felling either male or female.

I'm sure being gay is not an easy choice, and a person can't help who they are attracted to, and for most, they would probably rather be straight cause it would make their life a lot easier.

I also know people that once considered themselves gay, and part of what drove them to it was the taunting of other children, because they were boys and had feminine characteristics. Who is responsible for that? I would say it is those that are allowed to bully and make fun of others because they may be different from the norm.

In another case, a wonderful young man I know, considered himself gay. However, he became a Christian and realized that he had always felt unloved by his father and as a result, he felt the only way he could be loved by a man was to seduce or be seduced by one. It was not someone else's moral opinion that changed his mind, it wasn't legislated morality, it was a mere calling by God to seek a different way.

Still there are others that will tell you they were born gay, and I do not live inside their body, so I'm not going to make a judgement call on them. It simply isn't my place to do so, nor is it anyone else's place.

People should be free to believe the way they believe, free from attacks by others, and by the same token, people should be free to do with their God given bodies, what they choose to do with them. If you think a person lives a lifestyle that is in disagreements with your belief's, then your job is to love that person and pray for them.

By the same token, trying to run a person out of business because they believe different from you does not give you the right to try and ruin their business or tell that person, "Your business is not welcome in our town". You will not change that person's belief's by boycotting their business, and you should not infringe on their freedom of speech. Respect works both ways.

If you are gay and you want tolerance, you must show tolerance, and if you are Christian, and you want people to respect your belief's, then you must show respect for their choices. It does not mean you have to agree with them or condone what you consider bad behavior, it simply means, we live in a free country and each person should be free to make their own choices. The only person we can control in this world is ourselves, and most of us have a hard time doing that.

The Bible says, "Let those of you without sin cast the first stone". And when attacked by another, turn the other cheek. Grace was what was imparted to us on the cross and it is free to all men.

All I know is what the bible says, and all I can do, is do my best to follow those words. It says what it says, and there are things I do that at times that differ from the word, but I will not try and change it to suit my own wants, and I'm not going to have someone else tell me that it or what I believe should be changed to suit theirs. I won't try and force you to go by my belief's, and neither should you try and force me to go by yours. That is what freedom is truly about.

I'm sure some will disagree with me on this from both sides, and I don't claim to know all the answers, this is only my thoughts in the search for answers. I welcome all comments from both sides.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Yet that is what the American voter does year after year, voting along party lines, hoping for a change that never comes.

A good friend of mine, World War ll veteran, Frank Richardson, sums it up pretty well. "We are becoming a dictatorship, everything I fought against in World War ll. First they required me to have a license to drive on the roads we built, told us the unpasteurized milk we grew up drinking was not healthy for us, then they required me to have car insurance, required me to wear a seat belt, and now they are going to fine me if I don't have health insurance."

"I've driven all over this country for 72 years and never wore a seat belt, I went to Germany and fought the Germans, got bombed three times, in three different army vehicles,and never wore a seat belt, and I survived, I drank unpasteurized milk and I survived, I don't go to the doctor, I just take a good dose of Castor oil about every six months, and I survived."

Our forefathers braved tempestuous seas, the cold of a mini ice age, disease, starvation and war so we could have the freedoms we sit back on our haunches and allow to be taken from us.

We live in a country full of whooshes that think they need to be protected from everything, and told what to eat, what to drink, what to wear, what to smoke, and what to do with their body given to them by our creator.

In New York it is so bad there will soon be a law banning the selling of coke products that are over 16 ounces, and you are prohibited from giving food to a homeless shelter if it does not meet dietary guidelines.

You can be labeled a smuggler into the United States if you grow a garden, and sell any of your tomatoes to a neighbor, and a felon if you step into an orange grove in Florida.

Men and women are being disenfranchised (their right to vote taken from them) for things like the possession of Marijuana, or a felony DUI, failure to pay child support, liquor law violations, drunkenness, curfew, and loitering, just to name a few. Felonies use to be reserved for violent crimes, but not anymore.

If a person has paid for their crimes they should have their rights restored because this country was founded on "No taxation without Representation." And before you get your panties or shorts in a wad because I'm talking about people labeled criminals here, what makes you think you are not next?

We just saw a pastor in Phoenix Arizona fined over $12,000. and sentenced to 60 days in jail for holding a Bible study class in his home, because it was a violation of zoning laws. The pastor was charged with not having emergency exit signs over the doors, handicap parking spaces, and not having handicap ramps.

From red lights that take your picture as you go through them, tracking devices on your cell phone, to tag readers that can tell the police where you are and where you have been, asset forfeiture laws, to little black boxes in your vehicle to record any wrecks you have, to drone's that are allowed to fly over the United States and spy on us. All of these things are suppose to keep us safe from ourselves, and safe from the criminal element.

Most people's reply is, if your not doing anything wrong, then you don't have anything to worry about. The only criminal element they have overlooked are the ones in government that want to control every aspect of their lives, and are the biggest criminals of all, and they want what you have.

Everything is always done under the guise of "Protecting" us. It is always to catch the bad guy, but with every day that goes by, being human is slowly being turned into a crime. There are no saints.

A great Native American proverb tells the story of a grandfather talking to his grandson. He tells his grandson about two wolves that are at war with each other. One wolf is vicious and violent. It is full of fear, hatred, anger, and destruction. The other wolf, however, is kind and peaceful. It is full of love, joy, gentleness, and goodness. These two wolves, the elder explains, are forever at war with each other inside of us. The boy then asks the elder which wolf will win. The elder smiles and says, "the one you feed."

However, our country can be likened to a tale of three wolves, two of them have their own agenda, and one represents the people. One wants to enslave and socialize you into the system, and take the responsibility off of your shoulders and put it onto the shoulders of everyone else, and the other wants to rip off the little man and leaving him begging for crumbs; both want to enslave you, they just have different approaches to the same goal.

They both spend like there is no tomorrow, have trampled your freedom's, spent us into a debt so great that we may soon find ourselves in the same situation as Greece, Portugal, Iceland, Spain, and countless other countries, and take they take your vote for granted.

They drink and party on your dime, give themselves lavish health plans, raises, and a retirement plan we could only dream about; all for serving 4 years in office, and exempt themselves from the same laws they require you to obey.

The third wolf is The Libertarian Party, they take the good from both parties and create balance. http://www.lp.org/ and are the only party that truly represents the people.

Washington won't change unless you make it change, and if you continue to believe no other party can win, and are so hell bent on voting for one party, because you think they are the lessor of two evils, then no, no other party can win. However, if you want to give Washington a wake up call, then vote both parties out of office.

Your forefathers died for change, all you have to do is vote.

3 Year Old Dies of Hyperthermia In Philadelphia, MS. Backseat Child Restraint Laws Possibly to Blame.

For far too long we have let the insurance companies and the government dictate to parents how they should raise their children. When I was growing up we didn't wear seat belts, and I rode to town every Saturday in the back of my great-uncle Arnold's truck, and I survived, as did everyone I knew. It was also the some of the best times of my life.

Today in Philadelphia, Mississippi, a three year old died because their parent, who happened to be a lawyer, accidentally left them in the car too long. More than likely it was because the child was placed in the back seat, as required by law, and the parent forgot they were there.

Because the law picks and chooses who it will prosecute, many are outraged and want the lawyer charged, because they know if it had been them that caused this awful accident, they would go to jail, but what could be a worst punishment than losing your child?

The law requiring children to be placed in the back seat is to blame for many of these needless deaths of children.

Between 1990-1992, before insurance companies and the government started dictating that children be placed in the back seat of cars there were only 11 recorded deaths of children from hyperthermia.

Since that time, in just a three year period, 2009-2011 there have been 118 known fatalities of children that were mostly accidental deaths caused by the child being left in a hot vehicle. Most of the time the caregiver forgot the child was there.

These statistics do not include the number of children that have chocked to death on their own vomit while in the back seat or the countless accidents caused by parents trying to tend to a baby in the back seat.

Caregivers, grandparents, and parents that are not use to caring for a little one are often the ones that make this tragic mistake. The child goes to sleep or is really quiet, and they forget they are there. Out of site, out of mind.

There is not a parent that has never made a mistake with their child that could have resulted in injury or death. Don't think it could never happen to you or someone you love, because it could.

The government now has it's nose in every aspect of our lives, from our cars to the bedroom and the dinner table, and it is time it stopped.

Instead of passing new laws every time the wind blows, we need to get back to the basics of live and let live, and in order to do that, we need to be taking laws off the books, not putting more on.

The ones that make the laws don't even know what the law is anymore, and the Bible says, "To be a doer of the law, you must first be a hearer of the law".

If you look back to history, when most countries revolt, it is not usually for the reasons you think, it is for the simple fact that the law becomes unbearable, and the people, tired of being oppressed by laws that barely leave room to be human, watch as those that make and pass the laws, can not themselves hold up under the scrutiny of the law, but often escape the same punishment that the common man receives. It is called Tyranny and that is the path we are headed down, and in fact, we are already there.

This is a tragic accident, plain and simple, and in my opinion, the fault lies with a law that probably endangers more children than it saves, and causes people to be charged with a crime resulting in felony conviction, at probably the worst moment in their lives, the death of a precious child.

As Christians, instead of calling for more and more laws to be passed, we should all read in our Bible, and realize that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, set us free from the bondage of the law and imparted to us the law of grace. Should we not also extend that grace to others?

There was a time in my life I would have been outraged, and jumped on the bandwagon of hang em high, but God has taught me to watch the things I say, because your words have a way of coming back to haunt you. Imagine one of your loved ones facing what this family is facing, and ask yourself, how you would feel. Look at your son or daughter, who is otherwise a great parent, and imagine this happening to them.

I'm the first to point out the unfairness of our justice system; the innocent people that go to prison because they don't have the money or the connections to fight charges against them, and I've watched as the have's go without punishment, while the have not's are punished unfairly.

However, I would not want to see any person go to prison, regardless of their social status, for something that was an accident, and something they will suffer with for the rest of their lives. Putting him in prison will accomplish nothing, because the purpose of prison is to make a person wish to remain free, and obey the law, and this was one tragic accident that I'm sure will never be repeated.

Some type of warning system to remind caregivers that their is a small child in the back is what is desperately needed to stop this tragic loss of life.

It is said that all children under 12 (not just infants) are 29% safer in the back seat, but at what point do the hazards of riding in the front outweigh the hazards of riding in the back? All of these things should be taken into consideration, and I have not found a study yet that answers this question.

Compare this story and the Trayvon Martin case to these two cases in Mississippi.

Chris Ethridge, Legendary Bassist for The Flying Burrito Brothers and Willie Nelson, Passes Away at 65

Some call him "Easter" from the movie "Honeysuckle Rose", some call him a Legend, some credit the group he helped found, "The Flying Burrito Brothers", with merging rock and country, but those who knew him best called him son, father, brother, mentor, and friend.

We have all met the struggling artist with an ego bigger than the stars, and we have also met those that have had a certain amount of fame that were puffed up, egotistical, and vain. For some it is in their nature, and for others it is a necessary survival technique in a business that sometimes takes peoples dreams and does it's best to rip them to shreds.

Chris was one of those souls that did not require vanity for survival, he had something deep in his nature that was humble, gentle, soft spoken, and never proud or boastful. Those qualities endeared Chris to many struggling artist and people from all walks of life. It did not matter to Chris how much talent a person had, if he could help guide them, he would.

I met Chris the first time I ever performed live, playing my guitar and singing a song I wrote. I can assure you that the dog howls when I sing, and runs when I play the guitar, but Chris, who was out in the audience, was so kind to me afterward, told me how much he enjoyed it, and even though I knew I was horrible, he made me feel like a million bucks.

We became fast friends, and I, like most people that have had the pleasure of knowing him, simply fell in love with the kindest, sweetest, man I have ever met. Those who have had the pleasure of being his friend will tell you he had a certain sparkle in his eyes, a laugh and way of telling stories that drew you in and hooked you like a hungry fish ready to snap at the first thing that looked like food.

The only time I ever saw Chris look remotely mad was over something that happened thirty years ago. He was in California and a friend of his tried to get him to eat a Habanero pepper. Chris ask if it was hot, and the friend told him no, so Chris took a bite. He said the pepper was so hot it made him cry, and just talking about, and remembering how hot that pepper was, brought about the most unpleasant look I ever saw on Chris's face.

Chris had several people approach him about writing a book, and his first thought was always his desire to respect and honor those he knew, and his desire to make sure nothing would be said in the book that might hurt or embarrass anyone he knew.

Not only was Chris kind to those he met in public, his kindness and love manifested itself in his love for his family. I remember one particular day his mom was a little under the weather, and I went with him to the Winn Dixie to buy her some Kleenex. Most people, especially men, would have grabbed the first box they saw, but not Chris, he looked until he was satisfied he had found the prettiest box of Kleenex in the store, because he thought the beautifully colored flowers on the box would make her feel better.

Even in the hospital, his first thoughts extended to his family, especially his children, and their well being.

I, like so many others that were blessed to have him as a friend, will remember Chris, not for his fame, but for the love, joy, and peace he gave to light our day and make our time on Earth a little brighter, and the heavy loads life sometimes sends, a little lighter..

Rest in peace my friend...I will love and cherish the memories... until we meet again. See you on Heaven's highway 45.

Trayvon Martin, Michael Lindsey: Different Colored Skin, the Same Good Old Boy System.

The Trayvon Martin issue has captured national attention, and the outrage is as strong in the white community as it is in the black community. Many whites are outraged that there is no charge in this crime, while others are in a tizzy because they say black on white crime is not considered a hate crime when racial slurs are used, and they are right about that, but most of the black on white crime that has been passed around are crimes that have been prosecuted. The issue here is that Zimmerman is not being prosecuted.

Zimmerman's story did not add up to police, and police wanted to make an arrest, but it was put on hold by a judge. It is my personal belief there should not be a hate crimes bill because all it does is cause division. Crime is crime, it does not matter the color of the victim. I happen to think if you kill someone you hated them at the moment, and the reason why you killed them is irrelevant to the fact of murder. If you committed a crime, you should be charged, and it should be sorted out by a jury.

Zimmerman is claiming he is covered under the stand your ground, "Castle Doctrine" which states that if you feel your life or the life of someone close to you is threatened you have no duty to retreat. Zimmerman is using Castle Doctrine to escape prosecution, but Castle Doctrine also states if you have a lawful right to be somewhere and you feel threatened, you do not have a duty to retreat, and it is obvious that Trayvon Martin had a right to be where he was, and had no duty to retreat when he felt threatened by Zimmerman, and it is obvious from his phone conversation with his girlfriend he felt threatened, and he also had the right to do what he felt he need to do in order to feel safe. So here we have a catch 22 when it comes to "Castle Doctrine".

Castle Doctrine is being used more and more as a defense for what is cold blooded murder, and it is also allowing people that commit crimes to escape accountability for their actions. I'm not saying Zimmerman is guilty or innocent, I'm saying his guilt or innocence needs to be determined in a court of law.

Most young men have been in a fight at some point in their life. So let me give you something to think about. If your son and another boy get into a fist fight, and your son is getting the best of his opponent, does that give his opponent the right to shoot and kill him? If you, as a parent, are watching the fight, and the other boy is winning, does that give you the right to shoot and kill the other boy or if your son is getting the best of his opponent, does that give the other parent the right to shoot and kill your son?

If your son was white, and he was walking through a gated community wearing a hoodie, and a man followed him in his car at night, and then started following him on foot, and your son started running, and the man continued to follow him, and your son decided to stop running, and a fight broke out, and the man shot and killed your son, would you think it was justified? The fact is, most children would be afraid no matter who was following them, I know I would have been, and I am an adult.

Would you think you at least would have the right to see a trial to determine whether it was justified or not. I can assure you I would. I would want to see a jury determine the truth about what happened. Not the media, not the KKK, not the NAACP, but a fair and impartial jury made up of your peers.

More often than not, whether there is a charge or not, depends on who you know, and who you are friends with. If there was nothing to hide, then why was the boy’s body held in the morgue for three days before anyone tried to contact his family? Why does there appear to be no blood or serious injury on Zimmerman? If he was hurt so bad, as to fear for his life, why was there no hospital visit? Why could you hear someone yell in the background on the call Martin made to his girlfriend right before it sounded like someone hit Martin and his phone went dead? Why was there no bruising on Martin's hands if he was involved in such a horrific fight as portrayed by Zimmerman? These are all questions any reasonable person should ask, and questions we all deserve to hear answers to.

Zimmerman's father is a former judge, and Zimmerman was a familiar name to the police, had he been someone they did not know, there would probably have been an arrest, and a charge of manslaughter, at the very least. This is just another example of how the Castle Doctrine is used to protect the connected in society from prosecution, while a poor man would have been stripped of his rights and hauled before a jury.

Another case in Mississippi that should have been covered by "Castle Doctrine" is the Michael Lindsey case in Pearl, Mississippi. Let’s contrast the Trayvon Martin case and the Michael Lindsey case for a moment.

Michael Lindsey was getting ready for bed when he heard a commotion coming down the street; he stuck his head out to see what was going on. It was a neighbor that had broken the window out of Mike's vehicle earlier in the day. Mike retaliated by breaking the window out of his vehicle.

Lindsey tried to calm the guy down, and told him, lets talk about this. The guy did not want to talk, he wanted to fight. He took a beer bottle from his back pocket and broke it over Michael Lindsey's head, and then proceeded to grind the broken beer bottle into Lindsey's face that required 50 stitches, broke two of his ribs (Lindsey thought he had been stabbed) and partially collapsed two of Lindsey's lungs, and pulled huge chunks of Lindsey's hair out with the clumps falling on Lindsey's doorstep.

Lindsey begged and pleaded for someone to call an ambulance. When he tried to break free, his attacker ripped off his shirt as he was trying to get into his house. He made it in his house with blood streaming into his eyes, his contacts out ground out by the beer bottle; he glanced outside and saw his attacker with his arm around his roommate, and thought he was attacking him. He saw a knife lying on the kitchen counter, grabbed it and went outside and stabbed his attacker once to disable him, and hoped he would call an ambulance, because Lindsey felt he was bleeding to death. His attacker died from internal injuries.

Lindsey was listed by emergency personnel as a priority one life threat, and they thought he had been shot because of the amount of blood he lost.

Lindsey, according to law, should have been covered under "Castle Doctrine", but he wasn't. Instead he was charged with murder, and because he had a felony conviction over 30 years old, was threatened under the habitual offender law with life in prison unless he accepted a plea deal for manslaughter. He was given the maximum sentence, and is now in prison serving a twenty year sentence.

If Michael Lindsey, with life threatening injuries, was not covered under "Castle Doctrine", why should Zimmerman, who did not even need to go to the hospital, be covered?

Regardless of whose side you are picking on this issue, don't you think it at least deserves to go before a jury and be heard?

These two cases not only highlight the inequities of "Castle Doctrine", but they also highlight the inequities in our justice system.

Who is charged and who is not, more often has more to do with a person's connection's in society; their connections to law enforcement, their standing in society, how much money they have, or the color of their skin.

We have watched as high profile killers go unpunished, and people like Lindsay Lohan, who is in and out of trouble, always escapes the same punishment those without connections receive for the same crime.

Whites and blacks have a lot more in common on this issue than race, and we all need to come together to demand better from our justice system. As long as we allow the news media, and others, to divide us by race, we will be divided. We are one nation, under God, and it is time for us to come together and demand justice and fairness in our court systems, regardless of the color of ones skin, social or economic status.

It is also time for the people to demand that, if the state is going to provide paid expert witnesses against a defendant, they should also have to provide a paid expert for the defense, or else it is not a fair, impartial trial, because the prosecution's expert witness never goes against what the police say, they say what they are paid to say, and many times it is refuted by other experts, but the defendant does not have the money and resources the state has to hire those experts.

Maybe it is time to repeal the Castle Doctrine and the hate crimes bill, and get back to the basics of our judicial system.

Voice experts have determined that the voice heard in the video below, crying for help, could not be Zimmerman's. That leads me to the conclusion they belong to Trayvon Martin.

Heartbreaking to listen to. I just hope justice prevails.

Innocent Man to be Put to Death in Mississippi? The Jeffrey Havard Story.

Jeffrey Havard was 22 years old, working on an oil rig, and doing very well in life. He had plans of going to college, and making an ever better life for himself, but all of that changed when Jeffrey did something most of us parents have done many times. Give a baby a bath.

The day 6 month old Cloe Madison Britt passed away, Jeffrey's girlfriend, Rebecca Britt, picked Cloe up from the day care, and rode around with her for a few hours. When she finally made it home, Jeffrey gave her some money, and sent her to buy some groceries, while he watched the baby. She bought groceries and then returned home for a few hours. Rebecca then left the house and went to the local video store to rent a video for them to watch at home.

What happened next would change both of their lives forever, and result in the death of a precious 6 month old baby girl, Chloe Madison Britt, and put an innocent man on death row.

According to Paige Sullivan, Jeffrey Havard's sister, Jeffrey had dated quite a few girls that had children, and had never had a problem. When Jeffrey met Rebecca, she and little Cloe were living in a Meth house (the mother denies this), and although they had not been dating long, Jeffrey was ready to settle down, so he moved Rebecca and baby Cloe in with him, and gave the baby her own room.

A month before the accident, Jeffrey took Rebecca and Cloe to Tennessee with him to visit his sister Paige and her newborn baby, and celebrate New Years with his family.

"He wanted to make a family video of all of us celebrating New Years together, and he brought Rebecca and Cloe along", says Paige. "The first thing I noticed was that Rebecca was really stressed, uptight and fidgety. They were at my house for two days, and Jeffrey primarily took care of the baby; changing her diaper and such, and Rebecca did very little, and acted like she didn't want the baby around. The baby seemed a little sick, and Rebecca gave her some benadryl".

"When we got ready to do fireworks, Cloe, started crying. Jeffrey took her, and sang to her, as he walked her back and forth to calm her. He then laid down on the couch with her, put her on his chest, and they both ended up going to sleep. As long as Jeffrey was holding Cloe, she wouldn't cry." says Paige. Cloe was just an adorable baby."

"Imagine my shock", says Paige, "When Rebecca Britt, Cloe's mother, looked at me and told me she and Jeff wanted to go to the mountains, and leave 5 month old Cloe with me. I had just given birth to my second child, who was only a day old. Jeff insisted on keeping Cloe with them, and said there was no reason anyone should keep Cloe, that she could just go with them."

"Jeffrey, Cloe and Rebecca left my house and went to get a hotel room in Chattanooga to watch the fireworks from up on the mountain, and that was the last time I would see my brother outside a prison cell."

After Jeffrey and Rebecca returned to their home, according to Paige, Jeffrey was giving the baby a bath inside the garden tub, inside another baby tub. As Jeffrey was bringing her out to dry her off, 26 pound Cloe wiggled and slipped from Jeffrey's hands, and hit the toilet tank with her head. She gasped for a minute, but seemed fine so he put lotion on her, patted her, and loved her all up for a few minutes, and put her to bed. When Rebecca returned, about half an hour later, and went to check on Cloe, she found her blue, but still breathing. Rebecca tried to give her CPR.

Jeffrey and Rebecca rushed little Cloe to the hospital where Rebecca's mother worked. She or one of the other nurses noticed baby Cloe's anus was dilated.

This started the investigation and charges against Jeffrey for rape and murder.

Police went in and searched the home and found sheets in a basket near the washing machine. Jeffrey told them he was washing the sheets because they were dirty and had food on them. The police took the sheets into evidence and presented them in the court room to show what a vile person Jeffrey was, insinuating the stains were semen, and the baby died from Shaken Baby Syndrome, in the process of a rape. However, when the lab did test on the sheets the stains came back from the lab as Gerber bananas.

Although Jeffrey could afford a lawyer, he said he was innocent, and wasn't worried, so he let a public defender represent him. (After trial the public defender was arrested for Cocaine possession.)

Paige says, "Jeff had no defense what so ever, not even an objection, and none of the witnesses on his behalf were allowed to testify. He had a public defender, and that is where it all went wrong. no criminal record. He was a very loving and giving person."

Paige says, "The hospital said the baby's anus was dilated, but there was no tearing, no blood, no DNA evidence in the swabs they took. My brother ask for a lie detector test, but was denied. Although rape charges against Jeffrey were dropped, because there was no evidence a rape occurred, they brought it up at trial, and used it against him, and he was given a capital offense, because they said he committed murder in the process of another crime, rape, and as a result Cloe died from shaken baby syndrome. There was a 1 centimeter bruise, on the baby's leg on the back side, they wanted Jeffrey to explain how the bruise got there."

The family of Jeffrey requested James Lauricson of Alabama to look over the autopsy, and he found absolutely no evidence of a sexual assault or Shaken Baby Syndrome.

In addition to his findings, The Clarion Ledger of Jackson Mississippi requested world-renowned pathologist Dr. Michael Baden of New York city to review the autopsy report filed by Mississippi Medical Examiner, Steven Hayne, and Baden said he does not believe a sexual assault or a murder took place. That there was no shaken baby syndrome and the bruising on the head and other areas is totally consistent with the baby having been dropped.

Baden also stated that a dilated anus can occur during a coma or death, and Cloe's eyes were fixed and dilated when she arrived at the hospital. Since the trial, Hayne has acknowledged in a sworn statement that dilated anal sphincters also may be seen on a person prior to death without significant brain function.

"My brother told me when I visited him, "I just want my freedom back, if they can just admit they were wrong, that is all I want, I don't care about money or anything else."

No defense, no objections, an uncertified medical examiner; the same medical examiner that has testified in Mike Lynzy's case that the cut marks on the man's hands were from defensive wounds, totally ignoring the fact that the guy had just busted a beer bottle over Mike Lynzy's head and ground it into his face, the same medical examiner that has sent at least three Mississippi men to death row that were later proven innocent, the same medical examiner that does three times as many autopsy's as is recommended, and some say testifies to whatever the police tell him happened.

"A CSI investigator said he did not see any evidence of sexual abuse either, and got very upset when he saw the autopsy report. A blind man can see my brother is innocent, and this is ridiculous. If they have done this to my brother, they have done it to many others", says Paige.

It was all about the good old boy system, it didn't matter what the evidence said, they decided he was guilty without any evidence and proceeded that way. The public defender that represented Jeff was busted for cocaine right after the trial, and the mother of the childs' brother was busted for his meth lab."

"The only witness against him were the people at the hospital, the grandmother and others that were with the baby at the hospital. People drop kids and all kinds of accidents happen. The garden tub has two steps and the toilet is right there, and they are so close, and slippery, and she was a large baby, and her wiggling around, it all happened so fast. The jury was prejudiced by the rape that was brought up that didnt' occur." says Paige.

In this case absolutely no evidence exist to show that Havard sexually abused Cloe or murdered her.

If Jeffrey's post-conviction appeal is denied by the Supreme court, he will most assuredly be put to death by execution. One appeal has been denied on ineffective assistant of council, the constitution just guarantees you can be represented by a lawyer, it doesn't mean he has to be a good lawyer, and if he fails to object when he should, that is just your tough luck.

When I first looked at this case I read the appeal, and based on what I read about the sheets, I was hesitant to write this story, just the evidence that was presented in the appeal against him, like the sheets being changed, made me leery. However, once I heard the rest of the evidence, or lack of evidence, I changed my mind. If a two year old child was raped by a grown man, I would think there would be sever internal injuries, and there were not, and there is absolutely no evidence that a rape or murder occurred.

Cases like this have made me against the death penalty. I tend to agree with John Adams, one of the founders of our great constitution, "It is better that three guilty men go free than one innocent man be sent to prison."

To sentence a man to death without any evidence of guilt, a lousy public defender, and junk science, should turn the stomach of any human being that values life. All of us, as citizens of this great country, should demand better from our court systems. If we do nothing, then the blood of innocent men is on our hands, as well as the hands of any person in our judicial system that withholds evidence of innocence, or denies turning over a ruling of guilty, when there is evidence that says otherwise.

You never know, it could be you on trial, totally innocent and sentenced to death.

When I was a kid citing the Pledge of Allegiance in school, I never imagined I would see the day the Constitution would be ripped to shreds, but it happened on the anniversary of the Bill of Rights, with the enactment of The US is a Battlefield, and the signing of The Defense Authorization Bill.. Even the senators that knew it was wrong, and had misgivings, voted it in.

Why, you may ask? The answers are simple. 1. They know if they voted against a military spending bill, that it would be used against them in the next election, because their opponents would say, when he was in office he voted against money for our troops. In their mind, getting re-elected is more important than your constitutional rights. 2. They aren't worried about it, because they think the American people will vote them back in office, like they always do. 3. They know that when the US dollar sinks, and becomes worthless, this country is going to go crazy so they are making their preparations now.

The possibility exist that the numerous prisons around this country, that are empty, were built for a reason. To imprison the American people that stand up for liberty. You will become a "Terrorist", described in the bill as; people missing fingers, having 7 days of food, or more, in their home, gun owners (especially those with waterproof ammunition, (just to name a few), and you won't have to worry about voting, because you will be locked away, without benefit of trial, charge, or lawyer, and you can be held until the war on terror ends, which will be never.

The terrorist groups will be Christians, Civil Libertarians, Tea Party Activist, NRA members, anyone that does not support the government's agenda, and The New World Order. When they kick in your door, take your loved ones away, it will be too late to complain, to vote, to care, because it will be perfectly legal.

Some of you say, this is needed to fight terrorism from groups like Al-Qaeda, but nothing could be further from the truth. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, did our government find it necessary to shred the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, no, because there was no need. This country has gotten along fine, with our current system, so if it's not broke, why fix it?

The problem that everyone seems to overlook is this. The bill states it will only be terrorist, but if you have no benefit of charge, trial, or a lawyer, then who is to say WHY you were picked up. One American has already been picked up, and taken away, and charged with a train bombing in Spain. The only reason he was released was because Spain told us his fingerprints did not match those found.

In addition, prison's for profit, are the going thing now. It is financially beneficial to those in power to lock you away because they take kick-backs from the owners of those prisons. In addition, when I watched the Presidential debates, they also want to be able to do away with our court system as it stands.

1. Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy (This was accomplished on 911)

2. Create a Gulag, a prison system outside the rule of law (Guantanamo bay was the first), but with the passage of "The US is a Battlefield" law, there will be many more to come.

3. Develop a Thug Caste: Armed, private security contractors, the kind we used in Iraq.

4. Set up an internal surveillance system said to be about National Security, but whose true function is to prevent dissent and activism.

5. Harass citizens groups (like demonizing The Occupy Movement, The Tea Party, and planting trouble makers to turn public opinion against them.)

6. Engage in arbitrary detention and release

7. Target key individuals

8. Control the press

9. Dissent equals treason

10. Suspend the rule of law (The John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007 gave the president new powers over the national guard.)

Many of these things have already been accomplished, and the rest of it is being worked on.

You can either be a good little citizen and agree with everything the government says, or you will be picked up and held as a potential trouble maker.

If many of you can get past the words, George Bush, in Naomi Wolf's article, you will understand what is happening in our country, and maybe, just maybe, have a wake up call.

Right now the United States houses 25% of the world's prisoners, but is under 5% of the world's population, and that figure continues to grow everyday as we put more in more people in prison for minor infractions of the law, while those of the elite class live under a different set of rules.

Everyone knows the next sought after goal is to do away with guns. They are having a problem doing that, so what do they do, they make crimes that were once minor infractions of the law a felony. If they can't out and out win their war on your rights, they will do it underhanded, by making everything a felony and doing away with your vote.

The poverty rate in America is now about 50% of the population, and growing. It isn't because America is not a prosperous country, it is because our government is controlled by corporate America instead of the people. The middle class is slowly being destroyed, and soon there will only be rich and poor, master and slave.

Your vote, as long as you vote Democrat, or Republican, is bought and paid for by Corporate contributions, and that is who they answer to.

Notice how Ron Paul has a huge following, but the news media acts like he barely exist. Many polls have shown him in a tie with Romney, but when I watched the news about the debates, they only showed the so called two front runners, Romney and Gingrich. The reason for that is because they want you to believe that Ron Paul can't win. They believe you will do what you have always done and vote party lines, but the truth is both parties are one in the same, and kiss behind closed doors.

The Democrats think if they tell the people they can get something for nothing, that segment of the population will vote for them, and the Republicans believe that if they say, "I'm a Christian" you are going to vote for them. They draw up laws they know don't stand a snowman's chance in hell of passing, right before election time, but I find it strange that the three years before they did absolutely nothing. Not every one of the Senators who voted for this provision are bad people, but many of them are wolves in sheep's clothing, appearing as angels of light, but in reality are nothing more than self-serving, pawns of darkness. Those who are not, are simply misguided, and in order to clean up Washington, a few of the good, will have to be sacrificed with the bad.

Our children, the ones that are pushed out of school or drop out, do not have the benefit of history to look to, because they have never been taught, if their parents failed to do so. They don't appreciate constitutional freedom, or Pearl Harbor, or the war against Nazi Germany, because they know nothing about it. The ones left in school wear their little uniforms, and are being prepped for total government control. Under no child left behind, the school is their parent, and now you will be charged with neglect, if you fail to put your children under the influence of mind altering drugs, because the government says so.

Our courts are rife with evil doers, that lock the common man away for minor infractions, while they themselves are the biggest law breakers of all. They molest children, send children to prison for profit, let criminals off, depending on how much money they are paid, and take kickbacks from lawyers behind closed doors, in exchange for a favorable sentence. Those who do not have money are given harsh sentences because they are poor, have long hair, or the color of their skin is wrong.

The only way this country has, of being restored to greatness, is to do away with the status quo, and vote reform party; vote every single career politician that is in office out, vote your favorite judges out, your prosecutors out, and send a message that we the American people are fed up and won't take anymore corruption or anymore shredding of our constitution. (If you keep doing what you have always done, you will keep getting what you have always got.)

As for me, I only know the lessons I was taught in history class, and history is all we have to follow, and if you look back to history, you will see the dangerous slope we are sliding down and put a stop to it.

Don't let them turn American against American by allowing them to villify the Wall Street movement or Christians, or the Tea Party, or anyone else we might agree or disagree with. This country does not belong to one group, but to all of us. United we stand, divided we fall. We must all agree to disagree, and never give our power to one group.

Nikita Khrushchev said, "We will destroy America with out firing a single shot, not from without, but from within."

America has a chance to remain the great country our forefather's founded, but time is quickly slipping away, and a day of reckoning is coming. Only you can make a difference, through your vote and prayer.

As for me, I plan on standing by the same words I proclaimed as a child, "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

And quite simply, that means, every man, woman and child in this country, citizens, deserves the right, when arrested, to be charged, face their accusers in a court of law, and receive a just sentence, according to the law of the land.

The following are the only Senators that voted to protect the Constitution. If it isn't too late, next election, vote the rest of them out, and demand that a new law be drafted that NOTHING can be added to a defense bill for our troops.

The world financial crisis is headed for the United States after Europe. When it does, it isn't going to be pretty. Watch your stock portfolio, and if you think you will need any of that money, leave it in your broker account, but have them take some of it out of stocks and hold in their money market account. That way you won't incur a penalty for drawing it out.

Nightmare at The Doctor's Office (I'm Furious and You Should be Too)

More and more Federal and state governments are intruding on the rights of individuals and what they do with their own God given bodies.

Part 1: My Brush With Death

Flashback to April of 2010. Having trouble sleeping I went to see Certified Nurse Practitioner, at the Philadelphia Health Center in Philadelphia, Mississippi. I informed her that I was allergic or had had serious reactions to drugs in the NSAID family, and that since an auto accident in 2007, I had, as needed, taken Clarispodol (Soma) to help me with sleep. She informed me that Clarispodol was not a clean drug and I would not get it from her. Since, I didn't have any money at the time for another doctor visit, I was left at her mercy.

Clarispodol took care of two problems for me, the pain in my neck and sleep. After the accident it was very hard for me to get to sleep because my neck felt stiff, and had an electric shock like pain it in, and it would send pain down my arm, making it hard to get comfortable. As always, I took one before I went to bed, and one 4 hours later when I awoke. It allowed me to get good rest, and it only stayed in my system for four hours, and unlike Unisom or some of the other sleep or pain medications, it would be out of my system when it was time to get up, and did not leave me with a hangover or fatigued the next day.

After informing me that she would not give me Clarispodol, (she said she had worked too hard for her license, and was taking no chances on losing it) she wrote me a prescription for Tramadol (which I later find out is a very addictive drug and unlike Clarispodol, you can't just stop taking it).

Unfortunately, I needed sleep, so I had no choice but to do what she suggested. I got ready for bed, and took one tramadol tablet, and mercifully, I fell asleep. However, when I woke up, I felt like I had been struck by a virus or something. I could barely move my body down my hallway to the kitchen, and when I bent down to get a pan out of my cabinet, it took all of my strength to get back up, and I was having trouble breathing, and my left leg beneath the knee and my foot became swollen.

A few days later I started to recover, and went for a walk with my friend, however, as we walked my foot started to swell. I went back to the CNP, and she gave me fluid pills (I know know that was the worst thing she could do for me). She never checked me for Congestive Heart Failure or tried to find out what was wrong with me. Shortly after that I began to gain weight, so much, that within about 6 months I had ballooned from 125 lbs to 170 something pounds.

My deck, that was usually lined with green plants and flowers sat vacant that next summer. I did not have the energy to plant flowers, to walk, or do any of the things I had enjoyed in life before. I have always been hyperactive with a lot of energy and now it was all gone. In addition to that I started having small muscle spasm's from my head to my feet. I called a doctors office and they told me, to just drink some gatorade.

A friend of mine, Natascha Trest, a former nurse came over and we tried to figure out the problem. I had all the symptoms of Hypothyroid, but it is usually an inherited disorder, and no one in my family had ever had it, so I dismissed it. Another family member, also a nurse, told me it was also symptoms of Congestive Heart Failure.

Luckily for me, I happen to sit down by a stranger in Philadelphia and while sitting there a friend of mine came by and yanked on my shirt and said, "It looks like your pregnant". I commented to the lady next to me, "I don't know what is going on, I've gained all of this weight, and I'm having spasm's all over my body, including my head." She said, oh honey, that is your thyroid, I have the exact same problem."

A few more weeks went by, and the spasm's became worse. In fact they hit so hard in my chest that it felt like it knocked my hand off my chest. I had to go to Jackson for a funeral, so while I was there I went to the University Medical Center Emergency Room. I explained to the doctor what was happening to me and ask her to check my thyroid. It wasn't long she came back into the room, and said, "You are right, it is your thyroid".

Finally an answer as to why I had no energy, why I had spasms, why my leg was swelling, why my hair was dry and thin, why I could not remember anything, and suffered from confusion.

Previous to taking Tramadol I had been trading stocks for a living and doing very well, but as the confusion and exhaustion took over my life, I seemed to have lost my touch. I could no longer decide when to buy and when to sell. Always a very active person, I seldom left my house.

As I began taking the thyroid medicine my world came back into focus. I was alive again, and my energy, although not to previous levels, was returning. So was my ability to think and try and figure out what had happened to me.

It took me countless hours of research but I finally found out that Tramadol can cause Hyponatremia (low sodium) and Hypokalemia (low Potassium) (the reason for my muscle spasms and leg cramps), and on top of that, instead of trying to find out what was causing the swelling, teh CNP gave me fluid pills, which may have decreased my sodium and potassium even more.

Whether Tramadol caused my Hypothyroid or simply pushed it over the edge, I'll probably never know. If you have a thyroid problem you are not suppose to take Tramadol, and this is why doctors should perform lab test on their patients to rule out other problems before blindly throwing a pill at you.

One pill, and my life is forever changed. When I posed on my facebook page about it making me sick the one and only time I took it, someone inboxed me and said, "Stay away from Tramadol" it is highly addictive, dangerous drug.

Many CNP's and Doctors, are afraid to even treat their patients that need it, with anything that might be considered a controlled substance. As a result, patients like me, who are multi-drug sensitive or allergic, are literally dying or injured, by being forced to take medications they are allergic to or unfamiliar with.

Prior to a car wreck in 2007, I rarely took any kind of pain medication unless I was in the hospital or had a tooth pulled. I hate pills, so an aspirin or a Tylenol was a rarity too. Ibuprofin hurt my stomach, Naproxen (Aleve) gave me ulcers, and aspirin (which I wish I could take once a day) gave me an Asthma attack.

The so called War on Drugs is destroying the doctor patient relationship, and causing many patients to die, at the hands of those who are suppose to be the most caring people on earth, their physicians. At the bottom of this blog, I will be including a youtube video about drug seeking behavior. On that video is a scene where the patient spouts off a list of things they are allergic to, and this is included, in what is to be considered "drug seeking behavior".

I'm angry, because medical professionals dont' listen to or take their patients seriously when they go to them for help, dismissing the patients concerns, allergies, and medical history, many times resulting in injury or death.

I have no doubt, that had I not taken my medical needs into my own hands, I would have simply gotten sicker and sicker until I died. Even though I work, I don't have health insurance through my employer and can't afford it otherwise. I feel that my lack of health insurance, and my firm belief that I have the right to control what does or does not go into my body, has contributed to the lack of proper care I have received from the medical establishment. When I had great insurance, I never had this problem, so I believe it is related to some doctor's attitudes toward uninsured patients, even when they are paying out of pocket.

If you are a person with a brain, that is proactive in your health needs, you are frowned on by the medical establishment. They need robots, not intellingent, thinking human beings, that pay attention to their bodies, and know what they can and can't put into them.

Part 2: Needing a Good Nights Sleep, and Being Concerned About What Medicine I take, Gets Me Labeled with, "Drug Seeking Behavior".

I usually manage my sleep problems with over the counter medication, but on occasion, I need something stronger. In addition to stopping HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) which helps with sleep, my new job is from 8pm to 4am, in addition to that I have hypothyroid, which can also contribute to a lack of sleep, so a hormonal imbalance problem, coupled with trying to get use to a new shift, and sleep in the daytime, have made a manageable sleep problem unbearable. (I know HRT will probably help me sleep, but it makes me feel deathly ill when I take it, and causes me to break out in a rash.)

My new job as a Black-Jack dealer requires a lot of concentration, and since I can't sleep soundly, my concentration is out the window. Add to that a Thyroid problem and ADHD, and you begin to get a picture of what I am talking about. My life is spent dealing, counting, and paying out, sometimes large sums of money, and I need a good night sleep to do an appropriate job.

Several years ago, a doctor prescribed me Lunesta. which I may have taken for 30 day periods once or twice in my life, but I didn't like the bitter taste it left in my mouth. However, I knew it worked, I didn't have any side effects from it, and since I have multi-drug sensitivities, and allergies, that is important to me.

A friend told me about a good doctor with a great bedside manner, and I went to see him, only to discover he is an urgent care physician, and does not take patients on a regular basis, so he made me an appointment with a new doctor, Doctor Kumar, in Philadelphia, MS. I was told to take all of my medications with me, which I did, and when they ask what I was there for, I told them my thyroid and sleep. Since I don't have health insurance, even though I work close to full time, I shelled out the $135.00 for my doctor visit.

Doctor Kumar was exceptionally nice, and had a great bedside manner, however, he informed me that he does not prescribe any sleep medications or controlled substances, as he is afraid to, because the DEA makes examples out of doctors, and hauls them off in handcuffs, and informed me I just needed to get more exercise. He also informed me that Lunesta and other sleep drugs were in the Benzodiazepine family.

Exercise is great advice, but you first have to have the energy to do it, and that does not mean it works for everyone. I was walking everyday before my thyroid was destroyed, but it still did not make me go to sleep at night.

This was really upsetting to me since I have to pay out of pocket for everything, and here was the second doctor visit wasted on someone who could not help me. Like most Americans, I need my job, I want to work, and shy away from any kind of government assistance. I want to do my job to the best of my ability, and I can't do that, on a few hours of sleep each night.

Exhausted when I left his office, from a lack of sleep, and from coming off the HRT, I broke down and cried, "why is is so hard for me to get help with this simple thing".

After leaving his office, I went over to Dr. Sariono's office, but it was so packed, there was not way I would be able to get in that day, so I drove back home, looked up Lunesta, and discovered it is not in the benzodiazepine family, so I figured it was not a controlled substance, as it only has a slight chance a person can become addicted to it.

I left home and headed to Union, and went into see CNP Glenda Barrett. However, when I ask if she could prescribe sleep medicine, I was told, I would have to see the doctor first to determine why I could not sleep, and an appointment with him would be weeks away,and I needed help now.

Because I ask If CNP Glenda Barrett could she prescribe sleep medicine, I was probably labeled by their office with "Drug Seeking Behavior, but before I wasted another dime on a doctor or a CNP, I wanted to know if they had the ability to write a prescription. No one would fork over money to any business without first knowing if they had the full ability to do the job you were hiring them to do. If a carpenter only knew how to build cabinets, you would not pay him a consultation fee for advice on building a house.

Once again I was running into the fear that doctors in this area feel for just doing their jobs, and I'm pretty confident that was what the problem with Glenda was. In fact, I think she may have been the one who prescribed me Lunesta all those years ago so why was it now necessary for me to see the doctor first?

Finally, after leaving her office, I became extremely upset, and angry, so I called and talked with a friend and tearfully told them my problem, and ask if they could recommend a doctor to me. I had already been several days without a good nights sleep, and it was now around dinner time or later (which for me is the middle of the night). He told me he uses Dr. Mutziger in Decatur, and that he was a good doctor.

I went to Dr. Mutziger's office, but again was told I would have to make an appointment or see a CNP. I ask, "can the CNP prescribe sleep medicine?", they told me, "She can prescribe anything she wants to." Finally, I thought, I will get some relief and get a good nights sleep so I shelled out the $95.00 dollars they required for the visit. (So far, including leaving work early because of a lack of sleep because I had an 8:00 doctors appointment that morning, I had shelled out $446 for nothing.

As I waited in CNP Brandi Keith's office in front of a computer a nurse ask me the usual questions about illness in my family, then she ask me unusual questions like, "Do you wear a seat belt?". I said what does that have to do with anything, and she said it is a behavior analysis. Then she proceeded to ask me if I had a smoke detector in my house, and if I worked in a smoky environment or around chemicals. When I glanced up at the computer I saw a State Farm emblem on the computer screen. Unbelievable, their doctors office was collecting information on patients and sending it to automobile insurance companies.

In walks, CNP Brandi Keith, and I explain to her that I would like to have my T3 and T4 levels checked on my thyroid, and to her credit, she agreed, and gave me a sample of the thyroid medication, Synthroid, to last me until my results came back.

Then we got on the subject of sleep. I told her I had taken Lunesta before and it worked well for me. She informed me that Lunesta is a controlled substance, and that she thought I should try melatonin. I told her melatonin gives me severe mood swings, and I can't take it, she said, maybe you need to try it again.

Well, If I had a problem with it once, why would I want to try it again, and if I could find something over the counter that worked, why would I waste my time and money in a doctor's office. I probably have 6 different over the counter sleep meds at my house: Benadry and Unisom are the main ones that worked in the past (most sleep meds have the same ingredient as benadryl). In addition when I looked at the ingredients on one that did not work, "Sleep Fast" it had melatonin in it.

Then she told me she would give me Rozeram. I was given a sample of Rozeram once, and many of you remember when I posted the side effects on facebook and we all had a good laugh. Side effects like, Hallucinations, "seeing things that are not there", increased insomnia, suicidal thoughts, driving and making phone calls that you have no recollection of, dizziness and tiredness ect... I told her because of what happened to me when I took Tramadol, I was afraid to try something new, and I didn't like the side effects of Rozeram. (After going back and looking at Rozerm and Melatonin, I have discovered the reason why I am not suppose to take it, and again, had she taken my medical history she would have understood).

She said, "Well did you look up the side effects of Lunesta?" I said "probably", but the truth is, I don't remember. All I know is I took Lunesta years before, it put me out like a light, I stayed asleep,and didn't have any side effects other than a bitter taste in my mouth."

She said, so you are saying if I dont' give you Lunesta you wont' take anything? Before I could answer her question she said, "You have drug seeking behavior, and this visit is over". I never said I would not take anything, I just did not want to take Rozeram and Melatonin (which has not worked for me, and because of other problems could have caused me serious reactions). She never gave me any other choice or bothered to ask me if I had tried any other kind of sleep medication..

So because I need sleep medicine, and I am afraid of taking any new drug that I don't know how it will affect me, I am labeled with "Drug Seeking Behavior"

After what happened with Tramadol, and other prescription drugs, I have a right to be scared, I have a right to refuse medication I am allergic to, I have a right to be listened to, I have a right to be believed when I say I'm allergic to something, and have my concerns validated, but I did not get that at one doctors office I visited. I would imagine if they had been through what I have been through over the last couple of years, they would be afraid of taking new medications too.

Today I found out what it is like for many patients who are in chronic pain., and are labeled by their doctors as drug addicts, simply because they hurt and need help. Obviously the same thing applies to people with sleep disorders. Doctors and CNP's are so afraid of the DEA that they can't even treat a patient with a legitimate complaint, even a lack of sleep, and I think it is high time the American people stand up and say, no more.

Not only is a lack of sleep affecting my job, it also poses a danger ,driving back and forth to work, to myself and others. Research says a sleepy driver is more dangerous than a drunk driver. However, on days I can't ride with someone else, that is exactly what is going to happen. You can thank the DEA and local doctors and CNP's who no longer care about their patients well being for that.

How dare a doctor, nurse practitioner, or anyone, deprive me of my right to treatment, and try and force me to take something I don't feel comfortable with. It is my body, my life, and I should not be put into a position where I have to choose my health over having a good nights sleep, and I darn sure should not be accused of drug seeking behavior because I'm careful about what I take.

If you like All laundry detergent, you find it works, does a good job on your clothes and doesn't make you itch, you are likely to stick with it. The same goes for medications, and obviously some of the medications that are controlled substances have fewer side effects than some of the other non-narcotic pain medications. In fact, some of these medications are dangerous and given to old people, making them fall and limiting their quality of life, and ability to function.

The medical profession had left the road of sanity, and fails to give their patients the respect they deserve. They don't take the time to talk to a patient and take their history into consideration, or give them credit when they tell them they are allergic or intollerant to certain medications. They disregard their patients complaints, the way their patients feel, and have left the foundation of medicine, where the doctor was a doctor because he loved people and wanted to help them, to caring about nothing but the almighty dollar.

Not one doctor or nurse practitioner cared about me and my job, cared that I have to drive to work and risk going to sleep driving, and may as well have called me a liar when I told them what I was allergic to.

Ibuprofin hurts my stomach, Aleve gives me me ulcers, Aspirin gave me an asthma attack, One Tramadol almost killed me, sulfa drugs made me break out in a Lupus like rash, and made the white of my eye swell, and I was told if I ever take penicillin again, it may kill me, in addition to that, I have acid reflux, which makes some of those drugs hurt me even worse, but as you will see in the following video, people with multi-drug sensitivities are labeled with "Drug seeking Behavior" because they can't take drugs in the NSAID family.

I also guess I was "Doctor Shopping", since I went to four different offices, trying to find someone that would help me get a good nights sleep. The daytime is when most doctors are open, but it is the middle of the night for me. I had hoped I would only have to stay up one sleep period to find a doctor. The last three doctors I liked, moved from this area, and CNP's are obviously not as well qualified as doctors, and unable in many instances to meet the needs of their patients.

The CNP, Brandi Keith, never bothered to check my medical history, never ask to see my records, never ask why, or cared why, I was having trouble sleeping. Did not care that a drug I had never taken before had almost killed me a little over a year ago. None of those things were important to her.

What was important to her was that she was the one in charge, and I was only the patient, and what I thought and felt were irrelevant, dismissed with the wave of a hand and the slam of a folder and the words, "You have drug seeking behavior".

She may have gotten a good education, she may be book smart, but when it comes to asking the right questions, respect for her patients concerns, and bedside manner she gets an F. If the sleeping pill, Lunesta, is so bad, why would you ever give it to anyone, or refill a prescription? Yet, they regurally refill Lunesta for some of their patients ( I know this for a fact, and I would think getting a refill would be considered "Drug Seeking Behavior" too).. Lunesta was prescribed to me by a doctor, I never ask for it, I never used it on a regular basis, only when I encounters sleep problems this severe. ( Besides that it is regularly advertised on commercials so people WILL ask their doctor for it. If it is so bad they need to remove those ads.)

A part of me really wants her and other doctors to have to suffered like I have, to have walked in my shoes, felt my pains, lived in my body, and then have some little arrogant whippersnapper who is still wet behind the ears, and barely out of training pants, insult your integrity, pretty much call you a liar, and label you with "Drug Seeking Behavior" because you need something to help you sleep.

She has great potential as far as intelligence, but if she doesn't change, and learn to listen to her patients and acknowledge and respect their concerns about the body God gave to them, not her, she will never be an exceptionally good CNP or doctor. However, she is still young and in a learning phase so I hope she matures a little bit in her bedside manner.

As for me, if I can't get some relief, maybe I should just join the ranks of the disabled, live off the taxpayer, and have free health insurance. ( I'm only being facetious, because, like my mother, I love to work, and will continue to do so as long as I am able), and I still hope to get the help I need so I can perform my job to the best of my ability..

I'm totally convinced circumstances like mine are why many people that end up on disability. They also end up in emergency rooms because they can't get help from their doctors which ends up costing more money. However, the fact that I can't afford insurance does not stop the government from holding taxes out of my check to pay health insurance for government workers. Where is the fairness in that?

Part 3: How Profiling is Hurting Patients With Legitimate Medical Needs.

1. Notice that if a person is allergic to NSAID's they are labeled with "Drug Seeking Behavior"

2. Notice if you don't have a regular doctor, you are labeled with "Drub Seeking Behavior". I go to which ever doctor is most convenient for me. With ADHD I hate waiting in line, and I forget when I make appointments. The best physician I've ever had, Thomas Welsh, moved from this area. He was truly the best for me. He listened to me, and always treated me with respect and kindness.. He is greatly missed by me and many others. While I am doctor shopping, I hope I can find someone that is half the doctor he was.

3. The thing that stands out the most to me in this video is that, even if the person (which it is obvious they are addicted) is an addict, it is the cold, callous, and dismissive way the doctor treated her. A real doctor should have sat down and talked with her about her addiction problem and tried to get her some help, but you dont' see that happen in this video because the caring that once permeated the medical profession has long left the building and been replaced with those that are in it for money and power.

(I also find it hilarious that the person does not remember which doctor prescribed them all those medications, because if I was taking all that, I probably could not remember who gave it to me either.)

4. Doctors should take the time to listen to their patients whether they are a drug seeker or not, because they may actually be in need of serious medical help, and simply dismissing them could cost the patient their life.

5. Patients like me, who are not abusers, and need occasional help, are treated with cold, callous, disregard for our lives, our bodies and our health, but the ones that really are drug abusers can get anything they want, and many of them end up selling it on the street. I didn't go in and ask for a host of drugs like the girl in the video, I ask for a sleeping pill, and I wanted one I was familiar with. Is it a crime to want a good nights sleep, and a drug you feel won't kill you?

Maybe we should ask the guy I read about in the Newton County Appeal recently that was arrested for possession of Seroquel. Newton County Sheriff, Jackie Knight, was quoted as saying, "It is sad, he said he just wanted a good nights sleep."

Gee, we better start locking up all these people that have trouble sleeping, they are a real danger to society.

As a patient, you have a right to see your medical records, and if a doctor falsely accuses you of being a drug seeker, especially in front of another person, you can sue them for slander. A lot of people have written to me about the problems they are having, including elderly people, and I'm letting everyone know you do not have to accept their false characterization of you. They have basically accused you of a crime, and in so doing, have committed a crime themselves.

UPDATE: My lack of sleep was because my thyroid hormones were low, and in addition I had a supplement I was taking that contributed to a lack of sleep.

I finally found a CNP that I am very pleased with; CNP Kelli Smith, in Philadelphia, MS. She actually took the time to find out about my medical history, and listen to my concerns. In addition to that I put up black-out blinds (so I can sleep in the daylight hours) and that has also been a tremendous help.

Occasionally I will have neck pain, but as long as I can take Unisom, and sleep, I can live with it.
