I snagged these pumpkin buckets for $0.60 a few weeks ago on a Target sale so I felt like I could splurge on some other treats with the money I saved. We threw in some spice cake and chocolate chips for folks to make some yummy fall treats. There’s also some spooky bubbles, ghostly gummies, and a few little extras for the families we’re delivering to that have littles. Honestly, anything is game.

You can snag the download for the printable here. There are tons of different BOO-ing poems out there, and I had scoured the web and read practically all of them. Research, amiright? But I was BOOed with a printable by Caravan Shoppe a few years ago and always saved it because I thought it was darling. I don’t know if they’re the poets behind it? But I’m giving them credit because it’s so dang good. They’re my absolute favorite for all of the holiday printables (remember this amazing neighbor gift pack for Christmas???) and the instructions are right in the poem!

Anywho! I just decided to pair my ghosts & moons with this poem and put it all on one sheet for folks to copy/cut/gift on their own.

The poem instructs the gift recipient to make a copy and share with two other families. They’ll cut the “we’ve been booed” sign and put it in their window so that they don’t get “re-BOOed”. Fairly simple. Totally fun.

And that’s that! I swear, October is just my all-time favorite month. And I’ve still got a few other ideas to share with you before the big 31st so be sure to check back! I was just going to use the skull that I designed for Vita’s birthday invite last year, but decided to quickly peruse the image library in Cricut Design Space and found a whole collection of skulls that I want to use for a million things now. But I landed on the skull design above because it was an easy cut and a large enough shape to use as a placemat. They’re sized to about 13″ wide. I hit “Make It” and loaded my vinyl onto a strong grip mat to secure the fabric in place.

My Maker 3 cut them super fast, but you could cut these with any of the Cricut Explore/Air/Maker machines. I used the fine point blade and just did 3 cut passes total to make sure I was able to easily peel them away from the mat without any fabric snags.

Cute, no? After they’re cut, simply peel them off the mat. If there is anything still attached that shouldn’t be, you could use scissors to finish the cut. There is some slight fraying to the edges in some places and I feel like it only adds to the spooky factor. I’m obsessed.

Place the skull placemats on your table and top with the rest of your place setting. And then just have a fancy dinner every night for the rest of October. As one should.

These were crazy simple to make and I feel like I want to have a big ol’ dinner party now. Who’s coming over!?

My heart will always love these sleek machines. The new Maker 3 comes in this icy grey color and could totally sit out on display in your office or workspace year round. I’m going to work on getting a workspace, but for now, this baby set up shop on my kitchen counter.

Back when I shared about Cricut Joy, I gushed all about Cricut’s new Smart Materials. They’re matless and come in a TON of different options. Because the Maker 3 can cut extra long material, I snagged a roll of white permanent vinyl that was 12′ long and got ready to design some crazy long stickers for the underside of the board and our family’s hashtag along the side. Don’t laugh. We have a hashtag for our travels named after our family blog when Logan and I were first married. (Lookin’ at you, blogspot.)

Our family hashtag is #WardsAreWinners. We’re a proud family, LOL. So I planned to put this along the side of the board and you’ll notice the cut length is over 40″ long on that phrase! Before, I could only cut 12″x24″ so this was super exciting. I uploaded a few of my fave hand drawn images in Cricut Design Space and enlarged them so a variety could cover the underside of the board. Then it was time to cut!

I will forever and ever love the matless options because it’s so nice to just open them and go. No worrying about loading products onto a mat, or cleaning the mat, or trying to renew the stickiness of the mat. It can’t get much easier than this now, can it?

Once loaded, the machine will measure the entire length of the material you are using and make sure you have enough for your design before you cut. A genius tool for folks like me who want to cut and run. I was taking a small video of the Maker 3 when I was doing a test cut and planned to share it on IG, but sped up to save time. And then this machine cut so fast that I knew I wouldn’t even have to speed up the video. Totally wasn’t prepared for that! Such a nice new touch.

After I cut everything, I added some transfer tape over my words so that they would lay perfectly straight on the paddle board. I never used to use this stuff and it has become invaluable when applying phrases to things! Just a lil’ PSA if you’re on the fence about it.

I didn’t mean to pull this off, but the letter magically fit perfectly into the red stripe on the side of the board. Glad that worked out!

Now you can’t really tell in the image above, but feel free to look closely. I have a bajillion shapes all down the material ready to peel and apply to the board.

And BOOM! Mara and I had a good time placing these wherever we saw fit.

We threw the paddle board in the pool to give the stickers a test run and make sure they’d stay put. It’s been a few weeks and I’m happy to say they’re still there! Also, look at that fam hashtag! Too cool for school.

I won’t tell you how I got these cool cool underwater photos, but I’m pretty impressed at my skills. Just saying. These look so fun underwater!

This project has totally got me pumped for a few more big-scale projects. I’m thinking some fun wallpaper/decals for the girls’ bedroom next. Maybe then I’ll wrap my car. The sky’s the limit!

The biggest issue with this space was that it’s a laundry room, a pantry, and a mud room all in one. The space is only about 10′ x 6′ so we needed to maximize every inch as best as possible. SO we removed the claustrophobic cabinetry , the hardly-used sink, and the bifold doors to really open things up. I had plans to build and everything myself (hello, DIY), but was really stressed about the amount of work I had going on ASIDE from the laundry builds. Wise, old Logan suggested that I try to off-load one of the many projects and I found a carpenter who could come in and help me with the built-ins. I shared with him my plans and some inspo pics and asked that he not finish and seal anything so that I could sand, stain, and seal on my own once I finished the rest. We installed the built-ins and it’s been amazing having a space for shoes, bags, and jackets! We used to just drop stuff wherever in here (hanging jackets over the side of the sink. nice.) so it feels like a nice change to have things all in one organized spot. The shoes go in baskets. And there are extras for more shoes or school papers. Extra household items are stored above and then I installed these black hooks to hang coats and bags. I’m thinking I might install some more hooks on the sides and lower down. What do you think?

I think my absolute favorite feature in the new room is the caned sliding barn doors over the pantry! They don’t block the entrance/walkway from the garage door to the rest of the house and they look so good in here! I had planned to do one large barn door to cover the pantry opening, but the wall to the left wasn’t wide enough to slide the door and fully expose the pantry. My carpenter suggested using bypass barn door hardware that allows the doors to slide in front of/behind each other and helped put that together for me. I sanded and sealed them to match the plans for the rest of the room. I wanted a lot of natural wood in this space, so I used Radiata Pine and a clear water-based poly to seal everything. I wanted modern doors to match the rest of the room and decided to use caning behind each of the windows. The caning was actually really simple to install. I just let it soak in the bathtub for about 30 minutes and then trimmed everything down to size and stapled them to the backs of the windows on the doors. They slide like butter and I have a smile on my face every time I need to get something out of the pantry. Might be a little bit of food-related happiness too, but I can’t be sure.

I used more Radiata Pine to build the counter over the new washer and dryer to give things a more customized-look. The counter is installed with some brackets in studs along the back and side of the appliances. It can easily slide out to allow me to reach the water pipes in the back for repairs/maintenance if needed. It’s awesome to have a spot to fold towels or just throw stuff on. Let’s be real. I usually fold laundry on the couch or on my bed, but I do try to fold towels in here because I’m by the linen closet and kitchen drawers.

I ripped out the old boob light and replaced it with this pretty flush mount. Such an easy update that makes such a difference! The vent was looking a little sad too, so I removed it and gave it a fresh coat of white spray paint and screwed it back on. The ceiling looks top drawer now! I also sprayed our door closer a nice matte black to match the black metals throughout. Stuff like that is easy to refinish and takes a matter of minutes.

The last thing to do was build the floating shelves. I went back and forth on the layout (you can see the thought process on my laundry room highlight in my IG stories), and ultimately decided just some simple ones would be best. But I also kept putting it off because I wanted them to look profesh and I had never built anything like that and was nervous. Luckily, a friend of mine had given me some wood veneer edge banding that she had left over after a project at her house and it got me thinking about using it somehow in here. My shelves were two inches tall so the edging she gave was too small, but I found the right size here and it matched my wood EXACTLY! It attaches with heat so you can iron on or use a heat gun. Easy peasy. I looked at 1,000,001 tutorials on the web and this one was the inspo for my shelves and is the most similar to the method I used. I didn’t want anything thicker than 2 inches tall so I had to get creative when it came to making them sturdy enough to support baskets and cleaning supplies. I’ve got a post coming with a step-by-step for the shelves so stay tuned for that. I actually have how-to posts for a few of the things I built in here, but will share another day. Today is just about this pretty pretty reveal. Do I sound braggy? Oh well. I freaking love this room now.

The best part about finishing a room project is the styling at the end. I love LOVE this part. I was looking for a nice, long rug for the space and knew we’d need a runner. I’d only ever used rugs that were about 4′ long and they slid all over the place. I had been perusing through all of the modern rugs at AllModern for a bit and initially wanted this one. I loved the style and felt like it matched the aesthetic for this room. Unfortunately, it was out of stock and the date kept getting pushed back, so I went with this one instead.

Gotta get a dark one to hide dirt and stuff in an entryway and this one is great!

I also picked up some wall art and gravitated toward this print, obviously. It’s right in front when you first walk in from the garage and I love it. I’m thinking I might put a mirror in here, but don’t want to crowd things yet. I’ll live in the space for a bit and feel it out.

I shopped around my house for a few things to bring in like vases and baskets. I’ve hidden all of our cleaning supplies on the top shelf in these bins. And the laundry supplies like detergent are hidden in this storage canister. Our keys and pocket items can be dropped here. I had originally stored the laundry detergent pods in a glass jar, but didn’t like seeing the blues and greens from the actual pods. So I hid everything. Used one of my fave wire baskets from Open Spaces to catch our mail and loose papers!

The window edging has gotten quite a bit of paint on it over the years (even before we bought the house). I’m planning to just hand paint it all black again, but that’s going to have to wait! The girls are in school now so I think I can tackle it pretty soon.

I just feel so happy to have this space complete! When our washer & dryer bit the dust, I was stressed about having to do things over and fork out the money for new appliances, but I had always wanted front loading appliances so that I could build a waterfall counter over the top. This pushed me to finally make this space match the rest of our house. We’re slowly getting there and are one step closer. I’ll happily keep the door open now because I’m so proud of all of the blood and sweat (no tears!) that went into designing and building this space from scratch! Fingers crossed I don’t make a mess.

So a few weeks ago, I was introduced to Skinny Pop’s Dusted Dark Chocolate Popcorn by my friend Melanie and it has been ALL I can think about! We love popcorn in our house and love creating different flavors (hello, coconut cinnamon & pop rocks!) and have it AT LEAST once a week! We have movie nights a lot over here, okay? So I decided that we just had to have our own dusted chocolate popcorn and it turned out ridiculously tasty. Here’s how you can make your own!

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 cup popcorn kernels
• 3/4 cup coconut oil
• 3-4 tablespoons Ghirardelli Sweet Ground Cocoa
• 2 teaspoons fine caster sugar

In a large stockpot, melt the coconut oil over medium high heat. Once melted, add the kernels . You want enough kernels to cover the bottom of the stockpot, and then enough coconut oil to cover the kernels. Place a lid over the stockpot and set a timer for 6 minutes from the time you hear the first kernel pop. Shake the pot occasionally to be sure the coconut oil and kernels are evenly dispersed. Once the popping slows down, remove the stockpot from the heat and pour the popcorn into a large bowl.

Sprinkle the cocoa over the popcorn and stir. Be as generous with the cocoa as you like! We love the chocolate over here, so I used it all!

Sprinkle the sugar immediately after sprinkling the chocolate. You want to use caster sugar so your popcorn doesn’t taste “grainy”. Granulated sugar can work in a pinch, but you won’t get that “dusted” feeling that we’re going for. 

Stir it all together! 

Divvy it up into some bowls and try not to share. You won’t have a problem because it is quite impossible to share this stuff! Chocolate for the win!

So back in May, our dryer finally gave out in our laundry room. Both of our appliances had been plugging along and were actually over 20 years old SO IT WAS TIME, but still! Paying for new laundry appliances wasn’t really on my list of to-do projects this year, but I had been wanting to tackle a laundry room makeover eventually. If you go back to this quick weekend update post from way back when we first bought the house, you’ll notice I had done a simple update with some paint and stick on tile. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a little better than what we had when we moved in. Because we were getting new appliances, I knew that this would be the time to just tackle the makeover and finally get the room looking like I wanted it to and to match the aesthetic of the rest of our house. So here we go! Read on to see what we were starting with and my plans for the final look!

I’m going to apologize for the phone photography now.  When we were in the thick of the machine breakdown, I quickly snapped some photos to share what the room looked like and talked about my plans for it here in my IG stories laundry highlight. Keep checking in over there for updates in real time!

It’s a very small room. About 10’x6′. Our ceilings aren’t high either and the ginormous upper cabinets really made this room feel cramped. The most frustrating thing happened to be that the corner cabinets that were actually hung over the machines were so large that they blocked the door partly and prevented it from opening all the way. When you’re walking through this small of a space, you need every door to open completely!!!

Woof. This room had seen better days. Lots of clutter. We didn’t have a closet for brooms. Our shoes would sometimes just get thrown in a basket (and miss!) in the corner. This was basically the place where things went to die. Occasionally, things would get washed. I posted pics of the appliances on FB marketplace and listed  them for free (along the issues with them), and someone came and grabbed them and took them off our hands. It was time get started!

I know that people always say they love having a sink in the laundry room. I was really excited about having one when we first moved in, but after living in this house for 4 years, I was totally ready to part with it. It was rarely used and was just taking up valuable space in our tiny room. So we decided to pull it out and cap off the pipes in the wall and then patch over it. And I’m really happy with how much floor space was open to use after that decision!

In the above photo, you can see the progress after removing the sink, cabinets, and peeling away the tile. I sanded all of the rough spots and gave everything a fresh coat of Benjamin Moore Simply White (what the rest of our place is painted in). The long diagonal pipe that is behind the appliances is for greywater. There’s a traditional drain included in the hookup box, but we can also put the washer drain down this pipe and funnel out the wastewater to use to water our property.

I created a little mood board to help me visualize how I wanted the space to look. Take a peek below:

We have to maximize every square inch of this space, but also make it something that I enjoy looking at. Going for some built-ins on the one side with some lockers/shelves/hooks for bags and backpacks. There will be some cubbies for shoes, and a bench to sit on. I love me a good waterfall counter and felt like keeping everything in a natural wood tone would match the rest of our house. I love open shelving, but need some nice baskets/bins to organize all of the supplies and products that live here in this room. And then I’ll sprinkle in some nice ceramics for plants and ma’ greens.

This is the other side of the room. This room triples as our laundry room, mudroom, and pantry. The bi-fold doors also bothered me because they stuck out in front of our garage door and just weren’t my fave. So I ripped those out and sold them on FB marketplace. One man’s bi-fold doors is another man’s treasure. It worked out! I planned to create a modern barn door to slide right over this entrance. It wouldn’t block the walking path in the room and would just look a million times better.

The above photo has been one of my favorite inspo photos for small laundry rooms since 2016. Vintage Revivals always melts me with her simple DIYs and I knew that a waterfall counter was going to be my top-choice for our small lil’ room. I had to tweak some things differently from her method, but I’m supes pleased with my current counter:

Took me a bit to figure out how to work around our utility box for the water hookups. I had originally planned to just lower the box, but our pipes actually come down from the ceiling instead of up from the ground. So I cut a small pocket in the back corner where the cords can come up through if necessary. The counter is mounted to brackets in studs on the sides of and behind the washer and dryer. It can be removed easily if we need to get behind the machines. That was our only option because this space is so small, but it works. I’ll be sharing a post about how exactly we did ours like this soon. Stay tuned! (Story of my life. wink wink.)

I found a local carpenter to help build the built-ins and he was great. I am a super control-freak and had pics and plans and knew what I wanted and he totally brought my vision to life. I was so stressed about getting this space done on a tight timeline before family came to visit and I knew that Logan didn’t have the time to build this either. He suggested I take something off my plate and hire out what I can. He’s so wise.
The room isn’t finished, but here’s how things are currently looking. I’m going to be building the floating shelves this week and then will pull in some pretty wall art or maybe a nice mirror and a nice long rug for the space (loving this one and this one from AllModern!), and of course, lots of plants! I need that green, y’all.

I like to upload my own hand-drawn shapes a lot of the time, but Cricut’s image library in Design Space has a lot of abstract shapes to choose from. This circle was fun paired with my random blob. I sized them up large enough to cut on a mat (one side needs to be NO LARGER than 11.5 wide” to cut with Cricut) and mounted my cork roll to the mat. You can tape down the sides with masking tape or just use some double-sided tape underneath the material to really secure it.

Before cutting out my large shapes with my Cricut Maker, I did a small test run on the cork to make sure I had the right blade and cut pressure. Cork isn’t exactly cheap so you want to make sure you can get this done the right way. It’s super simple! The cork roll I was using is about 2.2mm thick and worked fine with the rotary blade. It also helps if you use adhesive-backed cork for extra stability and to prevent cracks or breaks in the cork. When mounting your material, run over it with a brayer to make sure it really adheres and every inch is stuck to the mat surface.

Cuts like butter!

Gently peel the cork away from the mat. The first piece I cut was NOT adhesive-backed and cracked in a few places. So I’d totally recommend the adhesive-backed material when doing something like this.

I had honestly just thrown some stuff on this dresser to see what would work together. We also have one million and one baskets for toys. It’s a lot.

But gosh! It’s cute with the cork board wall decor mounted. If using adhesive-backed cork, you can just peel and stick. If you’re not using adhesive-backed, just stick with some mounting material like command strips or putty.

They’re just the right size for displaying small prints and little art projects. I can’t wait to change things out regularly!

I’ll probably play around with the placement of things, but it feels good to have one section of the kids playroom done. I’ve currently thrown all of the toys into this room and am trying my best to sort and organize. You can keep up with that ordeal on IG stories! 

This DIY is crazy easy and I love how the cork board wall decor looks in here with some neutral pieces. Perfect for a playroom, I’d say! V is taking orders for more LOL Dolls Books. LOLOLOL. Now, here’s hoping I can get the rest of the room put together asap!

I have these grid-patterned glasses from a few years back and knew they’d be perfect for adding some neon 80’s decals. I also snagged some crazy straws and some solid-colored glasses and a clear pitcher. It looks a little boring right now, but just wait for it. I have some wooden drink stirrers that were perfect to pair with some smaller pink glasses.

DIY 80’s Drink Decor

You’ll need:

• cardstock in bright colors (throw in some glitter for good measure)
• Cricut holographic kraft board
• Cricut removable vinyl
• cups & pitcher – paper, plastic, or glass!
• crazy straws
• wooden drink stir sticks
• Cricut Maker & mat
• Cricut Design Space
• Project pattern

Start by opening the project in Design Space. Customize, if needed. Then hit “make it” and cut the shapes from different types of cardstock and vinyl.

I added a bunch of different shapes in various sizes. I’ve colored each in a different neon shade. This is just a suggestion as you can change out the colors yourself and also adjust the sizes based on your needs.

The vinyl can be peeled off the mat easily and then just add different colors and shapes and be sure to layer for that ultra 80’s vibe. You’ll end up with something like:

Rad, right? Can I just bring back all of the phrases from the 80’s for this post? I especially love the shapes on those grid glasses. So much fun!

Use a scraper to remove the papers easily from your mat. Then play around with stacking and layering until you come up with mini versions that you like. Using a glue stick or hot glue gun, layer all of the shapes together and then attach to your straws and drink stirrers with a small dollop of hot glue.

Easy peasy! You can make them all the same or make each one different, but they’re so addicting to whip out!

Now pour some lemonade and break out the Pop Tarts. This is the kind of occasion that calls for them! And if you’re wondering if V was ultra-impressed with our 80’s lemonade sesh, it blew her mind. I’m off to shop for some sweatbands for all of us now!

Mmm. Look at those peaches. Don’t just all sorts of dirty jokes come to mind? No? Just me? Just me and my dirty peach jokes? Sorry.

First, we need to coat the peaches before grilling.

 Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup melted butter
• 1 cup brown sugar

After slicing and pitting the peaches, use a pastry brush to coat every side of the peaches in the brown sugar mixture.

Place them on the grill and cook on high heat for 7  minutes on each side. Let them get those awesome grill lines that just demand respect.

See?? I respect the peach. Can’t fight it —— #respectthepeach

Remove the peaches from the grill and rub more of the brown sugar mixture all over them. Place them on top of the cream-covered crepes (recipe below!)

Make the crepes

• 4 eggs
• 1 cup milk
• 1 cup flour
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 2 tbsp butter
• Costco-sized jar of Nutella

Melt the butter in a small skillet. In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, salt, vanilla, and butter. Slowly whisk in the flour (whisk the flour before adding to the milk mixture or sift it into the milk mixture to avoid lumps in the mix). Read all about the art of crepe-making in our post about rainbow crepes!

Once you’ve cooked your desired number of crepes, set them aside to cool.

Make the maple cream

• 8oz cream cheese
• 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt
• 3 tbsp pure maple syrup (or any other syrup or honey you love!)
• 3/4 cup confectioner’s sugar

In a bowl with a mixer, combine the cream cheese and yogurt and beat until creamy. Add the maple syrup and beat again. Slowly add the confectioner’s sugar. You may need more or less depending on your desired consistency.

It’s time to assemble the masterpiece! Spread a dollop of the cream on each crepe. Place a few of the grilled peaches (hot off the grill!) on each crepe. Drizzle with maple syrup or honey and then sprinkle with pecans. The pecans are totally optional, but they really do improve one’s quality of life. Unless you have a nut allergy, and then, well, no quality. None. If that’s you, skip the pecans! They’re still tasty!

I gotta say, it’s tough to be diabetic and have to shoot these. Luckily, our neighbors were more than willing to devour them for me! One and done. That’s supposed to be my motto? Sugar.

Roll ’em up and swallow ’em whole. Actually, I think it’s best to savor these for the fest seconds you can. After rolling, drizzle with maple or honey and sprinkle with nuts!

My favorite tip for making a multitude of sewing projects is cutting them with a cutting machine. Whenever I cut a pattern by hand, it’s never even and my edges are a little wonky and never truly match up. By using my Cricut Maker, I have perfectly precise patterns (who’s here for the alliteration?!) every time. The bonus part is that you can cut a few patterns while you’re currently assembling one of the scrunchies. So you can make a bunch in a very short amount of time! This pattern is made using Cricut software and materials. Check it out below!

DIY Scrunchies

You’ll need:

• for TWO SCRUNCHIES: 1/4″ yard fabric (I used various patterns in cotton and jersey)
• thread
• sewing machine
• 2 safety pins
• regular sewing pins
• scissors or thread snips
• elastic (7″ per scrunchie)
• Cricut Maker & 12×24-inch mat
• Cricut Rotary Blade
• Cricut Design Space

I’ve sized these out in Cricut’s Design Space and they’re bigger than regular scrunchies. I like ’em bigger and thicker with lots of voluminous ruffles.

You’re going to start out by mounting your fabric to your mat and then having it cut from the Cricut. The long fabric strip is almost 24″ long, so you’ll need the longer mat. You can choose to just have the scrunchie on its own, or one with a bow. I like both, but I will tell you that the one with the bow makes it easier to hide the finished seams from turning the scrunchie right side out. Try ’em both out and see which you like better!

After cutting your material, follow these next steps and you’ll be on your way to scrunchie town!

1. Take the long strip and fold it in half. Pin right sides together leaving the 1.5-2″ at each end unpinned. DON’T SEW THOSE ENDS TOGETHER JUST YET.

2. Pin down the rest of the line of the strip and head to the sewing machine!

3. Starting at one end but right under the first pin, stitch the fabric sides together with a 1/4″ seam allowance being sure to backstitch. Continue to move down the strip until you reach the last pin. Remember, your ends should not be sewn together at this point.

4. Turn the strip of fabric right side out. I find it’s easiest to use a safety pin to do this. Attach the pin to one side and use it to feed the fabric down the tube until the pin comes out at the other end. Easy!

5. Take each end and pin together (pay attention to orientation in the photo above).

6. Stitch together. Now those ends will tuck into each other making your finished seam a little easier to hide.

7. Time to add your elastic! Take a safety pin and put it through one end of the elastic AND into the inside edge of the scrunchie that you sewed in step 6.

8. Take a second safety pin and attach it to the other end of the elastic. Stick it inside the scrunchie and feed it in and continue to move it until it is out the other side. This is the fun part as the fabric starts to scrunch up!

9. Sew the ends of the elastic together. This is kind of tricky so don’t worry about it being neat. It’ll be hidden on the inside forever!

10. This isn’t really a step, but I just wanted to show you what a hack-job mine looks like so you feel normal.

11. Time to close! Pin the open section as close to the edge as you can.

12. Stitch closely to the edge just until you’ve closed up that open slot.

13. Fluff up the scrunchie a little bit and you’ll easily hide the seam. And that’s it! BOOM!

If you want to add the tie, easy instructions below!

1. Working with the two tie pieces, pin the right sides together. (This step is optional. If you’re using cotton fabric, it’ll stay together pretty easily on its own.)

2. Starting in the center of the tie on one side, stitch all the way around with a 1/4″” seam allowance leaving a small section open to turn the tie right side out.

3. After you’ve turned the tie right-side-out, pin the middle open section together and stitch shut sewing as close to the edge as you can.

4. Tie it to the scrunchie covering the finished seam and that’s it!! Now it’s totally hidden and you can go on making a zillion of these babies.

I mean, REALLY. Once you start, you can’t stop. DIY scrunchies will keep making comebacks until the end of time. I’m convinced.

Now, if you don’t want to follow all of the steps up above, you can easily create the scrunchies using a hot glue gun. You’ll glue everything the same way that you would sew it! So just follow the steps and you’re all set.

They were made to model scrunchies for their mama. Also, we have about two drawers FULL of scrunchies at this point. LOL!

Now, whenever I share a DIY project, I often share a way to take things one step further. And being the Disney-loving gal I am, I turned the tie into some Mickey Ears and now I feel like I’m all set for the park. If and when it opens. Until then, I’ll just continue wearing something Disney every day. This DIY Mickey Scrunchie can fill the void that we are all feeling. The previous instructions are still the same, the only difference is that the ends of the tie are round and will need to be sewn following the curve. Totally simple.

These instructions seem involved and seem like A LOT, but I promise you, once you make one or two, you’ll see how easy they are and will be able to crank one out in under 15 minutes. No joke! I timed myself because I am competitive and also there are no other humans around here. I miss mankind.
