THE 100 MOST ESSENTIAL WORDS IN ANIME
by David Soler

Note: Since I want this to be readable in programs with no formatting ability, I'm employing a modified romanization system. Instead of putting a diacritical marking above an "o" to indicate a doubled length, I'll write out "ou." I'm assuming that readers will be familiar with the standard romanization system. If not, any pocket Japanese-English dictionary will provide a complete explanation of Japanese romanization.
Disclaimers: This glossary contains my choice of the 100 words which I deem to be most common and/or essential in anime. Obviously, my opinion is different from that of others. Students of Japanese should also be cautioned against using this vocabulary without regard to proper context. To choose an obvious example, don't attempt curses outside of you close circle of friends. My friend Akihiko Watanabe has graciously consented to proofread my work. Of course, any errors which remain are strictly my own.

1. abunai- dangerous.: The term has a broader application in Japanese than a direct translation would suggest, being employed in situations where an English speaker would say "Duck!" or "Look out!" Another common usage is as a euphemism for "deviant," i.e. a "dangerous" relationship (abunai kankei).
2. ai- love.: If a native speaker wanted to specify romantic love, he would use the character pronounced koi (or ren, depending on the context).
3. aite- opponent.: Be careful, the word has many applications that are counter-intuitive. A more literal reading of the characters would be "the one whom I must face." As a result, the word can also refer to one's dancing partner or the person whom you are addressing in a two-person conversation.
4. akuma- Satan, Devil.: As with it's English counterparts, this word can be used figuratively.
5. arigatou- Thanks.: The full formula is arigatou gozaimasu.
6. baka- an all-purpose insult denigrating the subject's intelligence.: Depending on tone of voice and other factors, it can range in severity from "silly" to "retard." Other similar insults are aho and manuke, although manuke is more specifically "dolt, buffoon."
7. bakemono- monster.
8. be-da!- the sound made by Japanese when they perform akanbe,: a gesture of contempt made by sticking out the tongue and bringing down one lower eyelid. The gesture is analogous to a Bronx cheer or "Nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah."
9. bijin- a beautiful woman.: In terms of frequency and usage, it's best likened to "babe." However, it's still acceptable in formal speech registers, so is not inherently disrespectful.
10. chigau- a verb meaning "to deviate, be different.": In standard Japanese, it's used to declare that someone is wrong. When shouted as an explanation, it's meaning is closer to "No way!" or "Don't be ridiculous!/You are SO off-base!"
11. chikara- strength, power.
12. chikusho- an exclamation of frustration,: equivalent to "Damn!" or "Shit!" Comparable exclamations are kuso (literally "shit") and shimatta.
13. chotto- a little.: Differs from its English counterpart in that it can only be used as an adverb. (The adjectival form is chiisai.) When exclaimed, it means "Hold it!" or "Cut it out!"
14. daijoubu- O.K.: Most often encountered in anime when one character inquires as to another's health.
15. damaru- be still, silent.: Most often found in its imperative form, Damare!, meaning "Shut up!/Silence!"
16. damasu- to deceive.: Often encountered in its passive form, damasareru, "to be tricked."
17. dame- bad, no good; no can do.: One very common usage is dame desu/dame da, uttered when refusing permission or indicating that something is a bad idea.
18. dare- who.: Note that certain particles placed after the word will alter its meaning, i.e. dareka-someone, anyone daremo-no one daredemo-everyone.
19. doko- where.
20. fuzakeru- to play games, fool around.: It can also be shaded by tone of voice to assume a harsher meaning, like "bullshitting" or "screw/fuck around."
21. gaki- young, immature person.: Often translated as "brat" or "punk."
22. gambaru- a literal reading of the characters would be "to adhere to something with tenacity.": A very popular term used when encouraging someone is a difficult task. Some English translations are "Hang in there!," "Don't give up!," "Do your best!," and "Give it your all!" Note: the verb phrase shikkari suru has an overlapping meaning, but slightly different connotations. Apparently, the latter term implies use of innate abilities as opposed to a conscious act of willpower. The two are generally interchangeable, though. The command forms of "gambaru" are "gambatte" and "gambare."
23. hayai- quick, fast, early.: The adverbial form hayaku means "Hurry up!" when exclaimed.
24. hen- strange, weird.: In compound noun phrases, it assumes an older meaning of "change, transformation." One such compound that's especially popular in anime is henshin, meaning "physical transformation" a la Sailor Moon and Voltron.
25. hentai-: although a hen compound, it merits a separate entry. Its classical meaning is "metamorphosis, transformation." It later came to mean "abnormality," and in modern colloquial Japanese is used almost exclusively to mean "pervert" or "perversion." When a woman insults a man in anime, she generally uses on of three terms: hentai, sukebe, and etchi. Sukebe implies "oversexed" rather than "deviant." Etchi can be quite mild in some contexts, comparable to "lewd" or "Fresh!" These three terms are often used interchangeably, especially when someone is stringing together insults. Though not as frequent, the word (o-)kama refers specifically to transvestitism and other gender-bending actions associated with homosexuality.
26. hidoi- severe, harsh.: As an exclamation, it means "How terrible!" or "That's harsh/cold!" A spoken variant is "Hide-e!"
27. hime- princess.
28. ii- good.: An older variant, still current, is yoi. Yoku is the abverbial form. Yokatta is the familiar past tense. When used as an exclamation, it can mean "That's great!," but is usually better translated as "I'm so glad!"
29. iku- to go.: Common conjugated forms are ikimashou, ikou, (Shall we go?/Let's go), ike and ikinasai (Go!/Begone!).
30. inochi- life.: There are a couple of words in Japanese which can be translated as "life," but inochi is the proper term in the more dramatic situations common in anime, such as "to stake one's life," "to take a life" and "more important than life."
31. itai- hurt, pain; painful.: A common explanation, it's equivalent to "Ouch!" A frequent spoken variant is Ite-e!
32. jigoku- Hell. Hades.
33. joshikousei- a female high school student.: That's the literal meaning, anyway. In Japan, it invariably refers specifically to a cute high school girl in a sailor uniform. That Japanese has such a compact, productive phrase for this image implies that it's an important archetype in the Japanese psyche.
34. kamawanai- regardless of.: When uttered as an exclamation, it means "I don't care!" Kamawan is a more brusque spoken variant.
35. kami- God, god.: This term can also be applied to any supernatural being with a specific domain/charge/sphere.
36. kanarazu- an adverbial prefix indicating something will happen: surely and/or inevitably. As an exclamation, it means "I swear it!" or "No matter the cost!"
37. kareshi- boyfriend.: Kanojo is the equivalent word for "girlfriend." Koibito can be applied to both sexes, but it implies a more serious relationship.
38. kawaii- cute.: More than a mere adjective, kawaii qualifies as an aesthetic and an obsession in Japan. A less common, secondary meaning is "cherished, beloved." Note: kawai sou means "How sad" or "How pitiful."
39. kedo- but, but still.: More formal variants are keredo and keredomo. The latter form is generally restricted to writing Japanese nowadays.
40. kega- wound, injury.: It's also possible to use this term to refer to a spiritual violation or defilement.
41. keisatsu- Police.
42. ki-: this term is used in countless compounds and idioms. Although there are too many to describe in detail, "ki" is generally used in two senses. One is its literal meaning of "air." The other is its figurative meaning of "spiritual essence." Many English speakers know this concept through the Chinese loan word "chi." One common compound is kimochi, the chi one bears, hence "mood."
43. kokoro- heart.: Common extensions of this meaning are "sincerity" and "spirit/willpower."
44. korosu- to kill.: Often occurring in the passive past tense (korosareta) and imperative tense (Korose).
45. kowai- to be frightful, afraid.: The exclamation Kowaii! Can be translated as either "Scary thought!" or "I'm scared!," depending on the context.
46. kuru- to come.: It's command form, Koi!, can mean either "Come here!" or "Come on!"
47. mahou- magic, magic spell.
48. makaseru- to place one's trust in someone or something,: to count on.
49. makeru- to lose.: The phrase Makeru mon ka! Means "I can't/won't give up!" or "I'll never give up!"
50. mamoru- to protect, guard.: The inflected form most commonly found in anime is mamotte ageru, "I'll protect you."
51. masaka- Can it be?; It can't be!, No!
52. matsu- to wait.: The shouted command "Wait" is "Matte (kudasai)!" or "Machinasai!" Mate! is an abbreviated form of Matte!
53. mochiron- of course, without a doubt.
54. mou- already.: As an exclamation of frustration, it means "Enough!" or "Geez!"
55. musume- young woman.: As an epithet, ko musume is stronger than a literal translation of "little girl" would suggest. When used in this sense, "girlie" or "bitch" come closer to capturing the meaning.
56. naka- a word referring to one's relations, both familial and platonic.: Nakayoku suru means "to get along." "Nakama" means "close friend(s)" or "trusted ally(-ies)."
57. nani- what.
58. naruhodo- I see.; So.
59. nigeru- to flee.: Often used in the imperative form, Nigete! or Nigero!, in which case it's best translated as "Run!" or "Get away!"
60. ningen- human; humanity.: Refers to mankind as a species, especially when contrasted with alien races, demons, elves, etc.
61. ohayou- abbreviated form of ohayou gozaimasu, "good morning.": Men have the option of using the reduced form ossu in casual speech.
62. okoru- to get angry.
63. onegai- truncated form of onegai shimasu, "I beg of you," "Please" or "Pretty please.": Without the o- prefix, it means "wish."
64. oni- demon, ogre, or any other supernatural life form inimical to mankind.
65. Ryoukai!- message received and understood-"Roger!"
66. Saa- a noncommittal reply indicating that one has understood a statement and given it serious thought.: Some possible translations are "So!," "Well!," and "Beats me!" (A good English equivalent might be the British "Innit?")
67. sasuga- a person is living up to his reputation or the speaker's personal expectations.: Yahari, on the other hand, refers to situations proceeding as expected or dreaded. (Yahari is often translated as "I knew it!" when used in exclamatory mode.) Yappari is a more casual variant of yahari. Other like terms are aikawarazu, "the same as always," and Sono touri, which means just so when employed as a response to a question.
68. sempai- anyone who is one's senior in a hierarchical organization.: The term cuts across all classes and occupations, and must be translated according to context.
69. shikashi- however, but, nevertheless.
70. shikata ga nai- an expression meaning "No help for it," "No way to avoid it," "Nothing left but to deal with it.": Shou ga nai is an abbreviated form.
71. shinjiru- to believe in.: The inflected form most frequently encountered in anime is shinjirarenai, "I can't believe it!"
72. shinu- to die.: The most common inflected forms are Shinda, "Dead.", Shinanaide!, "Don't die!", and Shi'ne!, "Die!"
73. shitsukoi- persistent, relentless,: tenacious-at the very least a constant pain in the ass.
74. sugoi- one of three common superlatives that all happen to begin with su-.: The other two are suteki and subarashii. The three are generally interchangeable. However, sugoi often expresses an admiration for someone else's power or talent, and may be mixed with a sense of dread. It can straddle the line between "awesome" and "awful." Suteki is most often applied to physical appearance. It's used most often by women, but it can be applied to both genders. Subarashii is more neutral and can be translated as "great." Although lacking the su- beginning, kakkoi is a superlative used mostly in describing people-"Cool!" Note: A spoken variant of sugoi is Suge-e!
75. suki- affection, liking.: Also used to signify "love." If anything, the phrase "Suki da." is even more ambiguous than the English "I like you."
76. suru- to do.: A frequently occurring phrase is "Dou shiyou?," meaning "(Oh,) What shall I do!"
77. taihen- when modifying an adjective, it means "extremely.": When it describes a situation without any other adjectives, it means "terrible."
78. tasukeru- to aid.: The exclamation "Tasukete kure!" = "Help me!/Save me!"
79. tatakau- to fight, do battle.
80. teki- enemy.
81. tomodachi- friend.
82. totemo- very, extremely.: It can be pronounced tottemo to indicate extra enthusiasm.
83. unmei- fate, destiny.
84. uragirimono- traitor.
85. ureshii- happy.: As an exclamation, Ureshii! Can be translated as "I'm so happy!" or even "Whee!"
86. urusai- noisy.: When used as an exclamation, it's best translated as "Be quiet!" and occasionally "Shut up!" Usse-e! is a spoken variant.
87. uso- a lie.: As an exclamation, it can mean "You must be kidding!," "You lie!," or "No way!" Spoken variants are Usso! and Ussou. The word usotsuki means "liar."
88. uwasa- rumor.
89. wakaru- to understand.: Common inflections are wakatta (understood) and wakaranai (don't understand). Note that the abbreviated forms of wakaranai are gender specific, with women favoring wakannai and men likely to say wakaran or wakanne-e.
90. wana- trap, snare.
91. yabai- miserable, wretched (situation).: As an exclamation, this can be translated as "This is bad!" or an emphatic "Uh-oh."
92. yakusoku- promise, oath.
93. yameru- to stop, quit, terminate.: The exclamation Yamero! can be translated as "Stop (it)!" or "Enough!"
94. yaru- this verb has several meanings.: It's a deferential form of the verb "to do." It's also a form of the verb "to give" reserved for gifts made to social inferiors (and plants and animals). Finally, it can mean "to try, attempt."
95. yasashii-: although pronounced the same as the Japanese word for "easy," in anime it's more likely to refer to the character for "splendid, exceptional." For example, yasashii seikaku means "good-natured" and yasashii hito means "a great guy."
96. yatta-: probably originated as the past tense of yaru, but has long since taken on an independent meaning. Used to proclaim victory or good fortune. Possible translations include "Hooray!," "Banzai!," "I did it!," and "Yay!"
97. yoshi- an exclamation used when readying oneself to take an important action.: Possible translations include "Here I come!," "All right (,then)!" Spoken variants are yosshi and yo-oshi!
98. youkai- an occult monster.: Sometimes used as a general term for occult phenomena.
99. yume- dream.
100. yurusu- to forgive, pardon.: Forms of this verb commonly found in anime are O-yurushi kudasai or Yurushite kudasai, meaning "Forgive me!" Even more common is yurusanai/yurusenai. This phrase can be literally translated as "I won't/can't forgive you!," but an idiomatic translation generally requires that attention be paid to the specific circumstances in which the exclamation is shouted or growled. "I will grant no quarter!" might work in some historical periods, but "You're finished!" would work better in most contemporary settings. Other possibilities which work in certain circumstances are "Your day is done!," "It's curtains for you!," "You're through!"...you get the idea.

Food: Healthy and easy food

2015-02-16T02:23:00.000-08:00

I thought I that I should add a really nice meal, that consists of enough veggies and protein and low in carbs and fat. Its a really easy dish, it's just all about finding food you really like and add them together.

This is how my plate looked when I was done:

This dish is just basic ovengrilled chicken with some of my favorie veggies:

Leek
Onion
Shrooms

This dish didnt take more a lot of time to prepare, the biggest time was spent on just waiting for the chicken to be done in the oven. I think I had it in for 20 min on 200*c, but you will notice it on the outside of the chicken when it's done. Worst case take it out and cut the biggest part in half and see if it's still red.

____________________________________________________

This is another easy dish which tastes good good :3

Also a dish where I used the oven. Ovenbaked meet is the one that have the least chance to destroy the meat structure at moleculear level.

Green cabbage
Red beans

_______________________________________________________________

This dish is made with salmon as my main ingredient, I picked some natural not spiced salmon filee to prevent them from being over salted. I end up using pepper and seasoning and at some points also a bit of garlic powder for extra taste

Carrot
Asparagus beans/green beans

__________________________________________________________________

Another dish with pork, also this time it is made in the oven, but it's not a problem frying it, the only difference is that it won't be as tender as one that is made in the oven. I used a sauce here, to spice up the meat a bit, thats all up to the person eating. Personally I try to take out the sauce to not get any extra callories. I ended up putting some sesame seeds on the veggies pluss some soysauce-mixture

Spring Onion
Broccoli
Celery
Green beans

_____________________________________________________________________

Chicken cut up in small pieces mixed with spring onions and lemongrass, with my soysauce-mixture. most of my food is basically made as seperated veggies and meet, or as a wok-ish thing. This one is one of the meals that is made into a wok where I fry the meat first than add the veggies at the end of the frying time. While the veggies gets done I put in the sauce or seasoning. The salad is topped with some cottage cheese for more taste and to make the salad not so boring.

Spring onions
Lemongrass
Salad

____________________________________________________________________

Its important to eat enough while at work or school, and as a fast and easy meal you can allways go for some kinda salad. There are so many posibilities to mix around your favorie ingredients and use stuff like tuna, chicken, eggs, or ground meat as the main ingredient. I used tuna in mine since its really good.

Plain salad
Red onion
Tomatoes

_________________________________________________________________________

Another wok variant. This one is made with chicken, but you can also go for like beef or something similar. But as a student I dont have money to use on beef because it cost too much, thats why I focus on chicken and pork as they are cheaper meat-product than beef. I tend to stick around wtih the same variant of vegetables but there are a lot of vegetables to chose from. The sauce I used here was a terayaki sauce I bought allready mixed up together.

Carrot
Onions
Leek

_____________________________________________________________

Some days, you just want to make a really good and tasty meal with sauce on. This time I had chicken with bretagne bretagne sauce which after my opinion is one of the best sauces for chicken. I also made a sweetpotato gratin beside a allready big enough meal. But at least it gave me a lot of energy.

Broccoli
Green beans
Cauliflower
Chanterelle
Sweet potatoes

____________________________________________________________

This can be used for some lunch, with ciabatta-bread with a chicken piece and bacon, surronded by some more veggies.

Leek
Broccoli
carrot
Min onions

This is my list of different kinda food I have made, if there is any questions feel free to leave a comment :)

Game: Tera slowmotion video

2015-02-16T01:34:00.002-08:00

I have been playing Tera for a good while now, and a friend of mine showed me how to get a really cool slowmo effect on your attacks. I ended up trying this with him and recorded the process. The editing is done by my very very awesome friend Fuzzydog, who made it into a really nice vid, all creds to him.

This is of my main reaper on the server Fraya EU, which is my lil pvp reaper :D

If you enjoy it please give it a like :)

Challange: Fitness challange

2015-02-16T01:30:00.001-08:00

I recently started out a new challange. Me and two other friends are competing against eachother to see who would have changed their body the most on 6 months. Obviously me as a girl would get different goals and challanges than two guys, but overall we will see a lot of changes.

So well yeah my goal is the tummy-area. To get most of the fat away and start working on some muscles and to get just a bit marked. Their challange is to gain weight in muscles, approxemetly 10-15kg. Mine doesnt really count on the kiloes, since I would mostly try to transform fat to muscles.

I will update this matter for the nexts months, allready 1 month into this challange. I started out with a pretty okay base, because I did do one year of gym before I stopped. BUT now i'm back in buisness again :3

At the first week this was my stats:
Height: 173 cm
Weight: about 79kg
2km treadmill runtime: 12 minutes and 30 seconds
Weight lifting: Usually just the shaft (20kg)

I'm dont' really like to post pictures of myself on net but here it goes anyway:

Miss boxhead :3

I have changed a bit on my diet too, mostly the part where I didnt think much about the food I ate.

Food I stopped eating:

All types of suger, if i need anything sweet I use stevia or sukrin
Almost all types of carbs exept for days I am bad at eating

Mostly my food exist of clean meat, not some product stuffed with lots of ingredients and veggies.. Lots of lots of veggies :D I dont really count callories, since I have been doing this for a while. I know kinda how much I need daily without getting too full or too little food.

My training:

From 11 pm - 01 am, all round training, focus on both cardio and strenght

10-15 minutes with running on threadmill
10-15 minutes metabolic circuit training (LINK), every second day
1 hour with weightlifting

Might some days also have a morning exercise that consist of some pushups, situps and squats

I can specify if anyone wondering about some details :)

Food challenge day 2: BAKED SALMON

2014-03-23T15:18:00.000-07:00

Today I found out that I should continue with an easy fish-dish. I had some salmon in my freezer and figured out that I wanted to use it today. I searched "cooking-with-dog" for any salmon-dishes and this is what I ended up with:

I had to change a lot on this recipe because of the shrooms and the fact that I didn't have mush vegetables my refrigerator. Soo what I used instead was:

1/2 onion
1 carrot
3-4 cloves of garlic (because I love garlic)
A handfull of French beans

All the vegetables was fried in a wokpan for a few minutes, just to get them heated up. I like my vegetables a little crunchy, specially the carrots, but the heating time is all up to what you like.

I also used 250 g raw salmon which I heated on 225*C for about 40 minutes

The sauce:

1 lemon
The same amount soysauce as the lemonjuice

I ended up adding just a pinch with wasabi-sauce and a little bit of sesame oil for great taste.

I used about half of the sauce on the vegitables while they got fried and the other half on top of the meal when put together.

Put the vegetables in a round bowl, add the fish on top and sprinkle on some white sesame seeds.

This is how my dish looked when it was done:

Game: Tera

2014-03-21T06:17:00.002-07:00

Presenting an online MMRPG!

One of my favorite games at the moment must be: Tera. It's like all the other MMRPG games out there, but something facinated me more with this than for example Word of Warcraft (no hate please, that is just not something for me :))

Oh well, back to Tera. The gamedesign is more on the cute side than the rough side. By that I mean errhhh the moves and the characters can have everything from wings to cute small animal ears as accessories. One example is the race: Elin and Popori:

Elin

Popori

Picture of an Elin and a Popori :)

I guess I can add up the rest of the races when I'm at it:

Aman (Male)

Aman (Female)

Baraka

The next race is the race I have as my main: It's called Castanic:

*ADD PICTURE*

High Elf (Female)

Human (Female)

As probably notices, most ot the female outfits are a little...errhh revealing. Nothing new or special since this is an asianmade game. Lots of fan-service :)

Anyway, now that we have taken a look on the races, I think it's time to look at the different classes;

Close combat: Berserker, Slayer, Warrior and Lancer

Range: Archer, Sorcerer

Healers:

Gameplay:

It's like all MMRPG games, you're going to do a lot of quests; zone and story quests. It's a lot of repeatable tasks but you won't get that bored by it. Like you have normal "killing" quests, where you need to kill of like 10 of a kind. These one are quite simple and only require time.

The quests that are really requiring some skills are the bam-quests, where you have to kill of a bigger and more difficult enemy. It's recommended that you do this one as a party, since it takes up much time to solo it.

Some classes are good solo characters like Lancer (supertanky and can hold up for a long time), I also think that it's not that hard for a slayer, berserker or an warrior to solo it.

I myself have tried to solo with mystic and an archer. Mystic did work if you're up for like 10-15 minutes, which means if you do one mistake, you have to start all over.. The easiest mistake to be done is to drag another bam after you... then you're pretty much fucked.

I have also tried soloing with an archer, but I noticed that it's too difficult to move away from the attacks, because of short jumpback skill.

Different kinds of BAMs:

Bamfight with lancer

Zone quests are marked with yellow ex marks "!" and story quests are maked in red

What I really like about Tera is the way they have used the map to make things a lot easier for the player. Instead of wondering "oh where the hell is that kind of BAM or enemy?" you can just click on the quest tab and the objects and your objects will show as a orange circle on your map.

There is so much more to write about this game but I'll update this later if I feel like it :)

Japanese food challenge day 1: TAMAGOYAKI!

2014-03-21T06:05:00.001-07:00

I am going to do a little theme-posts event, where I'll make japanese food by watching my very favorite cooking show; "cooking with dog". I'll do this because I simply love asian food and because it's so much fun to make a little different food that what's "normal" in my country. Since I'm foreign, and lots of the ingredients are difficult to get, i'll add some changes throughout the recipe. Maybe some will say that it's not the same without the right ingredients but what can I do?

So what i'll do if mark each post with "Food challenge day #", but of course I don't have time to blog every day so this will only work as a reminder on how many recipes I have gone through. I will add the original video on every post and add my own picture at the end, where I'll list of the ingredients. Hope you all will like it

So here it goes:

This is a very easy recipe for japanese omelette, and it's so much fun to make it. I used a big pan circle-formed pan to make this and it worked out pretty well, but the shape isn't that pretty compared to a square-formed pan.

First I'll just add the ingredients listed in the youtube-video:

Ingredients for Tamagoyaki (serves 2)
3 Eggs
3 tbsp Dashi Stock
(3 tbsp water+a pinch of dashi stock powder)
1⅓ tbsp Sugar
1 tsp Soy Sauce
2 pinches of Salt
20g Mitsuba Parsley Leaves (0.7 oz)
or substitute: spring onion, coriander, mentaiko (marinated roe of pollock) or aonori seaweed
Daikon Radish, Grated
1 Shiso Leaf
A splash of Soy Sauce
Olive Oil or your favorite vegetable oil
Tamagoyaki Pan (15x16.5cm/6x6.5 in)

Since my pan was a little bigger than the chefs pan I used 4 eggs instead of 3. The Dashi-stock is something that's quite hard to find here, so i just removed it and placed it with some sesame-oil (Because I really like the taste). I use a soy sause with less salt in too, because it can quickly get too salty.

The filling ended up being dried chives, but as she mentioned you can use whatever greenstuff you want. In another video she used spinach.

I didn't really care for the garnish so I just cut out the rest.

This is how my dish looked when it was done:

As you can see, since I used a circle-pan the front piece didn't look so good.

Well that's the first one. Hopefully I won't forget to add more dishes :)

Stay tuned!

Have you ever struggled with doing your job or homework because you wish to listen to something not too distracting, but find yourself starting up spotify?

Well I have. A lot of times. Yeah spotify got lots of great songs but when you need to concentrate, what you really need, is:
1. First, a song without lyrics. The second you find yourself singing along with the vocalist, you have already failed. This is one of the most annoying thing if you need to concentrate. By all means, this is MY personal opinion. Some people can still work with singing in the background.

Here you get some songs by our big reggae star, Bob Marley allthough with vocals though:. This is a video on 2.41 hours:
Unfortunately I couldn't find it on the easy-add video function on blogger, so I will give you the direct link to youtube instead: -->YOUTUBE<--

2. Second, I think classic music is the very best for working. You might think I'm very wrong here but I have actually felt more concentrated while listening to soft pan-flute music, like this one

I actually found this one too, which was quite good, where you'll have a chilled beat in the background:

3. Third is the type of genre, even if the song is instrumental it could still be giving you problem with working, but as I mentioned earlier, this is so different from person to person. I'm adding a video from Daft Punk, instrumental version of the song "Lose yourself to Dance" hopefully you'll enjoy it.

Here is another one, with piano as the main instrument; playing good old love songs, I turned down the volume a bit here, or else some parts will get to loud to work with:

If you are more of the jazz-type it's easy to find something good to work with. I found one that last 6 hours, so no I haven't heard through it all, since I'm not the biggest jazz fan :P but it has gotten 1.5 mill hits in under a year so I guess it's good stuff :)

Some instrumental R&B music, not to much superdrops or anything, just chill beats;

Next one is also in the R&B genre, but instead of piano as the main instrument we got a guitar instead: Worth listening to:

For those who prefer a little bit of instrumental slow rock, Sinima Beats got some very good ones:

More slow guitar with some rap-inspirited beats:

If you ignore the 10 sec start-up subscribe part this is a melody consisting of a beautiful piano + some extra beats;

That's all for now, I should really get going with my own working, instead of giving you all these examples of studying music. Maybe I'll make a part 2 to this with more to pick from :)

Fitness girls: Hot or not?

2014-02-01T04:42:00.001-08:00

I think the big training-boom started only a couple of years ago. Suddenly everyone focused on training hard. Many fitness-bloggers got popular fast with their training-tips and healthy "fitness-food". I have also thrown myself into this madness but the question that I have asked so many already is; is it hot or horrible to see woman with muscles that isn't just skinny, but awfully strong too?

My personal opinion here is; Daaamn! I wish more girls would train hard to get a healthy body instead of a thin and unhealthy body that is build only on special "thin-genes".
In Norway we got many "fitness-girls" and I would like to give them a special place here in my blog, in case anyone wanted to read more about their hardworking days:

First up: Linn Cesilie Tovås, which participate in bikinifitness Norway and won this competition in 2013

She focus much on her daily training of course, but she also have good tips on how to eat good stuff without being to fanatic. I guess she's the only one at the moment that will get a little introduction, since I'm to lazy to write more :P
-->BLOG<--

Next I will add some random inspirational fitness-girls:

Dana Linn Bailey, one of the more extreme woman out there

Here is her youtube channel: -->YOUTUBE<--

It's hard to find good picture where the girl isn't dressed up in 10 layers of makeup while taking a photoshot. I try as best as I can to find more natural training girl that isn't in just for the fame.

I'll think I'll end this post with a fun little movie. The flipside workout. On this clip the roles are completely changed. All the steriotypes from the gym where the guys are like "YEAHH training, lots of protein!", they suddenly end up in the yoga room. Enough of that, just watch it;

Oh and if any girls feel like wanting to achieve this, but need a little more motivation, you got to check out this video below, because it will get you pumped up and and your willpower will definitely shoot high. Damn.

Chinese New year

2014-01-31T11:17:00.000-08:00

Yesterday it was Chinese new year! And this time we move into the year of The Horse:

Another year have passed and a new year is approaching in high speed. Since I'm half Chinese and half Norwegian it's quite clear that I wanted to at least give it a thought. I live in another city than my parents so I couldn't really celebrate it with some others, but I managed to search the web and find some fine recipes for the delicious Wonton soup!

The site I used was this one if someone is interested: --->WONTON_SOUP<--.

I did change a little bit of the recipe though, because of what I had tasted before and a little because I wanted to experiment :P

For the soup, instead of adding chicken broth I used two slice chops, because then the soup will get some more flavor + the meat is really good. If you choose this way of making them, remember to let the meat lay in half boiling (under half of max temperature) for about 3-4 hours, untill the meat seperate from the bone .

Cops

Beside adding chops, I added some mushrooms. So as you can see, this takes time and must be prioritized first. While the meat cook you can continue preparing the meat mix. The recipe here is really good but I noticed that it didn't get so flavorish as I wanted it. I ended up using more of the soy-sauce and the vinegar. A little thing I remembered from home was to put in around 1-2 tsp with dry cherry wine. It tastes so much better, after my opinion. I used a brand called Alegria, which is actually a 37,5%, but since we're using it in food the alcohol disappears into the water.

This is how the cherry looks like.

It's a international brand so I guess it's easy to get :)

Remember to use enough salt too, my wontons was as I mentioned earlier not filled with so much taste as I wanted, but you guys just have to test it out a little bit. If you are unsure put some of the meat mix into another bowl and add the stuff you want to try.

When everything is ready you'll get a nice boiler filled with good stuff.

I personally ate around 10 wontons before I felt full, but then again, I don't eat that much nowadays, so I will guess a normal adult will eat something between 8-15, depending on how much extra stuff you'll add (shrooms, cabbage, extra meat)

This is my own picture of how it looked like in the end.

Hope you enjoy this new year and stay healthy.

Anime: Deadman wonderland

2014-01-08T03:49:00.001-08:00

I was going to write about this for a long time now but I haven't got enough time for it. But here it goes:

Deadman Wonderland isn't a anime for people that get easily emotional attached to characters, because this is an anime where people get hurt or even die (no spoilers, I promise :P) The first episode is where you'll get to meet the main person Ganta Igarashi, who really is a little bit of a brat. You'll see his personality real quick.

It all happends at school, where a strange man floating outside of the window suddenly blows the whole classroom to pieces. Everywhere it's blood and it looks like Ganta is the only one alive.

Ah what can I say without spoiling to much, he gets arrested and sent to prison. But it's no ordinary prison.

This prison was made for amusement, where the inmates are competing and trying their best to not get killed.

Throughout the anime we will meet a very special girl, I will not reveal too much about her but

you can see a picture:

A white girl dressed in a white bodysuit with red circles

Just to give you a sneak peak this is my Deadman Wonderland background for my mobile :3 Love it ^^

This is of my favorie person; hope it will get you to watch it!

Cute: Rabbits

2013-12-22T13:42:00.001-08:00

I thought I could post some cute pictures of rabbits today. Why?

Because isn't this little fellah adorable?

What makes these creatures "cute"?

Well look at this one:

It got fluffy fur, and big long fluffy ears and who could resist those eyes?

Two rabbits in a cup?

Those noses! So adowable!!

I simly cannot end this blogpost without some baby bunnies

so here they come!

Prepare you're "awwww's" THEY WILL COME!

Zzzzzz....

Sniff sniff

Sweeeeepy face!

So small! It even fits a hand!

It's a chicke..wait a minute...rabbit?

One cup with bunny please.

"Whoever did this to me is going to suffer".. ehehe

I think this is enough of cuteness for today

NEXT up! kittens!

Learn: Goats...and trees.

2013-11-30T18:34:00.003-08:00

Ah soo you want to know something about goats? What a weirdo you are! But here it goes... This is most likely one of the weirdest thing I have read for a while (only a while though)
Diiiiiid you know that goats live in trees?

Totally legit. I promise.

Uhm yeah, I found this picture randomly (..and not by actually searching for goats in trees... I promise...maybe...drop it please!)

So yeah this is actually a special type of goat who lives in Morocco. As I read in the article I found about these incredible animals, these goats climb in something called an "Argan tree" to find food? As if this wasn't weird enough... as I keep reading it tells me that these goats poop tree-seeds

QUOTE: "The droppings of the goats contain the kernels of the seeds they consume which are, strangely enough, used by locals to press and grind into oil." errhhhhh? What?

It doesn't stop here... The droppings is used in some kinds of local food and cosmetic items.. So some people EAT this.
Have fun in Morocco. I think I stay the fuck away.

BAAAAH!

Game: League of Legends update!

2013-11-30T17:53:00.000-08:00

A few days ago, League of Legends had a big update. First of all I got a little sad that I didn't reach up to Silver before the last season ended.. Not that I played much anyway, but it would have been fun to get the extra stuff and rewards.. I ended up in Bronze 2 though...

Oh well, I think I need to give out my opinion on the new season. As usual, the first game really sucked... Riot had added lots of new items and changed some of my core champions. Mostly because the only champs that got nerfed was the supports... Yeah, I'm one of the supportplayers.

The biggest difference was the GOLD ITEMS:
I won't go into details about each and one of them.. That would be too stupid since you can find them all HERE:

The only thing I will do is add the pictures and describe my opinion about them:

These three are levlable aka it got 3 different levels.

My personal favorite are Relic Shield, because with this item it's easier to share the gold in botlane.. Since both will recieve the same amount of gold by last hitting. So the support can now get extra gold.

This is also a chose-able item, where you can only have one that gives out extra gold so if you pick Ancient coin you can neither pick Relic or Spellthief (lux skin :D)

----------------------------------------------------

The masteries have also changed, so much to keep track on in the start:

This is how the utility mastery look like, Riot has added some extra gold blocks, like the second to the left 4 spaces down, which gives you +1 gold for each minion you don't hit or something.. So yey lots of more ways to get jewish :3

-------------------------------------------------------

Oh I nearly forgot the TRINKETS!!

Trinkets, Trinkets my lovely trinkets... It makes my job lot easier.. because..? FREE WARDS!

Everyone on the team can pick either:

1. A free warding item

2. A Reveaking and Disabeling Lensing stuff (kinda like Akali's W, only that instead of hiding the champion, it detects wards :3 <--- Awesome right?

3.A longrange revealing orb, kinda like the Clairvoyance summonor spell ( I have never seen anyone use this though,,,)

If this still sounds like unclear, which it probably does I suggest you to visit >>THIS<< video, this guy explain it pretty good and shows it visually

Errrhhh, a small picture taken from the youtube movie :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ahhh, I think that covers most of the newelish items, hope someone will think of this as some kind of usefull shit but I don't give a shit :C GO AWAY IF YOU HATE IT.... or read it again to torture yourself... Yeaaaah....

Game: CookieClicker!

2013-10-14T13:22:00.002-07:00

I have found the most entertaining game ever! Or maybe not the most... but at least it's totally addicting!
It's called cookie clicker and is made by a guy who calls himself Orteil. It has been up for a little over a month now I think, and I have played from NEARLY the start

Here the link : http://orteil.dashnet.org/cookieclicker/

It's as simple as this: You click a big cookie to "bake" more cookies. The point is really just to get as much as possible, while buying upgrades and extra helpers like (grandmas <--- Kidnap every grandma!, factorys, mine, time machines)

The last type of building added to the game is the insane "Antimatter Condenser". It cost a lot but it also produces so many cookies per second that it's totally worth saving up for.
Ofc what's keep the game kinda interesting are the achievements. Today it's possible to get 92 achievements + shadow achievements, that are achievements that are very difficult to achieve.

Another thing that seperates one player from another in how fast he/she gets cookies are the GOLDEN COOKIES! Which appears randomly and early game, are rare. I think at the start, before you buy any upgrades it could go maybe 15 min between each cookie. The problem is that the golden cookie is on your screen for only a couple of seconds so you need to watch over it constantly to not miss them.
So yeaah, atm I got 2352 golden cookies:

This is my stats are I write:

The reason I got THIS much in just 128 hours is because I have reset my game, and got +790& CpS.

Hope someone finds this as interesting as I do.

Happening: TG, The gathering Norway 2013

2013-04-04T10:14:00.002-07:00

Hey,

Easter has just ended and I have been spending it with 5000 other persons. Location: "Vikingskipet", Hamar, Norway.

From Wednesday 27th to Sunday 31th (Mars) a lot of people from all over Norway gather up for the second biggest LAN-party in the whole world. Only Sweden got a bigger arrangement than Norway. This was my very first year here, so I was pretty exited when I drove towards TG. The first thing that hits' you when you arrive is really how big it is. and all the people, each with their fancy computer. Some have been exited about TG since last year and have made shelf's and other cool stuff to bring to with them.

I'll post a overview picture so it's be a little clearer how big and how many people it really are there:

I'll actually post the first picture of me on my whole blog, since my computer is....pink. :D

Chopper maskot <3

Well moving on.. throughout the week there were many competitions, both serious gameing competitions (LoL, Starcraft, HoN, trackmania +++) and some fun games that were held on stage like: eating competitions, paperplane throwing competition, minigames etc etc, you could win lots of cool stuff, one person won a brand new headset that had not even got out in the stores, so that was pretty big..

If you got tired of playing games or so there were some presentations both on the main stage and in conference rooms. Some of the topics: 3D-modelling, Linux, Javascript, cosplay, Anatomy and posing, android, Win8, and so on, lots of programming presentations and stuff like that..

The biggest problem that week had to be sleeping... First: The music is pretty loud all day and all night so you have to be able to sleep through it.. but it's pretty hard to find anywhere to actually sleep. Most people just lay their head on their keyboard and sleep there.. But that's not really comfortable x) I did that the first night and my neck and shoulders were soooo dead.
You could try to get a sleeping place in the tribune but it's not that many places that are allowed to sleep on because of possible emergency exits. And apparently this years sleeping tents didn't have any heating system and to sleep in MINUS 15-20*C is not very nice x)

Overall it was one fantastic Easter, and I recommend everyone that is a huge gamer and likes to meet up with 5000 others for 5 days to join next year. Even though most of it is on norwegian, it's still possible for foreign people to join too : )

Song: Mineturtle

2013-02-26T02:39:00.000-08:00

I guess lots of you already heard of the asdf-movies on youtube. One of the highly random movies out there :P. One of the random stuff in the movie is the mineturtle. A cute little turtle that only say "hello", and if you are so unlucky to step on it, or somehow click the button on it's back... it will explode.. like a mine. Obviously x)

Here is the little Mineturtle song: ENJOY^^

And for those interested in watching more of the asdf-movies -->here's<-- a link to the channel.

First episode (1/6):

Poem/song: Teru-teru-bōzu

2012-03-21T15:53:00.001-07:00

This is kind of a poem/song from Japan, who represents the special doll that would make the weather sunny and keep the rain away, it's a very beautiful poem (I think I just stick to calling it a poem).

Teru-teru-bōzu, teru bōzu

Ashita tenki ni shite o-kure

Itsuka no yume no sora no yo ni

Haretara kin no suzu ageyo

Teru-teru-bōzu, teru bōzu

Ashita tenki ni shite o-kure

Watashi no negai wo kiita nara

Amai o-sake wo tanto nomasho

Teru-teru-bōzu, teru bōzu

Ashita tenki ni shite o-kure

Sore de mo kumotte naitetara

Sonata no kubi wo chon to kiru zo'

Even Juvia from the anime Fariy tail got a Teru Teru Bozu doll

Some kind of translation (beware of mistakes!)

Teru-teru-bozu, teru bozu

Make tomorrow sunny

Like Heaven from a dream

If it become sunny, I'll give you a golden bell

Teru-teru-bozu, teru bozu

Make tomorrow sunny

If you make my wish come true

We'll drink a lot together

Teru-teru-bozu, teru bozu

Make tomorrow sunny

but if the weather is cloudy and you cry

I will chop of your head

I found out that this poem is actually about a munk who promised some farmers to stop the rain, because of the weather ruined the crops. In the end the munk didn't get the sun to come so he got executed =/

Learn: Ningyo Johruri Bunraku Puppet Theatre

2012-03-21T14:34:00.000-07:00

Yo!

I randomly found some vids on youtube about The Japanese Puppet Theater. And guess what? It fascinated me, so again.. I share it here:

Well first.. Ningyo Johruri. Ningyo does actually just mean puppet and Johruri is some kind of a narrator or a storyteller. The narrator I think use to sing the story in some kind of way.

So as you see in the video the puppet is not controlled with wires or anything like western puppetshow. It's usually three persons, one main and two "helpers" who controls the puppet

You can see that I have marked out the 3 "controllers"
Where the guy on the left is the main one

The visibility of the controllers are not important and I guess they are kinda part of the show. I thought it was kinda weird and different from what I have usually seen, you'll get used to it x) but as I told you before.. I find it very fascinating.. indeed.

What else.. hmm oh yeah, I even watched a clip were they told a little about the mechanism behind the movements of the different parts of the puppet.. Like they got several strips attached to the head that can move the head like in a nodding way or move the eyes to left and right, open and close mouth and move the eyebrows.

Again, I have marked out where the strings are
It's not easy to see.. but their there xD

I ended up watching three different shows lasting 4, 7 and 14 minutes.. so I spent around nearly half an hours watching this stuff.. Reminder to myself.. I have to go to the theater next time I'm in Japan!

Learn: Tsundere and Yandere

2012-03-21T11:43:00.002-07:00

Sooo if you're an anime fan or have watched some animes you have probably met the words Yandere and Tsundere. But what does these two words actually mean?

Well I'll try to describe them as easy as possible.
To help you understand it a little better I'll post a very good describing picture:

Soo lets start with the first one: Tsundere

As you see in the text under the picture (Which is Taiga from Toradora), the person is denying liking the apple .. Which means that the person is a coldhearted, kinda Sarcastic and does not want to show her feelings.

- This attitude is coming from the words Tsun Tsun which is used for a cold, denying and gruff attitude

But after some time her attitude will change into a more loving and friendly person who ends up with falling in love with the person.
- This attitude is from the words Dere Dere which really means that the person become soft and weak-hearted.. if that made any sense x)

Pictures of some of the most known Tsundere:

Ofc I had to add Taiga Aisaka

This is her in her "Tsun Tsun"-mode

This is also Taiga, but in "dere dere"-mode

Rin from Fate Stay Night

Misaka Mikoto from Index is a typical tsundere imo

I hope I haven't fucked up and misunderstood anything but that's at least what I think of the word tsundere.

Sooo over to Yandere

The freaky psycho person :D! These persons are what I enjoy the most to watch, just because they are awesome.
So what's a yandere? Shortly it's a person who's obsessed with her crush and would to ANYTHING for him to become hers.
Her mood should be very quick-changing from loveydovey to a psycho violent person. They are often seen with some kind of weapon, often a knife or a cleaver.

I think the yandere person could be a yandere without really loving a person but just being connected and hanging out with him.. <--- I'm not really sure about that. An example of the last here is Rena Ryuugu from Higurashi no naku koro ni. I haven't really thought about her having some kind of a romantic view of Keichii but they have a friendly friendship relationship-thing-thing xD

Well screw that lets just post some pictures instead.. Maybe it'll become more clearer:

If you have read my blog, I have already written about this girl

As you see, it's Gasai Yuno from Mirai Nikki

This is the latest Yandere girl I have seen

She'll kill whoever gets in her way, to protect her crush

Original drawer of this pictures deviant: >>LINK<<

This is the girl I wrote about further up in this post:

Rene Ryuugu.....she's ... Really a scary girl

But as for the yandere, her mood changes and from being a violent killing machine she usually looks more like this :

Last person I'll post is Kotonoha Katsura

Those memories... O_O She's from the anime called : School days

The most fucked up..disturbing piece of work... damn

I can easily understand Kotonoha's urge to kill a certain person..

Maybe I should write about it soon

So yeah.. that's my post for today! Hope you guys are a lil more informed now and that my post helped you understand a lil bit more!

Anime: Mirai Nikki

2012-03-10T08:42:00.000-08:00

What would you give, to get to know the future?

This time I'm going to write some words about Mirai Nikki, one hell of a good anime!
It's all just a game, win it or die trying!

Yuiteru Amano-kun, scaredycat

The main character is a boy named Yukiteru "Yuki" Amano, who is kind of lonerboy who spend most of his time writing in his diary with his imaginary friend Deus, a god of time and space.
Later Deus makes Yuki's phone special, in a way that he get to know what's about to happend with him in the future.
Instead of writing himself, the phone text changes itself. The worst outcome is to get a "Dead end" message

Death is unavoidable! or is it?

This is the start of a very dangerous game involving death, a survival game.
He teams up with a classmate named Yuno Gasai, a stalker that really likes Yuki.
Yuno looks like just any innocent girl, but when Yuki is dragged further into Yuno's life, he finds out some truth about Yuno.

Gasai Yuno crying... why? Find out in the anime!

Anyways, this is all I'm going to reveal for you other than that the anime is still ongoing, but I think it will end on maybe 24 or 26 eps
I first found this series by reading the manga, but I didn't have time to read the end so I have no idea how it really ends, so I'm looking forward to watch the next episode

And just for the fun of it: More pictures of Gasai Yuno since she's really a badass girl!

Yoo!
Wow more videoes for you too see!! This time I chose a Japanese musicvideo with some very cute and colorful girl on! Everything is pink and childish. The vid is kinda creepy really but the song is a song that could make anyone cheerful and happy, after my opinion ^^

Super Kawaii desu! <-- lol I guess those words

are the first one any person who want to learn Japanese learn c:

And by any mean you didn't know this, it just means "cute"

Kawaii = cute

Desu = it is

Youtube: le Internet Medley

2012-02-16T13:03:00.000-08:00

I had forgotten about this until today, when I saw it randomly again xD!
It's a youtube video by " tomorsketches" where they play through some of the songs that rules the internet like Nyan cat, the leek-spin with Orihime (from bleach.. you all remember that one right?" and the trolololo and some more...
But they are really really good and funny!
Oh btw look at 0:39.. the guy is playing guitar with a leek! ... <--- more random stuff xD

but yeah check it out and give them a thumb up for creativity!

Enjoy!!
trololo, meme, nyancat, song <--- random tags C:

Anime: Durararararararara

2012-02-16T12:14:00.001-08:00

Yååå <--- Norwegian letters ftw!!

Well anyway.. Durarara! It's an anime that I watched kinda long time ago so I don't remember all the details and stuff, only that I liked it really much.
First thing first, the name is often simplified to DRRR when japanese people talks about this anime. <-- Totally unimportant really, but easier to write so.... ^^"

This is Kida (:

The plot is based on a guy named Mikado Ryūgamine, who's used to live outside cities, but has now moved into the big city of Ikebukoro because of his childhood friend Masaomi Kida invited him here. Kida explain to Ryūgamine about the many dangerous and violent people in this city that he should keep a great distance to.
But these guys are really the most awesome in the whole anime!

Mikado, it was actually quite hard to find a picture with just him

without alot of fanfiction/yaoi-inspired stuff xD

Anyways, I told you that I really liked the characters in this anime and I'll explain by posting a picture of them

Dam dam dam:

The first person: Shizuo Heiwajima

if you are wondering about what the text says it's:

I hate violence.

This is what he ends up doing

Yeah, that's a vending machine^^

The next person: Izaya Orihara

He's one hell of a bastard.. I kinda hate him

But he is at the same time so cool.__.

Damn you!

Eternal rivals!

Celty Sturlason! :D

I can't really say much about her without spoiling >.<

The foreign Russian guy: Simon!

Epic!

Well I hope these pictures will get you to scream: "DAMN OF COURSE I WANNA WATCH THIS!!" <-- This is what you say and this is what you click on --> http://www.gogoanime.com/durarara-episode-1

or you can click >>HERE<<!!... and you could even click on the star! --> *

Your choice!!

Matta ne~ <-- just because...I can.

oh and btw:

I just wanted to add this little video, that has nothing special to do with the anime but it is starring Shizuo Heiwajima, and I found it kinda cute ^^"

A little video :)
