Richmond: Emerging Choreographers Platform.

This platform gives the opportunity for an aspiring choreographer to showcase their work as part of Richmond's annual celebration of dance. RichDance features performances by young people and local dance schools and groups over two days, with an audience comprised mainly of local residents.
We hope that this platform will not only give emerging choreographers the opportunity to demonstrate their talent, but also will inspire younger RichDance participants and audience members towards a further interest in dance.
To participate you need to be available for performances on both Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 March 2012.
Please note that this is an unpaid opportunity.

Leila will deliver a combination of the two techniques, Flying Low & Passing Through, originally created by David Zamvrano plus her own development.

Flying Low: Diving low, flying high, jumping through, spiraling across, sliding, running, speeding… Flying Low focuses mainly on the dancers relationship with the floor moving quickly and efficiently in and out of the earth. Activating the voice as a tool to direct the body, express yourself and communicate with the group.

Passing Through: an improvisation technique working with David Zambrano’s philosophy, movement needs no leader in creation. Working with adaptation, interconnecting, transforming the environment of the dance and measuring our energy to never stop dancing. We are a flock of birds, we are interwoven, we are unlimited possibilities, we dance our life experiences to the fullest. We work to see the room full of pathways going in any direction filled with curves, visible and invisible spirals constantly passing through the space and each other. The passing through is created into a wild spontaneous composition.

Danish Dance Theatre is having its annual audition and will be looking for 1 female and 1 male dancer with strong modern and classical technique. The company performs works by Artistic Director Tim Rushton and guest choreographers from around the world. Danish Dance Theatre’s season includes a minimum of 70 performances which take place in Copenhagen, as well as a broad range of national and international touring.

To apply, please submit the following by email:
CV; 1 headshot photo; 1 full length photo and contact information - which should be marked clearly with address, email address and telephone numbers. Please note: You will NOT be accepted to the audition if we do not receive both head and full length photos from you.

If you have previously auditioned for the company please state this clearly in your application cover letter so that we can get back to you.

Your material should be marked either “AUDITION FRIDAY” or “AUDITION SATURDAY” and must be sent no later than the 31st of December 2010.

The first round of auditions will take place on Sunday 4th December 2011 in central London (exact location TBC). Successful applicants will be notified of their invitation to audition by 15th November, 2011.

Contracts for dancers run from Monday April 23rd 2012 through July 8th 2012 (11 week contract). Dancers are hired on a self-employed basis.

Remuneration is £1200 per calendar month, and requires daily attendance in company class, rehearsal and performance schedule.

Dancers who are seriously interested in the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company or KCDC's Dance Journey program, should read the following:

Lots of dancers express an interest in auditioning for our two companies. Unfortunately, positions available are very competitive and selective.

Therefore, we at KCDC have created a unique 5-month dance study program, called Dance Journey. This most-unique program which has very quickly increased in popularity, allows dancers to become closely acquainted with KCDC's repertoire, develop professionally, engage in creative process and take part in a once-in-a lifetime experience while living in our International Dance Village in the beautiful Western Galilee of northern Israel; home to the KCDC dancers.

A number of Dance Journey's past participants are now dancing in KCDC's second company and have received contracts with other professional dance companies in Israel and around the world. This program certainly offers dancers with a great opportunity for growth and job networking with other Israeli companies. This program is open to dancers from all over the world and begins every February and September.
