March started out good. The first Saturday in March found my friend Leila and I in Copenhagen. We went to see Phantom of the Opera. Oh my, it was brilliant!! We caught the afternoon show and then afterwards went out for dinner and a good natter. We had such a great day together.

Kristian and I found time to spend together and went on some beautiful walks in our area.

I had a few days off work in the middle of March. I spent some time relaxing at home, watching films, reading books and eating some good food.

I also took the opportunity to go to Copenhagen for the day and apply for an Irish Passport. Since Britain is leaving the EU I decided to become Irish. I want to remain in an EU country, it makes it easier for me to be in Denmark. So instead for renewing my British pass, I applied for an Irish one.

After visiting the Embassy I spent the day in Copenhagen, did a little shopping and ended the day with a visit to the cinema to see Green Book. Such a great film! The woman down at the end of the row from me fell asleep and was snorring her head of. Her husband didn´t even try to wake her so we watched the film with special sound effects!! :-)

We also had a big mishap.....There was a lot of rain in March and one day I went down to the small cellar that we have for storage and found that there was water all over the floor!! ARRGGGHHH.

We have a lot of our Christmas stuff in storage down there but luckily nothing was damaged. Most of the things were in big plastic boxes. It was just such a lot of work and bother to bring everything up until Kristian could get it fixed up.

Kristian´s cousin rang to say that he and a couple of friends were going on a course in our area and he was wondering if they could stay in our annexe. Now we had the opportunity to try and get it organised for them coming. We really want redecorate and buy furniture for it and rent it out as a holiday home but for the moment we found some old pieces of furniture that we had out in the garage, cleaned them up and brought them in.

I think it turned out ok, considering it was just the bits and bobs that we found about the house.

I felt it was cosy enough for them to stay in.

March was also a sad month for us. Kristian´s sister Signe had not been feeling well through out the Autumn. She had gone to the Doctor and was told she probably had a stomach ulcer. She was given pills that should help and they seemed to do the job.

Then during the Christmas holidays she started to feel bad again. After Christmas she went to see the Doctor again and he sent her for more tests.

The tests have shown that she has cancer and there is nothing that they can do for her. They could give her chemo but it wouldn´t really help, it would only prolong her life a few months.

Signe has decided that she doesn´t want chemo, she wants to live the days she has left on this earth without her body having to be through the terrible side effects of chemo. We are all devastated and are praying for a miracle. Signe is the kindest most caring person with a wonderful sense of humor and such talent too.

Every year in June, we hold a family day for the whole family since we are not always together for Christmas.We have done this for the last 26 years. This year we decided that we would hold an extra family day as Signes health seemed to be deteriorating day by day. It was to be held at our house. Signe had been with her husbands family for Christmas and had not been here to see the house with the rest of the family. She really wanted to see our new home.

The day before our family day Signe had a really bad day so we were wondering if she would be able to make it. However on the morning of our family day she was feeling good. We were all so happy.

Signe got the best seat in the house and everyone made sure she had everything she needed and wanted.

The weather was gorgeous that day. We headed out for a walk in the forest while Signe had a wee sleep in the sun.

We had such a great day together. We ended it with a sing song, which is always typical for our family when Signe is around.

I had a girls night out with one of my friends. This time we went to see the film Ben. Oh my it broke my heart. We cried so much. Afterwards we went out for dinner and a good chat about the movie.

Leah got herself a wee apartment in the next town, close to her school and hospital where she is studying and working. Once again we were on the move! This time helping her move.

It´s such a beautiful apartment.

Now we are empty nesters. Just Kristian, me and the cats! I think we are going to like this!! :-)

We had a week off work in February for our winter holidays. We didn't go traveling but stayed at home and had fun. I was able to meet up with different friends at a few of my favourite cafes. Sometimes we met for hot chocolate and cake, other times for brunch. I love taking time out to catch up with my friends. I am so blessed to have some wonderful friends and friendships in my life and I cherish everyone of them.

We had a girls sleepover. Some friends came and stayed the night and we did the whole works - good food, games, facemarks, fun and loads of laughter and chatting.

The weather was rather nice in February and so once again we were out exploring the area.....

Kristian and I also had a few dates at local coffee shops. Kristian had only a few days off work (I had a week) but we made the most of those days when he was home.

We got some work done around the outside of the house. It badly needed some tender loving care. Since we moved in just as the winter started we hadn't been in the garden at all. The last owner had not really looked after the garden so it really did need some work done.

Our goal was to move this pile of stones. It was hard work but so worth it. (I forgot to take an after picture - but we did get them moved!) We got the hedge cut and started a little work on the garden.

There are still a ton of things to do, but sure Rome wasn't built in one day. We will take it one step at a time.

We even got our bikes out and dusted for our first bike ride this year.

We have a forest close by, so we took a ride through the forest.

Again we found some beautiful nature spots.

We also enjoyed some wonderful sunsets at the beach.

At the end of February we took a trip over to visit Sara and Christian at the other side of Denmark. We had such a wonderful weekend with them. They live right in the city so it is such a change for us to be there were everything is happening just outside the door.

It was lovely seeing Sara and Christian and being in the buzz of the city but it was also lovely to come home again to the quietness of the countryside.

January 2019 and I started it with a fever. Thankfully I was quickly over it and back to work again.

I was able to do some art work together with my friend, Leila. We got together a couple of Saturdays in January and tried some new and different technics. It was so much fun, especially since we had no idea how the finished picture was going to turn out. Some we liked, some we didn't.

We got a small fall of snow. Even though it was cold, Kristian and I went out exploring this new area that we live in and found some lovely nature spots.....

We also went to visit Andrew one weekend and had a lovely day with him at his wee apartment. He had settled into life in his new town and was loving his new wee place and his new education course. Just such a pity it is an hour and a half drive form us.

I also spent as much time as possible in front of the fire reading.....

January just seemed to go by a bit too quickly!

Finally, it was the time of the year that I love - CHRISTMAS TIME!! and I was looking forward to decorating my new home with all the Christmas stuff I had. But before I got stuck into that, Kristian and I had to once again MOVE!! This time we were helping our old neighbour Laura move house. So the 1st December found us moving boxes and furniture again.

Once the big move was over, I got stuck into decorating for Christmas...

We were holding Christmas at home this year and a lot of Kristian´s family were coming to hold Christmas with us. We were so looking forward to it. Nearer the big day, we went and got our Christmas Tree from the cosiest Christmas market.

We had such a cosy time together getting the tree.

In school, I had the chance to dress up and spread a little Christmas cheer together with another colleague. We had some fun at the morning assembly while delivering a Christmas tree to the school for the kids to decorate.

To get in the Christmas mood I went to a Christmas concert that my friend's gospel choir was holding. It was such a good concert and it was good to take an hour or two out of all the preparations to focus on the real reason for Christmas.

We would be 24 people together for Christmas dinner on the 24th of December. We decided it would be good to eat the meal over in our annexe and then come over to the main house to open the presents and dance around the Christmas tree. So a week or so before Christmas we started the preparations in the annexe, I had to borrow chairs and tables from work and I bought loads of fairy lights to pin all over the ceiling. I was having so much fun getting everything ready. I got Kristian involved in the fun too - I bought some stupid masks for us to wear while decorating haha

We had such a lovely Christmas Eve together with Krisitan´s family. One family arrived at 1pm for lunch. We then headed to church together. When we arrived home at 3pm the rest of the family arrived. We all helped each other get things ready for the evening meal. Some of the young people played games and made sweets from marzipan and nougat. It was all just so cosy. We had a wonderful evening together.

Christmas Day it was just us 5 together.

After opening presents we made brunch and then headed of to the beach. It was a cold, blowy but beautiful day.

We finished of the day with a delicious dinner....

Sara headed back home after dinner on the 25th - Andrew stayed a few days longer.

For New Year all the kids had plans and we had Kristian´s cousin and his daughter coming for dinner and New Year celebrations. They would stay the night. We had such a cosy evening with them. Half way through the evening I started to feel really ill - I had a fever and so ended up starting of 2019 sick. Wonder what 2019 would hold for us.....

November 2018

It was amazing how quickly we settled into life in our new home, although we couldn´t get our minds around the idea that it was actually ours. We kept thinking we were house-sitting for family and would soon be moving back to our apartment. Kristian and I spent many an evening just walking around the house feeling very amazed and very blessed.

A week into November and we had our first guests for dinner. It was Kristian´s colleagues. We had 10 people here for dinner on a Friday evening after work. We had a great evening together with them.

The weekend after we had our friends Line and Tonni here for coffee and cake. It was great catching up with them. Then the weekend after that we had yet again people for dinner. It was Kristian´s friend Keld and his wife. Just before they came Kristian´s brother rang to see if we were home, they were in the area and wanted to see where we lived so we told them just to come to dinner along with our friends. We were 9 people for dinner. Luckily I had made a load of Beef Bourguignon in the slow cooker so there was enough food for all.

We also moved house for Andrew in the middle of November. He had gotten himself a wee apartment near were he would study in the new year. The apartment is so cosy and the monthly rental is cheap. The only down side - it is an hour and a half drive from us.

I had a few days off work at the end of November. I started my mini holiday by heading to Copenhagen for an afternoon and evening with my friend. We met up after work, had a massage and then went for dinner. The best thing was to come home and know that I didn´t have to get up for work the next day.

I spent a few days relaxing at home watching films and reading.

Leah and I went Christmas shopping on Black Friday and got a load of Christmas pressies at bargain prices. We literally walked miles and had a great time doing it!

The last weekend in November and we were entertaining again. This time my old neighbour and good friend Laura was coming along for dinner with some of our other old neighbours and friends. We were holding Thanksgiving together. Once again we had people around the table. (we were 8 this time) The food was delicious and the company just wonderful. We all felt that we had so much to be thankful for. It's good to take time out to count your blessings from time to time.

October 2018

The month we had been waiting for finally arrived. This month we would get the keys to our dream. We had for years dreamed of owning our own home but because the area in which we lived was an expensive area we were always just a little short of what we needed to buy a house there. ( I was also more interested in being at home with the kids than having a career and working long hours, so we prioritised that.) Now that the kids were grown, we felt that we could move to an area that was not as expensive.

We would be moving about a 30 to 35 minutes drive from where we had lived for 18 years and we could hardly wait. The only downside was that I was leaving behind my great neighbour and friend - Laura. It had been wonderful being her neighbour for 6 of those 18 years. (She, however, was also about to move - she too had bought a house in another town.)

Saturday 13th October we got the keys to our new home.

We could hardly believe that this was ours. We felt so grateful, thankful and blessed.

A few weeks before we moved I posted the photos of our coming home on Facebook. A friend wrote to me to say that the house we bought was just across from where his good friends lived and they were Christians. I thought that was pretty awesome - we had Christian neighbours. Then another message came from him. He said the girl actually came from Ireland! WHAT!!!!

So a few hours after we got the keys and were cleaning away in the house, someone knocked on our door. When I opened there was a couple dressed up in wigs and false teeth. They put their hands out to shake hands and said "hello we are your new neighbours" in Danish with a Ballymena accent haha

I was so excited to meet these neighbours, I was dying to know if the girl came from the South of Ireland or the North. Well, she came from the North, just outside of Belfast!! I could not believe it!!! A Christian and from my homeland - now only God could work that one out!!

Now that we had the keys we spent the first few days working away on the house getting it cleaned and painted, ready for the furniture. Kristian and I both had the week off work.

Leah and Andrew were a great help too - Sara not so much haha (Sara was also moving that week to an apartment in the middle of the city so she had enough to see to.)

Before long we had the place cleaned and painted and ready for the furniture.

We worked like crazy and before long we were arranging furniture and seeing what looked good where.

This was beginning to feel a lot like home

July, August and September 2018

We were on holiday on the other side of Denmark when the offer on our dream home was accepted. We were so shocked, excited and happy that we just decided to cut our holiday short and get back home so we could sign the papers.

In the middle of July, we signed the papers and the house was ours. We spent the rest of our holidays at home going on trips with the kids, with friends and sometimes just Kristian and me.

August came and it was back to work again after a wonderful summer holiday.

One of the first weekends in August found Leah and I driving to the island of Fyn to babysit for the weekend. Our old neighbours from years back, their daughter was getting married, and since all the family were going to the wedding she needed someone to look after her little son. I said I would do it and took Leah along for support.

I must admit I was a little nervous. The wee boy had only turned one and he had never seen me in his life. He was going to be staying with me for the weekend and I was feeling for him. I was mentally prepared for a sleepless, hard weekend. I couldn´t have been more wrong.

He took to us like a duck to water. He was as happy as anything and even when his mum walked down the aisle at the church, there was no crying. He just stayed sitting on my knee. We ended up having a great weekend with him.

In August we also started to pack. We would get the keys to our new place in the middle of October and we could hardly wait.

I started sorting out all our DVDs and photos. We found some precious old photos as we cleared up and packed things away. It felt good to get organised.

September came around rather quickly. We had our 28th wedding anniversary on 1st September. It´s so hard to believe that we have been married for so long. It has gone by so fast and what a blast it has been. I would do it all over again with him Kristian - he is just the best! To celebrate Kristian had arranged an evening out. We had the most delicious dinner and walk.

We have loads of birthdays in September too and so between birthdays and packing, the month just flew by.

Kristian was the first to hold a birthday.

Then it was Leah´s turn. She had invited some friends for brunch.

Sara had a birthday at the end of September but since she lives 4 hours away, we didn´t get to celebrate her face to face.

The packing really started to come along...

By the end of September, we had pretty much packed most of the house.

June, July 2018

By June life had gotten really exciting!!!

We had the deposit saved for our dream home (if you are wondering what that is all about you will have to go back and read April, May 2018) and amazingly it was still for sale. (we first saw it Easter 2017)

The bank had agreed to loan us the money and so we made an appointment to go and see the house one more time. We took Leah and Andrew along. (Leah had been there before but it was Andrews first time to see the place.) Andrew was not impressed. He thought it was old and run down. We could also see that the owner had not kept up repairs on it. It was looking more run down, but we still loved it. I was a little worried about the busy road that it was on but because it was back from the road I was sure we could live with that.

Kristian and I had decided on an amount to bid. We prayed about this amount and said that if he didn´t accept that amount we would not bid over, it would be God closing that door.

We were soooo nervous after we gave our bid. Kristian and I went to the beach to wait on the phone call while Andrew and Leah just went home. When the call came it was not good news. He would not accept our bid. He wanted way more than we were willing to bid. We were so disappointed. Me especially. I remember saying to Kristian that we should just ring the bank and get the extra money that the owner wanted, as the bank had originally said we could go up to that amount.

However Kristian didn´t have peace about giving more money for the place and deep down inside I didn´t either, but I was so confused. I was so sure this was the place that God had for us. I just could not understand. Maybe in a month or two, we could bid again. It looked like God had closed that door for us.

So we continued to check the internet and look for houses.

We found one that we sort of liked. It had wonderful views out the back. (see the photo above) The house was sort of our style but we were not wildly in love with it. We could make it work if we needed to.

And we were starting to feel the need to move. The owners of our apartment had told us that the rent would be going up from September 2018. They were asking roughly £400 more a month!! It was actually better for us to now buy a place than rent. So we really wanted to find a place as soon as possible.

About the middle of June, we saw a house on the internet that looked really interesting. It was a Thursday evening and it had literally just been put up for sale. I made an appointment to see it on the coming Sunday afternoon.

As soon as Kristian saw the place he fell in love again. I really, really liked it but there were a few things about the place that I didn´t like - the kitchen for example and the windows. (I always wanted small country house windows) But I loved where the house was situated, I loved the house itself, I loved the entrance and the fact that it had an annexe that I could use as a studio or as a bed and breakfast through time.

The house was in the country, yet not totally isolated.

There was a lot of interest in the house. There was a couple out looking at it before we came and another couple coming to see it after us. We told the estate agent that we were really interested and would like to come back with our carpenter for him to check it out.

So the following Thursday we were back again with my brother-in-law. He checked the house out and thought it was a fantastic house for the money. So the next day we rang and told the estate agent that we would like to put in a bid - unfortunately we couldn´t. They still had some legal papers to get ready so we could not bid before they were ready.

So we had to wait.

While we waited life continued......

June turned into July and it was time to go on holiday. We had a weeks holiday here in Denmark with Andrew and Leah. We just went exploring places close to us. We had some wonderful days together.

Then Kristian and I went away for a few days - just the two of us. We headed to Jutland (the other side of Denmark) to explore some of the areas there.

One day we found ourselves only an hours drive away from Sara so we met up with her for dinner.

It was lovely spending time with her.

It was while we were on holiday that the estate agent contacted us via mail. All the legal papers were now ready and she had sent them to us. Everything looked in order. We now had to make a decision - should we bid on the house and if so how much?!!! It was all rather exciting!!

It was while we sat and looked over the water in the picture above that Kristian and I decided we wanted to bid on the house. By now I had also fallen in love with it. So we sent the mail away to the estate agent with our biding price. We had bid £6000 under the asking price but we were willing to go to £2000 under. Now we just had to wait and see what the owners said to our bid. Oh, it was so hard to wait.

We heard nothing that day. The next morning we woke and checked our emails and phone but there were no messages for us. We went out and about and by 2.30pm we still had heard nothing. It was a Friday and we knew the estate agent was going on holiday so we really didn´t think we would hear anything that day either.

Around 3pm while Kristian and I were sitting at the beach Kristian got a message on his phone. The owner of the house wanted 2000 pounds more - if we would go along with that the house was ours. That was 4000 pounds under the asking price! We couldn´t believe it. We said YES!!! Finally, we had bought our first home. It had only taken us 28 years - but sure it´s better late than never haha

Life started to get a bit exciting for us in April of 2018.

A little background information.....

We were renting our wee apartment and in November 2016 the apartment (actually the house with 4 apartments in it) was sold to new owners. At first they were fine and we thought nothing would change, however around February 2017 they started to talk about putting the house rent up, taking away our rights to use the garage as well as my wee art studio space. They talked about making an apartment in that area so they could make more money. (We totally got that - they were business people but we were just wondering when they would do it and how much they would put our house rent up. However they didn´t seem in a rush so we decided to just wait and see what would happen)

Well way back Easter 2017 Kristian and I were out on one of our roadtrips. We were driving around in one of our favourite areas and we saw this lovely country farmhouse for sale. We thought it looked absolutely lovely. As we passed the place we saw that there was an Open House arrangement and so we decided we would just go in and check out the house, just for a laugh. We would pretend we were interested. (We actually didn´t think we could afford this type of house. It was all just for fun)

So we pulled into the driveway and went in to have a look. The first 30 seconds in that house did something to Kristian and me - we fell in love!!! It was rather funny, because after we had seen the whole place we both came out and just sat in the car. We looked a little dazed as we asked each other "what happened in there??" We soooo wanted to buy that house and we didn´t even know if we could afford it, (we needed to talk to a bank!!!)

When the Easter holidays were over Kristian rang the Bank. Long story short - they told us we could afford the house but we needed 5% of the asking price in cash as a deposit. We could not borrow 95% from the bank but the last 5% we could not borrow. Well we didn´t have that amount of money saved so we made a decision. We decided to save for the deposit and if the house was still for sale when we got near the amount needed, we would go and look into buying it more seriously.

So we started to save for our deposit for the house. In November 2017 the house was still for sale and we were getting closer to our goal. In about 6 months we should have the deposit. We decided to get my brother-in-law out to look at it. He is a carpenter and builder so he knows about houses. He would check out the place and see if it was worth us buying it, then we would know if we should really go after this house. So he came and checked it out and thought it was a good house.

Ok, so this is where my life started to get rather emotional!! Up until now it was just a dream but now that my brother in law had said it was a good house, it actually might become a reality. I started to get scared. This could get serious and we could buy our first home!!! Were we doing the right thing? Could we really afford it ? Were we crazy taking on a mortgage at our age? I needed to see what God said about it all. I needed His guidance.

One morning before going to work I was praying about all this and then I thought "God are you really interested in us getting a house? It´s all a bit silly when there are bigger things in the world to worry about." I then opened my morning reading and it was from Psalm 37 v 23 in NLT "The Lord directs the steps of the godly, He delights in every detail of their lives." It was like God had just answered my question. He delighted in these details of my life.

A few days later I was up at the beach. I sometimes go to the beach when I want to get alone with God. I had planned a whole day just me, God and my Bible. (Oh and a delicious sandwich!)

I was praying about owning our own place. I was somehow feeling very selfish about wanting my own place. We had everything we needed, did God want us to own our own house and land??

Well after I had been praying about that for a long while I decided to read my Bible. I thought about the verse I had read from Psalm 37 a few days before, about God delighting in every detail of our life. I just thought that I would read the whole Psalm.

Well as I read through the Psalm so many things spoke to me. Like v7 Be still and wait patiently for the Lord to act. (mmhh I was worrying, wondering, trying to figure out everything. Reading this calmed me inside.) Then I read v.9 which really jumped out at me...." ...but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land." I had just been praying if we should own a piece of land. It was like God answered me. I felt a peace come over me.

If this was to be ours God would work it out.

By April 2018 we had nearly saved all the money for the deposit. The house we had seen was still for sale but we decided that maybe it was wise for us to check out other houses just to see what was out there. That´s what we did. But we didn´t find any that beat the one that we were in love with.

In between checking out houses we had some friends come and visit from Ireland. We had a wonderful few days with them.

Then in May I had a birthday. Kristian had arranged a night away. He had packed a picnic and took me on one of our beloved roadtrips

He had booked an overnight stay at a lovely wee hotel in the south of Denmark.

After some good food and a good nights sleep we were on the road again and out exploring Denmark.

It was such a wonderful birthday and break away from everything.

January, February, March 2018......

January 2018 started much the same as every other year - me in my training clothes with a plan to get fit and healthy! haha

We started our Ladies Bible Study group up again and served healthy treats instead of the cake and sweets that we usually have.

Needless to say, the healthy eating phase did not last long into 2018.

In January we also spent a weekend clearing out our storage space. Our garage and hallway was just filled with a load of stuff, you couldn´t actually walk through it. We forgot to take a before picture, but believe me, it was just awful. So we started a big clearout. We felt so proud of ourselves for getting it all cleared up.

I had a few nights out with girlfriends.

One of my friends and I went to the cinema and found that we were literally the only two there to see the film. That was fun! (I can´t actually remember what the film was but I remember us thinking it was good. )

In Feburary I had a weeks holiday from work and Kristian had a few days off too. We relaxed a bit, went on a few dates and also checked out some areas of Denmark that we had never been to before. The weather had turned cold, but with the right clothes on we were still able to enjoy the nature around us.

In March I spent some time in my wee studio doing some painting. I tried painting angels instead of nature. I am not sure if I actually like them, but it was fun to try.

Happy New Year to you all. I can´t believe 2017 is already finished - it just flew by! We had a great 2017 filled with many wonderful memories. I think the highlight was our trip to Ireland, it was one of the best holidays ever and Kristian and I talk about doing it all again. (Next time Leah wants to join us, she so regrets not coming along with us last summer.)

The last few months in 2017 have been really busy but really good.

OCTOBER:
In October I had a week of work and had a wonderful time just being here at home. Some days I spent reading, other days watching films and other days I went out window shopping. One afternoon I had a trip to Ikea with my friend Audry and another day I spent with my friend Leila being creative.

I work with Leila - she is one of the Art teachers at school, so we had a fun day creating different things that we could sell at our Christmas Bazaar. We made signs, pebble art, and even tried our hands at the pottery wheel. It was sooo hard but great fun.

I even tried my hand at burning wood signs. Again it was hard but great fun.

Throughout October and November, Leila and I continued to meet every Monday after work for a few hours to make more items for our Christmas Bazaar. In the end, we had a lot of stuff to sell.

Hubby and I had a few date days in Copenhagen and out by the Coast.

NOVEMBER:
In November we had a double date night with Kristian´s sister Hanne and husband Flemming. We went out to dinner and then unto a Tribute concert for Whitney Houston. The girl singing did such a great job - she did look and sound like Whitney - well almost!

At the end of November we had our Christmas Bazaar at school. Leila and I had our stand with all our homemade signs and artwork. We were a bit worried that wouldn´t sell anything. Well, we shouldn´t have worried. We were almost sold out of everything by the end of the day. We raised 500 pounds for the school that day. We were all chuffed!

We also held Thanksgiving with our American neighbour. We had a lovely evening with them. Good food and good company always makes for a successful evening!

I had a few days off work in the middle of November. It was so great to have time to do whatever I wanted. I had a day at home, reading and relaxing and I had a day out with myself. I went on a picnic and had some long walks along the beach. It was a beautiful day and I was out from early morning until the sun went down late afternoon. It was such a great day, just me, my thoughts, prayers and God (Only 20 years till I go on the pension and I can do this every day if I want! haha)

I again had one of my delicious sandwiches with me to enjoy.

In between all of this I had Bible study with my girlfriends, we held an early Christmas with some friends, I was out biking with my old man and I also had a few cafe visits with friends - to catch up with each other's lives! :-) Sara was also home for a few days for a visit.

DECEMBER:
I LOVE December!!!

We started December with a girls night out. My mother-in-law, and two of my sister-in-laws and myself went out to dinner and then unto the cinema to see a LIVE broadcast of the Nutcracker sent from London. It was amazing. A great evening out.

I stopped work for Christmas already on 15th December. I was not complaining!! It was wonderful to have sooo much time to get ready for Christmas.

On the 16th Leah, Kristian and I had a plan. We would get up early, clean the house, then get the tree, make Christmas cookies, decorate the tree and watch our traditional Christmas film - A Christmas Vacation.

Our plan went like clockwork. We achieved everything we set out to do - now that was a Christmas miracle.

We got a lovely tree this year.

Then I had a whole week to get ready for Christmas. I went shopping one day from 10am to 6pm and got all the presents.

I had a day where I went through every cupboard and drawer in the house and sorted it out - it sure felt good. Everything was getting ready for Christmas.

One afternoon I had a visit from my friend Jette with her two kids. We had such a cosy afternoon and evening playing Ludo, opening pressies and eating food.

One afternoon I invited Kristian´s mum and sister to Christmas lunch. Leah was off work too so we made a cosy afternoon for them.

I got kidnapped by a snowman....

Less said about that the better!

I had one day were I stayed in my PJs all day long. Kristian and Leah were at work. The house was clean, the Christmas shopping done, the Christmas tree up and so I relaxed. I watched Scrooge and Miracle on 34th Street (the old black and white version) it was wonderful!

On the Thursday before Christmas my friend Anne came for lunch. Leah had to work, (she works in a Supermarket) so I thought I would drive her to work and do a little shopping while I was there.

Well, when I left the supermarket I could not find my car key! I checked at the lost and found place, I contacted Leah, I retraced all my steps but I couldn´t find it.

My friend Anne would be at my house in an hour and I was stuck at the supermarket!! haha Just as I was about to give up hope a lady came by the lost and found area and handed in my key. She had found it in the fridge amoung the Curry Herrings!! I had bought Herrings in curry for lunch and must have put my key down in the fridge!!! Honestly, I am getting old!!

Even with an awful start to the day, Anne and I had a lovely day together with loads of laughter!

Friday 22nd December Sara arrived home again. It was good to have her home.

On the 23rd Andrew, Camilla, and Lasse arrived and joined Leah, Sara, Kristian and I for a little bit of Christmas "hygge" cosiness.

We spent the afternoon making Danish treats from marzipan and nougat. Tastes soooo good.

We ate dinner together and then gave each other our Christmas gifts. It was a really cosy evening.

Andrew drove Camilla home to her mums and then came back to stay the rest of the Christmas holidays with us.

The 24th is the big celebration over here. Normally we go to Kristian´s family but this year we decided we would just stay at home. It is not often that it is just us 5 together and we were looking forward to just hanging out together.

We went to church together.

Then it was home to play a few games together.

We prepared dinner together...

The food was sooo good. We had duck and pork with caramelized potatoes and red cabbage.

Since we first exchange gifts on the 25th we just sang some carols after dinner and then saw a Christmas movie.

Christmas day we had the traditional English Christmas with gifts in the morning and far too much food in the afternoon.

It was a wonderful Christmas.

The 26th Sara and Andrew went home. Leah and I held our traditional Christmas with our neighbours Laura and Mia. We went over to their place to exchange gifts and then they came over here for Brunch. The whole day was spent in our PJs. The afternoon was spent watching a film together. Sooo cosy. Kristian enjoyed having peace to just be on his computer.

On 28th Sara´s Christian came to visit. He and Sara have sort of broken up - or are on a pause. Sara is a little confused about life and wants time to think about what she wants out of life.

We have such a good relationship with Christian and are sad about this but understand Sara too.

Christian decided to come and visit us and we had such a lovely day with him. We drove out to the Coast, had some lunch and a good long talk. We went a walk around the local harbour and then headed home for coffee and cake. We watched a film and then after some sandwiches he started the 3½ hour journey home again.

The 29th was Kristian´s mums birthday so we went and picked up Andrew and us four - Kristian, Leah, Andrew and me headed down to say Happy Birthday to his mum. She hadn´t arranged anything but lots of the family just kept popping by so we got to see some of Kristian´s brothers and sisters. That was lovely.

That evening Kristian was heading out to the forest for his annual boys night out around the campfire.

New Year was spent here at home - just the two of us, nice and quiet, just the way we like it.

We reminisced about the year that had passed and dreamed about the things we want to achieve in 2018. We ate far too much food. We saw a few chat shows and a few concerts too. All in all, a lovely evening to end the old year and start the new.

.....Cyber City - I´m back!

It´s been a while since you have heard from me. Life has been busy - full of many different activities! So here I go with a mega update of those things that I can remember.

The weather in Denmark over the last couple of months has been very Irish! Rain, rain and more rain! And I have loved every minute of it.

In August one of my colleagues went on the pension. We were so sad to see him go and so we planned a night out to say goodbye to him.

We started in the afternoon, right after work. We drove to a picnic spot by the sea and had some coffee and cake together.

From there we went to one of the Forest Parks for a ride through the forest in a horse-drawn carriage. What a great experience that was! It was so relaxing.

We then took a walk through the amusement park that was next to the forest. We had booked a table at a special restaurant there. The restaurant is a replica of one that is in an old Danish TV series. Throughout the evening actors and actresses came around and talked to us, the guests. They played the parts of people from the TV series.

The food was fantastic and the atmosphere too. By the time we were finished eating it was dark and the amusement park was lit up. It was so cosy. We then went around trying different competitions, like shooting, knocking plates off the shelf etc. It was really a fun, cosy evening. I really am blessed to have some wonderful colleagues.

Throughout the last couple of months Kristian and I had a few date nights too.

Most of the date nights happened on evenings when it wasn´t actually raining. We packed a picnic and went off to some of our favourite nature spots.

We had a wedding anniversary at the start of September - 27 years married and 28 years together! We just can´t believe we have known each other so long. We feel so blessed that we still love to hang out together even after all these years. Kristian really is my best buddy. I think I will keep him for a least another 27 years!

On our anniversary we decided to just stay at home and make a homemade meal together. Leah was also home and wanted to share the evening with us. The three of us had a cosy evening together, eating good food, talking and finally ending it all with a film.

Kristian, Leah and Sara had birthdays in September so we spent a little time celebrating them.

Then Kristian´s brother and his wife had a Silver Wedding Anniversary and so we were at a couple of parties for that. One that started at 7am!!! (Crazy Danes!) Family and friends gathered to sing wedding songs to the couple outside their house as if to wake them up. Then everyone went inside to eat breakfast.

Kristian and his brothers and sister provided the music for the singing.

A few days later (on Saturday) there was a big party for family and friends.

September has certainly been a month for celebrating!

September has also been spent doing a little bit of Artwork......

The school where I work is holding a Christmas sale this year and so my friend and I decided that we would have a stall where we would sell Pictures, Signs, Pebble art etc. We have a lot still to do but it sure is fun being creative again.

There was time spent out biking with the old people.

I tried a few new recipes too, especially ones for my Crock Pot which I got last Christmas and have hardly used.

A few Saturdays where Kristian was gone, because of a go-kart race, I used at the beach. I had a few day-long dates with God. It was so wonderful just hanging out with Him from early morning to late afternoon, just me and Him. I got so much reading, praying and studying done and each time I made myself a lovely picnic to enjoy. (I do love my food! )

A total disaster happened in September. I lost my Kindle!!! Panic - that´s like losing one of my kids! I just could not find it, I looked everywhere! Then after 4 days, I was puffing up the cushions on the sofa and when I lifted one of the cushions I saw my Kindle down the side of the sofa!!! I was so happy!

It must be what winning the Lottery feels like! haha

Sara´s Christian races cars and one day his DTC race was on TV.
For once I found myself watching car racing!!! He gave an interview at the end of the race. Strange seeing someone you know on National TV.

One of the local towns held a Culture Night and so my colleague and I went to that after work. It was a great evening.

There was Belly Dancing to see! Brave women - not something I would do!

Old cars about the town.

Loads of Music events to pop in and out off and also Art Galleries to visit. It was a great success!

I also had a few visits to the local cafe with different friends - Rhona, Audry, Line and Genny.

We had neighbour dinner night.

We had a Games Night with my friend Laura and her daughter.

We had a film night too where we saw The Shack.

I had a night in Copenhagen with some girlfriends. We went for dinner and then on to church to hear Christine Caine from Australia preach. She was fantastic!

We also had Bible Study group. One of the evenings we saw the film War Room which inspired us all to start our own War Room (or war chair or book!) It was really a great film - one I can recommend!

We had an evening out with Kristian´s sister and husband. We went to a Michael Ruff concert and had a great evening.

We also attended a Birthday party for my nieces. One turned 25 and the other 20. We got some wonderful news at the party. The one who turned 25 is expecting her first baby!! We were all so happy for her and her hubby!

So that´s my mega update for this time - Phew, it´s now time for bed!

Ireland

This year we went holidaying in Ireland. We have never been tourists there but always went there to visit Mum, Dad, and the extended family. This time would be different. This time we would be tourists!

We flew into Dublin and picked up our hired car. Then we headed South towards Wicklow to a wee place called Avoca. We would be staying there two nights in a cosy little hotel.

We arrived around 8.30pm and we were starving! Lucky for us, there was a Chip shop open and so we had the most delicious Fish and Chips down by the River. A good start to the holidays!

The next morning we were up early and ready for a day of exploring. We visited Wicklow National Park - just beautiful, drove through Sally´s Gap which we just loved! It was so wild and rugged and we ended the day in Wicklow town.

After an other good nights sleep at our wee hotel we were up and on the road again. This time we were heading further South to Killarney. We had a beautiful drive down to Killarney. We arrived at Killarney mid afternoon and as soon as I saw the town of Killarney I feel in love. It was such a lovely place and the people were so friendly - plus it had a Primark which they call Pennys!! I was over the moon!! We did a bit of shopping and exploring, had some dinner in one of the local restaurants and then headed to our Bed & Breakfast, which would be our home for the next two nights.

The next day we headed out to explore The Ring of Kerry. Oh my, we were not disappointed!! What breath taking nature!!! We totally fell in love with that area.

We ended the day with dinner in one of the local Pubs. What great atmosphere there was there. There was a family there playing music, singing and doing Irish Dancing. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.

After an other great sleep, we were up and on our way to the West Coast of Ireland, to a place called Doolin. Here we would also stay for two nights.

The hotel was wonderful.

On the afternoon that we arrived we headed down to the harbour to see the Cliffs of Moher from there. We discovered that there was a boat trip to see the Cliffs from the water and so we quickly hopped on board that. What a great experience that was.

After our boat ride, we headed to one of the local pubs for some grub. Once again the food was delicious.

Then after dinner, it was a walk up to the Cliffs of Moher. The weather was perfect!

The next day we headed towards Galway to explore in and around that area. It was just beautiful.

It was such a wonderful holiday down in the South. After our two nights in Doolin, we headed up to Belfast to spend the last few days of our holiday. We broke the long journey up to the North by stopping at lunch with some "old" friends.

We spent a day exploring the Titanic Museum, another at the Folk Park in Cultra and we had a day out with my sister-in-law which we ended at a restaurant together with my niece and nephew. It was lovely seeing them again.

I got to see my cousin Lorraine and her family which was wonderful.

Time was short and there were many people that I would have loved to have seen but unfortunately, we just couldn´t fit everyone in. Next time we will go to Belfast for a longer time.

I did, however, put a post on Facebook that we would be in Seapark one evening and those that could, could meet up with us there. I brought some snacks along. About 12 people showed up and the weather was fantastic that day. It was wonderful to see and chat with everyone again.

It was one fantastic holiday. Kristian and I loved every minute and it will not be the last time we take a holiday in Ireland. The nature was fantastic, the people were wonderful and we actually had quite good weather even though we were prepared for rain, rain and more rain!!

.....we had a busy few weeks.

June was pretty booked with different activities. Here comes a re-cap.....

At the start of June we had our yearly family day with Kristian´s family. It started at Kristian´s brother´s home with breakfast.

The weather was lovely and we were able to eat our lunch outside - picnic style. We visited the Cold War museum and spent an hour underground seeing the Head Quarters. All very interesting (mostly for the men I think!)

We ended the day with a walk and some ice cream at this beauitful place. It is always lovely to hang out with Kristian´s family.

Another big event in June was our neighbour´s daughter´s Graduation. We were all invited to her Graduation party. Once again the weather was lovely and just as well, as we were holding the party in the garden.

We helped Laura and Mia get things ready. I made a pavlova which tasted great!!!(even if I say so myself!! haha but you just never know with the things I make, they could be good, but they could also be terrible! haha)

Pernille´s 50th Birthday. (Strange how I have such old friends!! :-) Once again it was a garden party and the weather was just beautiful.

We had a lovely afternoon there.

The good weather continued and so we had a spontanous evening out with our friend´s Jette and Filip and their two kids. We went and got ice cream at this really popular place. We had to wait in line but it was soooo worth it.

I also had a quick trip to Ikea to see if they had anything new in stock. They did - so I ended up buying some new cushions covers for the living room.

We took the bed out of Andrew´s old room and made it into an office and music room. I am sooo happy with the result.

If Andrew comes to stay we just pop a mattress on the floor:-)

One of my colleagues was retiring and so we who worked closely with him, organised a surprise party for him. We decorated the school bus and went to his home and picked him up. It was then back to school for breakfast, a few speeches and a song written for him.

In the afternoon we had a party for him with all the teachers from the school. I think he had a great day. We certainly did our best to give him a good send of into the life of a pensioner.

The last weekend of June and Kristian was away on a go-kart weekend so I arranged a girls night here. Three of my girlfriends came for dinner and then we watched La La Land. We had a great night together - loads of chatter and laughter!

There was also biking with the old people, a dinner date with my friend´s Genny and Brit and a visit to the hospital to see my friend Audry who was having a hip replaced.

On 4th July we usually hold Independence Day with my friend and neighbour Laura, as she is American. This year we decided to go to a 50´s diner that Kristian had taken me to a while back. We decided though that we wanted to have a bit of fun, so we decided to dress up in 50´s clothes. What fun we had - not so our daughers!! haha

We didn´t think there would be many people at the place on a Tuesday evening at the start of July! How wrong we were!! haha It was packed! Good job we had booked a table.

Laura had invited her Canadian friend and two daughters, and also another one of our Danish friends, we had such a great night together!

So that was pretty much life before our holidays. Work was busy for both Kristian and I and so we were really looking forward to getting away on holiday. But more about that in the next post......

.....I am still alive!!!

I have been very quiet on the Blog for the last month or so. Nothing is wrong - we are all alive and well on Planet Earth! :-) Life has just had a lot of things going on and so the days have been flying by. When I did have a moment of peace and quiet, I just wanted exactly that - peace and quiet. I didn´t want to use my time updating the Blog.

Soon - very soon - I will do a mega update!! Probably at the weekend as I have a whole weekend to myself! Kristian is gone for the weekend (yes go-kart again!) and Leah is on holiday. I can´t wait to be alone!!!! I have got a lot of things planned - things like playing piano, reading, watching films, walks, loads of good food and off course - UPDATING THE BLOG :-) :-) :-)

Time is continuing to fly by!

It´s been 3 weeks since my trip to London, which means it´s been 3 weeks since I last updated!!

So let´s see what I can remember from the last few weeks.....

8th May - 14th May:

The Tuesday after I came back from London found me out with my friend Audry. We went to our favourite cafe and got caught up with each other again. I got spoiled rotten with a few lovely birthday gifts from her. We had a really lovely evening together.

Wednesday was my bike day with the old people. I always feel so good after being out on the bike.

On the Thursday evening Andrew surprised me with a visit and we had a BBQ together. He decided to stay the night as we were all of work on the Friday. It was lovely having him home again even if it was only for one night :-)

Friday morning and I had a good long sleep! When I finially woke I lay in bed reading, while hubby, who was feeling all fresh and energetic, cut the grass and sorted out his garage.

Friday evening we found a huge Tick on Zoey (our wee cat) we got it of and killed it outside on the ground. There was a huge spot of blood. Our neighbour Laura saw it and so when we woke on Saturday morning we saw this note on top of the blood. That set of a bit of craziness!!

I got myself dressed up as Inspector Rasmussen and went over and knocked her door. She got such a surprise when she opened her door. I explained I was here about a murder and had a few questions to ask her! And so the craziness continued!! We had a good laugh - but seriously there are wiser people locked up!!

Saturday, early afternoon, hubby and I decided to have a date. We went to one of the local cafes for lunch as they had a live band playing 50s music. We really enjoyed sitting eating our lunch and listening to the music.

Late afternoon Sara arrived home with her friend. They were having a girls weekend in Copenhagen but wanted to pop by us before going back home.

We had a really cosy afternoon with them. The weather was beautiful and we were able to sit outside and enjoy our Strawberry cake and coffee.

When they left I settled down to read my new book that I had bought in London. Unfortunately the weather changed, the sun disappeared and it suddenly got rather chilly. Kristian´s winter coat helped to keep the chill out.

Sunday was Mother´s Day and my neighbour and I have this tradition that we go out and buy each other a present. (We have been doing this for 3 years now as our kids are not very good at remembering Mother´s Day.) We go to the local garden centre -which is huge. We buy hot chocolate and cake and tell each other what great mothers we are! haha Then we find something we want to own. I buy Laura whatever she has found, and she buys me whatever I have found. We always have sooo much fun and this Mother´s Day was no different.

We had fun at the different displays about the place!

We always wrap the pressents to each other, even though we know what is in them!

And they have to look as ugly as possible! haha

When I arrived home from my afternoon out with Laura, Leah was home from work and had bought me a beautiful flower and was waiting to take me out to dinner. Wow!!! I was amazed! Leah is now offically my favourite child!!! haha (only joking Sara and Andrew!)

15th-21st May:

This was a quieter week, which was what I needed.

I spent some of the time reading.

I also did some drawing....

Friday Kristian left for a go-kart weekend and Leah was going out to eat with some friends, she would stay with them and then go to work on the Saturday. I was alone for 24 hours and I was sooo looking forward to it.

I went by our Butcher on the way home from work and bought some delicious salads for dinner. I then sat outside in the garden and enjoyed my dinner and did some reading.

Saturday was spent in my Studio making some art work from pebbles. I had so much fun doing these.

I then did some more drawing. The picture below was meant to be of Kristian when he was younger but it didn´t turn out like I wanted it.

I spent Saturday evening watching one of my favourite films - A house in Toscany.

22nd - 28th May:

The Monday of this week held a surprise for me. I came home from work and found a small package in my post box. It was a present from my cousin Ann. A CD called The Art of Celebration. I was sooo touched to get this CD and I just love it. It has been played non stop since I got it. Thank you soooo much Ann for this! (My favourite songs are track 9, 10, 11)

We had two days of from work this week. Thursday and Friday were holiday so it was great with only a 3 day week. I could get used to that.

Thursday my friend Pernille had invited me out as a Birthday gift. We went to Copenhagen to "My home is my slot" exhibition. It was such a great day, the weather was beautiful and we had such a lovely day hanging out together.

Friday we had Kristian´s brother, his wife and two kids come by for a BBQ. We had such a cosy evening with them.

Saturday Kristian and I decided to head out on a picnic. We headed West and found this gorgeous spot for our picnic lunch. The weather was gorgeous and we spent the day outside enjoying the sun and countryside.

London

Thursday 4th May found me, along with two sister-in-laws, four nieces and two of their friends, in Copenhagen Airport. We were heading to London for Hillsong Church Woman´s Conference.

I was soooo looking forward to it. Four days away with God, family, friends and 11000 other women who were my sisters in Christ. I was also rather excited because I was meeting up with my friend Pauline. We grew up on the same street, went to the same school and the same church. Pauline and I had been in contact on Facebook but we hadn´t actually seen each other or talked in depth for about 24 years!!! All that was about to change!

Our travels over to London went well. I got to sit between two of my nieces. We talked sooo much that the 1 hour 50 minute flight felt like 30 minutes! Everything went like clockwork and before we knew it we were at our hotel in London.

Pauline arrived a little while after the rest of us and what a joy it was to meet up with her again after all these years

We rested a little while at the hotel before heading to Wembley Arena for the opening meeting.

The meetings were fantastic!

It was wonderful to stand and sing praise songs with 11000 other women, our common bond - Jesus.

My niece had a baby 2 months ago and so she came along too. It was wonderful for us oldies in the group to get to play Granny and nurse little Malou now and then.

Friday afternoon Pauline and I headed into Covent Gardens and had lunch in this tiny little Pie Shop. The food was delicious.

After lunch we headed over to Oxford Street where we shopped a little but mostly we talked! We talked soooo much that weekend! There was 24 years worth of catching up to do!

The evening was spent at the Conference again.

All day Saturday was spent at the Conference. In between the meetings, we walked around the Outlet shops near Wembely Arena.

Sunday we slept as long as possible and checked out of our hotel room at noon. It was my Birthday and so when I came down to the lobby to hand in my key, the family had gathered and sang Happy Birthday to me, it sounded absolutely lovely in the Hotel lobby. Hanne, Pauline and I headed out to explore the area and we had one of my favourites for lunch - Subway.

It was then time to say goodbye to Pauline. It was sooo wonderful hanging out with her again. We had a brilliant weekend together (at least I did!). We talked, we prayed, we sang, we reminisced and we made new memories, but most of all we laughed - boy how we laughed. It was sooo much fun.

When I left London my heart was full. Over the weekend I had been reminded about how much God loves me, I had been reminded that I have an amazing Hubby, kids and extended family. I was also reminded about how many great friends I have that truly enrich my life . I felt sooooo blessed as I boarded the plane home. I may not have a big car, a big house and loads of money in the bank but as I travelled home I felt like the richest woman in town!

When I arrived at the airport Kristian and Leah were there to meet me with flags.

We drove home and held a quick Birthday celebration. They had gifts all set out for me to open. I got some wonderful presents from them. (Necklace, face creams, gift card)

It was late when we finally all tumbled into bed and since then till now I have felt sooo blessed but sooo exhausted!!!! :-)

Easter........

......has come and gone without me doing any updates to the blog! So here we go - lets see what I can remember of the last few weeks!! :-)

My Easter holidays started a little earlier than Leahs and Kristians.

So I decided to go on a wee roadtrip by myself. I have absolutely no problem doing things on my own - I enjoy hanging out with me! haha

(My kids think it is sooo weird when I go out to dinner, all on my own and then on to a movie - which I usually only do when Kristian is away on some trip. I have the best time, but they just cringe when they hear about it. For some weird reason Sara usually rings me when I am sitting in the Cafe. She always asks what I am doing. When I say I am at a Cafe, her next question is "who are you with?" when I say "by myself," she freaks out!! " MUM stop going to the cafe and movies alone- its weird!!" she says. haha)

So I packed a picnic and was ready to explore areas of Denmark where I hadn´t been before. I drove after signs to places I had never heard of and found some wonderful spots.

It was still a bit cold outside, so I had my picnic in the car.

I had a really great day out. In the eveing I relaxed at home with Leah and Kristian.

Tuesday morning and the view above was mine. I was at my hairdressers. I came out Silver - yes the old Silver Fox was back (although she didn´t stay around too long. The next Saturday I coloured my hair brown again!)

After the hairdressers I went into town and did a little shopping, then it was home to find Leah clearing out and organising all our wardrobes. The washing was all sorted and the house cleaned. It was wonderful! (She loves doing washing and cleaning!) We never want her to move out! haha)

On Wednesday Kristian finally had free and so we decided to go on a date. We went out to dinner and then on for a movie.

Already at dinner Kristian started to sneeze and his nose was running something terrible. He was beginning to get a cold.

The next day, Thursday we had planned a roadtrip with a picnic. Kristian wasn´t feeling the best but wanted to go anyway, so we headed north. The weather wasn´t the best either, but we wanted to eat our picnic in the car and then go for a walk along the beach in the windy weather.

However while eating our picnic Kristian could feel himself getting worse. We decided to just forget the whole thing and drive home. He had fever.

What a disappointment. We were sooo looking forward to our Easter holidays and going on roadtrips together. We had planned to go to Sweden to hear Don Moen, the Christian Worship Leader give a concert. We had also planned to go to a Good Friday Service in a church in Copenhagen together with Kristian´s sister Hanne and husband Flemming.

We did none of those things. We had to cancel everything. Kristian lay on one end of the sofa feeling sooo rotten and I lay on the other, feeling great, I was just there to keep him company.

It was a different Easter than we had planned but we still got to hang out together and enoyed that part of it. It was relaxing. I got to read a couple of books too!!

On Easter Sunday he was feeling a lot better and so we were able to get to church which was fantastic as we had missed getting to the Good Friday service.

We invited Hanne and Flemming to dinner on Sunday and had a lovely evening with them.

Easter Monday we relaxed at home and got ready for the start of another week at work.

The week after Easter, Sara was working for two days in Copenhagen so she came to stay here. We invited Andrew, Camilla and Lasse to come for dinner. Unfortunately Camilla and Lasse were working and so it ended up just being us five, which was really special. It´s not often it is just us five.

The weekend after Easter and Kristian was away in Jytland for a Go-Kart race. Leah was working and then going to a friends birthday so I was on my own again, this time though, I had invited a bunch of girl friends for Ladies Night.

I enjoyed getting everything ready on the Saturday. It was all so easy going and relaxing. I baked bread, cheesecake and chocolate cake. I got pressies ready for the games we would play and got the house ready too, all without any stress.

Ten Ladies turned up and we had such a fun night. We played some games and then we tried on all the clothes that my friend Kirsten had brought from her shop. It was chaos, but good chaos, as we girls ran around trying this and that on - we were ohhing and ahhhing at everything. It was great fun!

Those that wanted to buy did and then we stuffed ourselves with bread and cake. We then sat around talking to rather late! A really great evening.

When everyone left, it was lovely to have this wee fury friend to go to bed with.

Other things that have happened over the last few weeks....Ummmhhh - we had our Bible Study group here and I made the most delicious dessert to serve with coffee/tea!

There has been a few bike rides with the old people. Lovely weather too!

There was also time for a trip to McDonalds with my friend Jette and her two kids. The kids enjoyed playing in the playground and we enjoyed catching up with each other.

We also fitted in a "Neighbour Night Dinner"- the neighbours came by, each with something to contribute to dinner. It was really delicious food and great company.

On Saturday Kristian was gone again to the Go-Kart track. I decided to change the house around a bit. My piano has been in our bedroom as there isn´t really room for it in the living room. But I decided to just move it to the living room anyway, maybe I would play it more if it was out there.

So that´s what I did on Saturday. I turned the bed around and transformed the bedroom. I got the piano moved out into the livingroom/dining room (all by myself too - who needs a man?!!) and I actually spent time playing it!

This evening Kristian invited me out on a date. We went to one of the local Cafés and had a wonderful meal and loads of time to talk. It was great to spend time with hubby as we haven´t seen too much of each other over the last few days.

We ended the evening with Ice-cream!! Yummie - it was good!

(Kristian had the big ice cream - honest!! When he heard I was buying, he went all out! hahaha)

....and well.

I just haven´t been on here for a while.

Plenty has been happening in the Rasmussen household so let me fill you in.

Hubby and I have been on a few dates. We continue to try and keep the romantic side of our marriage alive.

One Saturday Kristian invited me out to a special place called Sallys. We went a drive first, did a little shopping and ended the afternoon at Sallys, which is an American dinner with a motel just beside it. It was absolutely wonderful. It was like going back in time and the food was delicious. (Now I know where I want to hold my 50th birthday!!)

On another weekend we had a roadtrip and explored again, some areas of Denmark that we had not seen before. We ended the afternoon in this lovely Indian Restaurant, and had the most delicious food then went to the movies and saw Beauty and the Beast.

I got to hang out with some of my wonderful friends. One afternoon was spent in Ikea with my friend Audry. We shopped, we dreamed and we ate McDonalds!

Another day I got to hang out with my good friend Rhona. We went to one of my favourite cafes for a Brunch Buffet. We ate till we were about to burst! We talked an awful lot too and it was just wonderful to catch up with each other again. Before we knew it, 3 hours had gone by.

I had my first bike ride of the year. The weather turned mild and so I just had to get out on my bike again and explore the country side. It felt good.

Sara came to visit twice. She was working a few days in Copenhagen and so it was lovely to have her home again.

A few days after she went home her Christian came to stay. He was attending some meeting over in Copenhagen so he came for dinner and stayed the night. It was great seeing him again too.

We visited Andrew and Camilla. Andrew grilled the best burgers for us all and we had a cosy evening watching X-factor.

We started a home Bible study group and had our first meeting. I am sooo looking forward to studying all sorts of different themes and Bible passages together with them.

One Sunday Kristian´s mum invited us for lunch. We had a lovely afternoon with her. The weather was beautiful and we were able to spend the afternoon out on her balcony drinking in the sun.

Last Saturday evening Kristian was out for the evening and so I invited a few of my girlfriends over for a Girly night. It was a PJs party so everyone had to come in their Pyjamas. The theme of the evening was Italy, so I ordered pizzas from our local Italian restaurant. I made a huge salad and some coleslaw. We sat and enjoyed dinner together in our PJs over a lot of silliness, chatting and laughing.

After dinner we took some time to do facials. We sure felt good by the end of that.

Then we ended the evening by watching the film - Only You which is set in Italy. We had a really great evening together and once again I was reminded about how blessed I am to have so many wonderful friends in my life.

At work we have been renovating the classrooms. We finally finished the last one - a third grade classroom. The kids were sooo appreciative for what we had done that they invited us all to pancakes and juice. They held speeches for us and the girls from the class preformed a dance. Then the leaders of our school invited us all for a delicious lunch.

I also got a little art work fitted in.....

I usually draw portraits by following some lessons. This time I decided to try and draw a picture of myself from a photo. No one to follow, just the photo. It was really rather hard, so much easier to follow a lesson but it sure was fun to do. It´s not the best but I just will have to keep practicing.

One afternoon after work, I went to visit an Art Exhibition with my friend Leila. We had a great afternoon together and we both got very inspired to go home and do some art.

Kristian and I also went to a concert held over at the local farm. We were not sure what to expect, if it would be our type of music or not, but we wanted to support the local community. Well we were not at all disappointed. It was such a great evening. The guy had a great voice, he sang some really deep songs with great words and told some really funny stories between his songs. We were so glad we had gone.

So that is basically everything that we have been up to over the last few weeks. Now it´s holiday time again. I have stopped work for Easter. Kristian still has a few more days to work but then we both can have a few days holiday together, something I am really looking forward to.

Dates Galore.....

So our weeks holiday ended and Leah got sick.

She started to feel sick while getting ready for bed Sunday evening, but thought she was just tired, and so quickly got into bed so she could fall asleep. A few hours later she was up vomiting and with diarrhea. I felt so sorry for her. She was soooo sick. We thought it would be a 24 hour bug but it lasted a whole week!! She had vomitting and diarrhea until Wednesday morning, then she stopped vomiting but still had diarrhea and nausea until the Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon she was feeling a lot better but it sure took a lot out of her.

Over the last few weeks, once again, a lot has been happening. Here are some highlights.....

A night in Copenhagen at a Ladies night. It was a 2 hour talk about making peace with your body. My old neighbour had invited me along and I thought it would be fun. I met her after work and we had a quick bit to eat before heading to the talk. It was very interesting and it was really great to get to hang out with my old neighbour again.

Wondeful, wonderful Copenhagen!!!

There was a 40th Birthday party for my colleague. It was held in this cosy restaurant which I just adored. The food was also really great! We had a lovely afternoon lunch with her and her family.

Then we had a birthday here for our neighbour Mia. She turned 19. Since our dining area is bigger than our neighbours, we held the party here. We had a great evening together with her and her friends.

Her mum made all the food and the most delicious chocolate cake for dessert!

Then there was an evening out with a friend from work. We went out to dinner. It was great to have a few hours to chat together instead of just a few minutes during breaktime at work. We had such a great evening out. After dinner we went to the movies and saw La La Land. What a brilliant movie!! We both loved it.

The music was fantastic and the story too. If you love musicals go see it. I even had a wee cry at the end. As soon as I got to the car I had the music downloaded and I was listening to it all the way home. (I am driving Kristian crazy playing the music all the time! haha) I hope I can squeeze in another visit to see it - and soon!

Kristian and I had a date night too. Since it was such a beautiful evening, we went for a quick walk, then headed to a restaurant we had never been to before. to try out their Buffet. It was absolutely delicious! Great food at a great price! It will not be the last time we go there.

After dinner we saw the film - A United Kingdom. We didn´t know too much about the storyline, just that it was based on a true story and that it was a love story. Oh my, what a story that was!! We just loved the film.

I also used some time to decorate a mirror that hangs in our closet. I have been doing a Bible study about what God says about me. What is my identity in Jesus and so I thought I would write some of the things that God says about me on the mirror.

So many times we can believe the lies that Satan tells us instead of the truth that God tells us. It´s sooo important to know these truths.

I saw this idea about putting them on a mirror and thought it was great! Instead of just seeing me in the morning, I can see, and remind myself of some of the truths that God says about me and about my life.

I put at the top of the mirror "MY DADDY SAYS..." (then the truths) that He will never leave me...that I am not condemned... That I am the apple of his eye...That I should not worry about anything but talk to him about everything...That I am precious... That I am his child....That I am forgiven....That I can find refuge under his wings....That I am totally forgiven....That he loves me.... That nothing will seperate me from his love....That I belong to him. That I can come boldly before him....That I am his friend....and the list could go on.

.....last Monday afternoon my man came back home to me from Italy.

It had been a successful trip for him. He had gotten the go-karts that he needed for his customers and he had also had time to see some go-kart racing. So he was a happy man!! He had driven through the night, so by the time he got home he was a wee bit exhausted. It was an early night for him - already at 8pm he was in the land of Nod. It was great to have him home again.

Wednesday I was up early even though I was starting work a little later that day. I decided to make the most of my morning and went for a short walk in the forest. It was a beautiful morning and I enjoyed the nature that surrounded me.

Thursday afternoon we had a snow storm. I was loving it, it was just sooo cosy. After dinner Kristian and I headed out into the storm. (I know we were crazy!) We were going to our local Library as they had a special evening planned - "Bedtime stories for Adults." I had been soooo looking forward to this, and I couldn´t believe that Kristian wanted to come along with me to hear a bedtime story read aloud! So no snow storm was going to keep me away from this! haha

We were 10 adults all seated on comfy chairs, with our pillows and blankets. The Library served coffee, tea and chocolate. At 7.30pm the reading began. There was time for 5 short stories, each about 15 - 20 minutes long. In between each story we could go get a little more tea, coffee or chocolate. There were different types of stories, some thought provoking, some funny, some a little scary and there was also a Fairytale by Hans Christian Anderson. It was a brilliant experience. Even Kristian loved it! We totally relaxed and by the end of the evening we were soooo ready for bed.

The two women that took turns to read had fantastic voices. They had a real talent for reading and making the story come alive.

We met some of our friends there so it was good to experience this with them. This will not be the last time we go to one of these evenings!

When we came home we went straight to bed.

Friday was a beautiful day. I enjoyed seeing the snow against a clear blue sky.

It wasn´t only beautiful outside, inside our school the children had painted mosaic windows and the colours were just fantastic, reflecting on the floor and walls.

On Friday there was an incident at school that just made my day.
It was Fastelavn - a bit like Halloween and all the kids were dressed up. I decided to put on a blonde wig and join in the fun. I looked awful, but that was the whole idea.

One of the little girls started talking to me about my real hair. She asked if my real hair had always been dark. I said "Yes - but now because I am so old my hair is all grey." Well to this a little boy behind her said " Laura you are not old, I think you look 27!!" That little boy made my day!! haha

Friday evening we went to the local get-together in our village.Those from the village that are interested, gather together at the Farm and eat Gullasch. On Friday we were about 50 people. The food was delicious.

We always have a sing along. Those that can play instruments make a band and the rest of us sing along. It was another cosy evening there.

The weekend also passed quickly. It was spent cleaning, reading, relaxing, and going on a date with hubby. He had invited me out to dinner on Saturday evening. Even though we had hung out during the week, we were never alone so we hadn´t had a chance to really talk, we got that chance on Saturday evening when we went to a cosy cafe and had a 3 course meal. Loads of time to talk.

A lovely break......

I had a lovely break from work and every day life.

On the Tuesday of my holiday week, Kristian had off too, so we decided to spend the day today. We had gotten a gift card for Brunch at one of our local cafes, so we decided to start the day by going to the cafe to use it. We were not disappointed in what was served up for us!! It was delicious!

After getting our bellys filled, we went on a mini roadtrip and explored different areas. It was a beautiful day.

Late afternoon we headed home again. We picked up some food from one of the local restaurants and took it home. We sat on the sofa, ate our dinner and watched TV. The perfect ending to a great day!

On the Wednesday, Kristian was back at work again and I was home. I had to look after our neighbour´s cats while they were away on holiday. Well what a morning I had!! They have a door that is not the easiest to lock! You have to lift the handle up and turn the key - well I just could not get that door to lock. I opened and closed that door about 5 times and could just not get the key to turn. Finally on the 6th attempt the key turned and when I took it out of the lock I only had half a key!!!! HELP!!! What a disaster!!! The door was still unlocked! I couldn´t leave it - I was stressed!! haha After a few phone calls and a bit of waiting around, the whole thing got sorted. Our neighbour now had a new lock and a door that I could easily get in and out of to feed the cats!!

I had planned to go to Copenhagen that day but by the time I got everything sorted out it was after 11am and I was exhausted!!! hahaha SERIOUSLY!!!

I decided I was not in the mood for a trip to the big city and so just spent the rest of the day relaxing at home watching TV. I read too, started a drawing (which was a mess - still working on it) and got a few things sorted out in my painting room.

Then in the evening I had dinner with my friend Audry in one of our local cafes. It was good to see her again.

On the Thursday of my holiday week, I drove Leah to work and then went to visit Kristian´s mum. She still has trouble with her back and so I said I would come visit and clean for her. I told her to give me whatever job she wanted. She gave me the bathroom. She really wanted to start some Spring cleaning and so I cleaned that bathroom from top to toe!! I love doing things like that. A couple of hours later and I was finished. We ate lunch together and then I headed home again.

Meanwhile Kristian was off work and getting ready for a long journey. He was driving to Italy to collect go-karts for his go-kart shop. He would be gone until Monday.

Friday was spent getting my own house cleaned and then my friend Laura and I went to the movies. We saw the film LION. Oh my, what a film!! I cried my eyes out. By the time I got home from the movies I had such a sore head. Laura stayed the night here in our spare room. It´s fun with a spontaneous sleepover.

Saturday, early afternoon, Leah, Lasse and I went out shopping in one of the towns close by. Leah and Lasse then headed for the cinema and I headed home to make some food for myself and enjoy some alone time. It was good!

Sunday was church then an afternoon spent reading. Sunday evening Laura came over and we watched a service sent LIVE from Whitewell Church in Ireland. It was their 60th anniversary and I enjoyed having church in my own wee norn iron accent. Laura had trouble understanding half of what they said. haha My friend from school - Alex was singing at the meeting so it was great to hear his powerful voice. Unfortunately we only saw half of it as our interenet started to play up - it kept freezing. We ended the evening by putting on a DVD with Bible teaching. It was good stuff! :-)

Monday it was back to porridge again! All in all though, it was a really good, relaxing holiday!

I got to play Granny.....

So last weekend I got to play Granny. We had asked our friends Jette and Filip if we could borrow their kids for a few hours to take them a trip to Copenhagen for some fun. They were more than happy for us to look after them for a while.

So we left early Saturday morning and headed into Build a Bear in Copenhagen. What a blast we had in there! (Or maybe I should say I had a blast! haha) Well the kids enjoyed it too, Kristian was the only one who kept rolling his eyes at me! haha

Josefine had been saving her pocket money for a Bear and so she was able to buy an Elsa Bear! She was over the moon.

After that we headed to Toys R Us so Jonathan could look at some boy things.

Kristian and Jonathan headed to the boy`s section while Josefine and I went exploring in the girl`s section. I had promised to buy them each something from Toys R Us. However they couldn´t find anything they liked so I suggested (to Kristian´s disgust) that we head over to Ikea.

Well it was sooo hilarious to see how the kids reacted - they got soooo excited. (Kristian on the other hand didn´t!)

Kristian said he would go to the electronic store as he was not putting a foot in Ikea. (All the stores are situated in the same complex.) So away he went to his shop and I went with the two kids to mine.

As we walked over to Ikea Jonathan turned to me and said "Laura, why does Krisitan want to go to such a boring shop! Ikea is much more fun." He is my kinda kid!! haha

It was sooo much fun being in Ikea with those two, they literally got sooo excited to be there, and Jonathan was showing me loads of things that he thought was great. He kept saying "I love Ikea, don´t you Laura! " haha

The highlight for them was going down into the plant section. So I ended up buying them not a toy each, but two plants and pot holders for them. They were soooo happy with their presents.

Kristian was finished long before us so he came and joined us in Ikea and couldn´t believe how excited the kids were to be there! haha

We had a blast! We ended the outing with a trip to McDonalds for lunch. It was then home to their mum and dad for dessert - apple crumble and cream. A perfect way to end the day.

It was such a fun day out and I enjoyed playing Granny sooo much. The kids were a pleasure to have and it was wonderful to have two chatterboxes in the car again!

On Wedensday we went to a concert - a Bryan Adam`s concert. We had bought tickets together with a couple of our friends Mette and Klaus. Mette works right in the centre of Copenhagen so we met up at her work before the concert and ordered pizzas for dinner.

The concert was brilliant. Bryan never fails to deliver a fantastic concert!!

There was a lot of snow that evening so we had to drive rather slowly the whole way home - but Copenhagen was sooo beautiful covered in a blanket of snow.

I got another drawing done during the week. My first attempt at drawing from a photo and not from a lesson on Youtube. It is mean´t to be me as a baby but the mouth isn´t totally right and the eyes too. Wish I knew what I was doing! haha

On Saturday Kristian and I had a date day planned. We got up early and headed out. It was such a beautiful day and so we went on a Roadtrip around places we hadn´t really explored before. We had such a lovely day out.

I now have a week off work. Today was my first holiday day and I just loved being able to do whatever I felt like!

I decided to spoil myself today. I went to our local Butcher and bought myself one of his delcious sandwiches. Then I headed to the Bakery for a cream bun and a tin of coke! I came home and got ready for some true Danish Hygge (cosiness)!!

I spent the morning reading, then I enjoyed my lovely lunch and finally I spent the afternoon drawing.

This was my first attempt at drawing with colour pencils. It was sooo hard but sooo much fun.

This evening Laura and I headed to the movies. We went to see Hidden Figures. What a great movie, I can totally recommend going to see it!

A new month - already?!!!

I can´t quite believe that it´s 1st February already! January seemed to go by so quickly, (although on the financial side, it went slow! From about the 10th January I was looking forward to pay day, I thought it would NEVER come!!)

We had a busy January.

We got a little snow - but it didn´t stay long:-(

I had a few nights out with a few different friends. The first night out was with an old neighbour. We had dinner together at an Italian restaurant and then went to see the new Will Smith film - it was rather special, but I liked it (we both had a wee cry in the cinema!) We had such a lovely evening together.

Another night out on the town was with my friend Audry. Guess where we went? Yes, Ikea - our favourite place!

There was the Sewing Club one Thursday, there were bike rides with the old people.

I also had to work late one day and when I went to bed I looked at my step counter to see how much I had walked. I had managed to walk over 14km!!! That explained why I was sooo tired!! Needless to say, I slept like a baby that night! :-)

Off course I had to have a few dates with hubby in January too - we have got to keep the romance alive in 2017!!

One date night was out at the movies. Another was out in the forest and back home to homemade chocolate fudge cake, hot out of the oven with ice cream!! It was delicious!

We also went to visit a town in the South of Denmark. We hadn´t been there for years, so we took a Saturday to go and explore the place. We had lunch in a lovely Italian restaurant (Hhhhmmmm I seem to have a thing for Italian restaurants! Should I be living in Italy instead of Denmark?!)

We loved walking about the place seeing the old buildings and just hanging out together.

We ended the day by going to see Kristian´s brother Peter and his wife and kids. They had just moved into their new home that they had specially built! We wanted to check the place out - it was gorgeous! We brought cake along and they made coffee/tea and we had a lovely couple of hours with them before heading home.

Last weekend I spent with Kristian´s sister Hanne. We went to a Bible Conference in one of the churches in Copenhagen. It started on Friday evening and ended Saturday evening. Since Hanne lives in Copenhagen I went down to her after work on Friday. We took the bus into the meeting and then I went home and stayed at her place. We had a lovely weekend not only together, but with alot of other Christians.

Kristian came and picked me up from Hannes on Saturday evening.

I also started drawing again - and not just in my Bible journalling. My friend at work is one of the Art teachers and she challenged me to start drawing again, she also inspired me with her own drawings - so I did it. It has been sooo much fun (and rather relaxing!) to sit and draw in these dark winter evening.

Yesterday (31st March) I stopped work early. I was going to Copenhagen to meet my friend Genny. She had received a gift card for a facial in one of Copenhagen´s oldest massage clinics and she wanted to take me along to enjoy the gift with her.

What an experience that was!!! WOW 1 hour of cleansing, scrubs, creams, head massage, neck massage, face massage, steam, hot towels - wow I felt like a million dollars after it all.

We then went out to dinner to chat and catch up with each other.

Earlier in the day, just before I left work, Sara rang me to say hello. She told me she was on her way to Copenhagen with work. She was going to a Conference and was staying in one of the hotels close to where the Conference was. I told her I was on my way to Copenhagen too so we arranged to meet for tea/coffee later in the evening after her meetings and my dinner with Genny.

By 8pm her meetings were finished and we were able to meet. It was soooo lovely to see her walking along the train station towards me, and even though we only had 1½ together, it was sooo good.

Even though January treated us pretty good, we did get some sad news near the end of the month.

Some friends from Ireland had sad news, their father died. (It´s at times like these that being miles apart is hard.)

Billy was a really lovely man. I knew him from our church. He was always such a gentleman, always had a smile on his face and he was so easy to talk to. He loved Jesus so I know where he is today, (I like to think that my mum and dad were there to greet him at the gates of Heaven.) I know he wouldn´t swap places, but for those left behind it is hard and I feel for his wife and our friends - his children. They have to learn to go on without him and that is not easy. One thing is for sure - they have many precious memories.

Another year started!

And the first week of the New Year over.

Friday 30th December we got together with our neighbour Laura and Mia along with some of our other neighbour friends, Pernille and Thomas, from down the road. We were going to eat dinner together and catch up with each other. We went to Pernille and Thomas´s house where they had a delicious main course ready for us. I brought the salad and Laura brought the rice. We had such a cosy evening all together.

New Year was quiet for us - just the way we like it.

On the morning of the 31st October we were up early. We were going to our friend Klaus´s 50th Birthday Brunch. We had such a lovely morning and early afternoon with Klaus, his wife Mette and their families. We were home by 3pm. Leah was working until 3pm then she came home and got ready to go her friends. She was celebrating New Year with her.

Kristian and I were looking forward to a quiet New Years Eve - just the two of us. We made dinner together and then ate in front of the TV. The food was sooo good and we ate too much.

We watched a George Michael concert from Paris and a Phil Collins concert from Paris. We talked about the year that had passed and made plans for the New Year to come. It was just perfect hanging out with my best friend on the sofa.

On the 1st January we finally got the Christmas decorations down and the tree thrown out. That was it all over for another year. But it sure was a good Christmas.

On the 2nd January Kristian was back at work again. I still had one more day off, however I had been invited to a 60th Birthday Brunch. My boss was turning 60 and so my colleagues and I were heading over to his home to celebrate.

We had the most delicious brunch. I got dressed up and did a bit of entertaining with a song for his birthday. Unfortunately I don´t have a picture of the lovely lady that came and sang for him! We had a lovely day together.

Tuesday I was back at work again - it was soooo hard getting up early again

On Wednesday I was busy preparing for yet another birthday. It was my colleagues 40th birthday and so I stayed a while after work to decorate the place, and write a song for her. I then went to town to find presents from us all. I got home a bit late that evening!

On Thursday we gave my colleague a great day at work. She really enjoyed her day. At our breaktime another strange woman turned up to sing for her and give everyone a laugh. It felt good to make someones day special.

Now it´s Friday and it´s weekend!! I am sooo in need of this weekend. It´s hard starting a New Year and starting back to work too!! haha

Andrew arrived home this afternoon with Kristian. He has come to stay for the weekend. It´s sooo lovely having him home for a while. We had a lovely dinner together before settling down to watch X-factor together as a family. (The only one missing was Sara! ) It was fun being us 4 again.

Then Kristian and him got on the playstation and started to play FIFA!! Leah and I left the room!! Those boys will be boys!!
