Shortly after getting my TV service set up at the new apartment I discovered I didn’t get The Outdoor Channel. A quick call to Comcast confirmed I could get the channel, but only in a package with other sports channels for $17 a month. I politely refused and insisted that I only wanted the one channel. After being informed yet again that the only way to get the channel was in a package with others and there being no way to get it ala carte, I informed the CS rep that I wasn’t interested.

Why oh why, in the age of computer based everything, can I still not get the one channel I really wanted without getting a crap load of other channels I couldn’t give a rats ass about? I mean, “Madge” isn’t working down the street any more, manually plugging and un-plugging wires in a switchboard to connect my call, and copper wires have (for the most part) given way to fiber optics. Come on now, get with the program! It seems to me, that Comcast would stand to make more money if they gave their customers a little more choice in what channels they get, instead of trying to ram a programming package down our throats!

Color me distinctly, UNIMPRESSED!

Okay, here’s the deal.

I need to get some extra money coming in. The kids and I are in our own apartment now, and while that is a great thing, it brings with it a lot of extra financial costs. I’m not begging for money, though if you do want to donate, I wont stop you (you may send PayPal donations to me at paulgrant@gmail.com).

I have been working on an Urban Fantasy novel over the last year or so and am currently up to about 13 chapters. What I propose is this, I have decided to serialize the book for $1 a chapter, with the first one presented for free so you can sample it. Off to the right under Pages is a link called “Nothing” (the title of the novel) and if you click it, it will take you to a page where you can download the first chapter for free. As soon as I can manage it, I will be putting up the rest of what I have done for sale at the previously mentioned $1 per chapter.

Once the book has been completed, a single file of the whole book will be available, but at the same price as if it had been purchased a chapter at a time. This seems only fair to me. Also, if you are a loyal reader and have purchased each chapter as I release it, you will have the opportunity to purchase an autographed hard-copy version of the book at my cost.

That’s a heck of a deal!

As far as the content of the book is concerned, it contains sex, violence, strong language and even a touch of blasphemy. In addition, it contains gun play, swords, magic and lots of blood and gore. If this turns you off, fair enough, you don’t have to buy it. You might want to give the free chapter a try though, just to make sure it’s not for you. If however this sounds like something you’d like to read, I’d recommend you also download the sample chapter, and give it a read…and purchase the other chapters as they become available.

See? Something for everybody!

So go on and give it a try. I’ll get the rest of the chapters up as soon as I can find some spare time, hopefully before the end of the week.

Yousef al-Khattab, 41, a radical Muslim in the borough of Queens who runs RevolutionMuslim.com, claims on the site that the soldiers massacred at the Texas base deserved to be massacred, and he insists the victims are in “eternal hellfire.” As for the suspected gunman — Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan — Al-Khattab hails him as a hero.

“An officer and a gentleman was injured while partaking in a pre-emptive attack,” al-Khattab wrote on the site. “Get well soon Major Nidal. We love you.”

Al-Khattab, a Jewish-born New Jersey native formerly named Joseph Cohen, converted to Islam in 2004. Known by the FBI for posting radical messages online, al-Khattab claims that the 13 murdered and 38 wounded soldiers at Fort Hood were “terrorists” who deserved to die.

“These people are soldiers in a volunteer army,” al-Khattab told the Post. “They expect to see combat. They know the danger.”

“Rest assured the slain terrorists at Ft. Hood are in the eternal hellfire,” al-Khattab writes online.
