What I find the most amusing, is that the by far biggest impact of CO2 man-made emissions is NEVER mentioned

It being plant growth.

In the last 50 years the planet has greened between a 25 and a 50%, which is HUGE. (70% of that greening due to CO2 and the rest to reforestation policies, better fertilizers etc etc)

Not to mention the practical eradication of famines...

Look, this has obviously nothing to do with the cash itself. If I couldn't make lots of cash to be materially OK, I wouldn't have left the leftist filthy U.S. Academia, among other things.

This is about the costs and benefits of this particular activity and about the power. Every other morning, I had to deal with comments by nasty moronic anonymous scum such as yourself - and every week, I had to deal with similar anonymous leftist filth from the Silicon Valley that harassed me because of their access to moderation and harassment tools of Google and other platforms. And one vastly worse thing of the same kind has happened to me once, insiders know very well what I mean. Every possible piece of infrastructure that should have helped me to propagate the wisdom and the truth was doing the opposite, systematically reducing my already small influence and spreading lies instead. I am not a masochist to the extent to enjoy such things. Also, this pressure unavoidably leads people (probably including me) to comply and modify or censor the content to avoid the unpleasant things. I would never go in this direction because it completely contradicts my integrity. I would never agree to become a writer of things certified to be clean by scum that lies about everything and that I despise.

If you think that valuable ideas are supposed to be served for free, you are a commie who has no idea about the functioning of a healthy society, and who has never seen and distinguished a valuable idea from complete trash. All bloggers who were willing to indefinitely serve their thoughts for free were losers and crackpot egomaniacs who have never succeeded in selling their ideas because they didn't have any good ones. I am not one of them, I was actually serving content that had value and should have been appropriately compensated, like I have always been used to. My obsession with conveying ideas for the sake of it is non-existent. If something doesn't work, it should be modified or abandoned. Concerning meaningful physics-powered blogging, we converged to the latter. No one else in the world does anything of the sort, either. In this idiocracy, high IQ blogging of the scientific type doesn't work. Period.

Even if I were a commie volunteer who wants to do things for free, and of course I've fitted that description more than 99.9% of the people, it has its limits and it simply has to have its limits. I no longer believe it is meaningful to try to educate the public with these tools, it is a lost cause, and I have fully surrendered to the fact that idiocy has won and a great majority of the public prefers to swim in manure.

Also, within occupations that have been considered intellectual, it is no longer the case that the high IQ people are those who make the money. Universities, media... have been hijacked by worthless mediocre scum like you that only protects other parts of the scum by lies+censorship+corruption of every due process that should have served a positive function, that has never created a valuable idea, and has no ability to do so in the future. All actually intelligent people who just point this fact out are being fought against by scum like you. Similarly, the would-be cutting edge tech business has been hijacked by worthless or nearly worthless projects led by mediocre people with contacts to their equally mediocre morons in the media who hype them.

Even after I removed the website with blog post from the Internet, I am still getting some unpleasant interactions, like this one from you. I have obviously banned you and closed this thread but I am afraid that even with these steps, I am not safe enough. Can't you tell the rest of the braindead activists like you that you should stop this insane harassment? You have no right to command me and dictate what I write and whether I write something at all. You apparently have no idea what bothers me at all because your peabrain is utterly insufficient for that. So why don't you shut your šitty mouth up?

Dear Lupus, I got responses like yours from about 100 readers, so I was reminded of all the names I've mostly known, at least a little bit.

I have abolished the blog because I just didn't know how to deal with the open terror against my writing any longer. The requests for censorship could have been only solved by compliance of some sort and I would become a collaborator with nasty people whom I despise and whom I want to be dead, and this is simply not an alternative.

We live in a new global totalitarian society controlled by filth of mankind and I don't want this cruel basic fact to be obfuscated in any way.

Roughly but I can't say anything useful beyond that. As far as I know, the claim that the information should be assigned to the *stretched* horizon is just a hypothesis, one possible way to refine holography that hasn't really been sufficiently justified.

That is, the horizon "contains" information about all possible semiclassical geometries and configurations of matter that can be in a three-dimensional spatial region, the size of a causal patch?

Holography only produces a "conformal" QFT on the boundary in the AdS-like spaces because the boundary itself has infinite proper distances which are self-similar. But holography, if it makes sense for finite-area boundaries at all, almost certainly produces non-conformal theories on the boundaries if this description is the same.

But the logic should be the same. For a de Sitter space, the exterior of the visible patch acts like the interior of a black hole, the degrees of freedom are carried on the boundary in both cases. A geometric difference is that the dS interior is compact, and a radiation only enters this interior for a finite time, and then is reabsorbed by the exterior which plays the same role as the interior of the black hole.

In the black hole case, the analogy of the de Sitter interior is the black hole exterior, and that's where you leave forever. That is why the de Sitter space may be static, despite the nonzero Hawking temperature. By geometry, the Hawking quanta are guaranteed to be reabsorbed.

The concept of horizon complementarity is an extension of the concept of black hole complementarity for the cosmological case. According to this approach, this observer can use quantum mechanics to describe only the region of space causally related to it and cannot say anything about what lies beyond the cosmological horizon, even in principle. It is also noted that all information about other regions lying beyond the cosmological horizon is encoded on the horizon itself in the same way as information about the entropy of a black hole is encoded on its event horizon.

How to understand this correctly? I have some ideas. Since the horizon in this case is a certain plane, which, according to holography, can be described by conformal quantum field theory, it means that it is in a superposition of all possible states of all quantum fields, and each such state describes whatever semiclassical geometry and configuration of matter inside the three-dimensional region of the horizon. That is, knowing the state of these fields and the probability amplitudes, it is possible to calculate the probabilities of which configurations of matter correspond to the regions beyond the horizon. If we turn to Hawking's approach about black holes, in which, to determine the entropy of a black hole, the event horizon was divided into a set of Planck squares, each of which corresponded to one bit of information (0 or 1), then with the same division of the cosmological horizon, each Planck square would meet not just a bit, but a qubit (superposition 0 and 1).

I’m sad and I’ll miss the blog but I understand your choice. On the bright side, you won’t have to deal with obnoxious commenters as frequently as you have in the past. Dear Ralph, I own both a coconut oil and olive oil. ;-) More seriously, the financial flows related to the blog were about zero even in the recent 5 years but it was getting even worse. It just didn't add up.

Concerning Russian assets, I don't plan to buy them, and even the <1% exposure to Russia that I have seems too much to me. It's being blocked and is in other problems but it is really the expected future policies that I find extremely bad for the Russian economy and especially its owners. It's on the path to become a Leninist or North-Korean-style centrally planned economy. It just doesn't work well, especially not for the capitalists. Someone in Russia should better fix it very soon because decades of decline are otherwise unavoidable.

The price of oil wells seems too chaotic and unpredictable to me now.

For 18 years, I have been improving my Ansatz with "I can still withstand this or that, by approaching it so or otherwise" but this just stopped working now. I see no realistic way to continue.
