Yellow Retrievers love to be included in family activities, which includes take rides in the car and traveling. They love attention, and love for you to treat them just like they are a member of your family. When you first get your Yellow Retriever puppy, youíll have to teach him how to enjoy car rides and traveling, so he can come to appreciate it more as he gets older.

When you decide to take him traveling for the first time, you should always give him food in small amounts throughout the day, while he adjusts to traveling. If you feed him a lot of food before you head out, he may get sick in the car and have an accident. By reducing the amount of food that he consumes, heíll be much more in control of his bladder and himself.

When you are traveling, always plan to make frequent rest stops and allow your Yellow Retriever time to relieve himself. You should also take some time to exercise as well, stopping every few hours for bathroom breaks and exercise. Yellow Retrievers will hold themselves if they need to, although it isnít good for them. No matter how far you travel, you should always be kind to your dog and stop every so often to let him have some time.

A common mistake that many have made, and one you should avoid at all costs, is letting your Yellow ride in a moving vehicle with his head out the window. Although you may think this is a good idea, your Yellow can easily get an eye, ear, or nose injury. Cars and trucks move at very fast speeds, and something can pop up when you least expect it and do serious damage to your dog.

When you stop for a break or to fill up your car, you should never allow your Yellow Retriever to be alone in the car with the windows up. Even though you may crack the windows for him, the heat of summer can result in a heat stroke if you are not careful. If your dog does get a heatstroke from being locked up in a hot car, he can easily die before you are able to return to the car. If you simply must leave your dog in the car, make sure that you park in the shade and give him plenty of air.

As long as you do your part and take care of your Yellow Retriever when you travel, he will love to travel with you. Traveling is something that your Yellow needs to get used to, although most adapt to it fairly quick. Once you have taken your dog traveling with you, he will know when itís time to travel and eventually learn to tell you when you need to stop so he can use the bathroom.

If you go leafing through advertisements for dog kennels, you can't help but notice the many that loudly proclaim that they breed golden Labrador Retrievers. And they do not mean a Golden Retriever/Labrador Retriever mix (which are also known as Golden Labrador Retrievers). They mean a golden colored purebred Labrador Retriever. According to the various Labrador Breed Associations and national kennel clubs, Labs come in just three recognized colors – and golden is not one of them.

Suspected Scam

The only three recognized colors of purebred Labrador Retrievers are yellow, black and chocolate (which used to be called liver). There are many shades of yellow in yellow Labrador Retrievers. Some are so pale that they are called "white", even though their papers will call them yellow. The darkest shade of yellow is sometimes called "gold", but even the darkest golden Labrador Retriever will not compare to the luster of a Golden Retriever.

But, like PT Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute", and they will believe whatever they are told. If they are told that there is such a thing as a purebred golden Labrador, they will break open their wallets and buy one. Even when they can clearly see that the puppy's color is yellow, they think the "golden" label means "premium" and they will buy the so-called "golden Labrador Retriever" over the identical-looking "yellow Labrador Retriever."

Nothing Wrong With A Yellow Lab
If you do discover that your pricey "golden Labrador Retriever" is simply a yellow Lab, take heart. Your dog will still be loyal and comical and loving. Keep the dog. But by all means, complain to the Better Business Bureau about how the dog was represented. It would help if you had a copy of the original ad that lead you to the kennel and a copy of the contract. You did get a contract with your "golden Labrador Retriever", didn’t you? If not, there's ANOTHER thing to complain about.

If you go to a rescue shelter and see a dog listed as a purebred golden Labrador Retriever, the staff just made a common mistake. Don't rip into them about it – they are doing the best you can. You could write a thank you letter about how well you are getting on with your rescue dog and just casually mention that, officially, there is no such thing as a purebred golden Labrador Retriever. Once that is done, concentrate on building up a great friendship with your new Lab of whatever color.

Qualities Of A Labrador Retriever Mix

While all dogs have their own unique characteristics, there are usually some that will almost always be found within a breed. Beagles almost always have a ton of energy, hounds are usually much more laid back, and the list goes on. The same thing can be said for a Labrador retriever mix.

The first you will almost always find in a Labrador retriever mix is a great intelligence. Labradors are one of the smartest dog breeds around, and golden retrievers are even smarter. Consistently retrievers will rank very high in intelligence exams, so this mix generally will also be extremely intelligent. This can be both a boon and hindrance. If you are looking for a very smart dog than the Labrador retriever mix will most certainly fall into that category. If you are looking for a dog that is not as smart and perhaps a bit less curious, then maybe you should not look at this combination.

A second quality that is very predictable in a Labrador retriever mix that is usually very predictable is their temperament. Unlike other like a lab chow mix, you can expect the temperament of a Labrador retriever mix will almost always be very mild and attentive. Lab chows can be extremely unpredictable; with some being like their lab parents and being very mild, will others can be extremely hostile and uncontrollable.

There are many other features of the mixing of these two breeds that make them desirable. There size will generally be predictable as both dogs are of similar stature. Coloration and shape will also be predictable, especially between a retriever and a yellow lab. If both these dogs have qualities you like, then you may want to consider looking at a Labrador retriever mix.

For a bit of fun I have been doing some agility courses in Delaware, Michigan and at McCann's Training School in Flamboro, Ontario for the past few months. My little friend Tarnation has also been taking up some of my time with my master but he is a nice guy and I still get to ride in the front seat of the truck and get my special snacks from Ronald McDonald's.

Went out with some friends last weekend for a little hunter trial practice in Valens . Me and my little friend Tar had some good slogging through the marsh but had no problem finding those dead ducks they were throwing out for us.

For the real thing we were down in the Port Dover,Ontario for the real thing. Just luv them ducks, and I get to have a real swim too.

Here I am at Dover with a prize:

Labrador puppies are some of the most adorable puppies in the world and many people choose them to enter their home and be their pet. Labrador puppies are bigger than the puppies of other breeds of dog, so they can cause a great deal of damage to the home if they are not trained properly. Labrador puppy training should be accomplished as soon as possible after obtaining the puppy so that the puppy will know exactly what is expected of it in the home.

Labrador puppy training is very different than Labrador dog training and it is important to find a trainer that recognizes this. Labrador puppy training typically involves teaching the puppy to not do things that they are naturally inclined to do, such as strengthening their jaws by chewing on furniture, relieving themselves wherever they choose, and barking at unfamiliar people, animals, and objects. All of these traits would help the puppy to survive if they were living in the wild, but can be quite annoying when the puppy is living in a home.

Tips For Labrador Puppy Training

If the owner decides to hire a professional dog trainer for the Labrador puppy training, it is important that the trainer has experience with training Labrador puppies. Labrador retrievers are a smart breed of dog, but a puppy is like any other child and may exhibit common childlike behaviors such as stubbornness and a love of mischief. Although most Labrador puppies love to learn new things and strive to please their owner or trainer, Labrador puppy training can be frustrating and requires a great deal of patience on the part of the trainer.

Labrador puppy training takes time and cannot be accomplished in the space of a few days. Any professional trainer that guarantees results in the space of a few days is either lying or runs the risk of hurting the puppy by overworking him to get him to learn in a shorter period of time. Professional trainers that truly know how to conduct Labrador puppy training understand that they must work at a pace that the puppy can handle and each step in the training process has to be mastered by the puppy before the next step in the training process can be accomplished.

The best way to accomplish Labrador puppy training is with patience and positive reinforcement to let the puppy know that everyone is pleased with the progress that they have accomplished. A Labrador puppy can be trained to do almost anything and will retain these lessons for the remainder of their lives. Because Labrador puppy training is successful a high percentage of the time, these puppies are often trained for important jobs, such as seeing eye dogs for the blind and service dogs for individuals that are handicapped.

One of the most popular and well known dog breeds around is the Labrador retriever. They can make very good hunting dogs, are more intelligent than some other dog breeds, and get along very well with both adults and children. Labrador retrievers are also one of the most recognizable breeds with their three different coat shades of yellow, deep brown or chocolate, and black.

You definitely know that you want a Labrador puppy with a chocolate coat, so the next step is to begin searching for a chocolate Labrador breeder. Yellow lab breeders would likely be more plentiful than looking through lists and web sites for a chocolate Labrador breeder, but they are out there. A good few places to begin your search would be online, and possibly by attending a few local dog shows.

You might also consider checking with an animal supply store for leads on finding reputable chocolate Labrador breeders. Pet groomers might have some tips and information as well. Many dog breeds have clubs that have been set up by owners to socialize with other like owners. They can often be easily located through directories and through web sites online. Referrals are the best way for any business to thrive, and dog breeders especially rely on their satisfied customers talking to others.

The Search Continues

Many a chocolate Labrador breeder has taken their business online as well; digging through search engine results might yield more than just a few names in the yellow pages. And while you are online, check out the web site for the American Kennel Club; this is one of a few prestigious associations that any good quality chocolate Labrador breeder will want to be a part of.

Find out how active they are in the canine community. “Puppy mill” operators tend to stay away since their breeding practices are looked down on by animal rights groups and other seasoned and respected chocolate Labrador and other breeders. Most of the adorable puppies you see in pet stores are products of the puppy mills, where breeding is more about quantity and not the quality of the lineage.

Once you have found the right chocolate Labrador breeder, you are another step closer to discovering which of those sweet faced puppies is your new home addition. It is okay to take your time when selecting a puppy. Even the breeder will understand your desire not to rush. They want each puppy to find the right home just as much as you want to find the right puppy for your home.

The World Wide Web is a great place to find information regarding the Labrador breed. If you happen to have stumbled across a site dealing exclusively with Labradors you will be quite amazed by the amount of information that is available that tells you everything that there is to know about these gentle and friendly creatures. However, there is also a disquieting aspect and this is when you notice advertisements regarding Labrador dog adoption.

Don’t Rush

Most people, when they see a Labrador dog adoption advertisement tends to rush into adopting the dog based solely on the appearance of the pet in question. However, there is more to Labrador dog adoption than the appearance of the Labrador because you also need to think about other important factors before going ahead with Labrador dog adoption.

To begin with, you must be sure in your mind that you do in fact need to own a pet; bringing home a pet dog involves taking on a big responsibility which you must be able to shoulder. You need to be sure that your family is willing to keep a pet and you also need to consider the age of other family members before going ahead with Labrador dog adoption.

Other factors that you need to consider before proceeding with Labrador dog adoption include making a commitment to ensuring the welfare of the Labrador, being patient and tolerant with him and you also need to take on the responsibility of feeding and grooming your pet. If you have children in the home, you need not worry about bringing home a Labrador because Labradors are gentle and friendly with children.

Labrador dog adoption is rather inexpensive as compared to buying a puppy because the majority of adopted Labradors will already have been vaccinated and spayed and they also may have been trained by their previous masters. Still, there are many expenses that you will need to consider including paying for veterinary care, food, grooming, toys and also some dog supplies.

Another important aspect to owning a Labrador is Labrador training which must be begun as early as possible. In the case of Labrador dog adoption, the good news is that most adopted Labradors generally do not give many problems because they may have been sent to shelters only because their owner was unable to properly care for them and not because of bad behavior.

Labrador dog adoption is good for you as well as for the pet since you will be helping him get a new home and in return, you will be getting a pet that will provide you with much joy. If you are looking for a Labrador check this online site Petango which has real-time listings of dogs in animal shelters all across the USA and Canada and we assist you in finding the Labrador you want.

Labrador retrievers make good hunting partners for dedicated hunters, but only if they have undergone proper Labrador hunting training. Hunting other animals is a natural instinct of the Labrador retriever, but proper training will be needed to make the dog an effective hunting partner for human companions so that the dog will not scare the game and will bring any downed game back to their owner. There are several different ways to obtain proper Labrador hunting training to make the Labrador an effective and efficient hunting partner for their human friends.

Different Types Of Labrador Hunting Training

Some hunters choose to subject their dogs to Labrador hunting training while they are still small puppies in order to ensure that the lessons learned remain with the dog for the rest of their lives. If the puppy has been purchased from a Labrador breeder, then the breeder may be willing to train the dog for hunting before the owner comes to pick up the puppy or will be willing to recommend a colleague that specializes in Labrador hunting training. This training is often very effective because these individuals have a great deal of experience training dogs for hunting and often own quite a few highly trained dogs themselves.

Another way for an owner to obtain effective Labrador hunting training is to enroll their dog in a training class. These classes are given by professional dog trainers to help the owner learn the tips and techniques of teaching the dog to do the things that the owner wants the dog to do. In many rural areas where many of the inhabitants participate in hunting on a regular basis, there may be many dog training classes available that specialize in Labrador hunting training. You may also find trainers and training materials in labrador retriever hunting training forums

In some cases, the dog can be enrolled in a Labrador hunting training boot camp, where the dog is left at the training facility for a few days to a few weeks to undergo extensive and dedicated training in the art of hunting with human companions. These training facilities allow the dogs to experience real situations in an environment where the training needs to be effective. By actually experiencing what they will be required to do instead of some person in a room just telling them what they will need to do, the dogs quickly learn what they will need to do in specific situations and will retain the information more quickly because they are actually experiencing it.

Labrador puppies are some of the largest puppies available for purchase, which means that they will be able to do more damage to the home while the owner is away if the puppy is not trained properly. Crate training Labrador puppies can be a simple task if the owner is willing to dedicate the time and the energy to training the dog properly, much like Labrador hunting training, and the benefits to having a properly crate trained puppy are numerous.

Why Should Labrador Puppies Be Crate Trained?

Crate training Labrador puppies prevents a lot of annoying behaviors that small puppies instinctively do. If the puppy is in the crate while the owners are away, it prevents the puppy from chewing on items that they are not supposed to, such as furniture, shoes, paper, and electrical cables. Chewing furniture or personal possessions is one of the biggest problems facing owners of Labrador puppies and the reason why many puppies get returned to the store or dropped off at the local animal shelter.

Another issue that crate training Labrador puppies can correct is the puppy having accidents on the floor while the owner is away during the day. Puppies have a hard time controlling when they relieve themselves, just like small children, and accidents can occur. By crate training the puppy, the owner can ensure that any accidents happen in the crate and not on their carpet or expensive décor rugs.

What Will Be Needed For Crate Training Labrador Puppies?

The equipment needed for crate training Labrador puppies is a surprisingly simple list. All the owner will need is a large crate, a soft blanket, some dog toys, and some doggy treats. By using these items in an effective manner, the owner can have the puppy crate trained in a matter of weeks.

The crate that has been purchased for the puppy should be a large size so that the puppy can grow to full size and still fit inside the crate easily. Changing the crate to larger sizes as the puppy grows will only confuse the dog and require the crate training to be reinforced each time a new crate is purchased. The purpose of crate training Labrador puppies is to make the puppy feel like the crate is the puppy's home and own personal space, much like the bedroom is for humans, so that the puppy will not fight being placed in the crate and will even enjoy the time away from the owners.

The blanket, dog toys, and treats are used to make crate training Labrador puppies easier by providing an incentive for the puppy to enter the crate and stay in the crate for an extended period of time. Puppies love to curl up and sleep on a soft blanket that is their own and will play with the toys in the crate when they become bored. Crate training Labrador puppies is considered complete once the puppy is comfortable with staying in the crate alone for long periods of time.
