CBS, aka The Tiffany Network, didn't have much to fix with it's 2013-2014 TV schedule. It plans on expanding their comedy programing on Thursday nights by moving "Person of Interest" to Tuesday night after the NCIS shows. Like the other networks, CBS seems to have a couple of dramas that are movie concepts put into a weekly series format. The comedies I liked were The Millers, Mom, and The Crazy Ones. On the drama side the only one that interested me was "Intelligence".

I wasn't that enthused with the many new shows ABC presented at their upfront presentation on Tuesday. Most of them were high concept low sustainability which means they would work as a movie or limited series but I don't see them getting past the novelty. The only shows that interested me were Back in the Game, The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife, and Killer Women. ABC's slate is the least interesting to me of the three networks I've reviewed so far.

On Monday, FOX presented its schedule for the 2013-2014 TV season and I thought overall their slate was better than what NBC presented on Sunday. The best one to me is 'Almost Human' with Karl Urban. I also thought all the new comedies were funny especially Brooklyn Nine-Nine with Andy Samburg. It will be interesting if these shows last the season but I think there is some potential.

This week starts the TV Network Upfronts where the network's new season schedule is announced. We find out what the new shows are and where veteran shows will be shown during the week. On Sunday it was NBC's turn to present it's schedule. I got to view some clips from the new shows, and except for one or two, they didn't look encouraging.

Next week the networks will be presenting their new schedules for the 2013-2014 TV season. In order to make room for new shows, the networks have to cancel current shows. This time of year is tough for me because they will always cancel a show I liked or not cancel a show I hated. Here are some thoughts on a selected list of shows that I watched and were canceled.

I like Major League Soccer, the professional league formed in the US after we hosted the 1994 FIFA World Cup. I'm a fan of the Columbus Crew. The main sport news site I visit on a regular basis is ESPN. I've resigned myself to the ESPN website focusing on the money sports of football, basketball, and baseball, and baseball, and favoring the SEC over any of the other college football conferences, but I really want to know why, when you go to their soccer page, the default shows news and...

Since Disney bought the rights to Star Wars and plan on doing new films, there have been questions about if the stars of the original trilogy would appear in them. I took it as fact that Harrison Ford would run far away since he soured on the franchise after doing Revenge of the Jedi. In one interview years ago, Ford said he asked to have Solo killed off. In an interview with David Letterman last week Ford now claims he's never been asked to return to the role and wouldn't mind doing it. Screw...

Sunday night saw the return of my favorite show Mad Men on AMC. Although it took awhile to get back into the show's unique story telling, I loved the start of the sixth season. It was great to see the gang back for another season with an episode titled 'The Doorway'. There is so much layering and subtlety that you really have to pay attention to what is going on. It looks like death will be a theme for the new season. Yay, death!

I wrote about the new FOX show The Following and how I liked the first episode but was concerned they could make a weekly series out of it. Through 11 episodes my concern has not only been proven correct but the Federal agents in the show have to be the worst agents in the country. The writers continue to find ways to pull plot points out of thin air that make no sense as if they know what the final episode of the season will be and until then it is all filler. I'm disappointed.
