Immediately after this great miracle, Jesus orders the 12 to get into a boat and go to the other side of Bethsaida on the northern end of the sea of Galilee. He then disperses the crowd, and he’s up the mountain to pray. It’s very late, the disciples find themselves in very strong winds and tumultuous waters. So far in our study we've heard the apostle Peter address the 'elect exiles' of the dispersion in Asia Minor and remind them of the great salvation that they have received. Peter knows full well the trials and persecutions that they've been under and he fears it will only get worse, therefore his main desire is to encourage them.
