First of all, I have to apologize!

I've never made a giveaway through Rafflecopter before, and I forgot to double check when the giveaway would end. I realised this morning that the giveaway had closed way before it was time, and I couldn't change it without paying for it. I am not going to pay to fix this, so I have to announce the winner now.

I know that this is not okay, but there's nothing I can do. I was thinking about opening for extra chances to win, maybe through leaving a comment somewhere, but then again that would be all mixed up with the Rafflecopter entries. There's so many entries that I can't possible write them all down and do this manually.

Goodies from Darling Dames

Hey guys!

As you may have noticed, I've teamed up with Darling Dames for the awesome 2000 Facebook likes giveaway. Darling Dames also sent me some cute stuff to review, and here's the (late) review. I've been struggling with the weather here, and since I like doing my outfit photos outside it's been hard when it's been snowing and raining every day. IN MAY! I finally got a good day and was quick to snap some photos of what she sent me.

I got two items, a leopard print top and a Muerta skull t-shirt. Unfortunately the leopard top didn't fit me, so I'm not sure if I should give it away or keep it as a "goal top" since I'm still on this weight loss journey. The top however can be found right here, and it's really cool, so I'm hoping it'll fit me some day! It's a perfect Summer top with a rockabilly twist to it.

The Muerta t-shirt however! It's so cool! I've again faced my fear of showing off my bare arms for this photo, and I'm slowly starting to feel comfortable with it. I love the fresh turquoise color of it, and the print is also super cool.

I also love the fabric. It's really soft and it feels cool against your skin. It's not too thick either so it's a perfect t-shirt for a Summer day or a chillier Summer evening. Again, this is my favorite t-shirt from the entire shop!

A little something from Milano

Hey people!

I really love it when my blog becomes known in other countries than the UK. A few weeks ago I got an email from Italy, asking if I'd be interested in doing a review on some of their items. Looking through their stuff, I was quick to say yes.

They're called SP573 and they sell handmade accessories online through Etsy. What I loved the most about their stuff is that it's rock'n'roll inspired. You can't go wrong with a little rock'n'roll! They do bracelets, necklaces and earrings, along with bandanas, and they use a lot of skulls and flowers. I like skull things, but I often feel that it can be a bit too much. In this case, SP573 balance their skull bracelets with cute flowers, and it all turns out pretty girly but still rock'n'roll and awesome. Big bonus point for that!

I was pretty excited when the parcel arrived. I knew about one of the items, but the other item was a surprise. A pleasant one!

The first item was a red bandana with a tropical print on it. I love tropical prints because they remind me of Summer, and Summer reminds me of Cyprus and then I'm all happy.

Here's a photo of the red bandana against my red hair. It's so easy to tie, you don't have to fold it 100 times and it adds a cute rockabilly touch to your look. It's also perfect for this time of year, we're getting close to the Summer.

The other item I chose myself, and it's this really cool skull and roses bracelet. As mentioned earlier I like how girly and feminine it still is, despite the evil looking skull. It's perfect!

It also matches my red nails!

I also think that these items (along with the rest of their items of course) goes well with the rockabilly look, and I know for sure that I will use the bracelet often. I love it when I discover new online shops who sell things that I feel is "me". I also know that many of you girls out there want to change your style into rockabilly, and just by adding small things like a necklace or a bracelet like this you can easily transform yourself slowly but steady into a rockabilly girl as well.

Hello girls and boys!

Here comes a little update from me to you....

There's a lot going on in my life at the moment, and I figured I should do a little update for you. It's already mid-April and that means, the exams are coming. I'm up to date with my practical exams at the moment, but I'm afraid it'll be stressful in June before the due date!

This year I have 2 courses; design and art. We have three practical exams in each course, so in June I will be handing in a sculpture, an item of clothing, something made out of wood (we don't know yet), a ceramic vase, a graphic print and a self portrait I believe. It's mainly practical work but we also have two written exams, plus one small test in how to use the different tools etc. It's all good so far, and I think I'm gonna survive yet another year of exams.

Next to school I work every now and then in a flower shop, which is amazing. I really love it, and hopefully I'll continue to work there next year. I also work out... a lot. Still. I've read so much about self love and self acceptance lately, and I must admit, I can't love myself more than I do right now. That sounds selfish, doesn't it? But it's true. I love seeing my body change from lazy bastard to fitness queen! I really don't think there's anything nice about being overweight and I need the flab to go before it's too late. Don't take this wrong, there's nothing wrong with being plus size and proud of it, that's great if you're able to. It's just not for me. I'm fighting my ankle injury and I'm fighting the fat to be a healthier and happier me. No more fat pressuring my inner organs!

When you feel good, you look good.

I work out 6 days a week. I go to spin classes twice a week followed by a core class (muscle work), and the rest of the days I either do cardio by my own or muscle work with my boyfriend. I do yoga too, but the classes are about to be discontinued, so no more yoga for me. Since I started working out and seeing the changes, I've felt a strong need to help others losing weight as well. In January I started a "Getting fit with The Rockabilly Girl Next Door" group on Facebook, and we're approximately 50 members. The girls are checking in every day and they support each other so much! They share tips and tricks, recipes, they show moral support if someone's feeling down, they are just amazing. Even though I don't know these ladies in the real world, it makes me so happy to see that they're losing weight and getting fitter for every day that goes by. I feel like I'm doing something good, and I also feel like I have to be a good role model = I feel like I have to do good in the gym. That's great for me, since it's super motivational to have 50 ladies depending on you. If you want to join us, feel free, but there's one rule: You have to participate in conversations :)

When I'm first talking about projects, I'm involved in another awesome thing. As you may have noticed over the last weeks, I've been promoting the Baiden mitten. The reason why? I just think this thing is so awesome that I have to share it. I know that many people have their doubts about it, but seriously, it works. I've dedicated a page to it here on my blog where I will be collecting testimonials and information about the mitten, including links to where you can buy it. I have so many things going on at the moment! There's one thing I want to share first. That is that I got my own page over at HomeTown Pinup! I have the honour of representing Norway in their "Across the pond" section. I am really flattered, it's amazing to be a part of something, especially when it's something I'm really in to. I would never in a million years thought that I would be featured on pages like that when I first started this blog. If you want to see my page, simply click the photo. I am so proud of what I've accomplished through this blog. I get mails from all over the world, and recently I've been mailing with a teen girl who wants to step into the rockabilly world, so she's been asking me for tips. I opened an email account for the blog only, to separate my private life from my blog life, and it's in the "about me" section of this blog if you feel like emailing me.

The very last thing I want to share is that I have one hell of a giveaway coming up! I got hold of the best thing ever to give away, but I'm gonna keep it a secret until the giveaway goes live. Get your bling on

I hope you've had a nice Easter, I sure did.

Today's post is a little review. I got sent some bling from Cutey!

I always love doing reviews. Why? Because I always discover new things, and I often end up getting a new favorite online store. These bracelets in particular are called Shamballa, and that was the thing that got my attention. As some of you may know, I've studied religion and I find religions extremely interesting, especially Hinduism and Buddhism. The word "shamballa" grabbed my attention, and from Cutey's website I quote;

Now who wouldn't want some extra happiness every now and then?

It's almost impossible to capture their bling-ness (new word) with a camera, but believe me, they have a lot of bling. They're a statement piece for sure. I must admit they're not my personal taste, but I still like them. I chose the pink and white, and they also sent me the white in addition to my choice.

Rockabilly Tuesday # 12

The last Rockabilly Tuesday was about getting flawless makeup like a proper rockabilly girl, and it was part one of two. This is part two! No matter how great your brushes are, you need a good base to start off with. Great skin is something we all want, and I'm no different. Having perfect skin without no makeup would be a dream, and I can promise you results if you try this product.

I've tested this product for about a month now, and even though my photos are taken at different times of the day (the lighting may seem different) I can tell the difference. So what's my secret?

Ever since I saw Sorelle's video about the Baiden Mitten, I've wanted one. She's the brain behind PinUpPassion.com, and her skin is always flawless. I've wanted a mitten for ages. So this year I decided to treat myself to one. Could a simple scrubbing glove really make a difference? Believe me, yes it can!!

This was my "before" photo. I've pointed out my flaws, and if it's hard to see just click the photos and you can see them better. I've had a weird spot thingy on my forehead for a couple of years, my nose was full of blackheads (ew) and my cheeks were always red and it was hard to conceal under my eyes thanks to the redness. I've had these really dark areas around my eye/eyebrow (also hard to conceal) and my lips have been dry and flaky. I've also struggled with spots on my chin. Notice how "grey" my skin tone is. This is taken in natural day light, and I'm amazed by how sick I look.

I couldn't wait to try my mitten, and I jumped in the shower. I took a long shower with fairly hot water (not too hot, be careful!) and I then started scrubbing. I scrubbed my face first, very gently, and then I attacked the rest of my body. Now here's the funny thing. Before I got my mitten, I used the cheap scrubbing gloves you can get from Boots or H&M, and I honestly believed I scrubbed away all the dead skin and I felt soooo clean. Well, I tossed them immediately after trying my Baiden mitten! Seriously, with the Baiden mitten you can actually SEE the dead skin coming off. It's amazingly gross, but yet so fantastic. You know when you're sun burnt and the skin rolls off? THAT'S what happening with this mitten. You literally scrub off dead skin and the new skin underneath is like baby skin. I am not joking. I can't find the right words to describe how amazing it is. And here was I thinking I got really clean with my cheap gloves from Boots? What a fool.

You just scrub up and down, not in a circular motion, and you'll be amazed. You don't have to moisturize either, but if you want to that's okay as well. I put a cooling body lotion on my body, and I washed my face with rose water before popping my facial cream on afterwards. You will look like a lobster after using it, especially the first few times. The hot water and intense scrubbing will make your skin red so don't do this right before an important date or photo shoot. I usually scrub my face in the evening before I go to sleep, and when I wake up I'm all soft and glowy.

This is a photo taken today, and as mentioned, the lighting may make it difficult to see, but my skin is so much even and healthier. Again, the old flaws are pointed out and they're all reduced or even better, gone. Before I started with the mitten I used A LOT of foundation to try to even out my skin tone, and sometimes that didn't work either. Now, I only use a minimal amount of liquid foundation (smaller than a pea size drop) and some mineral foundation on top just under my eyes. That's it. I actually don't need anything else, and I don't use my concealer anymore. It saves me time in the morning, and my skin loves it. Just like the first photo, this is taken in natural daylight. No more grey and "sick looking" skin. I look healthy!

So many rides...

Hey people!

A few weeks ago I got an email from Flaming 13, asking me if I'd be interested in receiving one of their tops or tee's. I'm always happy when companies contact me. Not only because I get new stuff (oh I do love stuff) but I also discover new companies and I can share them with you.

I was actually in the gym when I got the email, so I was anxious to get home to check out their website. After having a look I found a top I liked, and I emailed back. Since they're a fairly new company and wanted people to review their products, I asked if my fiancé could get a tee as well. Of course was the answer, and he picked one he liked.

First of all, emailing with Jessica from Flaming 13 was like emailing a friend, she was very friendly towards me and also super nice, plus she responded very quick! So in my opinion this seemed great, but it became even greater when I got in trouble with the customs in Norway. The thing is, if you order something online valued more than 200NOK (£22) and it's not declared as a gift, I have to pay twice as much just to get the parcel released from the post office. And of course, this had to happen with my tee's! I'm a student and at the time I wasn't working, so having to pay twice as much for something that was meant to be a gift really sucked. I emailed Jessica and she straight away refunded my customs fee through PayPal. Wow! Now that's what I call customer service. Major plus to Flaming 13 for being awesome about this.

Alright, back to the shirts. I ordered mine in one size smaller since I've lost a lot of weight, and I was happy to see that it did fit me! It's still a bit tight, but I've decided to make it a "goal shirt", when I reach my goal weight it will fit perfectly. For the photos, I wasn't sure what to do... I have a big thing about showing my bare arms. I absolutely HATE my arms, but wearing a cardi or a jacket would ruin the look of the top.... So I manned up and went ahead with the photos. So, Flaming 13, I'm breaking out of my "I hate my arms"-mindset just for you!

That's my skull top. It says "so many rides, so little time" and it has an awesome skull on it. Perfectly rock'n'roll and rockabilly friendly! I love the fabric too. It's soft and cool, if I can say that. I mean.. it feels cold to touch which is great for Summer! I wore it with a normal black top underneath because it's quite wide in the arm area (maybe you can see it at the picture), and my bra was showing ruining my photo. I really love the top and I can't wait for it to fit even better. I like that the print is on the side, instead of over the boobs like many other tops. It just adds a different twist to the whole look, which I like.

Here's two detail shots of the print, the first one is taken indoors and the other one really shows off the awesome colors. And I can't help but mentioning it.... I look like a thin person!! Or at least not how I used to look like, that is.

My fiancé chose this shirt. Notice that we have matching prints!! He's got the skull as well, but on a red t-shirt. He's worn his quite a lot after getting it, even to the gym. After asking him, he confirmed that he liked the shirt and he's happy to have it. When I started asking about the quality of the fabric he just looked at me and went "I don't care about things like that.... I like the shirt". Ah well, he's a guy, what else can I expect? I would be shocked if he went all Carson from Fab 5 on me!

Extreme Largeness says hello

Hello people!

So I received some goodies in the mail the other day...

Right before Christmas I got an email from Extreme Largeness, asking me if I'd be interested in doing a review for them! After checking out their website I said yes, and last week I got a nice gift in the mail box.

I got to choose some stuff that I liked, so I decided on some swallow patches and a Maneki Neko patch. I love patches because you can transform f.ex a normal black cardi into a rockabilly cardi in no time just by adding a patch or two.

I love swallows, and these ones are really pretty!

This is the Maneki Neko patch. I've recently found a love for Japanese and Chinese stuff, and I really want one of those big Maneki Neko's! I thought this patch was cute though, and I might put it on a jacket or something. Not sure yet!

Now that I've learnt to use a sewing machine in uni I might be able to sew them on myself! The easy option is to iron them on, but I've found that sewing them on as well makes them stick for longer. I hate losing stuff, so I want my things to stick properly. The quality of the patches is quite good as well, so I'm really happy with these!

The next thing I chose was this kitty ear ring! I thought it was so cute, but the big bummer is that it doesn't fit!! I'm not losing all hope yet, since I am on a weight loss journey and I know I have plenty more to lose... it will fit!! I squeezed it on my ring finger and then it nearly didn't come off (cue panic attack), so for this photo I put it on my pinky finger.

It would be so awesome if it did fit! The ears even match my kitty tattoo and her ears!

I was happy with the items I chose, but the big surprise came when I saw this!! On the website you can order custom necklaces, and they made one with "Miss K" for me! What a great surprise. I love the necklace, but I might change the chain to a silver chain (just because I like silver better), but it's pretty damn awesome! Thanks guys!

Alright people....you've asked for it, and here it is. Rockabilly Tuesday is BACK! I'll still write tips and tricks on how to be a rockabilly girl, but this time I will also mention some of my favorite products, online shops etc and how they've worked for me, either by having awesome products or giving me lots of inspiration.

The very first Rockabilly Tuesday of 2013 is dedicated to something we all have, and something lots of us struggle with: OUR SKIN. This will be a blog post in two parts, part one today and part two in a few more weeks.

Being a rockabilly girl often comes with wearing heaps of makeup and you need the right tools for that sort of stuff. I have a confession to make. I have used cheap brushes from a random eBay store for quite a while, and to be honest, I've thought they were okay and good enough. Man I was wrong. I've realized that the importance of having great tools for applying your makeup is essential if you want that flawless pinup rockabilly face.

I wasn't sure whether I should do this as a Rockabilly Tuesday post or as a review post, so I figured I'd do a bit of both, just so you can see how amazing my new makeup tools really are.

Today I'm going to introduce you to the queens of makeup brushes, Samantha Chapman and the team at Real Techniques. I asked on Twitter for tips on good makeup brushes and pretty much all of the tweets I got back recommended Real Techniques. I decided to treat myself and ordered the Core Collection. Even though they're not insanely expensive, I couldn't really afford them but I figured I'd manage in some way.
They're only $18 and free shipping! The website only ships to the US, but they also sell them from eBay with worldwide shipping.

They arrived and I was super excited to try them. They came in this little bag.

I'm already impressed by the looks of them!

When I first tried them, I had to bring the box with me to the bathroom, because I didn't know which one to use for what. But then I realized... it says on the brushes! Buffing brush, concealer brush etc. What a great idea! It's also plenty of great tutorials on their website showing you how to use the different brushes, so you can't really go wrong.

The bag they come in can also be tightened so they can stand up. That way you can set them up on your makeup table or wherever you want.

I've used them for a couple of days now, and I can't find the right words to describe how good they are. They are so soft, and you can really feel that you're working with high quality tools. I use a mix of liquid foundation and powder foundation to make my skin look even and nice, and I've always used my FINGERS to apply the liquid foundation. What a fool I've been, the liquid foundation brush is way better and the coverage is just.. amazing.

I took my old powder brush, highlighter brush and other random powder brush and threw them in the bin. I'm never going back to that crappy plastic whatever I've been using. From now on, I'll only be using Real Techniques. Forever. I honestly can't believe I've used the old ones and been thinking that they were good!?

I get a lot of comments on my skin and how flawless it is, really, it's not that flawless, but with makeup and these AMAZING brushes it's not that bad after all. If you want perfect makeup like me and are willing to get an eye opener when it comes to makeup tools, I really recommend Real Techniques! My next project is to get the starter set and then hopefully even more brushes.

Hello people!

Today I want to write about something I've noticed about myself lately. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one suffering from this, so hopefully this will help you back on track.

Before I started on my lifestyle change I was really into wearing makeup and having my hair done. I got up in the morning and did my face and hair before school, even though I was just going to be there for 3 hours. I did my makeup even though I was sitting home all day.

By joining a gym you spend quite a lot of time being sweaty and yucky, and wearing makeup during your workout is never a good idea. Your skin will hate you! It's not possible to try to look good at the gym. I've seen girls applying their fake tan and foundation BEFORE their workouts, and they end up looking all shiny and their eye makeup ends up like Alice Cooper's makeup. Just imagine that thick foundation clogging up their pores and skin. No no no.

Over the last weeks I've turned into one of those "I don't care about anything" girls. Greasy hair in a pony tail and no makeup, often seen in jammies and a hoodie. Worst crime must be a hoodie with food stains from yesterday's dinner. Extremely unattractive and totally not how I want to look. With up to two sessions in the gym in a day, I end up probably 99% of the time like that food stained hoodie girl.

A typical day is me waking up, applying some makeup and trying to make a hair do, go to uni and then to the gym. At the gym I wipe it all off and my hair goes in a pony tail. I then do my thing, and go home to shower. After my shower my fringe is all messy, I have panda eyes and I put on my jammies. And with that look, I keep on living my life until I go to bed again.

The awful truth... This is me on a Saturday feeling awesome.

But along with Monday comes this creature... the after gym slobby hoodie girl!

Hoodie girl - you're going down!

I'm not saying it's something wrong with being comfy and happy when you're at home. I'm just saying that this lifestyle is taking over my rockabilly-I-love-makeup- life. I refuse to end up like that! I just feel slobby and unattractive, and in the long run this affects my self esteem. So I've decided to change it, and I'm starting today!

Here's some tips to avoid ending up like a food stained hoodie girl:

- Hair in a ponytail?

Well, do your fringe (if you have one) and add a cute bow to your hair.

- Going to the gym early in the morning?

Waterproof mascara on your top lashes. You'll look more awake and even the slightest amount of makeup will make you feel better!

- Slobbing at home?

Instead of going for the full jammies and hoodie-look, keep the jammie bottoms but let your upper body stay "normal". Top and a cardi + jammies = comfy and cute.

- Greasy hair and you don't have the time to shower in the morning?

Dry shampoo and a bandana. Lifesaver deluxe.

- Feeling crap?

Do your nails.

In addition to these I try to get back to my real self in the weekends. Even if we're just going food shopping, I do my full makeup and hair and I put on fresh clothes and feel great. I'm slowly taking myself back, and I'm not letting this "oh look at the me I'm so sporty and sweaty, therefore I only wear slobby clothes" girl win over me.

Hello!

So we're over a week in to the new year. How are you all doing? Still in Christmas coma?

I'm back to my routines again, and I kinda like it. I came back to my flat and my boyfriend last week, and I'm very happy to be home with him again. It was great being home for a couple of weeks, but in the end it's nice to get back into the "real life" again. It was a well deserved holiday too, and I made sure I enjoyed every day of it.

When I came back my boyfriend had cleaned the flat, changed the sheets and bought milk and baguettes. Just a little thing like him buying milk for me made me all aww. He's the best boyfriend ever! The weekend was full of cuddles and kisses, food and fun. On Sunday we decided to go for a walk, to boost our motivation for the gym on the following Monday. It was the weirdest walk ever, we ended up in the middle of nowhere and it was muddy and wet everywhere. Anyway, we got to burn some calories and we started getting pumped for the gym.

I've started uni again this week, and I'm already annoyed with the whole system. They managed to mess up my exam papers (not just mine, a whole envelope of them!) and almost three days after the grade was published I'm still without a grade. Hopefully it'll come soon so I can relax a bit! Despite the mess, I think this year will be a lot better than last year. The assignments are interesting and I think we'll have plenty of time to finish them this time. Before Christmas we struggled so hard to finish our assignments, and new ones kept coming all the time. Stress deluxe.

In addition to me starting uni, I've started exercising again. It felt great to be back in the gym and back on the diet, and I already feel way better than I did during Christmas when I was full of chocolate all the time. This year I was planning on doing yoga twice a week and cardio sessions on my own the rest of the week, but I've made a slight change to that....

...wait for it...

I've signed up for spinning classes. I've NEVER done that before, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to die. Me and two friends from class have signed up for tomorrow's 45 minutes spin class. So I just wanted to say thank you, and goodbye. Just kidding! I'm gonna enter that spin room and pretend like I'm a freakin' Olympic athlete in spinning! :)

This blog post was a bit random, but I felt like doing a little something to let you know that I'm still alive. I also want to thank all the new people on my Facebook page! I've had a huge boom in new likes the last weeks, and it makes me really happy to see.

Before I leave I want to tell you about my weight loss/fitness support group I have on Facebook now. I created a group with the intention to get a couple of members who wanted to join me on the way to a healthier self. I'm amazed because we're over 50 members now and the group is full of support, just what you need when you're struggling on your own to lose weight or to get healthier. It's not a "I'm gonna get skinny" group, it's basically a "I want to change my lifestyle" kinda group. Hello!

How are we all doing? The holidays are coming to an end, and we're getting close to New Years Eve. A new year, a new start. This post will be a mix of my 2012 and NY resolutions for 2013, both my own and yours.

My 2012 has been awesome, even though the year started quite sad. We lost our neighbour, a person who's been there since I was born. He's always been around, and it was horrible to hear that he had passed away. When tragedies like this happens, you remember what's important in life. Minor incidents and drama is forgotten and you focus on your closest friends and family. With his death in mind I decided to forget everything drama-related that had happened in the previous year, and I decided to live my life spending zero energy on drama.

That was a good decision, because my year kept getting better. I started getting my driver's license and I had a great time in uni, focusing on my final semester. I finished my last teacher placement period in February, and in March my best friend and her boyfriend came to visit us. We went to a show called "We love the 90's", which was absolutely horrendous. Well, in a good way. It was so much fun. We got to see the epic Scooter just to mention one of the artists playing, and we got free drinks!

I got a new part time job, translating Disney shows into Norwegian. This was so much fun, but very time consuming. I did a few episodes but it got close to my exams and I had to focus on my school work. It was a great experience though, and I'm glad I got the opportunity to try it. I just wish I had more time, but uni was eating me up.

The Spring season came and I spent a lot of time working and studying. I also put myself in Twitter jail for the first time during Eurovision for tweeting too much, and had to get The Agoraphobic Fashionista to tweet and alert the people that I was in Twitter jail, not dead.

I got the opportunity to model for Dolly Cool for the second time. The tropical tiki range was launched later, in August. I never thought I'd be suited as a model, but it's been great fun working with Dolly Cool! I've modelled for her Candy Cool collection earlier, and it was super fun doing the tiki tropical collection as well.

In addition to getting to model again, I also got a two page feature in Vintage Life Magazine! This is my favorite magazine, and I was over the moon about getting my article in it. A big moment indeed!

June was the big month in my life, and in my boyfriend's life. Everything fell into place for us in June. He got an amazing job at Rolls-Royce after being unemployed for several months, I passed my driving test and graduated as a teacher AND we got a car. My neighbour who passed away in February sold his car to me. It was both sad and good at the same time. I had my own car that I had paid for myself, but it was still full of memories from him. I teared up when I found his sunglasses and other belongings in the car, and it took some time before I managed to remove his things.

I spent my Summer holiday at home with my parents, and had a lot of fun with my best friend. My boyfriend joined me in August and together we went on a road trip across Norway in our car! I had only had my license for one month but still we decided to cross the country. We visited his father and little brother on the way, and they happened to live 45 minutes from my aunt and uncle, so I got to see them as well. I've met them once in my life, and I was so young that I can't even remember it. What a small world. We also visited my boyfriend's other little brother before we headed to Volda, where we live.

Me and my boyfriend started our lifestyle change in August. We joined the gym and we started eating extremely healthy. Since August we've been hitting the gym 5-6 days a week plus I did yoga twice a week in addition to the cardio sessions. We've changed our lives completely. We're so much fitter, healthier and stronger, and we've both lost a lot of weight.

I got a new part time job again in August as well. I got to teach Norwegian to foreign students for a period of 7 weeks, and this was so much fun. I think this is something I could work with! I also started a new course in uni, and I met some lovely new friends. I also won a pinup competition, and I got my face printed on a deck of playing cards. I got to be the Queen of Hearts, and I also won with over 600 votes!

The fall went quickly with a lot of uni work, but in between the stress I got to blog for House of Fraser (!) and I got to go on holiday! My boyfriend and I went to Holland for a week to visit a friend, and to celebrate our 2 year anniversary (plus we got new tattoos!). When I got back I was in the middle of the exam period and I ended up being super busy. With the exams done, it was already December and I could enjoy my Christmas holiday.

The year of 2012 has been amazing. So many great opportunities, great experiences and no drama! It's been a relief really. My life couldn't get better even if I tried, and I'm so happy and pleased with my life. I know this might seem a bit over the top-happy to some, but guess what. I don't care! I can't wait for 2013. I'm sure it will be even more amazing :)

With a new year coming up, we also get the resolutions.... so here we go:

I've picked some of my favourite resolutions from you guys. They were all good, but these are my top 6. I guess I like them the best since I can relate to them all so well.

Geneviève Gagnon: FIND A JOB. A JOB where I can be happy whatever it is!

Jisell Jude: Stop settling for someone who makes you an option when you make them a priority (...).

Corri Kenney: This is going to be the year I get into shape!!!

Sera McDaid: Taking no shit of NOBODY yeooooo! (I had to keep the yeeeooo part!)

Sharon Flitcroft Giesbrecht: Down sizing. Down sizing the amount of junk in my house, the amount of fat on my body and the amount of stress in my life. This is going to be the beginning of a great thing!

Amanda Krause: Mine and the hubby's 2013 motto is debt free and fat free! ;-) I will but a medium size pinupgirlclothing dress this year! :-)

But what about mine?

- I'm going to continue going to the gym 5 days a week and eat healthy.

(I've done that for 4 months now, so I know I can keep this one!)

- I'm going to do the best I can to run my new weight loss motivation page!

- I'm going to be the best girlfriend I can be.

- I'm going to be the best friend I can be.

- I'm going to let the haters hate and not let them (stupid "classmates") affect me in any way. My education is more important than letting them piss me off.

I did it - and so can you!

My original plan for last weekend's blog post failed, since I failed.

This time, I've succeeded!!

Many of you follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook as well, and therefore you're likely to have heard of my weight loss journey. If you haven't, don't worry.

The background story...

When I lived in Belfast, I did a lot of exercising. I lost quite a lot of weight and I was at my lightest weight ever as an adult. That all changed when I moved back to Norway. The gym was too far away from my flat and it was too expensive. My boyfriend was without a job and I was a student, so we couldn't afford it. I gained 10 kilos (22lbs) in one year, and I was feeling pretty bad about it. My boyfriend also gained 10 kilos +, and he was miserable as well. We had a rough time last year with no money and bad self esteem, but we had each other and we got through it.

The Summer of 2012 changed our lives. I got my driver's license and he got a job. Suddenly we had money enough for the gym and we could actually get there thanks to the car I got along with my driver's license. Well, I didn't get it, I bought it for my very own money thank you very much, hehe!

I went home on my Summer holiday, and lost a few kilos on my own, and when I got back we went to the gym straight away and joined. We also got a decent discount from my boyfriend's job, so it ended up being cheaper than expected. We started working out on the 20th of August. The physiotherapist recommended us to start with 2 times a week, but we were both so determined to change our lives that we did something drastic.

The lifestyle change....

We started going to the gym 5 days a week, straight away. I also joined a yoga class, so basically I went to the gym 7 times a week, for 40-50 minutes each time. This is something I never would have pulled off on my own and I would never have stuck to it if it hadn't been for Tomas. He's been with me all the way, and we've supported each other from day 1. We changed our lives completely. We exercise and we eat stupid healthy. We've started with the paleo diet, but we've done some changes to it to make it "ours". It's easier to stick to a diet if you make it yours, instead of following it to the dot. You might end up eating things you don't like, and after a while you'll give up. Replace what you don't like with something you like, and that's it. Easy! If you want to go all paleo, check out our friend Tomasz website Caveman Nutrition. He's awesome, and he's done a pretty decent job on transforming himself as well.

It's been some tough weeks, but it's awesome to see the progress, both in the gym and on the scale, and of course seeing the difference on our bodies.

My first goal was to get rid of the first number on my weight. Hard to explain, but instead of 65 kilos you get down to 59. Not that 59 kilos is my weight, that's not a healthy weight, but I'm trying to explain the first goal I had. So yeah, replace the first number with the number one lower. Woha, I'm great at explaining..... Sorry. 79 instead of 82 etc.

Goal number 2 was to get back to my Belfast weight and lose 10 kilos. 16 weeks with healthy food and a lot of exercising, I did it. I HAVE LOST 10 KILOS (22LBS)!!! I almost cried. I can't believe I've done it. I guess it could be more than 10 kilos in 16 weeks, but when you're losing weight it's important to drop the kilos slowly, that's how you'll keep them from getting back again.

My third goal is to get a new number again. So I've got 7,5 kilos to lose (16.5lbs).

The fourth goal is to lose 20 kilos (44lbs). When I get to this point, I have one goal left, and that's reaching my goal weight.

Goal number five is, as mentioned, reaching my goal weight. When I get there I will have lost in total 28.6 kilos (almost 63lbs.. 4 stone!!).

Breaking down my weight loss journey into reachable milestones makes it easier to succeed. Instead of succeeding one time by losing it all, I can be awesome 5 times! :)

I'm sharing this with you because it will motivate me even more. I know that you guys are aware of what I'm doing, and now I can't get away with failing and gaining it all back. With that in mind, I've created a little Facebook network for you to join. I know that many of you out there are either struggling with your weight, or you just want to drop a few pounds. So, I've created the page Getting fit with The Rockabilly Girl Next Door where we can watch out for each other and motivate each other, share stories, recipes etc. Who's with me? We can do this!! Everyone is welcome, women and men! This is my new years resolution, I want to help others in my situation. I wanna do something!

I wish I could show you my before and after photos, but they are in my underwear , and a) I'm not happy about my half naked body being online and b) I'm not ready yet. I can show you a photo of my face though, before and now.

Just before I leave, since I have a feeling this might be an issue:

I am doing this for myself. I am doing this to lose weight so I can be a healthier version of myself, and it's also because of my ankle injury. I do this to get healthier so I can live a better and longer life. My ankle is less painful now since I have less weight to carry around, and I'm hoping that in the long run this will benefit me when I get older. I am facing surgery and/or possible not being able to walk properly as adult/elder. Losing weight now will help when that time comes.

I am not doing this because I want to be "skinny". I still believe in the beauty of curves, and I am not sure that my goal weight is reasonable when it comes to how I will look. Maybe I end up happy at goal nr 3 or 4? Who knows. I'm not planning on losing so much weight that I end up model skinny. I'm not built for a body like that. I just want to be healthy and happy with myself. I don't care about what other people might think, this is for me.

I am not expecting people to lose weight and get healthy because I'm doing it. I genuinely want to help other people in my situation, and I'm hoping that the Facebook page can contribute to that. I want people to be inspired by not only me, but by other people as well. That's why I've created this Facebook page, so we can inspire and motivate each other.

So if you're thinking about leaving a comment about "you don't have to do this, you look great no matter what bla bla". Well thank you for that, but this is for me and my health. Keep that in mind please.

From back in the days to now

Hello people!

I'm sorry for being so quiet lately! The exams have pretty much taken over my life, but tomorrow I'm handing them in and that means I get my life back! Well, almost. I have one more written exam left, but that's no stress compared to my two practical exams. As you may know, I'm studying arts and crafts, and that means that our exams are practical, again meaning very time consuming. But I got there in the end!

I had something planned for this week's blog post, but that something didn't happen, so I figured I should find something else fun for you guys. So... I've dug out some of my looks through the years, so you can have a nosy! I've wanted to do something like this for a while, since many people have the idea that you have to have a certain "look" to be a rockabilly girl. You're wrong!

Let's start the (freak) show....

The first time I ever did something to my hair was when I was 17. I dyed it brown-ish, pierced my nose and started stretching my ear lobes.

I later dyed it darker brown underneath, with a blonde-ish color on top. I had a long side-swept fringe and black makeup.

For some idiotic reason I thought would be nice to have undercuts. The hairdresser made this look, and I never had my hair like that ever again. The mohawk was platinum blonde and the undercuts had my natural hair color.

Desperately trying to make this mohawk work, I managed to make a little fringe and kinda lived my life looking like this.

I started getting into the rockabilly look, and the bandana could hide my undercuts. When you're trying to grow stuff like that out, you get to a ugly-short hair period, and thank you bandana for hiding that pretty well.

The hair kept on growing and I could finally make some victory rolls! Still super platinum blonde...

Still sticking to the bandana. My hair is actually so blonde at this point it's ridiculous. Like icy super white mega platinum blonde.

TIME FOR A CHANGE!

I grew my fringe out, but kept the short back. I dyed half of my fringe black, and for a while I looked like this! I also started playing around with a faux bang.

I think I came to a point where I really started to get tired of my short hair, and I started growing it. This is my first "rockabilly" picture of myself, where I rolled my fringe.

Suddenly one night I got a huge desire to cut Bettie bangs. After thoroughly thinking about it for.. a day, I called a hairdresser and booked an appointment. So yeah. I got a Bettie fringe! Still black and blonde, with ugly-short hair in the back.

And then I moved to Belfast....

In Belfast I decided to dye my hair. RED. So I went to Vintage Rocks and got red hair. It was still short with a Bettie fringe, and now I decided (again) that I wanted to grow my hair. I had a little setback when I was icy blonde and I got my undercuts done again. Bad decision. I figured out that long red hair would be nice, and I told the hairdresser to stop me if I ever suggested cutting my hair ever again.

This is where I ended up. I've finally found myself and I'm so comfortable with my looks. And I have long hair! Yay!

So what was the point of this post?

Well. First of all, for a laugh. It's fun to see how I've changed (but for some reason stayed true to my eyeliner!) and even though I've had a couple of different do's and colors, I've never been 100% ME and comfortable with it.

Second, I really wanted to show you that being a rockabilly girls is for everyone. You don't have a certain look. Look at me! I've gone from being quite average to being who I am today, both look wise and personality wise. If you want something, you can do it. If you want to be a rockabilly girl, you can! If you want to be a pinup, you can. It's all about the styling, hair and makeup. Nothing to do with your natural look. I've had girls mailing me about "would I fit this style with this face" etc etc. Yes yes yes, you will. Go for it, make it your own.

Getting some ink done with Crunch Decool

Hello people!

Today I am blogging directly from Holland! I am here on a holiday with my boyfriend to visit a friend of ours, and also to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. I wanted to do this blog post to show you guys the oh so amazing tattoo artist we found here. He really deserves all the kind words I'm about to write...

We both decided that we wanted to get some ink done while we were in Holland. I did some googling and found Tainted Love Tattoo in Groningen. After looking through the photos we decided that this was our guy, and we emailed him to get an appointment. The website said that he didn't take bookings via email, but since I was in Norway and he was here, I decided to give it a try. He did answer, and we got an appointment!

Today was the big day, and we went over and was greeted with the most awesome French guy ever. I'm not kidding, his whole look was just brilliant. Back in the days men were classy, and this guy is one of the few in our days that I still can classify as classy. From head to toe, pure class.

I mean, seriously! Awesome!

He's such a funny guy, and very friendly and helpful, and not to mention talented! He started off with my boyfriend's tattoo for a few hours, and then attacked my thumb with the tattoo gun. My boyfriend got a griffin tattoo, and I got a cute little kitty cat face on my finger. I really love how the griffin goes around his arm, and the lines and shading work.. amazing! I can't wait to see how it heals. He's wanted a griffin tattoo for ages, and finally he got one.

I for some reason wanted to get a finger tattoo. I've got one already and know how painful that was, so why not just go for another one? I love kitties, and just seeing a kitty makes me very happy. Therefore a kitty tattoo would be perfect! Even though the tattoo artist said that he hated tattooing fingers and it was easy to "fuck it up" as he so nicely said it, he went for it and I think he did a brilliant job considering the awkward placement and the small photo I brought with me.

He also fixed my Bettie Page tattoo. She had a weird face and I never got around to fix it while I lived in Belfast, but now I'm just waiting for it to heal and I'm sure she'll look nice and pretty again. He did warn me about the finger tattoo fading, but he offered a free touch up if I ever came to Groningen again. I think that's great service, even though I'm not from here and I have no idea if I'll come back in the near future either.

I have nothing but good things to say about Tainted Love Tattoo and Crunch Decool. Everything from being super helpful with the whole email booking thing to giving us two amazing tattos, all brilliant. I really recommend all of you lovely Dutch readers considering a tattoo to pop over to Groningen and get your ink done with Crunch! My love affair with Vintage Life

Hello sweet people!

So, it's getting close to the end of this year, we're in November already! That also means it's getting closer to the end of my subscription to the best magazine in the world, the ever so lovely Vintage Life Magazine...

How did I discover Vintage Life? When I lived in Belfast I was always popping in to WHSmith, mainly because it was a huge awesome store that I'd never seen before. So many magazines! I was searching through the lifestyle section and suddenly I saw something saying VINTAGE behind a bunch of magazines. I picked it up and decided to buy it, just because the girl on the cover was pretty and it looked like something I'd like to read. From that day I was in love.

Living in Belfast made it easy for me to buy the magazines each month, but the big problem came when I moved back to Norway. I asked for the magazine in the shops here and they just looked at me as if I'd just made it all up. Alright, no more Vintage Life for me...

.... until I discovered that you could subscribe to them online!

A outside UK subscription was £54.99 and last Christmas I announced to myself that I was buying myself a Christmas gift, a year's subscription to this amazing magazine. The dull life in non-rockabilly/vintage friendly Norway would now be a bit less dull once a month when the magazine appeared in my mailbox. Giving yourself a Christmas present is always a good idea in my opinion, but instead of something that won't last for very long, why not give yourself a subscription to Vintage Life? It will give you something to look forward to each month for a whole year!

Throughout the whole year I've enjoyed reading makeup articles, vintage style tips, cake recipes, Viva Las Vegas articles (especially since I'm seriously considering getting myself over to VLV one day...) and the gorgeous Betty Bee's DIY-tips. As a huge Poirot fan I absolutely loved the article about the Orient Express in issue 22, and I think I need to add a trip on the Orient Express to my bucket list as well.

One of the biggest moments in my life was when Vintage Life actually contacted me, little me, and asked me to write for them. I was over the moon! A couple of years ago when I was a shy girl not feeling pretty or worthy enough for nice hair and makeup, I would never have dreamed about getting an opportunity like this.... Of course I said yes, and just a month or so later the magazine came and there it was. My very own article in THE Vintage Life Magazine, issue 20. I did an article on the vintage/rockabilly life in Norway, and I also got my picture in there! The large photo is also showing my amazing view from my flat.

A year filled with amazing stories and articles, pretty girls (and guys) and inspiration. It's been a great year, and it is with great sadness that I realize that the next issue will be my last. As a student I can't afford a new year.

I was talking to my boyfriend the other day and we started talking about the magazine and how sad I was that next month would be the last. And then he said, as if it was the most normal thing ever to say, "that'll be a part of your Christmas gift this year then". My face lit up and I said "what!?", he just smiled and kept on walking. I already knew he was the best boyfriend I could ask for, but this just confirmed it even more. He's also giving me a tattoo for Christmas, and I was perfectly happy with that but now... I just love him.

It's never a bad day to wear a dress

Hello!

The title of this blog post might be a bit contradictory to my situation. Yesterday I decided to make my very first vlog, and if you haven't seen it yet, I suggest you should. We've had a massive snow fall here over the night, so maybe dresses wouldn't be the most appropriate item of clothing for me. But hey, that won't stop me from window shopping online!

First of all, check out the vlog!

I have teamed up with House of Fraser this time, and I've found some neat dresses on their website I want to share with you. If there's one thing I miss about living in the UK, it must be the shopping possibilities. Even though we don't have House of Fraser here in Norway, I'm very familiar with the name and I remember the shop from my Belfast life. I was so excited when they contacted me about this blog post, and I'm very happy that I got this opportunity.

All the dresses are found in the dresses collection part of the website, but since I'm such a nice girl I've linked them all for you as well.

There are so many nice dresses on the website, but I decided on five favorites. I couldn't really pick all of them now, could I...? Some of them are also on sale, so I really recommend you to check out the website and see if you find yourself a nice bargain!

Favorite no 1: Eliza J - 3/4 Sleeve Ruched Waist Dress

A dress with sleeves!! Yes! That's something I love, and something I miss. I can't stand wearing tops or dresses with bare arms, so I'm always in a cardigan as well. People should make more dresses with sleeves. I love that it looks like a coat in a way, so I think this would be a dress I could wear for more cold evenings or perhaps in the Winter (just indoors!).

Favorite no 2: Hobbs Elodie Dress

On sale! I've always been a sucker for red and black, and stripes. So how can I not like this? It looks warm and comfy as well, always a plus. Since we're getting close to the Christmas season, I think this would be nice for a casual Christmas dinner or a party with the girls. Not too much, but this girly and nice. I also love how it will show off your killer curves!

Favorite no 3: Hobbs - Gracie Dress

Again.. it's black and red, and it has a bow on it. What's not to like? Also Christmas appropriate! I think this little dress is super girly and cute, without it being pink and sparkly. I also think it would suit a rockabilly girl. It's sassy and cute, but still a bit rock'n'roll. Perfect! This piece is also on sale!

Favorite no 4: Phase Eight - Cissy Floral Dress

We can't have Christmas all year around, so let's jump to my second favorite season, the Summer. Floral prints = always a Summer winner. I also love the top and sleeves in lace, how cute! As a I-have-pretty-tattoos-but-no one-sees-them-because-I-hate-bare-arms girl, I love how lace can still cover you up but also reveal your tattoos. A dress like this would be perfect for more formal arrangements when perhaps tattoos are frowned upon (family parties anyone?), but you wouldn't feel to covered up and awkward either. Love it! This is also on sale!

Favorite no 5: Phase Eight - Rosamund Dress

Here's an option for those of you who likes having bare arms! I love the green on black, and of course, the flowers. This dress could also be combined with a cardi for the colder days. I actually really like this dress, despite it being sleeveless. I've always loved more darker colors, and even though this is a floral pretty dress it could quickly turn either rockabilly or rock'n'roll with the right accessories! And of course, a big plus, this is on sale as well.

As many of you may know, I've never been a dresses kinda girl, but that was the old me. And after searching through House of Fraser's website, I wish that a) I was rich and could spend all my money on clothes instead of food and b) that I still lived in Belfast so I could pop into the store and try on clothes for hours. But for now, I' off to do some more online window shopping....

The hard workers vs the lazy bastards

Hello!

Today I want to write about something that's been bugging me for a while. During the last two months I've been very busy at university with my new course, arts and crafts. I have noticed some things along the way that's really bugging me, and now I want to share them with you.. Is it just me?

We started off in mid-August, and the first week we started with assignments and projects. After just a few weeks we were drowning in work, and many late days were spent in the work shops finishing wooden projects or in the drawing area to finish written work or creative assignments. Some days I went home for dinner, and even went back to school just to finish things and I stayed until 8-9 pm some evenings.

It's now getting close to Christmas, and we'll be getting our exam in November, plus all of our previous work has to be done and sent in to be approved, so we'll be qualified (and allowed) to take the written exam. I have still not missed one single assignment deadline, and I'm pretty proud of that, even though I've been swamped with work some days. I've handed in everything, I've done what I'm supposed to do and I've done my part when it comes to the group assignments we've had.

The thing is... I still see people around be complaining about the amount of work we have, how difficult it is, the deadlines are coming too quickly, we don't get enough help and they're freaking out about the exam. Yes, I'm gonna be honest and say that I'm freaking out about the exam as well. I guess that's pretty normal when it comes to important stuff like exams. As I mentioned, I've handed in everything on time, but what happens to those who are freaking out about every single little thing?

They get a new deadline. One of the biggest assignments was to make a book that documented the whole process of making a traditional building of out wood. I sat the night before the deadline struggling with printing photos, writing notes and putting it all together so I had something to hand in the next morning. What did I get? A "okay, just put it here". Then a bunch of people said with their sad eyes "we haven't finished it yet......" Teacher goes, all right, I'll give you another 2 weeks then to hand it in. So that's how it works? You do the job and get nothing, and you don't bother and get another 2 weeks? Unfair.

That's just one of the things that's happened. One day the teacher said "if you don't bring this and this to class tomorrow, you might as well leave". I rushed to get things sorted, and the next morning people showed up with nothing. The teacher ran away to his office to collect things for them to borrow. Why do I bother?

We also have this 100% attendance rule in our class. You have to show up every day, and if you get over 20% absence you can't take the exam. They were very strict on this the first day, and still, I haven't been late. Normally the teacher do the list in the morning to make sure everyone's there. Sometimes it's very obvious that people are missing and what do the teacher do? Doesn't care and skip the list. So that morning maybe 5 people, the same 5 who's always late or never showing up, get's away with taking a day off. What to the rest of us get, the ones who always shows up? Nothing.

I also love the "can I borrow your work to bring home? I'm stuck". Of course!! I just spend 4 hours on this stupid drawing, of course you can take it home and copy it, just because you're lazy!! EHM.. NO. No, you can not take my drawings home. Do it yourself. I mean seriously people? It's okay to ask for help, and I have no problems helping you. But taking my work home so you can copy it? I don't think so.

I'm not gonna go through the whole list with things that bothers me, because I don't want to sound like the biggest cry baby of them all. It just annoys me when we're supposed to be adults in university, can get away with being so childish and lazy. I think it's really unfair that the ones who always tries their best and always hand in assignments on time never gets a thank you or a well done. But the ones who doesn't bother, just gets another 2 weeks.

The teacher announced last week that we should prepare ourselves for 8 hours of uni work every day during the exam period, and someone said "oh.. 8 hours!?". Well if you did what you were supposed to from the start you a) wouldn't be in trouble now and b) 8 hours wouldn't be that much of a shock! Welcome to the real world. You have to put in the effort to get things done, that's just how it is. I know that I'm "just a student" and it's nothing compared to the real world with work and family etc, but still. But really?

So the big question is... is it just me putting too much into this? I sometimes feel like I'm one of the few people in class who actually makes an effort, and it almost upsets me when it's that easy to slack off but still get a new deadline etc. It's always nice to appreciated and to get a little thank you every now and then, but when it seems like the slackers get more help and "attention" for their work than the ones who works hard.. it makes you a bit gaaah why do I bother. Anyway, I know that I do the best and I know that I do that I'm supposed to do. I'm not gonna let the lazy b******s let me down. I'm gonna nail this course and my exams, and I'm gonna show them that hard work always pays off! :)

Goodies from Sourpuss Clothing

Hello people!

Over the Summer the sweet people over at Sourpuss Clothing sent me some stuff to review. With all the stress of packing all of my stuff into my car, driving across the country and rushing into university left me with a lot of things to do... and I completely forgot to do the review. I feel so bad, but hey, better late than never.

I've loved Sourpuss since I started getting into the rockabilly look, and they have so many cool things. Clothes, housewares, kids stuff plus more. I was so lucky to receive some kick ass rockabilly bathroom items!

So let's start...

Soap dispenser!

Now, I loved this one. I was tired of having the ugly dispenser you buy in the shop, and was thrilled to have a rockin' soap dispenser in my bathroom. Unfortunately... there was something wrong with the pump! It wouldn't pump soap, not even water. So I emailed Sourpuss and they were super friendly and are working on helping me out with either getting a new one, or something else. It's still a super cool item, and I was sad when I realized I couldn't fix it. I still kept it though!

Soap bar dish!

With the sad moment of the soap dispenser dying on me, I started using this instead. Finally I have somewhere to put all my fancy soap bars! It fits perfectly on my counter, and it makes my bathroom look pretty. It's quite big as well, so my massive L'Occitane soap can live there without any major problems. I hate it when they're so small that if you put the soap on it, it just slips and goes everywhere. Big plus for the size!

Rinse cup!

I don't use rinse cups... but still, I love this one. I almost want to use it as a tea cup or something. I now use the rinse cup as a home for the air freshener spray we keep in the bathroom, so even a can like that can look pretty.

Toothbrush holder!

Favorite item number 1! We had a horrible green toothbrush holder attached to the mirror (leaving a horrible mark) and it was small and weird. Now, look at this beauty! There's place for 2 toothbrushes, and one large space for other things you may want to put in there. I keep my flossing-thing and a small toothbrush in the large space. I put a piece of tissue in the bottom of it so it would be easier to clean. I love this toothbrush holder, and I think it looks cute next to my cupcake which stores my ear rings :)

I also received a red swallow shower curtain! I don't have a shower with a curtain, so I don't have any photos of it. I really wish I had a shower that could have a curtain though, but I'm keeping it in case I'll end up with a shower like that....some day. My bathroom now has a touch of rockabilly. I can't complain now, can I?

I've told you about my goal jeans, but I've also decided that a cardigan from Sourpuss will be my goal cardigan. I just haven't bought it yet. In case you want to see it, it's this one!

I think it's absolutely awesome!! So when I reach my goal weight, I will treat myself to this cardigan. There, I said it. Now I just need to lose the rest of the weight, hehe!

Just another happy post

Hey people!

It's not often that I blog twice a week... but I just wanted to do a little random post.

Sometimes I wonder what I've done to deserve being this happy. I've reached my first weight loss goal; I've lost 5 kilos. My next goal is another 5 kilos so I can reach my "Belfast weight" as I call it. My boyfriend has lost 8.5 kilos. I'm so proud of us!! :) Even the physio therapist working at the gym had noticed that I was working out a lot, and he could see the difference. It's nice to hear that from "strangers"! He was talking to my boyfriend while I was getting my gym bag, and of course he had to mention my GOAL JEANS! Fair enough I love having my goal jeans... I just don't want him to think about my jeans as well! Hehe I'm sure he's forgotten it already, but still. Just me being silly!

I got great feedback on my goal jeans blog post from earlier this week, both on Twitter and Facebook. I've found a new cool online store as well if you're still on the hunt for goal jeans, or any other item of clothing you want to make your goal. As I mentioned in the previous post, it doesn't have to be a pair of jeans, it could be anything! So that's today's little inspiration tips when it comes to motivation.

I really enjoy my life at the moment. I love the new energy the gym gives me, I love that I'm eating healthy and I love the effect it has on my skin. My hair is also happier. I can't complain! I just died my hair as well, this time using Manic Panic's "Infra Red". I love how it turned out! I don't generally use Manic Panic for other than refreshing my color, but this time I decided to try a full dye. I'm in love!

I got myself a new job last week as well. I now work part-time as a florist in a local flower shop! I used to work with flowers before my accident, and it was really great to be back after 6 years. My first day was busy, and I got to make this decoration for a funeral. On my first day!! Pretty decent job even after 6 years... The boss actually decided that this one should be from the family (she had made 2 others) since mine was the prettiest! Sorry about the cell phone camera quality, it was the only camera available at the moment before it was sent off to the funeral. Even though I was in horrible pain after a full day on my feet (broken ankle still bothering me), I loved it.

I've also met two amazing girls at uni, and I'm so happy to have them in my life. They're the ones keeping me sane from the madness going on in our class. It's basically a bunch of know it all's and weirdos. And me. It's really great to have a couple of friends that's on your "level" when it comes to pretty much everything. Without them (and you know who you are!!) I'd probably die with anger and frustration, but they always make me think about how silly it is and then we have a laugh instead. We'll only be in the same class for a year, but I am very sure that these two lovely ladies will be in my life forever :)

That's it for today. Just a little happy cheery post. I'm now off to kiss my boyfriend, and then hunt for some chocolate. It's Saturday, it's allowed!

I can also reveal that I've just emailed a tattoo shop in Holland, so I might be getting a new tattoo very soon! But I'll save that for another blog post....

Not just any jeans

Hey guys!

I wanted to do a little blog post about my new "life" and how I keep myself motivated. As many of you know, both me and my boyfriend joined the gym and we've started eating healthy. When you're on a weight loss journey like this it can be tricky to stay motivated to go to the gym every single day.... but I have a solution.

I was back home with my parents this Summer and I found a pair of jeans that I couldn't fit. I made them my goal jeans, and I said to myself that they would fit for Christmas. After just 4 weeks I tried them on, and they were no longer my goal jeans. I closed the button and there I was. No muffin top, nothing. I just looked really nice and they were just my "new" size. Of course this made my day (and week!) but I realised that I needed new goal jeans.

One Sunday me and my boyfriend were out for lunch, and the local shopping center was open. I saw some jeans on a rack and a big sign saying "BEFORE 1199,-, NOW 150,-". In British pounds that's a before prize of £130, and a now prize of £16. BARGAIN! They were gorgeous and I loved the material and color, and I just knew that these jeans would be my new goal jeans. The only problem, the sizes were really small.. As in skinny coat hanger small. That's not happening, but I decided to buy the "biggest" pair they had, even if that would be many sizes too small for my current size.

I went home and placed the jeans next to my underwear, so I see them every day. When I'm having a bad day and just want to eat a lot of chocolate or drink something loaded with sugar, I think about the jeans. One day, they will fit.

Since I bought those jeans my mindset has changed. Before I could think "well just a little bit wouldn't hurt", now I just think "the jeans.....the jeans" and I let the sugary thoughts go. I feel that I eat healthier and less than I used to, and I also feel like I've attacked my lack of willpower and I'm now more in control of my own emotions. Do I a) need chocolate, or b) want chocolate? The answer is b), I just want it, I don't need it. The thought of those lovely bargain jeans of mine makes me choose option B every time and I know I've made the right decision. I promise that ONE DAY I will post a photo of me wearing those jeans. I guarantee you!! :)

The whole point of this little post is that it's important to have something that keeps you motivated.

I go to the gym every day, I do yoga twice a week and I eat strictly and healthy. I don't feel like ruining that by eating a chocolate bar. By thinking about the jeans, and how I will feel when I close that button makes my willpower stronger. And for every time the willpower grows, the choices get easier. It's like a muscle! By training it, it gets stronger! Your motivation doesn't have to be a pair of jeans. It could be anything really, it could be a top or it could be your wedding day and you want to look great. It's up to you to find something that motivates you to keep going, and in my case, it's the jeans I got for £16. I challenge you to find a motivation for yourself and give it a go. I am pretty sure you'll discover that having a goal to work towards will help you a lot on your way! :)

I will even take the first step for you.

It's also easy to browse for your new favorite pair with the little menu on the left side where you pick what type of jeans you're after. Me for example love boot cut jeans, and by simply clicking "boot cut" I find exactly what I'm looking for :) Easy!! They're also affordable, and yeah, what more can a girl ask for?

How can I vary my rockabilly style from day to day?

Hello all!

I am so sorry for the lack of blogging lately. I have been incredibly busy with uni work, and I've been behind on so many assignments over the last few weeks... I've finally had time to catch up this week, and I'm back on track again. Uni is going very well, and so is my life. The weight is coming off so quickly, I can't believe it. I'm still going to the gym 5 days a week, but new for this week is that I've started doing yoga twice a week as well. So that'll be 7 sessions in the gym every week. The best part is that I absolutely love it, and I also love seeing the results of my hard work.

Today's topic is taken from a question I posted to my Facebook page. I asked what you guys would want to read about, picked some favorites and then my readers voted on the topic they liked the most. So, today will be about how to vary your rockabilly style each day. I know that many of you are new to the rockabilly world, and that you're wondering if you have to wear leopard print and red lips every day. The answer is no.

I believe that the rockabilly style is a big part of my life and my appearance, but it doesn't define who I am. I express my style in the way I dress, and I also dress after my mood and what's on the plan for each day. I started off as a punk rock girl, I've been a tad bit into the metal look and I'm now fully embracing the rockabilly style. The thing is, I still keep some punk rock elements in my daily style. I also wear girly things, pink stuff and still feel like a rockabilly girl. I make me and my personality fit the rockabilly look, not the other way around.

I should have taken photos of different looks, but I will try to explain them as good as I can. My look may change, but there's some essential things I wear every day. I am a jeans girl, and I wear jeans every day. I also love my cardigans and my Bettie fringe. Those three things are present every day. It's what I do with the rest that matters when it comes to changing my rockabilly look around each day.

Let's take a normal week...

Day 1 - Rockabilly and rock'n'roll: Dark jeans, Converse shoes, a skull and roses top, leopard cardigan (small pattern) and my hair curled with a leopard bow on the side. The makeup would be the classic eyeliner, dark brown/golden eye shadow and a light lip gloss.

Day 2 - This is my "I'm running late" look. Still me, still a touch of rockabilly: Jeans, Kawasaki shoes (so comfy), loose black top with polka dots, plain black cardigan, hair down with yesterday's leftover curls, smokey eyes but no eyeliner.

Day 3 - Casual rockabilly: Cropped jeans with tights/stockings under (it's cold!), leopard Converse shoes, loose leopard top, black cardigan with cherries and polka dots, messy hair, perfect Bettie fringe, eyeliner with smaller flicks, red lip stain to add color.

Day 4 - Full on "standard" rockabilly: Jeans, Converse shoes, a full on leopard print top, a stripey woolen cardigan with red swallows on the chest, Rosie the Riveter styled hair, red lips and eyeliner with massive flicks. The Rosie the Riveter hairstyle is perfect for bad hair days, and since I try to wash my hair just once a week to keep the color, this is a great option. You still look great, and no one can see your greasy hair. The fringe is easily refreshed with dry shampoo.

Day 5 - Nothing special, but still with a rockabilly twist: Jeans, Converse (black or leopard), loose black top, leopard cardigan (big pattern), Rosie hair from yesterday, eyeliner flicks, dark-ish eye shadow and plenty of mascara on lower and upper lashes. This look is more of a look that wouldn't necessarily set you off as a typical rockabilly girl, but a girl who likes to stand out from the crowd.

Weekends....well, that totally depends on what we're doing. If we're staying at home, it's jammies and hoodies and little makeup. If we're going out, I'd probably wear a "full on rockabilly look" (day 4).

In addition to the "looks" I've described for you guys, I wear cute socks and nice underwear, just because I like it. No one will see it, but I know it's there. I know I have cherry print socks on, and it makes me happy. I also accessorize with necklaces, bracelets, ear rings/plugs, hair bows or clips. I never plan my outfit before I get dressed in the morning. I put on my makeup depending on how my day is going to be. If I have a long day, I wouldn't put on too much eyeliner for example, since it would probably smudge after a good while. If I have a short day in uni but have plans with a friend afterwards, I put some more effort in to my hair and makeup. I do this based on how I feel, how much time I have, what my plans are.

I'm not afraid of wearing the same clothes two days in a row. If I like my outfit one day, there's nothing stopping me from wearing it one more day. It doesn't have to be hard changing your style around every day either. Just by changing your top you've got a whole new look! That would probably be my number 1 tip. Figure out what you are most likely to wear every day (for me; jeans and a cardi) and play around with shoes and tops, make up and hair. You don't have to be stuck in the stripey navy cardigan and leopard top to be a rockabilly girl. It's up to you as well!

I know this post turned out to be a small book. The thing is, I really want to spread the word about you making the rockabilly look suit you, not the other way around. You don't have to change yourself and what you like just because you want to be a rockabilly girl as well. I don't walk around looking like a perfect rockabilly girl every day, but I still define my style as rockabilly. I feel that the style feel seem more genuine if you've made it your own, and you'll also feel way more comfortable in your look and appearance if you feel like yourself as well. Putting on a mask hiding the true you just to have the "rockabilly look" won't last for long.

Hello all!

I wanted to do a little update on how my life is at the moment. I have so many things to tell you about!

First of all, as you may know, I started going to the gym. I've been going there now for 4 weeks, 5 days a week. Yes, you read that right. I've been hitting the gym for 5 days a week for nearly a month now and I still love it. I actually really love it. Many people struggle to keep up their gym routine as well as living a busy life. Since I started uni again, I have been very busy myself with long days at school working on projects and also working every now and then after school. The thing is though, I've made the gym a part of my life. I bring my gym bag in the car to school, and I go directly to the gym when school's over for the day. I then go home and work on whatever school work I have, and in the evening I pick up my fiancé after his gym session.

It's not that hard! When you start seeing the results, as well as feeling stronger and fitter, it's not hard at all going there every day. And believe me, it's been worth it. My weight has dropped (not much yet, but still some) and I can clearly see the difference on my body and in my face. I love it!

Oh hello there new face. Well, at least goodbye double chin!

I had a bit of a wow-experience this morning. I had a pair of jeans that I've been keeping in my closet back home since it didn't fit. They were brand new, but I couldn't even close the button. I decided that these jeans would be my goal jeans for Christmas. Although, since I was feeling so great this morning, I decided to try them on... and I closed the button easily! They actually fit after just 4 weeks. So yeah, 4 weeks = 1 jeans size down. Thanks to that little experience I've been feeling super great today. Like really really great!

My hard work at the gym has also paid off in better skin, so I don't need to cover all imperfections with tons of foundation and concealer each morning. Wearing less make up also makes my skin even happier, so it's basically a win-win situation. My mood is also way better, and I find myself smiling all day long. I laugh a lot and I smile more. I actually got told off by my lecturer for being too happy in class.... That was a bit of a mood killer to be honest, I was just having a great day and she yelled at me! Someone needs to get laid....

I've made some new cool friends at school as well, and my school days are totally not boring! We're always doing something, either building things out of wood, drawing something or making things out of clay. It's just fun! :) I've also started working as a teacher in Norwegian for a group of foreign students. It's only for 7 weeks though, but it's really fun and a great experience as well. I'm very interested in languages and other cultures, so this is perfect! I have five students; two from China, one from the Philippines, one from Moldova and one from Malawi. They're here to study Norwegian so they can apply to Norwegian universities. We hang out 2 hours a week so they can practice their conversation skills in Norwegian with a Norwegian person (that'll be me). They're really good already, and they've only been here for a month. They are also great fun and super friendly to be around, so we're having a great time while I'm working and they're studying :) I also learn cool things like how Norwegian words are similar to words in their native language etc. Both parts are learning something new!

Me and my fiancé are also happy together. We're going on holiday in November to Holland! It will be our 2 year anniversary thing + we're meeting up with one Belfast mate and another friend who lives there. I can't wait! I've never been to Holland before, and I'm really looking forward to meet our friends again. I also plan to do some shopping while I'm there (since I need smaller clothes!) and probably do some touristy stuff if I can force my other half to join me... hehe!

Winners of the Rockin' Rockabilly Giveaway!

Hello all!

So, today's the big day! The giveaway was a great success, and as always, I wish that everyone could win. Unfortunately that's not possible, but this time one person won the main prize and three others will receive some goodies as well.

I decided to announce the winners in a video this time. My boyfriend picked the winners, and they're all revealed in this video...
