Royal Pirates finally had their first public performance for 2013, yesterday at Club FF in Hongdae. They performed with 3 other bands, with their set scheduled at 8:30. Here are some photos and videos from the show. (We'll update this post as more photos and videos come up online.)

Royal Pirates to Perform at Club FF

Heads up Royal Treasures!

For those of you in Korea, this is your chance to finally see Royal Pirates live.

Twitter user @eddiehwangs (a DJ from the club) posted Club FF's line up for June 16 which includes Royal Pirates.

According to Last.fm
"... Club FF is one of the few places in Seoul where live, local indie music is performed. It is located in the bustling Hongdae district, not far from the Hongdik University metro stop. The space is small and delightfully dingy, with a lounge bar above and music venue below. The mood is welcoming and attracts excitable Korean fans and curious westerners alike."

No confirmation yet from Royal Pirates, but we'll keep you updated.

Royal Pirates Starts Official Recording for their Album

"RP's first EP recording starts!"

A very good news, my friends. Royal Pirates has started recording for their first EP today! We know it's been long awaited, now it's here. James actually wanted to be mysterious and cryptic, giving us only a short status update this morning that reads:

And when asked if it means debut, he still kept mum and only said:

Open the champagne and party! Royal Pirates is going to debut soon. I don't know how many times I've said and written that, but now it's for sure. I can't wait to get my hands on that EP once its out and hear what they have been working on so hard these last 2-3 years.

Sneaking this post while at work. This can't wait till later. haha. Poor me can't squeal and scream, I can only grin stupidly in front of my laptop.

It's been a long long time, hasn't it? First of all, a very belated Happy 2013!

All three of them have been laying low. (I'd like to think of it as a preparatory period)

James' Trip back to LA

On the 30th of Sept, James suddenly announced his arrival in LA. The date coincided with Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) so I assumed that he took some time off to visit his family.

Thanks pops- back for a bit.

Royal Pirates Visits Maiim Vision Village

If you are a fan of the drama Secret Garden, you must know this place. The Maiim Vision Village is a filming location for the drama, and is actually a corporate training center for the cosmetic and health food brand Maiim. The ultra modern house of Joowon (Hyun Bin) and the estate that he owns in the drama is the village.

Tonight, Royal Pirates shared some photos from their visit. Looks like a celebration!

Moonchul's Birthday Treat

September 2nd is almost over and so is Moonchul's birthday! Wait, have you greeted him? It was fun while it lasted; trending #OnceInABlueMOONchul on Twitter with random facts and photos.

Moonchul did not fail to surprise us when he uploaded this video onto Youtube. According to him, he just started learning the ukulele today. Unbelievable, isn't it? He did a short cover of Psy's Gangnam Style, which has caught the world by storm, giving it his own flavor. If you haven't watched it yet, please click on the video below.

Looks like RP has been busy attending concerts (recently, SMTOWN but remember BEAST's Beautiful Show?) and now, even the taping of SBS's U & I.

This is a variety program which combines a talk show which music performances. Artists are able to sit comfortably and talk openly. This show is hosted by Lee Hyori and Jung Jaehyung, a music composer. (source: soompi)

A Trip Down Memory Lane for Sooyoon

Sooyoon left South Korea with his family to the States when he was 10 and 13 years down the road, he has now returned to his country of birth. On this day, Sooyoon decided to visit the place where he grew up as a kid. No doubt, his trip brought nostalgia.

He tweeted some photos during his trip.

Looks like Sooyoon had some fun visiting places he used to frequent as a kid, especially since it's been such a long time being away.

Royal Pirates and Ukiss' Kevin are Twitter Buddies?

We've seen Sooyoon and James following Ukiss' Eli and Kevin on Twitter for a few weeks now and have been wondering if they really know each other.Well, it looks like they do, as Kevin just followed and mentioned James on Twitter! I'm sure Ukiss and Royal Pirates fans are pleased to know about this.

Why does every conversation with Royal Pirates these days revolves around Pikachu? Is there some kind of a virus going around Korea where when infected, you suffer from chronic acute Pikachu obsession? haha!

Pikachu says "Cool, everyone wants me!"

It will be good to see a collaboration in the future. It will be pretty interesting to know how that would sound.

Sooyoon's Rain Woes

So it seems like Sooyoon is not very fond of the rain.

Sooyoon says hmmmpf.. LOL. This is so old.

Fans then replied suggesting various things like watching a movie, listening to music, reading a book, dancing in the rain, or just plainly sitting down and staring at nothing. He replied to each one, much to the delight of his fans, and ended with recording a video while playing his guitar.

And you thought you'll see him in there? Naah. I think it's his window. Here's the link to the original video that I can't embed here in blogger. He still wants the rain to stop though. I wonder where he wants to go or what he want's to do outside when he can always do this:

Practice Photo Shoot with Sooyoon and Moonchul

Yesterday, we were given a peek into how Royal Pirates' training schedule looks like. Today, while James is taking his bass lessons (according to the schedule), Sooyoon and Moonchul are up for a practice photo shoot for their camera and modelling training.

Sooyoon posted a couple of test shots from the said practice shoot and asked fans how they like it.

Concept: Look down. Literally.

With all these training on their schedule, they sure are getting geared up for what has to come. They can't just sound good, they have to look good in front of the camera too, right?? I see you guys nodding.

A Peek into RP's Schedule

Ever wondered what Royal Pirates' schedule looks like? Well, today, Team RP uploaded a collage of four different pictures, focusing on their schedule in July.

다음 스케쥴: 녹음실로 can be translated as Next schedule: Recording Studio

It seems that a typical day would start from 11.30am and last up till 8.00pm. Now I know why James has time to run in the morning. All three of them can either have individual schedules or one which requires all such as team practice. What I'm really curious about is the interview slotted on Tuesday and Thursday.

Update: Pose involves camera works and modelling. K/L stands for Korean lesson. Interview is speech and media interviews. B/L stands for bass lessons while PT is for Personal Training. All these are training.

The photo in the bottom left hand corner is quite small so I can't make out what it is, but I do see a self-drawn calendar for the months of July and August.

The bottom middle picture contains these words: 준비된 자만이 승리한다 which means 'Only the prepared will win.' Around those words are words such as vocals, guitar, bass, drums, physical training and a few others which I could not read. Quite a nice message to be hanging around in a training room for motivation., don't you think?

The bottom right hand corner has Sooyoon writing on what I assume to be a weekly calendar.

RP's schedule is pretty packed with different kinds of training. Doesn't this just make you anticipate for their debut even more? RP 화이팅!

Moonchul Covers Verbal Jint's 충분히 예뻐

Since July 8, fans have been eagerly waiting for a new video as Team RP teased fans with a tweet.

Of course, fans eagerly re-tweeted and waited. Just 4 days after Royal Pirates posted Sooyoon's drum cover, here comes another one! I'm quite sure Royal Pirates fans are very very happy right now.

In this short but sweet video Moonchul covers Verbal Jint's 충분히 예뻐 (Chungbunhi Yeppeo) and shows us why he is the vocalist. Personally, I find that Moonchul's singing improved and his vocal range widened - not that it was bad before, but this a very welcomed improvement.

Sooyoon Drums to Chris Brown's Turn up the Music

Remember when Sooyoon shared Chris Brown's Turn up the Music? Then fans started asking him to dance to the song, to which he replied that he can only drum to it. When he said he can, he truly can. Here is Sooyoon drumming to the song! Watch and be awed.

Royal Pirates to Open a Show for Danny Jung

Earlier today, Team RP revealed that Royal Pirates will be having a live performance in Seoul on the first of June and has started a countdown to the day of the performance. A few hours ago, they began dropping hints on Twitter about the show and who they will be opening for.

A little help from our ever dependable Google held the key to these clues and led us to this:

The show will be Royal Pirates' second public live performance announced since they came to Korea. As stated by team RP, Royal Pirates will be opening the show for a famous Korean saxophonist, Danny Jung.

The show, romance Language, will start at 7:00 PM, Friday, June 1 2012. Ticket prices are at 110 000 won for R seats, 80 000 for A seats, and 66 000 won for S. For more information go to the event's page in AX-Korea and Interpark for tickets.

Danny Jung had three albums with Sony Music including Make A Wish, Danny’s first hit record, Produced by Grammy Award Artist Nathan East and Sam Purkin. Danny also obtained an 8 week playlist spot on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Chart. Know more about Danny on his Facebook page.

Royal Treasures, the long wait is finally starting to come to an end as Team RP has just announced that Royal Pirates has started working on their album. This came a few days after James teased fans with an interesting post that got fans guessing on what is to come.

If James is excited for that, for sure fans will be too right?

Moonchul, James, and Sooyoon will surely be busy recording in the coming weeks and finishing the album may take months so everybody just stay put, relax, and wait for further updates from them.

Debut is definitely coming near... :D

Do you remember last year when Royal Pirates had a series of shows in LA? Yes? Well good news! Looks like the curtain has been lifted and the go signal has been given to Royal Treasures to post fancams of RP's original songs.
