Tragic Event in Japan

I just wanted to take the time to say that my heart goes out to the friends and families affected by the events unfolding in Japan at this time.

My school, Central Washington University, hosts a small population of Japanese students from our sister school in Tokyo. I can’t imagine what they’re going through right now, and I hope they can find some comfort in each others presence as well as through the CWU student body.

I’m a total geek about anime, but it’s kind of a secret, so don’t tell anyone.

Definitely a fan of Ouran High School Host Club (pictured above). If you click on the picture, it will take you to a site where you can watch episodes in either English or Japanese with English subtitles.

If there are any fellow anime lovers out there, particularly those who might still be in the closet about it like me, feel free to recommend your favorites!

I’ve set up this blog out of boredom.

Boredom and procrastination. I have a ton of homework tonight and no real motivation to start. I’ve also just downed a 16-0z energy drink, so sleep is definitely out of the question.

I don’t really know what this blog is going to be about. I’m not an expert on anything, really. I’m not an artist, so there won’t be any edgy nude-y photographs or abstract oil pastel penises… that’s what makes art hip, right?

I’m very private about my writing, especially when it’s not finished, so you won’t be subjected to it (yet).

Heck, I don’t even really fully know how to operate this blog stuff, so you might never even SEE this post… it’ll be lost in cyberspace. Forever.

Eh, we’ll see how this goes. Maybe I’ll write about funny experiences I’ve had. Or how my day went. Or some new lame joke I heard but secretly (not so secretly) adored.

I have two pet rats. That’s a new little tidbit for you to chew on. Their names are Merlin and Zed and I love them. They’re both named after wizards! Merlin after, well, you know, and Zed is short for Zeddicus Zu’l Zorander, who is a wizard on ‘The Legend of the Seeker’.

I love that show.

God, I just reread that paragraph and realized how geeky it sounded. I’m very tempted to delete it.

Speaking of God, I’m a religious studies major, but I’m also an atheist. Is that weird? I like religion, but I don’t want to believe in it. It’s like saying “I like you, but I don’t want to be with you.”

Where was I going with this? Oh, yeah, so just because I’m a religious studies major, don’t think I’m gonna be all preachy and churchy. ‘Cause I’m not, and you can’t make me.

I’m also a sociology major.

I know. My career is pretty much a done deal after I graduate. Not.

That’s why I’ve got my writing as a fall back! That’s a smart move, right? Right?

Holy cow. There you go, my horrible memory in full display. Here I am talking about how much my memory sucks, and I forgot to get my laundry out of the dryer from three hours ago. And in a residence hall, that’s a dangerous game to play.

Anyway. Earlier tonight, it would have been great to have an Elephant’s (CAPITAL) memory when my friend Jessie was telling me where we were going to meet up.

I asked her three times where. And three times, she told me the student union building ballroom.

Where did I go?

The theater.

But it’s okay. My friends accept me for who I am.

So… yeah. First post. Woo. I’m going to try and figure tumblr out now.
