"The Sting Of Silence"

I feel the sting of your silence, of

you having nothing that is left in which

to say

I weep alone in this tomb that was once

a home

Ghostly visions surround me,

and the voices of former times still

speak to these tormented ears

Where once there were only sweet kisses,

and eyes that told me how divine love can be,

all that remains is the emptied presence of a

soul succumbed by loneliness

Silence can be a horrid foe; a feign without

conscience

For how does once convince what cannot be

heard nor seen to have compassion enough

to cease from speaking, and allow the sounds of life there

rightful place again?

I see the sadness which burdens your soul

I see the beauty which you hide so well
I long for that which you long
To be seen
My precious heart, sweet pretender,
I see you, and I take no mind of the scars you have, deeply
For we are all wounded souls praying that another find us, beneath that where we hide, and heal us
I see you hoping that you see me, and seeing me
Heal me, as well

"That Which I Recall Is That Which I Keep"

Sat I a lonely night, and gazed above

into the heaven’s vast

Pondering the majesty of what I beheld, thinking,

as did I do, of a girl no longer I could claim to

recall her name

Only faded her face did I, and considered

her a little more

Yet, as I tarried there, upon the ground of which

I sat, the very place where I had done so long

ago, heard I the stars that did recall

And these lights eternal, there, said unto me:

remember when?

And recollection found me then

My heart became as warm, as joyously sweet

visions whispered secrets held I once dear

A glee filled smile found my face

Delight then, after, entered my soul

Grateful I spoke aloud to the sky above, and blew

it a kiss for having been so kind

Leaving after with refreshing joy, I purposed that

I would return again

For faded times make gray one’s past, as life moves

onward, one tomorrow from the last

Yet the stars never do

They remain as true be to true; there for us

no matter when

T’is why have I so long now made a return,

as have I always, again and again,

less what once was so colorful a love become

unknown to me I forget, that love, and have

none else that I should keep, to have within, to

give another all of me

"Beyond The Brier of Wilted Things"

Beyond the tree line, past the wily brier,

saw I wilted a remnant of a former thing

One that once stood tall, proud, majestic

in its grander times, when life had been new,

simpler an undertaking, and more easy

to endure

Yet age, and the ceaseless ravages of life,

became more than it could bear, and weariness

replaced strength, resignation dreams

I looked beyond, further still, in hope that there

I might find a better state, but, nay, none that I

could tell

I held my gaze a moment more, then turned around

afraid that if I purposed to effort harder still I might

see what awaits me there

Not now my strange and foreign friend, not now, nor, for

a while

Before another see me such a wilted thing, faded

and forsaken of all my dreams, I have yet mistakes

to do, and triumphs to attain

A life to live, and regrets to hide from my soul

before I too sit beyond the wily brier, and ponder dreams

"Yesterday"

Remember when, back then, the petals of

red and yellow that once adorned every

thought you had of me?

How red was the fire that lit up your eyes,

and yellow the safety of my arms?

Remember then, back when, the scent of

rain and rainbows?

How the rain was the love we made, and

the rainbows the dreams that changed in

every way how we saw tomorrow?

Remember?

I do, every yesterday

I miss the scent and colors we used to be,

and every once in a while, when I see a faded

memory walk by, I’ll smile

I’ll stop what I’m doing, pause as the moment’s

breeze quickens my heart, and I’ll think of us,

of all those tomorrows of fragrant air, and find

myself grateful for this broken heart

Without it, I can’t help but to believe that if not for

then, back when, how gray and stale in between might

have been up until now

"You Fade Away"

Once I called to you in the dark,

when alone was the hardest part

Once I felt that all was gone, but

I was wrong

One day I woke to see the sun, smiling

down on me

I felt a love I had never seen

Once I was a broken heart, so torn

apart, but not today

Yes I had cried to the God above

I swore, you, I would always love,

but love needs love

Now I dance in a gleeful place, where

heartache doesn’t come this way

Sometimes I’ll stop and think of us that

way, of what went away, how now I’m

okay, and then you fade away

Yes once I cried with a broken heart,

but I’m okay

“Suffer Not The Children”

And still the children cry, for a sun that

no longer shines

Not in the eyes of those innocents trapped

within a torrent of an unforgiving rain, by

hearts so cut they only know to bleed

a sadness, as profound as is their confusion,

that screams wondering why, yet, is not

heard because of the thunderous sound

of vile heartbreak, and delusion that sincerely

believes its cruel vindication is justified in hateful

self deception

Their life is a storm that never ends,

a hail of never ending pain, as they watch

in horror the god’s they once so revered

battle against the light, and dig mindless

graves, deeply

And still the children cry, for weeping is

all they know, and weeping is all they

shall ever know, in their darkened worlds

where the sun no longer shines

"Beyond A Whisper"

Each moment longs for the next,

and, yet, again, until it tires finding

only then that which it sought

all along

Each breath is but a whisper seeking

voice to the sound of its soul, as

quietly it wonders what it means

to be heard

Each night awaits the coming day,

the chance to see a thing called

tomorrow, always hoping that come

a chance to find within it grace

Oh, woe is me, with my foolish thought,

who believed so truly that love could

last forever

In days like these, of broken hearts,

the sun is my least best friend, with

its silly grin, always seeing the best in

So easy to do, when its only always

all that warmth, and afraid

But, that’s okay

"A Change Of Seasons"

Winter’s kiss bid adieu to Fall’s gentle

refreshing of Summer’s hot

And like they, our season had changed,

became the finale of a love affair sparked

by the tiny fire of Spring that became the

inferno of Summer’s love, only to consume

itself, until its embers slowly grew ever colder,

and succumbed to the blizzard of passion’s demise

Yet, Spring shall come upon us again, and

we shall bask in the heated glow of Summer

as before, and Fall, that sweet friend who’s

caress we adored, shall again remind us of

the coming cold

Will we this time ignore, as did we last, to hold

ourselves ever closer, or shall we seek our warmth

"I Run Away"

Yesterday I had a dream; I closed my

eyes so I could see

Swimming through a fantasy, I belonged,

there’s nothing wrong, to believe

I went to heaven where the angels play

I stopped by hell along the way

It’s all the same

People laugh in their deepest pain

I went back home where I belong,

had ran away

I danced in a summer rain, beneath the tears

of my regret

I cried myself awake again,

looked around, but all that I could see,

were the scars, of yesterday, oh so real

I closed my eyes and had a dream,

again today, but nothing’s changed

She is a light far off, dimly seen

in the darkest of places

She is an echo of a distant voice

beckoning ”come”

She is a promise waiting to be kept,

to be held dear by a lonley heart

longing to find her

She adorns herself with hope

Her poise sustained by affection

Her delight the offering she freely

gives

Her name is one said in whispers,

softly spoken, by hearts that know her

grace

She is love, and her arms are always

open, eternally patient, and her embrace

one of care

She is the warmth we all seek in the cold

of bitter days

Her light shows us that no darkness so dark,

nor pit so deep, nor place so far, is beyond her

affection

She is love, and by her, are we all in some way

We met in some far away place,

in some far away dream, where

stars sing to the sky, and the

moonlight watching the show sits

back and smiles

Okay, so it wasn’t quite like that,

as a matter of fact

Truth be told, it was at her girlfriend’s

home

It was raining outside

There had been nothing pretty or

romantic about the sky, and moonlight

What moonlight?

But, there she was

Her make up was gone

Her friend on the phone, and me

sitting there looking like an idiot

Then saying to her hello, and in

that awkward moment, to myself

proving it so

But, then, to my surprise, she smiled

I fell in love right then

Game over

That was it

Stick a fork in me; I was done

As for as, from then til now, why

or how, you don’t need to know

We just fell in love

Mostly thanks to me, acting

stupidly, foolishly, maybe got

her feeling sorry for me

I do not know

But, this I do

I smiled her way, and

she smiled back in mine

It was the most romantic

thing ever dreamed, that ever

happened, by a lovely someone,

to a no-one, to a schmuck,

like me

at our pain, and whisper gentle

as the hope we hold which longs

to persevere

Have you ever seen a river flow

in the eyes of a Southern girl, how

hazel and brown kiss the sun, and

forever seems a blink away?

Thin and lazy, they sass the night,

and tease the moonlight with their

smiles

Bourbon Street tells their tale, how

they take your money, by a neon

sign

They dance to the records played on

your heart, before they slip away into

the night

Creole ladies, so heavenly, they run

to know you, a gentle kiss is their

goodbye

You’ll love them forever, for a day

Bayou babies, fun and frail, drink

so hard their fill of laughter

Sweet aromas of no regret, their

memory will always hold you

Love cuts that way, often not very

Deeply

Love hurts another way, nick by

Just enough,

But not so much, not

A look in the mirror, and realize

There’s no color to your face, no

Life within your eyes

Just a trace

That tell a story

Each a cut

A scar to listen to
