Abandoned {365 truths.}

It started with a box of quotes and an empty building. Well, several empty buildings, vacant store fronts, vehicles and collapsed barns. I have always been fascinated by the misplaced beauty of abandoned structures. I like to imagine that there is a story behind each one, a story full of life, love and loss, heartache, passion and tears.

I’ve been racking my brain for almost two years trying to come up with a way to document my passionate attraction towards these hauntingly beautiful pieces of history. As soon as I spotted the box of quotes in a down town Nashville antique shop, it became crystal clear. One quote per structure, per date, per place. My goal is simple: match 365+ quotes to 365+ abandoned structures.

It may take several years or several decades to complete my project. Either is fine. This is someone else’s story… through my lens.

Nashville, TN {Vacation – Day 5 – Bang Candy Company, Marathon Motors and Antique Archealogy }

Our last day of vacation! We went to Bang Candy Co. which was AWESOME… handmade and hand-dipped marshmallows I also loved the area that the shop was in – the old Marathon Motor Works! Most of the building was renovated into office buildings and shops, but they did have a small museum with a handful of different Marathon cars. There was also a really awesome antique shop: Antique Archealogy. It was REALLY neat and a great way how to spend the afternoon!

Nashville, TN {Vacation – Day 3 – Belle Meade Mansion & The Catbird Seat}

I was so excited about the Jack Daniels Distillery that I almost forgot to blog about our Saturday! It was slightly raining, but that didn’t ruin our day in the least. We went to the Belle Meade Mansion and then later at night went to The Catbird Seat for an AMAZING dinner.

The Catbird Seat was an 8 course dinner paired with drinks for each course. We didn’t know what we were getting for each course (surprise!) and everything was made right in front of us. At the end of the night we got a little “map” hand written of everything that was prepared for us. It was fun to see everything written out! I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone who is a little adventurous or wants to go above and beyond the normal date night dinner out We can’t wait to go back the next time we come to Nashville!

Nashville, TN {Vacation – Day 4 – Jack Daniels Distillery}

According to my “binder o’ fun,” we were to tour the Jack Daniels Distillery and then venture on to Chattanooga for some more vacation fun. Our day was cut short due to the fact that we had so much fun in Lynchburg! We toured the distillery and then strolled through historic downtown Lynchburg and spend hours going in and out of the shops as well as stopping for lunch. It was a great day, despite not having made it to Chattanooga! We made it back just in time for the Super Bowl to start
