Well, it is not only we do crazy stuffs to get likes on the social media but we also want to leave our foot prints everywhere we go. As for example writing on desks and rooms we used to leave. But in most extreme way we start to play with environment. Like here in the image above hikers use to leave their chewing gums posted after use on the rock in middle of Golan Heights(Gamla Hike), Israel. This is insensitive from us that we just leaving chewing gums in between beautiful hike just for show.

Hope we start paying respect to nature and hope for better sustainable future.

Yes, you are not mistaken. They are the cobblers of Istanbul. I loved the gait, yet so gentle attitude. Being an Indian who has closely watched the miserable lifestyle of cobblers in India it was surprise.
The tourism is at its boom in Turkey and they are quite popular among the tourists.

Drip irrigation has become synonymous to Israel. Coming from country where irrigation is generally associated with big dams, big canals and big irrigation projects but still fighting for water. Looking at efficient though expensive way of irrigation, were you are caring about every drop of water.Why should India care about this kind of irrigation? As the ground level of water is dropping very drastically, there should a thinking of conserving and efficiently using water.
In Israel they have drip and sprinkle irrigation not only for agricultural lands but for the corners and middle of small and big roads. Water is used to nourish plants which gives a aesthetic sense. With government taking care for beautification, people do not throw their garbage by the roadside.
Here you can find movable sprinklers which move automatically to other parts of field at particular time of the day. These sprinkles often open at time when there is less traffic and work automatically.
This how they have converted most part country green and country which was starving of food often exports fruits like oranges etc.

Where water make sense

Amman was the first stop on my maiden international flight. It is like an oasis from up in the sky. I was surprised to find no glass of water it the room. When I went for lunch they had a sumptuous buffet meal. In the middle of lunch I drank all from 200ml of mineral water served. It was too conspicuous too see my fellow passengers had drank only quarter of their water and saved it. I was searching for water everywhere. Though they had enough water for the wash room, but drinking water was missing. Even they sold only 200ml water bottles. Being from a country where we seldom feel scarcity of water it was odd for me. It was first time I realized I am in a region which has stark water scarcity still they are managing it well. Whereas in country of ours we are mismanaging and most of people are deprived good quality of water. At last I bought a 200ml water bottle at Pizza Hut at airport and quenched my thirst. In this part of world water is scarce you will only find people drinking from a small plastic cups and eating boiled stuffs.

The 'Jansunvayi' at Khargone district of MP where the district collector himself hears the plea of the common people. At least 2-3 of the people out of 15-20 got their grievances resolved on the spot.. Quite an effective way! Isn't it?

Delhi Dolby Surround Sound Baraat

How was I going to give my interview (through Skype) scheduled few hours later ? The whole room was vibrating and window glasses were rattling? Where was this shrill sound coming from? I was becoming worried that if the sound persisted for long it was going to be another disastrous interview.

On Sunday morning a baraat (marriage procession) crawled through the narrow lanes of Delhi (Nirman Vihar) led by a truck packed with bad woofers. Pep Bollywood numbers (from oo lala to chamak chhalo) played was cacophonous and piercing our ear drums. It was followed by the bridegroom on horse and the nonchalant women observing a few boys trying to tab their feet on the discordant mixture of sound.

It is for you to decide whether these kind of uncouth affairs to be allowed or not. If not, who is going to stop them?

Delhi's Double Trouble

The exploitation of ground water through thousands of small tube-wells drilled through the heart of ground all over Delhi is trivial. All houses have their own boring. Even some houses have several of these working 24*7. In some places the level of ground water has decreased more than 9 m in the past decade itself.[1] The situation is accentuated by the concrete floods. By the concretisation of all the spaces which blocks the water percolations has led to concrete floods. Wake up Delhites!! Conserve rain water. Adopt rain water harvesting now.

Long time, I bought my first sim card with lifetime connection in August 2006 worth Rs. 1100 (199 for sim card+999 for lifetime). Now in August 2011, you get new sim card, lifetime activation and bonus more than double talktime. What an era, Sirjee!!

Often we saw these images as obtained from SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). Look carefully these are not images taken from SEM. These are photographs of crystals obtained by recrystalization in conical flask. These can be seen from naked eye (fascination to watch).

Cementing the Cave: Loosing a geological site

Krem Mawmluh Cave is situated approximately half a kilometre west of Cherrapunjee adjacent to the small hamlet of Mawmluh. This cave interestingly has a five river passage with impressive proportions. With a length of 4503m it is currently the 4th longest in the Indian sub continent.[1]

A cement factory is situated at the mouth of the cave and is dumping all its waste in the cave and thus covering the cave. The main entrance is now a mesh of quick sand and and with all the erosion of the hill caused by the pollution there is every chance that we will loose a very significant geological site very soon. Act Now!!

Images:Foremost is the image of the cement factory, middle ones depicting the waste materials being deposited in the cave. Last one showing the cave, a natural laboratory for study of stalagmite.

Generally the Hollywood movies posters are written in English and if the movie is shown in hindi. It is pasted as such. But in a poster for movie "Sanctum " at Shillong' s Polics Bazaar had the poster written in Hindi and it had a note that the show was in English.

Kolkata Desolate Places!!

Three of the most busiest places connecting Kolkata. The first one Howrah Bridge (Rabindra Setu), next one Howrah Station, and last Vidyasagar Setu. Have you tried a night out around Kolkata? No hustle-bustle. Joyride. It was enigmatic to discribe about standing over Vidyasagar as if you were suspended over a tight rope. As we taking photographs of Howrah Stations, Pedlar thought we had wrong intentions and tried to move away. Pastured and Marooned by traffic police and local police milking us for money. Any excuse but money was only way to get rid of them. Morning Coffee @ CCD. Overall it was different experience.

The Golden Grains

The Fan of the Year

Looks like an ordinary fan, we have been using since time immemoriable. Look closely. It has a roller attached to the handle-more ergonomic. With help of it you can roll the fan with much ease without much effort- smart innovation. A small attachment has made us be more cool during hot summer without perspiration. Bandh Strikes Again!!

All opposition parties are yet again geared for another bandh. I do not know any positive happens due to these bandhs but Parties try to make their presence felt time to time in this process they do arson to gain spotlight. In many states like Jharkhand there was bandh on 30th June by the Maoists and on 2nd July by student bodies and 13 parties and more have called upon for another bandh, Bharat Bandh on 5th July. On 10th July there is bandh too in Bihar. Crores of money, lots of life are lost in these bandhs. Perhaps it is time we have too look at constitution once again.
