Delhi Dolby Surround Sound Baraat

How was I going to give my interview (through Skype) scheduled few hours later ? The whole room was vibrating and window glasses were rattling? Where was this shrill sound coming from? I was becoming worried that if the sound persisted for long it was going to be another disastrous interview.

On Sunday morning a baraat (marriage procession) crawled through the narrow lanes of Delhi (Nirman Vihar) led by a truck packed with bad woofers. Pep Bollywood numbers (from oo lala to chamak chhalo) played was cacophonous and piercing our ear drums. It was followed by the bridegroom on horse and the nonchalant women observing a few boys trying to tab their feet on the discordant mixture of sound.

It is for you to decide whether these kind of uncouth affairs to be allowed or not. If not, who is going to stop them?

Delhi's Double Trouble

The exploitation of ground water through thousands of small tube-wells drilled through the heart of ground all over Delhi is trivial. All houses have their own boring. Even some houses have several of these working 24*7. In some places the level of ground water has decreased more than 9 m in the past decade itself.[1] The situation is accentuated by the concrete floods. By the concretisation of all the spaces which blocks the water percolations has led to concrete floods. Wake up Delhites!! Conserve rain water. Adopt rain water harvesting now.

Long time, I bought my first sim card with lifetime connection in August 2006 worth Rs. 1100 (199 for sim card+999 for lifetime). Now in August 2011, you get new sim card, lifetime activation and bonus more than double talktime. What an era, Sirjee!!

Do you doubt they are not SEM images?

Often we saw these images as obtained from SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). Look carefully these are not images taken from SEM. These are photographs of crystals obtained by recrystalization in conical flask. These can be seen from naked eye (fascination to watch).

Cementing the Cave: Loosing a geological site

Krem Mawmluh Cave is situated approximately half a kilometre west of Cherrapunjee adjacent to the small hamlet of Mawmluh. This cave interestingly has a five river passage with impressive proportions. With a length of 4503m it is currently the 4th longest in the Indian sub continent.[1]

A cement factory is situated at the mouth of the cave and is dumping all its waste in the cave and thus covering the cave. The main entrance is now a mesh of quick sand and and with all the erosion of the hill caused by the pollution there is every chance that we will loose a very significant geological site very soon. Act Now!!

Images:Foremost is the image of the cement factory, middle ones depicting the waste materials being deposited in the cave. Last one showing the cave, a natural laboratory for study of stalagmite.

Generally the Hollywood movies posters are written in English and if the movie is shown in hindi. It is pasted as such. But in a poster for movie "Sanctum " at Shillong' s Polics Bazaar had the poster written in Hindi and it had a note that the show was in English.

Kolkata Desolate Places!!

Three of the most busiest places connecting Kolkata. The first one Howrah Bridge (Rabindra Setu), next one Howrah Station, and last Vidyasagar Setu. Have you tried a night out around Kolkata? No hustle-bustle. Joyride. It was enigmatic to discribe about standing over Vidyasagar as if you were suspended over a tight rope. As we taking photographs of Howrah Stations, Pedlar thought we had wrong intentions and tried to move away. Pastured and Marooned by traffic police and local police milking us for money. Any excuse but money was only way to get rid of them. Morning Coffee @ CCD. Overall it was different experience.

The Golden Grains

The Fan of the Year

Looks like an ordinary fan, we have been using since time immemoriable. Look closely. It has a roller attached to the handle-more ergonomic. With help of it you can roll the fan with much ease without much effort- smart innovation. A small attachment has made us be more cool during hot summer without perspiration. Bandh Strikes Again!!

All opposition parties are yet again geared for another bandh. I do not know any positive happens due to these bandhs but Parties try to make their presence felt time to time in this process they do arson to gain spotlight. In many states like Jharkhand there was bandh on 30th June by the Maoists and on 2nd July by student bodies and 13 parties and more have called upon for another bandh, Bharat Bandh on 5th July. On 10th July there is bandh too in Bihar. Crores of money, lots of life are lost in these bandhs. Perhaps it is time we have too look at constitution once again.

The Honey Bee: For all the sweetness in life

The bees are social insects. They live in bee-hives in about 10000-15000 in number one colony. Honey in flowering conditions can be collected in 7-8 days. They are grown in farms for helping pollination in flowers. Can you believe we would not get any fruit and flowers without honey? There is only one queen bee in colony survives for 3 years. She gives thousands of egg daily. Worker bees have take care of the eggs. Honey is processed by them. There is third class too known as drones. They are the male ones. There number is in hundreds.
