I often lose, but I'm getting more savvy every year and learn new tricks to beat back these little pests that like to dig up my flowers, eat my plants, root through my flower pots, and make general chaos of our patio area.

Today I'm going to share 5 tricks I've picked up in the last few years of gardening to help keep squirrels out of your plants. These work best with container gardening, which is what I mostly do on our back patio, but several of these can be applied directly to your bed gardens.

Chalkboard Superhero Skyline

My 4 year old's firetruck room is in the midst of an upgrade. He officially got a big boy bed a month ago, and we've been slowly redoing the decor to match his new favorite thing: superheroes!

You can definitely expect more superhero projects in the future and,

hopefully in the next couple of months, a final reveal!

His new bed is a loft bed so decorating the space where he sleeps is a bit of a challenge. Its up high and the walls are seriously boring to look at. To make it more interesting I decided to make a silhouetted city skyline as you would expect to see in any superhero comic strip as a piece of "artwork" for this space!

Mini Blackberry Cheesecakes

Its hard to beat fresh fruits in your desserts during the spring and summer months.

And I love incorporating fresh fruit into all aspects of my meals 1) because my boys love fruit

and 2) because they are so good for you!

Blackberries are one of our favorite fruits. In fact, we go blackberry picking at least 4-5 times every summer to make cobblers, jams, or even just eat them by themselves with a little bit of Cool Whip.

And now we can add these mini blackberry cheesecakes to our repertoire!

SNAP! Conference Recap {2013}

It only took a week, but I am finally sharing my SNAP! conference recap!

I had so many photos to dig through, y'all. I did so much better this year than last year on the photo taking!

And, you know, photos of actual people instead of just things.

I definitely came out of my shell more, but probably because this was my 2nd conference, and I felt a little more confidant and knew more people.

Warning: This post is extremely photo heavy with loads of information.

If you're thinking, "not another SNAP! recap!" just keep in mind that this post is as much for me as it is for you.

I don't want to forget any of these details!

1 - Once again SNAP! was held at the gorgeous Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, UT.

2 - I was able to stay at the Marriott on site and the view was to die for!

3 - More mountain views. I just love them!

4 - The first night there a bunch of us went to the infamous Cafe Rio to eat. Oh.My.Yum. Can I just say the sweet pork quesadilla was AMAZING! Can it be delivered to TN??

5 - I have to give a shout out to my friend Amy who made this amazing tote bag for me that I carried around during the conference! I so wish she had a blog for her amazing crafts. *hint, hint* I got tons of comments on it!

6 - I also sported my DSLR and The Poppy Shoppe camera strap cover which happened to match my tote.

Pinterest Feature Friday - PFF #79

Hey guys! I am McKenzie from Girl Loves Glam and I am excited to be part of the Pinterest Feature Friday party! Potty Training Multiples Book

I also wanted to share very quickly the roomie gifts I put together for my roommates at the SNAP! conference, Bev and Kara. They've finally seen them by now so its safe to share!

I made them each a picture frame to put their favorite photo from the conference in, as well as making each of them one of my nautical knot necklaces (how fun is that orange?). Snacks are always in order so I had to include some jelly beans. And I found that super cute journal at Michael's during my last visit.

These were so much fun to put together!

My Crafty Interview & SNAP! Goodies

Even as you read this, I am catching a plane to Utah for the SNAP! conference!

Above are the little goodie bags I put together to pass out with my business cards.

Included is a spool of twine in either turquoise or gray and one of my Awesome printables in wallet-size.

I have ~100 of the goodie bags with twine & printable and another 50 or so with just printables. If you're going to the conference (or are already there!) be sure to find me and get one!

And, yes, I hand wrote on all 150 of those cute little bags!

I'm so excited for this conference and will sharing all of my experiences via social media.

So you may or may not have heard, but there is an amazingly awesome blogger conference coming up this week called SNAP! in Utah. And I'm stoked to be going back again this year!

Last year I felt a little bit like an outcast at the conference for not bringing my DSLR, but I just wasn't familiar enough with it to bring it along so I relied on my trusty point-and-shoot. This year I'm taking the plunge to understand my DSLR better and use it more often.

Decorative Stenciled Book Covers

I love stencils! I mean, what easier way could there be to dress up something Plain Jane and give it a whole new look? I was super excited when Plaid sent me some of the brand new Handmade Charlotte stencils. I knew almost immediately what I wanted to make, and its the perfect home decor project for my in-the-works living room makeover!

I recovered some old unused books with fabric that I dressed up even further with the Handmade Charlotte stencils and FolkArt paint for some fun decorative stenciled book covers!

I received this adorable stencil pack as well and some stencil sponges and lot of FolkArt paint in fun colors.

These stencil designs are super trendy.

This particular pack includes chevron and honeycomb which are both super popular right now!

Making Family Night RIGHT! {Staples}

I was recently given the opportunity to write a review for Staples. Staples is my go-to place for office supplies (I love to find my yearly calendar binders there, and they have some great business card holders!) So the answer was an absolute yes followed quickly by the question, "What to review?"

I perused the Staples website and became slightly overwhelmed at the number of choices facing me. Did you know Staples not only carries computers, paper products, and office supplies but also storage containers, first aid supplies, and televisions? I had no idea!!

After spending an hour perusing site I finally narrowed my choice down to 2 items:

A steam mop (at Staples?? Awesome!) to care for our new wood laminate floors OR

a Blu-ray player for fun family movie nights.

I had a terrible time deciding!

The steam mop would make cleaning our floors so much simpler, but we've never owned a Blu-ray player before and all our friends who have one rave about them.

I finally put it to my husband to pick between the two, and I think it was pretty much a no brainer for him.

Cars Birthday Party

We had so much fun with the Cars birthday party for my 2 year old!

And I'm pretty sure my little guy was over the moon for it.

Though I'm not sure he realized the party was really for him until we sang Happy Birthday.

He looked a little surprised when we sang his name!

When ours guests came up the front walk they were greeted by my boys' chalkboard easel that had been party prepped with a welcome sign, a copy of the Cars birthday invitation ticket, and a note to grab a pit pass before they entered the house.

Inspirational Glitter Egg Art

I'm so sad to see my month of guest designer for P K Glitz come to an end.

Though it will be easy to come up with an excuse to play with their glitter!

For my final project I wanted to make something inspirational for my boys.

In this day and age, it can be hard to stand out in the crowd.

Or, you could have the opposite problem and stand out from your friends or classmates and that may be looked upon as a bad thing.

I want my boys to know that it is OKAY to stand out. I want them to stand out and be individuals.

And I want them to be okay with that and know that their father and I are okay with it, too!

And with Easter approaching, it was the perfect time to make some inspirational glitter egg art.

For this project you will need the Pastels Color Wheel glitter, the mini spoon, the anti static brush, and Wonder Film all from P K Glitz.
