To promote love for the craft and market new products most scrapbooking stores regularly hold workshops, scrap meets and art sessions. Collecting washi tapes has been my obsession lately. Not only that it gives me a therapeutic feeling whenever I look at their colors but I love using them when wrapping gifts or packages. Washi tapes are also called as wasabi tape. Not that it has to do with the spicy condiment that is eaten with sushis, but these tapes originated from Japan. It’s made from natural fibers of bamboo, hemp or the mulberry (mitsumata shrub) which is very common in Japan. These washi tapes are strong and easy to design on that’s why they make as great packing materials embellishment.

You use needles when doing some sewing, making quilts, crocheting, doing some cross stitch many more.! Pin is a device used for fastening materials or objects together. It is usually made of steel, copper or brass. It is formed by drawing out the wire by sharpening the tip and adding a head. A cotter pin is made up of round wire of a harder metal. They are used in styling the hair as they are easier to remove and reuse.

Cultivating Art and Music for Kids

They say that arts and crafts develop a child’s fine motor skills and fuel his imagination and creativity. This is the same when it comes to music. You don’t have to buy Korg Kronos workstation yet though. They key here is exposure.

Like most habits, exposure starts at home. You don’t have to know how to play music nor do artistic paintings. You can sing along with him, play music, encourage use of musical toys.

You can buy him crayons and papers instead of toys. Praise him for every piece of art work he finishes. You will be surprised how praise and encouragement can go a long way.

Oh what a pleasant nook! I love how those cigar boxes were transformed to storage boxes. It gave me an idea how to store my craft materials more effectively. But the problem is, no one in the family smoke cheyenne cigars or any type of cigar so there’s no one I can request or arbor these boxes from. I have a strong feeling that the owner of this nook is a crafter, too.

94 Seconds Mobile App

Have you heard about the mobile application 94 Seconds? I’ve downloaded it recently and I find it pretty interesting. It’s a game wherein you have 94 seconds to earn as much points as you can by giving a correct word or answer for one given category. You will be given a category and the beginning letter and you have to type a correct answer as fast as you can so you can proceed with the next categories and earn points. So far my highest record is 29 and I find it difficult to beat or surpass it. One of the categories in the said app is “musical instrument”. I guess I have to research more on the web or check out pages featuring Numark so I can learn more about uncommon musical instruments and earn higher points.

American Idol 12

American Idol Season 12 has begun again and just like the previous seasons, I think I’ll be hooked again this time. This season’s contestants are all great especially the ladies. The new panel of judges (except for Randy) is also something to look forward to especially Nicki Minaj’s bold way of judging. Just like last time, I’m also keeping my hopes high that another Fil-am talent (Adriana Latonio) will make it to the top 10 although personally, Jessica Sanchez set the bar really high and that might be too tough for Adriana to level with. Anyway, I guess, watching Star World will be a regular habit every Wednesday and Thursday nights and the AI studio, recording mic, the band and the judges will be a regular weekly sight for me. Looks like it’d be yet again another exciting season to watch.

Time Management and Priorities

I’m so happy with how my small craft business is doing at the moment. The orders have started to become overwhelming to the point that I’m having difficulty juggling all tasks that I have in a day. There’s a point when I’m wishing that I’ve got extra hands and mind to finish everything with what’s up on my to-do plate. But, just like what the husband always advises me..learn to prioritize. If everything seems to be a priority, then do what I feel like doing first or what my mood dictates. There’s actually no need for workflow software solutions because the key is an effective, workable and realistic timetable of work to do’s.

If Only…

Yesterday, I did a quick release of a new headband collection in my online shop. The artistic and OC-ness in me struck that I decided to make a simple digiscrapped album cover for the collection. The collection had about 7 styles so I needed a template where there are 7 slots for easy plopping of pictures. I rummaged my hard disk and luckily, the searching didn’t take long as I found the perfect one. I suddenly missed my former addiction. It reminded me of those days when I can whip up several layouts in a day, got hooked and maximizing my internet’s bandwidth downloading purchased digital kits and freebies and able to finish several photobooks in a week. At one point, the husband thought of sending me to a rehab treatment centers for digiscrapping if there’s such a thing because I was that hooked. Now if only I can have that extra time when I’ve got no obligations to fulfill, I bet I’d be able to put up a library of my photobooks.

If I’m to digiscrap the photos of my son about his deep interest into music lately, I would have to use this digital kit by Shawna Clingerman.

I saw a book at a thrift bookstore last weekend about easy sewing projects for babies. I got interested and upon browsing the pages, I was really tempted to buy it because of the interesting and fun sewing projects that I think I can do especially that I’ve just procured my own sewing machine. To my dismay, the book was expensively priced for a second hand so I placed it back on the rack. I figured I’ll just save the money for the mean time and perhaps, if I could earn enough, I’ll buy the Caravelle by Bulova watch I’ve been drooling for weeks now. Anyway, there’s the internet and google that I can use to search online for free sewing projects. And luck is on my side because I just found this on Pinterest.

Craft Activity for Kids

My son’s school is fond of doing craft activities for special occasions like Valentines. The teacher helps them make a card, a poster and other craft that are just easy to do yet really nice. The kids later on give them as gifts to their parents. Sweet, huh? I wonder what they are up to this year.

My Pinterest feed is oozing with lots of Valentine Craft Activities for toddlers. I’m re-pinning them so that my son will have something to do during weekends. Doing crafts and arts is a great activity while cooling down and resting after an outdoor play. Sometimes, my son rushes to his craft door in his bike helmet that looks like a Nexx XR1R Carbon in excitement. Glad that my son finds crafts and arts a fun activity, too.

Whenever he hears a music that he fancies, he’ll ask us to download it on our iphone and iPad so he can play and dance with it (for fast music) over and over. Whenever he watches Imagination Movers on Disney, he asks in his sweetest voice if we can buy him a trombone, violin, guitar and even shop native instruments komplete .
