The article is about a trip to Lake Kesagami for Giant Gator Pike, and it looks like they had fun!

Read about giant Pike being caught using the Scrounger . In-Fisherman has a great article called “Giant Gators Galore” and you can read about their experience starting on page 20.

As you can only imagine,  this informative article about using swimbaits to catch giant Pike is going to reference the Scrounger and it’s use during their trip to Kesagami Lake. including a few images of these enormous fish.

I know anglers that use the 1/8 oz. Scrounger with a variety of trailers and do just as well. Many are catching walleyes and Stripers on this same or similar rig. Using the scrounger rig for smallmouth bass boils down to finding what works for you and what you are comfortable with. Some anglers may prefer the 1/8 oz. Scrounger with a grub or helgramite for creek smallmouth while someone else may prefer the 1/4 oz. with a bigger fluke for a trailer to get a faster fall through the water colulm. Either way, the Scrounger jig can and will produce plenty of smallmouth if you are looking for something different and versitile.

I used a Berkley Power Minnow as my trailer on a 1/4oz medium bill and hooked up with a smallmouth bass that I lost and shortly after, a great Largemouth Bass fishing an outside line of lily pads.
I added a couple pics below of the LM Bass.

Woody Hannah & Bob Diedrich of Louisville KY , joined Rusty of J & R Guide Service for a wet Monday afternoon of Monroe Slab Crappie fishing . 12 nice Crappie went to KY and about 150 went back into the lake , Fish were caught on Southern Pro Jigs and grubs & Scrounger Jigs .

Brandon Butler hits the motherload on Monroe Slab Crappie
Outdoorwriter Brandon Butler from Smithville , and friends Justin Corey from Bloomington , Rob McGuyre and son Brenden from Colorado , hit the payload on Monroe Slab Crappie with Rusty of J & R Guide Service on Friday afternoon . Largest 2 fish were 17″ , but most were a pound to a pound and a half . Total weight was 38lbs. Surface temp. was 63.5 degrees and most fish came from 7 feet of water on 1/8 oz. Southern Pro Jigs and Scrounger Jigs .

Bill Jenner and close friends joined Rusty , Joe and Phil , of J & R Guide Service , for some Monroe Crappie fishing on Tuesday morning , The cold front slowed the action down but we finally were able to put together a pattern that produced another nice mess of Crappie . All fish were caught on roadrunners , Southern Pro Jigs and Scrounger Jigs in 7-10 feet of water . Total weight for 24 fish was 23lbs. with the largest fish weighing 2.4 lbs.

Some fish are still holding in the spawning areas even though the water temp was around 78 degrees today . Out of 25 fish , only three still were holding eggs . This monster was caught while he was at the Kesagami Lake Lodge in the Hudson Bay Lowlands. Way to go Gord, Great Fish!
