Run Your Car on Water – The Gen-X Approach To Cutting Fuel Costs

Can you really run your car on water? This is the burning question that we all want answered. From umpteen ads and online promotions to get you to buy that miracle solution to cut gas bills, you would think this is something that is all but a rip-off. Thai Tuberculosis facemask 100% successful

Thailand's Julalongorn University has issued an article on their Thai Language website, stating that they have invented a nano-fiber cloth mask to cover the nose and mouth protecting against tuberculosis. The mask's fibers are made from nanofibres with an added essence taken from the Mangosteen, proving allegedly to be almost completely efective against Tuberculosis when impregnated into the nanofibers of the face mask.

Doctor Pit Subpol gave a newscast that tests made by Scientists at the University proved that the fibre can screen against Tuberculosis almost 100% effective! This technological advance is one of 6 projects that were financed by the foundation for Industrial development in the Textile and fabrics industry sector. The discovery of the ability of the Mangosteen to prevent Tuberculosis was discovered by students working in the "Somun Prai" (Herbs and Plants for natural remedies) - this was then adapted into an additive for the textile weave made from nanofibres.
The Mask is nor only useful in prevention of contraction of the disease, but also the mangosteen essenc in the mask has antibacterial properties, able to kill tuberculosis bacteria too. Copyright has already been registered for Thailand, and the International copyright registrars are in the process of drawing up the copyrights for other countries too.
The mask is expected to meet great demand once on the market.

It is interesting to note the trajectory of inventor Stanley Meyer. He invented the Water Fuel Cell which breaks down water fuel cells into Oxygen and Hydrogen. Meyer was determined to do something to protect his Country from Oil Embargos. Meyer is reputed to have said that if you run out of "Gas" (water), and dont have any freshwater, then use snow, if you don't have any snow, then use saltwater, because saltwater doesn't have any adverse effects on the fuel cell.
He estimates that driving with his to water fuel converted dune buggy from Los Angeles to New York, he would use roughly an amount of 22 gallons of water as fuel to get there!
The U.S. Government is watching attently and is showing an interest in using the invention to apply in their star wars and Mars projects.Meyer is currently perfecting a design for a water fuelled cell for commercial cars, which will have a production cost as low as 1500$. This will have an unimaginably massive and turbulent effect on fuel moguls and the automobile industry when the invention begins to be applied in the automotive industry's production lines.The inventor has reputedly recieved offers of over a Billion dollars in cash for the patent to the water fuel cell.The interesting thing about this water fuel cell, is the fact that with it's existence, any gas powered engine could be made to work on pure hydrogen.What is also worth taking note of is the fact that the water fuel cell could have been produced and released as early as 1985, but wasn't.
In 1998, Meyer signed a contract with the Department of Defence to build a 30 million dollar research facility....................

This clip was taken by a very lucky man who got to see the US Space shuttle Discovery taking off, seen from a birds eye position out of the porthole of his airplane. The man is obviously surprised at the speed because he keeps repeating the same phrase again and again to comment on the speed of the shuttle as it rockets through the atmosphere.

UK Police using "Micro-Drones"

U.K. Police forces are using, it seems, a new hovering surveillance device. This means an unmanned gadget, that can fly up to 350 feet high high. The device/aircraft, has of course, a surveillance camera.A spokesman is reputed to have commented the following response to a move of this nature that could remove almost all a person's privacy rights;
"Aircraft like this is going to save allot of lives and enable military and law enforcement to have invaluable eyes they didn’t have before. This technology is amazing and will continue to improve with their camera’s and ability to get to places that would put lives in danger."

British police are now using the Microdrone from German company Microdrones GmbH in trials. According to The Times newspaper, it has already recieved testing in use to monitor a rock festival last summer, and there has also been interest from "MI5, the Metropolitan Police Force, and even Soca, the Serious Organised Crime Agency, has shown alleged interest. "

As the video below shows, It's battery powered, therefore not very loud, it has an extremely quiet sound. At an altitude of 350 feet it is very unlikely to be noticed from the ground.

Given these obvious advantages of flying at a high altitude, the disadvantages are also to be found; (flight time is reduced to twenty minutes in place of the usual hour if flying at lower altitudes).

Perhaps the contraption looks pretty fragile? Well, despite it's light weight, it can handle relatively strong winds and hold it's position. the video demonstrates the ability/agility of this module in flight. It is reported to be pretty tough thing for it's appearance and is reputed to be able to return to ground safely even if it loses 2 of it's 4 rotor blades! (propellors).

It even has a loudspeakeer so that instructions or orders can be given to targets on the ground.

The video style is also a contrast. It contains some footage shot from a Microdrone, which gives an impressive display of its powers. Zooming in on a sunbather in a bikini as a demonstration is not likely to allay fears about how intrusive this technology might be. And the ability to hover outside a window and peer in is one which is equally open to use and abuse.

Using these devices for military purposes is one thing, but when the police have them the discussion is completely different. Although in principle it won't allow them to spy on anything that couldn't already be seen from a helicopter, small and cheap MAVs are likely to be much more common. And, crucially, unlike a helicopter you will not be able to tell when one is watching you.

Innovation Technologies (www.innovationfirst.com), have now presented the "hexbug".
The Hexbug is a toy designed at schools, colleges and universities. It is described as a "micro robotic creature"

HEXBUGTM Micro Robotic Creatures are basically senseless fun products designed to inspire students in their robotics and other electronics/engineering projects. Pictured left, is the "Hexbug Crab" - it is equipped with light-sensing, and IR Remote control is offered by Inchworm.

Robot 250 and the Bigbots

Robotic Art "Installations" is what the Bigbots are. Eleven huge robotic constructions are displayed on the most renowned landmarks of Pittsburgh as part of Pittsburgh's 250th anniversary.
The items on display in this installation are not really functional robots, but still of interest as a source of discussion and inspiration in the robotic engineering community, however whimsical some of these installations may seem to be.After all, the whimsical is often the key to genial marketing, and consumer products are always lending an ear to the whimsical tendencies of the human race, so lets not brush these installations aside.
The pic on the left is of Mower, this "robot", which was designed by Mr.Osman Khan, an assistant professor at Carnegie Mellon School of Art,is installed on the lawn of the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. The Electronic pet sheep( or programmable lawnmower maybe) is an obvious referral to Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? The ideal Mower robot would include navigational and obstacle avoidance sensors, according to Khan. Among the other installations, two or three caught my attention. For several reasons did they catch my attention too, namely; 1.the idea is simply ridiculous, which is sometimes the cause of a later sensible application of the same knowledge used to present a ridiculous purpose.2. The unusuality aspect and commercial application factors involved with the particular installation made some entries interesting to me.

Pic right; Giant Foam Hand (???) was another installation that caught my eye (HOW COULDN'T IT?). This robot is called "You're Number One", and is the creation of Ian Ingram. Located on the roof of the Andy Warhol Museum, it is somehow connected to a number of different locations in Pittsburgh. A smaller copy of the foam finger is placed in these locations, and when approached and pressed by a bystander, the big hand rotates to point it's finger exactly in the direction of the bystander pressing the small hand in whatever location he may be in! Ridiculous, "That sucks like hell", you might say. But if you use your brain to think of the implications and application possibilities, both with the media, and security orientated business circles, then you would see a multimillionaire opportunity right before your eyes.

Pittsburgh touts on its official Web site that it's the only city to have won "America's Most Livable City" award twice. But perhaps the "Take me to you robot," or "Go ahead, make my robot," slogans used for its Robot 250 festival are more appropriate.

Pittsburgh is famously home to one of the leading academic research centers for robotics in the country, The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, which is also home to one of the country's leading roboticists, Matt Mason.

There has long been a rivalry between Boston and Pittsburgh as to which city is the tech leader in robotics. Both cities have academic and private research centers, as well as major companies, heavily involved in the robotics industry.

But in recent years, Pittsburgh has been playing up its ties to robotics through a series of public announcements, events, and community projects.

On the site for its 250th anniversary, Pittsburgh proudly states that the first robot was created in the Pittsburgh region, as well as the first polio vaccine and the first advanced organ transplantation.

The city played host to the RoboCup American Open in 2003, the preliminary U.S. play-off to the annual global soccer tournament played by robots.

In Spring 2009, due in large part to CMU, Pittsburgh is about to become the permanent home of the Robot Hall of Fame, which honors robots from both real life and science fiction.

And this year, as part of the city's 250th anniversary celebration, the University of Pittsburgh, CMU, and several area foundations, including the Heinz Foundation, are sponsoring Robot 250, a festival of the usual arts and culture with a robotic twist.

Pittsburgh's public art exhibition--instead of statues of cows, as many U.S. cities have done, or a Cavalcade of Cod, as Boston has done--is a series of robots called BigBots. The robotic art pieces have been installed at landmark locations throughout the city, including the Andy Warhol Museum, the Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.

Other events include various types of robot-building workshops, a robot film festival hosted by the city parks system, and a robot-theme theater production called "Astro-rma."

It's not so surprising that a city whose football team is called the Steelers is embracing its next-generation industry. But as we saw last year with the robots made of food, Pittsburgh's robot enthusiast community is not restricting itself to the old paradigm of a robot made of steel.

After this you can choose from a selection fo google avatars.

This is a new application from google, so i still don't have too much info on it.I am installing it on my laptop to test it, so i shall return to re-edit this post later and add to my conclusions.

For those of you who use the www, but understand little of the workings behind what makes it work, the words in the title of this post will baffle you. If i told you that AJAX is a language that is inserted into the program on your the server where that particular website is hosted, and that AJAX is simply a term to mean the upgraded ability of the server to interptret Java Script ( a dynamic script language, that enables User friendly functions, such as drag and drop), when it is inserted in xml or xhtml document (which are proving to be fast assuming the role of master engine that lies behind all html and php documents).
For those of you whose minds are reeling at what they are reading, this means basically that with AJAX, when you upload a pic to facebook, hi5 or any of the many other top "social networking" sites, then you can do it with an active x plugin in your browser that allows you to use tickboxes and thumbnails, or even to drag a pic from your folder and drop it in a window for uploading!
Such developments in the way that new applications such as AJAX, the widgets, podcasts, and other applications that are appearing with the advent of Web 2.0, are affecting the way that Humans live, socialize and see each other, as well as the way that we do business and communicate. More that 5 Billion different songs are suppose to have been played on I Tunes (at 99 cents a song!)

The world's first rotating skyscraper with interchangeable floors is in the Making!
below is a preview of this amazing feat of Construction Engineering from Italian Architect; David Fisher.
The building is an 80 storey residential tower, featuring revolving floors.

The first one is to be built in Dubai, after that Mr. Fisher says he is slated to build others in both Moscow, and New York.Thes ultra - futuristic edifices wil perform a double task as generators.Wind turbines on every floor shall provide power to the building.The Dubai condos are selling for 3000 dollars per square foot, and lifts from the ground floor will allow penthouse residents to park their cars right in their condominiums!
The buildings will first be pre-fabricated in Italy to be assembled in the final location. The Dubai edifice is planned to be completed by 2010.
