Win on Friday over the San Antonio Spurs, 96-84.

Okay, the Wuertz household is back online, legitimately. Yesterday we got Clear Wireless!

It was SO rainy yesterday, but started out as a beautiful day. We left the house to head out and run some errands, and by the time we left the first place, it was downpour! We got totally soaked running from the car to the stores. Once we got home, we put on our comfy clothes and warmed up, me by taking a nap, and Jason by testing out the internet.

At one point, I just woke up from my nap, Jason asked if I wanted to go to Dutch Bros. Mind you, this never happens, so I thought maybe I was still sleeping and this was a dream. But he wanted to drive to Newberg and check out one of his projects since it was still raining so hard, and he hadn't seen how it handled the rain yet. So we jumped in the car, me still in my slippers, grabbed a Dutch Bros and drove around looking at his projects.

Basically the rest of the day we tracked the Ducks loss to Stanford online, and listened to the Beavers win over Cal!

Lazy Saturdays are going to be a thing of the past pretty soon, so we tried to really do it justice yesterday :).

Hahahaha. So our internet has been down, if you know what I mean! Hahahaha.

In the last two weeks, Jason has been 4-wheeling up in Washington, and Quarterhorse had a gig Halloween night. I sewed a crib skirt and covered some pillows for in the baby's room. We cleaned out the garage really good and the car is now once again being parked in the garage! We bought a chest freezer for the garage so I can stock it up with frozen meals and what not. We helped tow a lady the other night whose car broke down on 99W. What else? I don't know. I should not wait 2 weeks between blogging.

And, if you are keeping track of the pregnancy too, today begins the 28th week, which means the 3rd trimester! Holy cow!

Field Trip Day

My strategy for the school year was to go on one field trip per month before I leave for the year. I figured that would help break up the months and get us out of the classroom and doing more fun stuff. So far I am on track.

Today I am taking my class to the Oregon Food Bank. I took two groups last school year, and I love the opportunity kids have to learn about the food bank and volunteer. Plus I get to go too!! So away we go.....

Feeling Baby Wuertz Move

People have been asking if I have felt the baby move yet, and up until a week or so ago I was saying "I think so!" I was unsure for a long time what I felt or was feeling because it has been such a weird progression of strength and obvious movement.

Around 20 weeks I sometimes felt like a can of 7-up had been opened in my belly (or as this picture shows, Alka Seltzer, basically fizziness). Usually after eating and then lying down.

Somewhere around 22 weeks I felt like a constant rumbling, nothing really distinct, just a tumbling. Best described as.... a cement mixer. When I told my midwife about this, she just looked at my like I was a dork! :) Hahaha.

Then at week 23/24 the movements became more distinct and individual. Actually the real first obvious movements were one day during church! Since then, Jason has been able to feel them too, and we can see the movement! I can't really call them kicks or punches, I feel more like....a timpani, like my belly is a timpani that is being hit from the inside.
So that is what I have been feeling. And it's pretty weird. :) But cool. :)

Medford Visit

We spent the weekend in Medford visiting my parents. We hadn't been to Medford since July so it was about time to go down there.

Friday we drove up to the cabin in Union Creek, complete with a drive on the back roads, pictures, lunch at the cabin, watching my dad's cousin dress a deer, and going for a hike/walk along the Union Creek Trail. Friday dinner we spent with Grandma and Grandpa Harden, and discussing baby names.

Saturday Jason and Dad went for a hike on Pilot Butte while Mom and I shopped and ate lunch with cousin Tonya and aunts Kathy and Celia. We spent the afternoon watching the Beavs beat Stanford, and the evening playing Settlers.

Sunday after church we drove home and went to bed early, I mean, early! 9pm early. It was great to sleep for 9 hours before waking up to go to work this morning. Fun weekend!!

Lazy Weekend

Rachel, Cathy and I did the 10K Mayor's Walk this morning. We did it in under 2 hours, and we got to see some of the first finishers of the marathon zoom past us! Man, are those some crazy people!! It was a chilly morning to be out walking, but fun nonetheless.

Jason and I were very lazy this weekend, sticking around the house and not really doing anything. It was perfect! He is still taking his Sunday nap, I am awake (obviously!) and heading to the store to get what I need to make this: Pumpkin Cheesecake!! Yum! :)

you order a small soy Annihilator and a small "choy".

This is what Jason ordered this morning, meaning to say "chai" but it came out a combo of soy and chai. I thought he was going to lose it laughing at his own silly mistake, and the DB guy just gave him the weirdest look.

With the forecast for rain starting tomorrow, we wanted to do something fun today since it was bright and sun-shiny. We left church and by the time we got home (4 minutes), decided to go to the beach for the day. Wow, busy weekend. I can hardly believe it's Monday morning. Why am I at work right now?? This was a fun fun weekend, here is a small sample of what happened (sorry no pics, I'm a work, blogging...)

* Diana turned 50 on Friday!!!

* Saturday the Beavs lost. :(

* Ate yummy rib dinner at Eric & Cathy's with the family

* Saturday Jason and Quarterhorse had a birthday party gig - 1st gig in over a year

* Sunday morning Mom, Grandma, Cathy, Rachel, me & Baby Butt Cheeks walked the Race for the Cure! Lots of fun, lots of people!

* Sunday afternoon we went to the zoo - Gma, Gpa, Eric, Cathy, Mom, Jason, me & Baby Butt Cheeks

I think I can provide pic proof of all these events, except for the Beavs loss, which we don't need to document. Oh, and no proof of the rib dinner either, unless I still have bbq sauce on my face!

How's school going?

School is in session! Students came on Tuesday, and again I am very thankful to have prep first period each morning, gives me a chance to finish waking up, and ease myself into the day. I have a lot of students who took my class last year so I am not having to learn too many new names, and many of the students I don't know I at least recognize from being in the other teacher's class last year. I have one section of Intro to Culinary, which also happens to be all freshman, so about 35 new names there and they are pretty squirrely, but so far not causing any trouble.

I did tell all my classes about the baby. In response, as you might expect, all the girls went "aahhhhhhh" and the boys opted for "cool". I have had several suggestions for names; Donovan suggested Donovan, Taylor James thought Taylor James would be good for a boy, Savannah thought Savannah was a cute name for a girl. Hahahha. So helpful! I think I might have to set up a contest for my advisory kids, like who can guess the gender and birth date, and a name suggestion poll. Some of the kids are peeved about having to finish the year with a sub, but oh well, they can complain about that to the sub when the time comes!! :)

The second year is definitely already better than the first. I am more prepared and better organized, and know what to spend my time on, and what things I can let slide. I am still struggling with those stupid things called lesson plans, but I think most teachers do.

The schedule is good, but by the end of the week I was waking up a few minutes later each day, cherishing the last couple minutes of sleep. Most days I came home and was able to sneak in a little nap before dinner, and then trying to go to bed about 10. But...so many good tv shows start at 10! Nope, gotta keep bedtime early......

So I am gearing up for Week #2 which includes two days of making cream pies, getting freshman their Food Handlers Cards, and lecturing about "Successful Customer Relations"! Wow, I sound so important. Ha.

This week while we are doing our thing here in our small town, our extended family is growing by one as Nate & Christi (and Aaron & Ethan) add little Caleb to their family!! We are so excited to have another nephew!!! And we cannot wait to meet him.

One cool feature of our new camera is the ability to take mulitple photos with the time delayed pictures. So I can set it for a 10 second delay then it takes as many pictures in a row that you tell it to. Here are 4 pictures taken in a row of the 5 of us in front of Ramona Falls.

Kitchen Remodel ALMOST done!

Yes, we did remodel our kitchen, and yes, most of it was done over 5 months ago. But there are a few remaining things to finish. And that's what we are working on today. Jason and David are working hard to get power running to the island! Can't wait for that to happen! Then all we have left is to seal the grout, and caulk the gap between the counter and backsplash.

I made a chicken pot pie for dinner, which we are going to eat after Jason helps David with some maintenance on his truck. And we were planning on watching the Beaver game during dinner....but dumb us, (devoted Beaver fans!) didn't realize the game was at 11:30 this morning! Hahahaha. Oh well, at least they kicked butt and won 34-7! So I guess we'll just eat our dinner and maybe have a re-match of last night Settlers game.

In the car on the way home today:

Sara: "What's the plan? What are we going to do tonight?"

Jason: "I don't know, what's the plan?"

Sara: "We don't have a plan, it's an open night!"

Walking in the front door:

Jason: "What's that smell?"

Sara: "I don't know, that really stinks!!!"

Jason: "I think it's something in the garbage disposal."

Sara: "No, that smells like poop..."

Standing in the hallway looking into our bedroom:

Sara: "GROSS!! Cassie pooped everywhere in there! I'm going to throw up!"

And so was our afternoon. At some point during the day, Cassie had one or several butt explosions and pooped all over the floor in our bedroom!!!! It was the grossest thing I have ever cleaned up in my whole life! It took both of us armed with a roll of paper towels and multiple plastic bags, plugging our noses, running to the bathroom to gag, and a lot of laughing to clean it up. Poor Cassie.

We got all the poop picked up, I doused the room with Resolve, and we went to Jozi's house to borrow her carpet cleaner.

Now we have clean carpet in all the bedrooms!! And a clean dog, I gave her a good bath.

The fan has been running non-stop in the house, and the smell of the poop is gone, now it just smells like carpet shampoo. Not such a bad thing if you think about it!!

Last Day of Summer

I cannot believe the summer is over tomorrow. But I guess that it a little selfish in a couple of ways.

1. Most of you did not experience what I call "summer" - 11 weeks free from work, absolutely free.

2. Summer doesn't necessarily end tomorrow for most people. Unfortunately the whole world is subject to a school year calendar, so yes and no, summer actually ends next Tuesday for ya'll.

3. My job involves food. Which makes it automatically about 5 times cooler than most jobs in the world.

So I guess I shouldn't complain. I actually like my job a lot, and I am excited to go back and deal with teenagers.

We just hiked Dog Mountain this last Saturday. This one actually made me more sore than Mt Hood surprisingly. Maybe thats because I ran part of the way up and most of the way down. Haha. This one took us about 5 hours total to do. I think we made pretty good time. It was about 7 miles round trip and almost 3000 ft elevation gain. Pretty good trainer for the South Sister!
