An official photographer was shot dead at an Italian wedding while the bride and groom were posing for pictures with a gun.

Apparently they aren’t aware of Jeff Cooper’s Four Rules of Gun Safety.

L.A. County Sheriff's Department to destroy 8,300 weapons seized from criminals:

The annual effort is known as Project Isaiah. The stash of weapons taken from criminals will be dumped from a series of tractor-trailers into the smelter at the Tamco Steel Mill, said Deputy Bill Brauberger, who described the event as a celebration for the Sheriff’s Department.

“It’s pretty exciting and very visual,” said Brauberger, who attended the event last year.

A celebration? Pretty exciting?

I wonder if they would say that about book burnings.

China 'rocket farmer' wins cash in demolition dispute:

Yang Youde, a 56-year old farmer, was told his land was needed to build new offices.

The developers offered him compensation but he did not think it was enough.

The case highlights the efforts some Chinese are taking to preserve their property rights in the face of forced relocation by government officials.

Mr Youde built a watchtower. When demolition teams arrived, he fired home made rockets towards them, repelling them twice.

He should have let the courts decide. Maybe the U.S. Supreme Court. They have a lot of respect for private property rights.

Dog 'shoots' owner in New Zealand:

Police believe the animal stood on the trigger of a .22 bolt-action rifle in a freak accident.

The dog’s 40-year-old owner was getting into the rear seat of a four-wheel drive vehicle with the rifle next to him when the animal jumped in.

How could this happen?

The group told police they had thought the gun, which in fact contained five shells, was unloaded.

DALLAS - A Dallas man died while executing a twisted plot to win custody of his child, Dallas police said.

According to investigators, 20-year-old Dwayne Lamont Moten hired a friend to shoot him, intending to blame the crime on his wife’s boyfriend and gain custody of his 3-year-old son, Dwayne Jr.

“[This] was two individuals trying to frame a third individual,” Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse said.

SeaTac man critically injured by exploding homemade fireworks:

A 64-year-old SeaTac man was taken to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries Sunday after being hurt by exploding homemade fireworks, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

A 52-year-old man who lived in the same house as the injured man had built a homemade “aerial device” by tying together a bundle of sparklers, then put it inside a concrete cinder block to brace it, sheriff’s deputies said.

Now what could possibly go wrong if you tie a bunch of sparklers together?
