I took an overnight trip to LA to source fabric for an upcoming project and, of course I had to see Gina and Nicolas! Nic is 5 years old now and just a beautiful kid all around. This is a short video of the first time I saw him since he was about 1 year old. All I know is that he doesn't know me from Joe really, but the love was obviously there!

Birthday surprises

Alex always get's way cool gift from G'ma and G'pa. This year it's a jeep all terrain ;) vehicle. Way cool.

Poor Sissy. I didn't realize that her Dora doll was in the back seat of the jeep and that's why she was chasing it!

We figured out the perfect solution for her to join in the fun.......

The jeep had gone in the mud and Alex needed to check the wheel to make sure it was okay.

This year the theme was sharks...

Some cute pictures from the last couple of weeks.

Alex actually asked me to take a picture of him. The train was moving very slowly in the background..... the kids love listening for and seeing the train.

I got a front riding bike seat so that I could take all three kids for a bike ride, but I think I'm too small for this to work for me. It's too top heavy and I can't stand up to pedal making it VERY difficult for me to actually get anywhere.

Last snow storm of the season?

Would be nice........ still fun for the kids though.

First time Sofia has walked in the snow. I didn't get snow boots for her because Spring is almost here (Brooke was wearing a size 5 when she started walking. Sofia is a size 3.) But I put Brooke's old size 5 boots on her and she did pretty well!

Brooke has her favorite "princess" dress on underneath... as you can see.

Brooke had a good time taunting Sofia from outside.

Well, Sofia is walking! She has been walking now (little by little) since she turned one on Feb 1st. I love this stage. She is loving the Independence. She doesn't even walk towards you anymore. Now she'll AVOID you and walk around you! Oh yeah, she knows what she wants.

And Brooke, oh dear... she goes a little nutty with the dancing. It's pretty funny though. She is the comedian in our house. Just the way she says things will crack you up.

Alex just had to wear his "garbage man" costume (actually a pilot costume), including the helmet. Mom insisted that he wear a winter hat beneath the garbage man helmet. That made him happy. We talked about what the word compromise meant.

He's always loved them and every once in a while will ask for them. Even though he's obviously all done teething! Not sure what he means by the "germies".

We love our Terrific Two's class. One of the things we do every week is sing:

"Where is "Brookie"? Where is Brookie? Here she is! Here she is! We're so glad to see you, we're so glad to see you. Come again. Come again."

And then we go around and do everyone's name. Brooke really enjoys it and is always very excited for her name to be called.....

Worst day ever....

Sofia had an accident - metal fan fell on her and hit her right on her two lower teeth. Knocked one out and fractured the bone. I pushed the tooth back in, and pushed the bone back in as well as I could also. Then I freaked out. Blood was everywhere. I don't think the prognosis for these two teeth looks very good at all. At least she's handling this all pretty well. We rushed to a dentist and she didn't cry the entire time we were there. She just opened for him and let him pull her lip down so that he could see. He was very gentle and good with her and so was his assistant. Dr. Mertz on Terry in Longmont. I hope Sofia doesn't lose her two teeth, but I know that it could have been alot worse. There's nothing worse as a mother to see your child hurt and in pain.

Well, we had a great Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year. Okay, now you're all caught up! I promise to post more often (Elsa and Alan :). Here are some recent pictures of the kids. They're getting big and doing alot of new things. Sofia will be ONE on the first. She's also getting her 3rd tooth right now. She's only had the two little lower bunny teeth since she was 8 months old. Brooke repeats and does everything her brother does. And, she's definitely the comedian of the family. Alex is saying the darndest things lately. "Mama, you can go save the Haitian babies without me!" (will post more on Haiti later)

Well, I've got to get back to posting more frequently. I'm over the majority of the rush for holiday photos so things are getting back to normal. Here are some pictures from Brooke's Birthday party. My mom was in town from Miami visiting - without Michael. We missed him. Brooke got a few Frogs for her birthday and a big all terrain Radio Flyer Wagon! We LOVE this! Very useful when you have three small kids!

Halloween !!!

Okay, well I've been MIA on this blog for several reasons. One being that I'd been very busy shooting again. And the other is that my entire family came down with H1N1. I was the first to get it. It basically knocked me out for two days. The kids however seemed to fair extremely well... much better than I did anyway. So, that's over. Thank God.

Well, Alex knew from a few months ago that he wanted to be a garbage man for Halloween. And he never changed his mind as I'd kinda hoped he would. His costume looks alot like a pilot, but it's actually a garbage man costume so just play along. Brooke never really said that she wanted to be a frog but it seemed like the natural thing considering how much she loves frogs! She didn't want to take it off the first day we had it. Sofia was the tried and true princess ballerina. Naturally. On the 31st we went to the Longmont Halloween Town Parade. Pretty much everyone just walks a few blocks together so everyone can get a look at your costume. There were bands marching (Doug's high school - Skyline) and a MOB of people. Alex and Brooke rode happily in their wagon courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa and Sofia rode in the stroller. It was a good time.

My little model. Always a willing subject. Poor child.

Finally I'm able to get back into doing what I love, and getting paid for it. It's nice to have some balance in your life. My family is always my first priority. Being able to photograph allows me to be a better mother and person. It brings me so much joy and allows me artistic expression. My passion will always be photographing children. They are the what keeps us young and striving to be better people.

Trip to Steamboat with Grand'Parents

Okay, I guess I saved this post but never published it. This was in September. We all stayed at the condo together and the kids were in heaven having G'ma and G'pa around 24/7~! We all rode on the Gondola which is just a short walk from the condo. Then we had lunch at the top of the mountain. Steamboat is just a beautiful place.

Daddy built a fire station just for me!

Doug recently took the test for his commercial license and his first job was a fire station! The basic plan had already been drawn in a contemporary style on the exterior. Then I chose the interior finishes. (I'll get more photos of the interior this weekend when we get our private fire engine ride for Alex and Brooke!)

Alex, Brooke, Sofia Charlie and Jack (Charlie and Jack are the children of Doug's commercial partner and long time friend) had the distinct privilege of having their names and hand prints imprinted in the wet cement at the base of the flag pole. It's a very special opportunity.

Sofia's hand print was so tiny and cute!

The fire station's grand opening was a few weeks later. It was really cool to see their hand prints and names set in the cement forever!

Kids were able to explore an ambulance and a big fire engine. Brooke was particularly interested in the heart monitor and it's buttons and dials.

Alex kept asking to close the door and "let's go!". He had a bit of a melt down when he realized that he wasn't going to get a ride in the fire engine. But, luckily his dad has some connections and we're going for a private fire engine ride this Saturday!
