<p>In blogging it is important that you use images in the mind as well as those on paper to tell the story. The expression a Picture is Worth A Thousand Words is so true. Sometimes you can find just the perfect shot</p>
<p>to convey your thoughts and sometimes you cannot. One of the tools that you can find to convey a thought or an idea is <a rel="nofollow" href="http://fotolia.org" target="_blank">stock images</a> or photos if you do not have a particular photograph or video of your own.</p>

<h2>What are Stock Images ?</h2>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Stock Images are large collections of photos in various sizes and styles that have been compiled by providers to satisfy the market need for photographs of all settings. An important feature of web-based stock photography collections is that the images have been embedded with meta-data, therefore making the images searchable by using keywords. This allows us to find exactly what were are looking for quickly. Some galleries provide royaty-free photos where you pay for the images and others provide a wide variety of licensing arrangements where you pay for the use of the photos and credit the photographers.</p>

<h3>Royalty-free (RF)</h3>
<div>Main article: <a rel="nofollow" title="Royalty-free" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royalty-free">Royalty-free</a></div>
<p>&#8220;Free&#8221; in this context means &#8220;free of royalties (paying each time you use an image)&#8221;. It does not mean the image is free to use without purchasing a license or that the image is in the <a rel="nofollow" title="Public domain" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_domain">public domain</a>.</p>
<ul>
<li>Pay a one-time fee to use the image multiple times for multiple purposes (with limits).</li>
<li>No time limit on when the buyer can use an image.</li>
<li>No one can have exclusive rights of a Royalty-free image (the photographer can sell the image as many times as he or she wants).</li>
<li>A <a rel="nofollow" title="Royalty-free" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royalty-free">Royalty-free</a> image usually has a limit to how many times the buyer can reproduce it. For example, a license might allow the buyer to print 500,000 brochures with the purchased image. The amount of copies made is called the<a rel="nofollow" title="Print run" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Print_run">print run</a>. The buyer is required to pay a fee per brochure, usually 1 to 3 cents, for additional prints. Magazines with a large print run cannot use a standard Royalty-free license and therefore they either purchase images with a Rights-managed license or have in-house photographers.</li>
</ul>

<li>The value of a license is determined by the use of the image, which is generally broken down along these lines;
<ul>
<li><strong>Usage:</strong> (e.g. Advertising &#8211; &#8220;Above the Line&#8221;, Corporate &#8211; &#8220;Below the Line&#8221; or Editorial &#8211; &#8220;News Media&#8221;)</li>
<li><strong>Specific Use:</strong> (e.g. Billboard, Annual Report, Newspaper article)</li>
<li><strong>Duration:</strong> (e.g. 1 month, 2 months, 1 Year, 2 Years etc.)</li>
<li><strong>Print Run:</strong> (e.g. up to 10,000, up to 1m)</li>
<li><strong>Territory:</strong> (e.g.; USA, Europe, UK, Germany, or whatever combination of territories are required)</li>
<li><strong>Size:</strong> (how big is the image to be used &#8211; 1/4 page, 1/2 page, full page, or double page spread)</li>
<li><strong>Industry:</strong> (Industry type &#8211; e.g. Consumer Electronics, Marine Engineering, Financial Services etc.)</li>
<li><strong>Exclusivity:</strong> (Exclusive, or Non Exclusive)</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>The terms of the license are clearly defined and negotiated so that the purchaser receives maximum value, and is protected in their purchase by a certain level of exclusivity.</li>
<li>Rights-managed licenses provide assurance that an image will not be used by someone else in a conflicting manner. The agreement can include exclusivity, and usually recognises that this represents added value. Not all Rights-managed licenses are exclusive, that must be stipulated in the agreement.</li>
<li>A Rights-managed image usually allows a much larger print run per image than a Royalty-free license.</li>
<li>Editorial is a form of rights-managed license when there are no releases for the subjects. Since there are no releases the images cannot be used for advertising or to depict controversial subjects, only for news or educational purposes.</li>
</ul>
<p>Companies that sell rights images include <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.gettyimages.ca/?Language=en-US" target="_blank">Getty Images</a>, <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.corbisimages.com/" target="_blank">Corbis</a>, and Istockphoto which is owned by Getty Images.  One of the most popular microstock photo galleries is <a rel="nofollow" href="http://fotolia.org" target="_blank">Fotolia</a></p>

<p>I think the book’s main virtue (aside from being well-reasoned and well-written) is demonstrating the work we do as business owners and entrepreneurs is important. Not only in an economic sense, but in other ways as well<br />
In the book, Shel does a great job of marrying the ethics and pragmatics of business, and showing us that the two are inextricably linked. These ethical, spiritual viewpoints are important as determiners of the paradigm from which we operate as business people.</p>
<h2>Guerilla Marketing &#038; Copywriting</h2>
<p>(As an aside: the section on copywriting is brilliant, a great distillation of timeless truth, presented in a fresh new way. I’ll be discussing these ideas in an upcoming issue of my soon-to-be-launched <a rel="nofollow" href="http://rayedwards.com/training/vip/">print newsletter for copywriters.)</a></p>
<p>Historically, there have been two disparate camps in the Western world. One one hand: the “Ayn Rand style” of entrepreneur, out primarily to make money. On the other hand: the spiritual-socially-conscious people, who have tended to paint “big business” primarily as robber-barons.</p>

<p>Social media automation is becoming more important as the number of different channels you are using grows by leaps and bounds. Just when you start to get things cranking on one site another pops up. I am not talking bout the flavor of the week type sites but some of the new rapidly growing sites like <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.oink.com">Oink</a>,<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.path.com">Path</a> and <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.pinterest.com">Pinterest</a>. Social communication also is growing on the actual website as well as on Mobile friendly sites.</p>
<p>While you choose channels to match your market it can get very labour-intensive and  the work involved can lead you down some of those wonderful timewasting holes.</p>
<h2>Social Media Automation Tips &#038; Tools</h2>
<p>Think about automation tools to take appropriate content and use different social media pathways or channels to distribute it. Don&#8217;t just duplicate every item in many places but set up intelligent automation based on your subjects and targets, where they tend to hangout and the message you convey.</p>
<p>Repurposing content for different channels <strong>is just smart marketing</strong><em>. Use pictures,audio,video as well as the written word. Mix them up and see what works for your current tactics. Then test using tools like Clicky or Google Analytics to see what best accomplishes your objective which could be traffic, engagement or conversion.</p>
<p>Use a tool to remove the low value repetitive tasks.</p>
<p>A great new tool I have seen is <a rel="nofollow" href="http://iftt.com">IFTT</a>. Short for If This Then That. You create sequences of action called recipes. An example of this might be be whenever you publish a post on your blog announce it on Twitter,post a link on your Google Plus Page, send a link to your Facebook profile.</p>

Make sure that this is not just a total multiplicative process but that you are adding value for each channel and you will see better results and more engagement through it.</p>

<p>It seems silly to ask this question but it is so important to outline that your content must deliver value to the reader,or they may not visit you again or find someone else who provides the information they are looking for. It is like meeting someone for the first time on   the street  on  your <a href="http://www.thesilentseller.com/business-blog/">blog</a> and just finding out that all that is there  to them is a lot of marketing gobbledygook and b.s. . Great first impression, eh?</p>
<p>You have to entertain and entice the reader to read in the first place so why would you just try to promote all the time.  Tell your story to get the reader into your ideas so they can see what you do, how you do it and why it is important for them . <p>And the reason the reader is at your site is they were looking for something related to your topic and may have been directed their by a topsearch engine ranking or another person commenting on their blog about what you do.</p>
<p>Whenever I first talk to a client about their marketing I go through a questionaire with them  which basically asks them the W5 of  their  business. Who,What,Where,Why and When . Most people like to talk about what they do and a good number will talk about why they do it, but I always ask them the reason why they do it and what excites them and gives them job satisfaction. It gives me part of their story and give it to mein their voice.</p>
<h2>Ask the Questions Your Customers Ask</h2>

<p>When you are generating content for your blog or business site, it is not all about you. It is all about what your customers are asking  about or searching for.  To provide the best content that educates ,you should think of the top 25 questions you have been asked about your business in the last year and rank the questions by the number of times they are asked.  <strong>Not a new idea</strong>. There are your first 25 posts or articles.</p>
<p>One of the most successful swimming pool companies in Virginia <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.riverpoolsandspas.com/">River Pools</a>, led by <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.thesaleslion.com/">The Sales Lion</a>, Marcus Sheridan, does just that and it delivers a continous flow of buyers and leads to that business. Why because they have prequalified the buyer with a level of knowledge, likeabilty and trust.  This site is an excellent business site to model yours after. Another  super model is <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.hubspot.com/">Hubspot</a> which constantly provides a flood of free content and numerous whitepapers to download free of charge, Their  paid product is good but their &#8220;freemium&#8221; or high value content is outstanding.</p>
<p>This post is meant to encourage you to &#8220;think like a customer&#8221; and get out of your comfort zone  Develop a habit of content making and it will become second nature, after all it is your business and your customers or patients are talking to you.</p>

Inherent in this infographic for business here is that it brings awareness to the UNC Online MBA and puts their product in context with Harvard,UWO&#8217;s Ivey School , and Dartmouth&#8217;s Tuck School by association. All are top MBA schools in North America.</p>

<p>Along with Oli&#8217;s attractive infographic was a <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/7hv8Q1/unbounce.com/noob-guide-to-online-marketing-infographic/">series</a> on SEO Moz which further explains the gorgeous infographic and adds a lot of meat to the bones for this topic.  This information is a great training in itself of all the elements and it is a classic example of good content or educational marketing.</p>

<p>Online marketing is changing in that it was once the stuff of advertising agencies or Madison Avenue conglomerates. The new world of marketing advisors is gradually  making these middlemen  expendable and passing the control directly to the brand or small business.  At the same time it is doing this a new generation of marketers is also sharing the keys to the kingdom.  I intend to do this in a series of blog posts I will be starting in the new year to pass on the knowledge that I have learned in my years in the business to also assist you my readers in your education.</p>

<p>Now here are some tips that can help you optimize  and get top ranking in your Google Places listings.<br />
First, fill out every single detail you can. This will help you show up more often on the search engines and get more clicks. Simply put – Google favours local listings with MORE content. If this means making a simple slide show picture video so you can submit a video on your Google Places listing, so be it. <p>Let’s talk about keyword optimization a bit more. You have to optimize your keywords in your Google Places listing so more people can find you when they do local searches and develop a dominant online presence. Next, look at the <em>source code</em> at the very top of the view source  page for something called “meta keywords”. Most sites have their meta keywords set.
