As some of you may know, I collect cookbooks.

So, when Laura Trevey of the fabulous blog Bright Bold and Beautiful hosted a giveaway for Debi Shawcross' Friends at the Table: The Ultimate Supper Club Cookbook, I entered.

And, I won!This cookbook is so much fun. Filled with many photos, it is categorized by season with a shopping list at the beginning of each meal. Ms. Shawcross also provides a timeline for what to cook when.

Weight Watchers Slow Cooker Lentil Soup

I love lentils and I love my slow cooker.

Here is a recipe that I made using both.Easy peasey and whoa, the fiber! Drink plenty of water.

I omitted the Canadian bacon. I didn't really feel the recipe needed it. Maybe next time, I will include a can of diced tomatoes.

My guest bedroom turned home office renovation is going ever so slowly. What, you may ask is holding me back?

Finding the right desk.

Simple, right? A desk.

But not so much. I thought of making my own using a slab of wood and 4 legs; mainly because I fear having to assemble anything I purchase from IKEA.

I really like this desk, the Micke.It is the right dimensions. The right style I am going for and the price is oh-so-right at $69.

However, how am I going to put it together?

I saw the instructional manual online and I am scared!

Have any of you put together something from IKEA? How was it? Did you survive?

I have not been in a creative kind of mood this Valentine's Day.

And I am not one to repeat a post but I've got nothing.

There is all this chatter about how Tim Tebow won't drop his pants for his Jockey commercial. I say leave the clothes on and leave something to the imagination.

Mr. Tebow is advertising for a keep-your-body-cool product. After watching this video, I can hardly keep cool (wink wink).

My KIND of Granola Bar

I have a love-hate relationship with granola bars.

Most of the bars I have tried taste like ground-up cardboard, not that I've eaten ground-up cardboard but I can imagine what it wound taste like.

I recently saw a tv program where granola bars were reviewed and this bar came out on top.I found it at Trader Joe's and I am in love!

Dark Chocolate Cherry Cashew is the only flavor I have tried and it is divine. It is also sold at Starbucks.

Have you tried these? What is your favorite granola bar?

Mediterranean Soup from Cooking Light

I love me some good soup and this recipe is one I always fall back on during the cooler months.

It is from a decade old Cooking Light magazine and is called Mediterranean Chickpea, Tomato and Pasta Soup.

Ingredients:Recipe:The smell of this soup from the cinnamon is so fragrant and this soup is so comforting.Some changes I made to the recipe are as follows:
1 - Instead of ditalini, I used elbow macaroni.
2 - I eliminated parsley.
3 - Very important - I used two cans of chicken broth because if you don't, this won't be a soup but more like a stew.

I really love this soup and hope you do too.

I have solved The Case of the Missing Vases.

You may remember this post about my missing vases.Well, I searched everywhere and today, while passing a chest of drawers in my guest room, I got this feeling, "Open up the bottom drawer."

And there the beauties were! In a totally empty drawer that I never put anything in because it always sticks.

Martha Stewart Show Canceled

Not sure if you heard but The Martha Stewart Show has been canceled.

As someone who has been to her show three times (you can read about all of my visits on my blog), I am a bit sad.I found her shows to be fun and her staff, some of the nicest people.

Martha Stewart's Hors D'oeuvres Handbook and Blue Cheese Popovers

Happy New Year everyone!

I'd like to share with you an hors d'oeuvre I made for the new year from a cookbook I have had for several years; Martha Stewart's Hors D'oeuvres Handbook.
This is a really comprehensive cookbook for all things hors d'oeuvres.

I decided to make Blue Cheese Popovers.Ingredients:

My take on this recipe:
1 - Super easy to make
2 - Tasted horrible and said popovers are now in the trash. I followed this recipe to a tee. They were so bland. Because they were easy to make, I will try to savor-up the recipe and see what happens.
3 - The recipe instructs using a mini muffin tin and will make 48 popovers. I used a mini muffin tin and you can see from my photo that they only made 18 popovers. I guess not all mini muffin tins are made the same.

I will certainly make more of the recipes from Martha's book but not this one, this way.
