I’ve been a fan of this site since it’s launch and it never ceases to amaze me how much incredible photography there is out there in the world. To have the #1 photo is a proud moment for me, a real honor. I’ve been amazed at the response I’ve had this morning from the media as well. 500PX is doing a lot right! Newspapers and news agencies from around the world have contacted me this morning looking to showcase the image and the rest of my winter work. It’s really quite incredible!

This sequence of Matt was shot in Switzerland in spring 2011 whilst on a trip shooting for Skier magazine and Orage clothing. We’d had some terrible luck with snow conditions and our search for powder had come up with nothing. In an effort to salvage something from the trip we decided to head to Laax for the last few days where we knew they had a good park that would allow us to make a few images regardless of snow conditions. In fact we also got a cover shot out of this session with this same trick that Matt is doing in the sequence. This was shot with a Canon 1dMK4 and a fisheye lens.
